Depends on the locality.

Use ratio 1:1.2-1.5 for modu conversion

Nasarawa, Kaduna and Niger have some of the biggest modu though that is also market dependent

Prices in kg. In some instances, weight of bag is above 100kg, but maize and soya are 100kg bags

Dry pepper and ginger do not weigh up to 100kg. Both can attain 50kg if properly bagged

Bags sold at 28-30k. Modu at 170

Peeled Egusi sold at 420/modu

Prices may rise slightly next month as demand increases for the yuletide.

Before i get crucified for deserting this thread. Will be at some markets today and will update prices accordingly

It depends on your locality or intended market. The smaller the pepper, the hotter it is and of course, the higher the price too.

Bag sizes differ but mostly jumbo 6 bags or Jamilu bags(size 32)

Current prices range from 19k-21k for jumbo 6 capped in kaduna to 26k-28k for jamilu bag uncapped in nasarawa and 40k-42k for African bird eye chilli (size 32 uncapped) on the Plateau.

Please note that varieties differ per location.

Dry Pepper entry @ 26-29k, exit @ 38-45k. Peak price period is June/July

Maize entry @9-11k/100kg max and exit @14-18k
Peak price period differs per zone. Southern zones experience scarcity from February, northern zone April

Groundnut @26-30k/size 32bag and exit @40-45k. Peak price from March- April

Soya entry @ 17kg/100kg bag and exit @ 21-25K. Peak price in May/June

Sesame entry @32-35k, exit at 38-40k for agents who supply exporters. Prices should drop to 20-25k by december ending; exit at 33-35k, March -June

Ginger @17- 23k for an L5 bag of 40-50kg, exit @28-32k in July/August

To help him a bit. That's a size L5 bag. If well packaged, should be more than 40kg, approx 50kg.

Red kidney beans @400-420/modu. Prices may however dip slightly in December.

Price of beans is fair if you are referring to a size 32 bag though most harvest are just trickling out

Soya price is relatively okay too when compared with figures in kaduna, Nasarawa and parts of Plateau

For those who have quoted prices for commodities, will appreciate if your can confirm bag sizes for ease of comparism.

I had earlier suggested a price synergy, but sense most are not willing to be forthcoming with current prices.

The following commodities are available currently at fairly okay entry prices

1, Soya beans
2, Maize
3, Rice
4, Sorghum
5, Dry pepper

Remember to treat commodities before storage if holding long term

Don't store beyond your capacity as it may not be easy to sell without prior experience.

Primary location of commodity is kaduna. Anywhere in Kachia LGA will do. Kafanchan also has similar prices

You will definitely required more weight of fresh whole ginger to make up 40kg of split dried ginger.

Even if you store up your fresh ginger, it will gradually lose weight from change in surronding temperature

Please use moisture content values to determine dry matter ratio.

Dried state could also be in stages and of different value

Fresh Whole ginger is 7-9k per bag.

Farm gate is always cheaper than market price, however you need to understand the scaling ratio.

Exit was N130/140 per kg @ for maize, N200/modu in the open market. Those were the high end prices.

Soya was N120/140 per kg, N150 per modu in the open market.

Ginger is predominantly Kaduna and not nasarawa. Price range is 19k-21k per bag. Approx average weight is 50kg per bag

Dry split ginger/Fresh Ginger

Let's have a price synergy of commodities in our locality.

I believe some of the most volatile are maize and soya for now.

Prices for botprices almost at last years exit price and i fear most speculators may find it hard to sell at much higher prices

Sesame out but trading @35k a bag,company prices may however drop the prices to 24k-27k from next week

Also called the bird eye pepper and is bagged in size 30 A6 sack but not capped. Current price in nasarawa market is 26k, farm gate is 24k.
