Politics / Some Factors That Has Shappened And Militated Against The Ruling Party. by OldefDaniels(m): 9:04am On Mar 31, 2015
I watched analysis on AIT as the Presidential election results were coming in yesterday the 30th of March and one question that popped up and could not be answered immediately was that of a sharp contrast between registered voters and actual accredited voters.
This write up is my own little guess as to why and how it has worked against the sitting government.

-Mass Migration: Rewind to last elections where the temporary voters card had just been issued, a lot, I mean a lot of registered voters where pretty close to their registered centers and shortly after could vote with their TVC's. I for one registered in Edo state's capital and eventually voted in same. Fast forward to 2015, I now live and work in Keffi, Nasarawa state and am told I can't vote here even after undergoing the stress of having to live work and travel to go fight to collect my permanent voters card (PVC). Trust me, I'm not a change supporter, I could have voted for GEJ but couldn't. This equally goes to a lot of igbos who have ran back home for their dear lives after all the threats in the north. The ruling party's campaign strategists and analysts never saw this coming in their highest level of stupidity. This Sai Buhari people do not travel far, they are always in their comfort zone and can stroll down to their Polling Units and cast their votes even if called to do so at midnight.
- Insecurity: The fear of boko haram and incisive comments by our nothern neighbors here has either driven a lot of registered voters home e.g all the ibos selling in the market here in keffi have all closed shops and gone back to the east. When I say all, I mean at least 85% of em have all ran back home for fear of insecurity should the polls go in favor of the sitting govt. A few that stayed back and have registered in this volatile areas are all indoors praying for their dear lives. This is not peculiar to the igbos alone, all other ethnic groups and tribes aren't left out of this. They've all left areas of registration to areas where they've been disenfranchised.
- Lack of motivation: After the 1st tenure of Oga Jonah, followers are tired of his excuses and weakness. The sitting President has continued to be disappointing in areas his rod and staff are needed most. Until late, insurgents were having a filled day in the North East and some other areas, no corrupt officer has been at least used as a scapegoat to deter others, projects are halfhazzardly done, power is still an issue, fuel subsidy and all its so called gains and losses hasn't been a transparent issue to mention but a few. Electorates are tired of the lookwarmness and have opted for change.
- Look warm attitude: On the part of GEJ's supporters, there seems to be a high level of look warmness and big boy-ism. I watched a couple of jeans wearing and wizkidlike voters walk away from election grounds due to card reader malfunctioning, long queues, scorching sun and other factors while our holy mallams with the caftans and jump up trousers stood their grounds. I'm sure U get the drift here.
- Over-Enlightenment: Too many enlightened persons believing in status and class registered to vote and on the long run didn't see a reason to stress themselves.
- Wrong Policies: The PDP government failed to note that asking supporters to travel to go vote was an undoing on their parts. It should have made it possible for voters to cast their votes from any location. What was the essence of the card reader if it couldn't authenticate pvc's from any location? That was dullness on their part am sure U agree.
- Betrayal: The transformation agenda of Nigeria (TAN) failed Mr President totally. They kept giving him the all is well false hopes while they embezzled his funds released for projects. His ministers failed him too, how many of them came out to campaign for him? His Governors are just the worst, the likes of Suswam of Benue state who refused paying salaries for months should have been jailed if I could have access to his powers. The Yorubas who have remained boot-lickers have ones again proven their skills. At the last minute, they've bootlegged the polity and ones again confirmed their never to be trusted personalities. This statement should be watched closely, they have given their mandate to an old general right? Let's watch and see what this will spiral into.
- Above all, the cup is full for the PDP government. The time of lies and fooling the people is drawing to an end. Actions are starting to speak louder than words. The people want to try other hands in the piloting of the nation. No hard feelings but the masses are tired.
Let's hope there's still a little grace left in the house of Delilah or else Samsons powers are gone and this will mark the end of the Peoples Democratic Parties reign. As for some of us, we do not subscribe to old age governance, when will it become the turn of some of us to rule if men who ruled while I was a child are still fighting to rule again now that I am an adult and have my own family? Waiting for the results of the remaining states. GOD Bless Nigeria. Admin, I think an article of this sort deserves to be FP'ed.

Politics / A Letter To Buhari by OldefDaniels(m): 10:44pm On Jan 28, 2015
A NIGERIAN YOUTH WROTE THIS LETTER TO BUHARI
Sir, let us examine your service records. I consider your generation a very privileged one, indeed. In 1975 at the age of 33, you were appointed the Military Governor of the North-Eastern State, present day Borno & Yobe states.
In 1976 at the age of 34 you became the Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources. In 1978 at the age of 36 you became the Chairman of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Today the reverse is the case. Most Nigerians at age of 35 are still unemployed and still living with parents. Many are still not married. During your time you were already Governor at this age.
One major reason for this unfortunate turn of events is that many elders like you have refused to voluntarily handover the baton to the next generation. Life should be a relay race where one runs his race and hands over to the next. In Nigeria many elders like you have run their races and are still holding on tenaciously to the baton.
But Sir, I have an important question here for you. The question is simple, MUST YOU SERVE NIGERIA AS A PRESIDENT ONLY? IS THERE NO OTHER CAPACITY YOU CAN SERVE US EXCEPT THE PRESIDENCY? It is very erroneous to imagine that you can only serve Nigeria only in one capacity. During the regime of late General Sani Abacha, you accepted the appointment to serve as the Chairman of the then Petroleum Trust Fund PTF.
The general opinion was that you served faithfully in this capacity. Well done Sir! But you never asked Abacha to vacate office for you as your former subordinate in the army. Never! In fact that would have been a dangerous move, if not suicidal. Rather you served faithfully under your former junior in the army. Sir, imagine if you take on another job like the Chairman of EFCC or ICPC or NDLEA.
Nigerians actually need you to serve in one of these capacities much more than they need you in the Presidency. Mere mentioning your name as Chairman of EFCC would drive many corrupt men underground. But you wouldn’t . Either the Presidency or nothing. When are you going to handover to the next person? It is either you do it voluntarily or risk disgrace at the polls. In 1983 at the age of 41, you became the Head of State.
Most Nigerians in my age have not had the opportunity to serve, but we still remain committed to the Nigerian project. You should rather be graceful to God and to Nigerians for the numerous opportunities that have come your way to serve Nigerians. Others are begging for just one opportunity to serve. Sir, you have to accept the stark reality on ground that you have served your time already.
That is life for you. You run the race, you handover the baton for others to run, you cannot hold on to the baton more than is necessary. As a former head of State you are already a member of the Council of State Meeting. You have every avenue to channel your views across. You don’t necessarily have to be in a front-line role, you can serve in an advisory capacity. That is still service.
In fairness to you Sir, any of your Children would pose a serious challenge to Jonathan more than yourself. I do not see Nigerians electing a 72 year old former Head of state to lead us in this Digital era. With due respect to you Sir, you belong to the Analogue age and therefore, will not fit in as president in this digital era.
This is the blunt truth. Please do not enter the Guinness book of world records on a negative note. Losing four consecutive Presidential election would not augur well for your reputation. It is in your best interest to assume your position as an elder statesman and allow others to serve. Nigeria does not belong to you alone. It belongs to us all.
The likes of Nuhu Ribadu, Dora Akunyili, El Rufai at least served in their different capacities to d best of their abilities. As an elder statesman, U should have at least groomed someone to Ur standards and U be doing d underground work. Don't fall down and die on d throne oh.
Am not been sentimental here, if APC have fielded d likes of Rabiu Kwankwanso, Raji Fashola, Adams Oshiomole, Rochas Okorocha, we would have buried dis PDP we are so tired of, Oga Ur time don pass I beg. Let's leave result matter 1st.

Politics / Re: Nigerian Soldiers: We Are Under-Equipped And Out-Numbered - CNN (Photo) by OldefDaniels(m): 5:41am On Jan 16, 2015
Illiteracy is still a huge issue in Nigeria sha. A "supposed soldier" goes on air to CNN, the same CNN we saw interviewing bokoharam members, tells the world he buys his military uniforms himself, some wild animals say na President sell am or influence am, na wa.
D same CNN that said Ebola was ravaging Nigeria and gave a map that pointed another country as Nigeria, Some idiots say President.
A "Supposed Soldier" tells the world via CNN that BH is better equipped with sophisticated weapons than the Nigerian army, some nama wen dem suppose sell for Market forget that this same BH loot weapons from our military to fight.
My Question is, do these soldiers go to Aso Rock to buy uniforms directly from the presidency? If these same soldiers can go on air to report their institution to d world, why haven't they cried foul to d relevant authorities all this while but CNN?
CNN propagating the gospel of a better equipped BH than the NA, have they ever come out to condemn the USA and its western allies for refusing to sell the supposed "sophisticated arms" to Nigeria?
Wetin be their plan for Nigeria? If our Govt is bad like it truly is in our country, CNN should carry their mumu stories and go to hell, Illiterates should go get some brains to ask relevant questions, probe statements before blabbing.
Uniforms for NYSC sef dem no de buy, Soldiers are given uniforms at all relevant levels, if one misuses or looses out of carelessness and at the point has to buy doesn't mean they all buy. The west and their CNN should leave us alone with our wahala, FOOLS.

Nairaland / General / Naija Police And Money Sha. by OldefDaniels(m): 4:35pm On Dec 16, 2014
My wife's hand bag was snatched at mile 12 on sunday the 14th of Dec while on her way back to our base from ikorodu. She left d office to go make a complaint at Ketu police station as I.D cards, atm cards, her international passport and a mobile phone were inside the bag. They asked her to go get a sworn affidavit before she will be issued a Police report to cover the missing items which she eventually did today, d 16th of Dec.
Getting to Ketu police station today, from gate, the police guy asked us our mission which we stated, he said e was gonna cost us #500 naira to start d process. I just laughed, ignored him and went in.
Getting in, they asked us to bring #1000, I asked for what, they said for registeration, I paid and de gave a serial number and refered us to another office, getting there the lady incharge said light was low and couldn't type with her system. As fate will have it, their Oga asked for Gen to be put on as d light had completely been taken.
To type, she requested for #1000 which we paid, as madam begin type discover say international passport join missing items, see shout. Ha, ha, ha, international passport too? No ooooooo, ha Madam come oh, that money is too small-iooo, Ur moni is Fife thaouson-iooo (#5000). I was so shocked at the level of shamelessness and greed on d path of our police that I didn't know when I burst into laughter. I laffed so hard that they couldn't help it too, they started laffing.
I asked her, is it a crime my wifes bag was stolen? Or was our coming to Ketu police station d crime we committed? Eventually we paid the #1000, d guy to sign and stamp collected same #1k.
As I was leaving, I made a statement, I think its better to wait, if the items stolen puts U in trouble, especially the identifications and stuff, its better to keep money somewhere to bail yourself than to go through this process.
