Nigeria is still largely conservative. Culture permeates almost every aspect of our lives. Social forces influenced by patriarchial customs and norms are dominant. The ways in which this can be lessened is through education. When more people are properly educated, there will be alot of doing away with certain traditions but the widespread poverty is a big hurdle. You see, poverty, illiteracy and traditional culture go hand in hand. It's one of the reasons why Africa and some parts in Middle East, Asia and Latin America are underdeveloped. There's also socialization. Women are socialized to view marriage as the acme of existence. This is not unique to Nigeria alone but all over the world. Some women in the West are opting out of marriage and children all together because it's not what it is cracked out to be. There's research and studies that proves women have more to lose because they (Women) take on the bulk of child rearing and household duties, in addition to working full time. Thats alot of responsibility and some have decided it's not even worth venturing into. Now, those women are free to exercise their rights without much hassle unlike in Nigeria were the stigmatisation is great and due to the prevailing culture it is viewed as unthinkable. Do you catch my drift now? It's a whole lot of delving into because multi-faceted.

Besides, the articles I posted never mentioned Nigerian women but nevertheless this circles back to the above caveat and everything I've written thus far. To oversimplify my point:

The social forces and culture in Nigeria is stronger than that of the west. With culture, comes certain expectations of women due to tradition and because this is pervasive, Nigerian women have a narrow path in their lives i.e marriage and children. However, when this is lessened and more women get educated, they will be a "going against the grain".

Men have refused to step up and be better means exactly what the literal statement is. You still think money is everything. You can be absolutely devoid of any good character but once you have money, then you're now a "high value man" and the ladies will flock, isn't that so?

Well this is false.

Money sure can attract a women but it can't keep her if you're a shitty person. If money was the key to successful relationships then rich men won't be getting divorced left, right & centre. Nothing of good character/personality is emphasized for men. It's all just money and y'all run with it. To be better means to be a good person, which honestly, is the bare minimum.

I feel like all what I just typed out is common anense but you redpillers are so lacking in critical thinking and analysis. It's very irritating and none of y'all are worth the replies tbh.

Men have refused to step up and be better. They think all that's needed of them is to make money and women will automatically fawn over them. False. Not in this modern age were women work and earn. Men still want traditional roles but aren't willing to play that part (paying all the bills, renovating the house, fixing the sink etc. Traditional masculine activities) and honestly, it's not even appealing to women anymore (the educated ones) because we still take the bulk of responsibility for the home and child rearing, in addition to working. Society doesn't give women credit for being workhorses and more women are seeing marriage for the scam that it is. Some are even choosing to opt out of it and children. And women do not mind being single either. So those fears of loneliness men use as a shaming tactic has no basis in reality
