2.5% of the assessable profits of every company in Nigeria is paid as Education Tax, who manages this fund? Where is all the money going to? How come this is not enough to fund, or at least provide most of funding for the education sector? What is the funding gap and how much of this gap needs to be pushed back to students/ parents? Petrol subsidies have ceased and now the Government is washing its hands off education. What are they planning to do with all the savings asides the 114% increment in the salaries of political office holders? |

I am so proud of this Oba! Can you imagine! He has used what we think is evil to fight something even deeper. He has successfully freed the minds of thousands of girls who, because of the fear of the unknown are still locked down in prostitution and the cycle of death. For those who have no daughters or sisters please you have no right to comment here. Let me even ask those who hold a different view. In what way, in the little sphere u control, have you made life better for others. To all the little children insulting the Oba, let me ask you, how do you think he gathered all the native doctors in Bini together? He sent them a gmail? Let us learn to respect our superiors. Even Jesus told us our rulers are ordained by God! I rest my case. May the Oba of Bini live long! |
We might also need to consider the aerodynamic drag (ie. air resistance) when the windows are down if you aren't using your ac. This will add more load to the engine. See detailed study on this here: http://www.autoglassofamerica.com/maintenance/which-is-more-fuel-efficient-windows-down-or-ac/ |
I'm not the smartest person around but I did it in 2009 - 2011. ICAN is every six months so there's time to rest after the exams, while the MSC was a part time thing with lectures every Saturday and Sundays. The only thing you need to consider is cutting down on sleep time. I strongly believe the recommended 8-hour sleep time wont be a reality for you going forwards, you know what you want out of life so go for it. |
Linearity you would do well to pass your point across next time without insulting other people as you would be shocked at the calibre of people that read your posts. Appearing insulting belittles you. FYI, I have read the bible and the quaran back to back quite a number of times, I have also studied quite a few books on other religions; needless to say, I do not claim to be an authority in these matters and I would be happy to learn from you if you are willing to teach me what you know. I assume you are a Christian and that I can discuss with you using biblical terms, hence my points below: i. Remember Isa 28:10 - For it is precept upon precept, line upon line; here a little, there a little. See the following scriptures to buttress my point: II Kings 22:17, II Kings 23:5; II Chronicles 28:25, 34:24, 34:25; Jeremiah 1:16, 7:9, 11:12, 19:4; Chapter 44, 48:35 ii. Have you heard of the demon called Bacchus, please do some research on him, you would be shocked what you would find out (you can start from here: http://www.cuttingedge.org/ce1062.html). iii. Please see extract of some research I did a while ago on the origin of smoking (culled from http://www.demonbuster.com/smoking.html) Burning tobacco originated with ancient aboriginals. The modern world learned of the use of tobacco from the Indians. History reveals Columbus found the Indians smoking and watched with surprise and wonderment. The Grand Pipe or Pipe of Peace was first observed among the Indians of Upper Mississippi country by the French. They called these pipes "calumets". According to the Indians the pipe possessed a supernatural power and a "charming" effect to compel the partakers of the smoke to a brotherly bond of peace (obviously not the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ). Historically the calumet was considered a sacred pipe to offer smoke to the demon gods above and below. Tobacco was looked upon as a sacred plant and burning it brought favor in the eyes of the gods (demons). Even a member of an enemy tribe who entered a house and smoked with the host, was guaranteed protection and safe conduct when he left. Several Indian tribes burned incense for a purifying medium or an acceptable offering to the unseen. Some eastern tribes did not smoke a pipe in a sacred ceremony but burned tobacco in a small fire. This smoke offering was believed to ascend to the power to whom they prayed. As the use of tobacco as an offering to gods continued, it was rolled in corn husks, the predecessors of modern cigars and cigarettes. Inhaling the smoke was incorporated into the rituals and both the smoke and the aroma continued to have a serious place in the religious rituals and ceremonies. History reference books also state the tobacco pipe was used by American Indians in ceremonies to ratify treaties. Also, some Indians smoked the tobacco pipes to their sun-god and blew the smoke to him. Indians related many sources of illnesses to "witches who flew through the air disguised as owls to poison their victims". The protective practice against these witches was to cut their limbs and cleanse themselves of bad blood; and the use of "the old man's tobacco" was to avert spirits of the dead. These are processes of witchcraft prohibited by God. iv. If you feel Jesus spoke contextually in Matt 15:11, please read Rev 22:18-19. v. You are quite wrong in assuming that nothing is exhaled when you smoke electronic cigarettes, because though they do not produce cigarette smoke they produce an aerosol which is frequently but inaccurately referred to as vapor. The point is 'something comes out'. In conclusion, please read Matt 13: 10-16, I pray verses 11 and 16 will be your portion. Asante sana. |
Linearity, your lack of understanding of lexis and structure is what is very evident here considering that your first sentence lacks an 'of' between 'lack' and 'biblical'. It made me want to ignore your exposé (or lack of it). I would however; take time out of my very busy schedule to educate you for the sake of others who are reading this. i. When I said 'burn incense' I'm sure the picture you had in your mind was of someone in red robes carrying a small burning stick. Wrong. My dictionary defines incense (the noun) thus: a. An aromatic substance, such as wood or a gum, that is burned to produce a pleasant odor. b. The smoke or odor produced by the burning of such a substance. I am sure that if we are not talking about electronic cigarettes, every other cigarette fits this description. ii. Unless you agree with me that the cigarette smoke is burnt to the worship of God, then it is obviously burning to fulfil some purpose, I leave that to you to decide. iii. Your last sentence nails it. If you have observed people who smoke very closely you would notice that something actually comes out of their mouth when they exhale (I might be wrong though, please help me confirm when next you see a smoker). linearity: |
Smoking is a sin. Jer 44:8 Why do you provoke Me to anger with the works (idols) of your own hands, burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt, where you [of your own accord] have come to dwell temporarily, that you might be cut off and become a curse and a reproach (an object of reviling and taunts) among all the nations of the earth? A smoker burns incense, definitely not to God. |
Same thing happened to me at Mobil in Gbagada, I wanted to buy N5,000 worth of Petrol, the guy inserted the nozzle and I heard the fuel pump make some noise. Immediately I opened the car door and lo and behold the guage was at N1,000. I was like, you mean you have pumped in N1,000 worth of fuel between the time I opened the fuel tank then opened the car door (ie. within 5 secs). That was when I started screaming... I guy quietly told me it was a mistake and sold my correct quantity. That didn't stop me from reporting to the manager though. ![]() |
Hi, you can try my mechanic, his name is Osho and his workshop is around Westex in Gbagada, he might just come over and see the car. His number is 08051837696. Cheers |
I was driving on my way to work with my windows wound down to clear the mist. One small boy of about 15 years came to my side of the car and said " Bros please I need your help, can I ask u something?" I looked at the guy and he didn't seem to have anything to say, na so my antenna rise. I quickly looked at my right side to see one very fast movement, another guy had picked my new BB phone! Choi!, I had d option of jumping out of the car and shouting ole! ole!, but I kon think am twice, For two guys to be robbing so early in the morning they should be part of a syndicate. If I run and pursue them who knows what will happen to my laptop in the car, na so I mellow, kon lick my wounds. This happened at new garage, gbagada yesterday. Please if u drive to work and get to any area where you have to drive slowly, please wind up. I learnt mine the hard way. |
Just goes to show how terrible the people who are at the helm of affairs in the education system have run it aground. Also heard that majority of the students who have completed the MSc Finance programme in Unilag have not been graduated for unknown reasons, even after they have concluded their programme. Who knows, they might just be waiting for more kidney donations! |
@jp phillips: Brilliant write up (I also read the other one), concise solutions to real problems, I just hope your proposed policies could just be implemented. |
I could sell one of my cars to you, an e-class (2000 model) for 250k but you would have to change the gear box (which would cost you 70k - 55k for the gear, 5k to install and 10k to program) If you however, spend more than 80k to repair the gear, i'll reimburse you any additional amount u spend. |
1) Block of 4 flats and 2 BQs - N45m 2) A set of twin duplexes (not detached) - N42m Title of both houses - Good. Can also give you links to mortgage houses that can give loans payable over a period of about 20 yrs. |
I have used the 03 altima b4 and i can tell you for free to keep away from anything called Nissan, the engines are not durable, they always experience overheating problems (especially when you use the AC), I sold mine at a loss later on. And once the engine starts to overheat the tendency of the blocks to get warped is higher than the toyota which causes the overheating to end up as a terminal issue. There are very few roadside Nissan mechanics (they'll all tell you that anybody who fixes japanese cars can fix a nissan easily, very untrue) I'll advice you to go for the toyota anyday. Cheap parts, good mechanics everywhere, fuel efficiency are toyota's good points. Take care and all the best in your purchase. |
Gentlemen, have you considered the year of the cars you are comparing? Will it be fair to compare the '02 benz with the 05 BMW? See attached pics of the '09 model of both cars and give your honest judgment. Do you now see why th Benz is called the ultimate machine?

There's a good place close to the new Aswani market. It's called the 'cold room' and its before the oshodi/isolo LGA council. It's called the cold room because there's a cold room within the facility. They also oven bake cars in a section of the property. Please go inside and deal with the company staff themselves for accountability. |
I've been trying to reach you but no. isn't going thru. I'll be coming over on saturday by 2:00pm with my mechanic for inspection. |
