your figure for blocks appear to be on the high side. Given the standard 60 by 120 plot u would need between 2500 - 3000 at the most. This depends on your gatesize.

It could be less as you've suggested, the figure is for 12 coaches, for the 2 plot, extra block would be needed, assuming gate won't be needed for one of the plot, so the front will need to be fenced off.

I don't mean to be pessimistic but i don't know how 2 plots of land could be fenced for such a low amount, roughly about 7000 blocks would be needed (depending on how many coaches, it could be more or less), that alone is N840,000 (blocks at the rate of N120), there's still sand, gravel/granite, iron, planks, cement to be bought, lets not forget labour fees for iron bender, carpenter and bricklayer. But it's possible though to use that amount to secure the land, you buy whatever amount of material than can be bought.

Building estimates varies from area to area (the design of your building will also determin the cost), the best thing i'll suggest is to ask for estimates from at least 3 independent builders, it'll give you an idea of how much the project will cost, also try and source out the building materials yourself to keep the cost down

Any father who even think about such needs his head checked out, i'm actually feeling nauseas as i'm typing, i thought this only happens in nollywood movies.

I know this can be hard to believe but it happens, i've heard of a case where over £20,000 was credited in the wrong account, but according to the law here in england which i'm sure it's the same every where, you're not meant to touch it as the bank will ask for it back as soon as the error is realised, depending on the bank, it can be turned into a loan you'll have to pay back if you said you've used the money, but if you don't oblige, debt collectors will then be on your case constantly writing, phoning and visiting, if you still don't respond it will go to court which after the bailiff will then visit to take your stuff, even if you move address, you can still easily be traced, this could also greatly affect your credit rating in future.

I quite agree with you thirdeye, the number of the disadvantages is quite higher than the advantages, but when these disadvantages are weighed against the savings one would make, this still makes building quite an attractive option compared to buying. One of the most important thing to do before building a house is to get equipped with enough knowledge on the things that could possibly go wrong and then try and reduce or eliminate those risks, it requires a lot of planning

Was the N520,000 quotation for full fence for the 2 plots or just to secure it? It can't be right if it's for the full fence, i personally would have thought that precast fence would cost more than ordinary fence, considering that specialist has to do it. The cost will differs as it's will depend on the design chosen, the best thing to do his to get different quotations on different designs (from different specialists).
