I am looking for someone who can design a logo/branding for a company. The company is a start up and is called FORKS & FINGERS. We are a corporate and events catering company . We specialize in West Indian, Soul Food, English and African Cuisine. The logo should be vibrant, colourful and must be adaptable to the web and print. This could be the start of a long partnership if work is impressive. Thanks |
@Poster Amateur photoshop job, this pics are not real!! |
Dont create a ceiling for yourself, Knowledge , my friend, is infinite. One of the biggest elements of success is to always strive to be the best at whatever you do. The sky is the limit. If you want to learn vb.net, keep learning, even when you think you are the best, |
The religion of Abraham was ISLAM;Help me out here, if all of this guys, Jesus, Abraham,Moses lived before muhammad who founded islam, how could they have been muslim duh? |
aideewhite got it right!! This is not about MFM or any church or christianity for that mattaer. It is about the poster not being able to maintain peace in his home, what you, @poster , need is not nairaland, what you need is a marraige counsellor! |
Gentleflwr , you will need to do a little bit of studying. Google the phrase "Website accessibility" and read as much as you can on it. I addition, google "search engine optimisation tips and tutorials". These should give you all the information you need. |
What exactly are you looking for, A document management system or an application that combines web functionality and DMS, do you have a budget? |
@dueal I do apologise if i sounded rude, you made it sound so simplistic it may lure the questioner into a false sense of security. you must accept that there are thousands of people out there who think that one of the easiest and quickest ways of making a fast buck is to become a "web designer" and its important to let people know that just like any other profession, it takes sweat, disipline etc etc |
@Mardi Gras There are some fundamental things you need to know and make decisions on. Are you looking to be a web designer or a web developer. As a web designer, you basically need to have a creative flair and some, however little, experience in graphic design. You will need to learn the fundamentals of the internet, how it works, how browsers work, screen resolutions, usability , accessibility. Some of it will come with experience and some you learn from he onset. You will also need to learn to code in HTML alongside using tools like photoshop, fireworks, illustrator and maybe dreamweaver. In other words, a web designer basically creates the front end that you see on your browser. A web developer is mor concerned with the functionality of a site and more importantly, the back end. what drives the site in the background. This is where you will need to lear along with HTML, server side languages like, asp.net c# or vb.net, php, ruby on rails, java etc. Good knowledge of databases and transact sql will be very helpful as most websites today are transactional. Its such a wide field i could go on and on but i hope this helps you! |
@Dueal Dont you think it would be at least humane not to say anything if you are not sure of what you are saying. Please do not mislead the person who asked the question.!!!! |
Candylips, the question you have asked is like saying you want someone who can build a building, what kind, skyscraper, shed, bungalow, you get the picture? |
My 2 pennies worth. You may have all available certification in all existing programming languages that exis and in fact know them very well. That knowledge will be useless to you if you are not creative, able to think out of the box, able to aptly apply the knowledge you have. That is the problem we have in nigeria, a lot of people have the knowledge butcan they apply it, can they be innovative with it?, can they be creative with it? maybe its time we started teaching ouselves how to think(application of knowledge) and not what to think(knowlwdge full stop)! |
Silly question!! ![]() |
I will be very blunt here with you my friend. I think its a shame that all the skills you may possess have been wasted on producing something that is instantly recognisable as someone elses work! ie facebook. Without logging into the site, i can see that you certainly have the skills and the ideas. Please move away from creating versions and be creative and original. You set the benchmark for others to follow. You can do it. Pepsi is similar to Coke in a few ways but it is very different in a lot of ways. see what i mean, You can borrow creative ideas but you must always put your own stamp on whatever you come up with! Keep at it my man, i know you have it in you!! |
What planet are you guys from!!!!!, why would you want to slap a woman anyway! |
Yeah, indeed!, i sincerely believe now that these old fogies like Tam David West are almost certainly sufferring from some kind of senile disease that affects their ability to reason. Lets agree , for the sake of argument abacha was not a thief, In the same statement, this old fool says the same Abacha doled out $10 million to his former Minister of Finance, Chief Anthony Ani, when the latter complained to him that he was broke.where did the money come from, his wages as head of state ![]() ? |
I am not normally in the habit of shhoting people dow but having had a look at your so called "revolutionary" magazine, i think i owe it to you to say something. It is so sad that we all see things ben done well outside nigeria and in many cases inside too but istead of learning the craft or the how to's etc, our first instinct is to copy and as a result end up with a product so mediocre it defies belief. I cannot begin to critique your site( it will be a waste of time) My advice to you will be to ; 1. Go and learn how to design and develop websites PROPERLY 2. Learn the art of journalism if you are going to produce an online magazine. 3. Research your content properly 4. Learn how to market your product. Please do not see this as an attempt to shoot you down. It is not. If you are going to do well , please take the advice. |
Why are u still using VS2003 anyway, Yes u will run into a lot of issues when u want to combine VS2003 with Vista(Home Basic!) and SQL Server 2005 I would say its easier to switch to VS2005/asp.net 2.0 |
With all due respect to the last poster, you dont have an intranet site running, what you have on an xampp instalation are the basic tools to create and run an intranet site ie Apache, MySQL, PHP & PEAR, Perl, ProFTPD, phpMyAdmin, OpenSSL, GD, Freetype2, libjpeg, libpng, gdbm, zlib, expat, Sablotron, libxml, Ming, Webalizer, pdf class, ncurses, mod_perl, FreeTDS, gettext, mcrypt, mhash, eAccelerator, SQLite and IMAP C-Client. You now need to put your site together or basically download a cms or intranet system from the web , in this case, built with PHP,. Good examples are systems like JOOMLA, PHPNUKE etc, once you have set this up on your web server, you can then follow the steps quoted by the last poster Good Luck! |
Hey xdos I would not say you need any special software to build an intranet. An intranet is basically a website set up and hosted within a network and is only accessible to users within that network. There is a lot of info on the net and there are also proprietary templates, free and paid for that you can access easily. Are you knowledgeable about serverside scripting eg php, c#, vb.net etc databases? mysql, sql server etc web servers, iis, apache etc? you will need them! |
