This is not an attempt to give a definite answer to the question of whether Nigeria will break up or not, it is rather an insight into the reason why Nigeria came into existence in the first instance, that is why the amalgamation of January 1st 1914 took place. I believe the reason for the existence of anything will determine the continued existence of that thing, the purpose of the creation of Nigeria will long way determine if Nigeria will break up or not. Before the emergence of the British into Africa, places in Nigeria were out rightly independent in terms of their economy, politic and they related with one another. They also had relations with nations of Arab and Europe, but towards the mid-nineteenth century things changed when the Europeans became thirsty for power. The Europeans could only become powerful by the control of the lands of other people and hence Africa became their target. Since the connection point between Britain and Nigeria was Lagos, Lagos was the first place to catch. Eventually Lagos became a British colony. Before Lagos became a colony, there was a great resistance from the Oba of Lagos- Oba Kosoko but on December 26, 1851 Lagos was attacked by the Royal Navy Warship and Oba Kosoko was defeated (Oba Kosoko fled to Epe). Ten years later Lagos became a Colony of Britain and the British placed the Oba of Lagos as at that time (Oba Dosunmu) on a pension of 1030 pounds per annum. On August 6, 1861 the Treaty of Cession was signed, Lagos became a Colony of Britain. At about 1885, Lagos which was controlled by Britain under the Leadership of Mr. H.S. Freeman had economic relations with the Niger Delta and this led to Britain proclaiming the Oil Rivers Protectorate. In 1893, the protectorate became the Niger Coast Protectorate and in 1900 it became the Protectorate of Southern Nigeria. The indigenes of the Niger Delta resisted the British so much that the British were not accepted until 1918. On May 1, 1906, the Colony and Protectorate of Lagos was merged with the Protectorate of Southern Nigeria and it became the Protectorate of Southern Nigeria. On January 1, 1900, the Protectorate of Northern Nigeria was formed after the Royal Niger Company had moved to the North and exercised little authority in the North. It was at this time that Colonel Lugard was made the High Commissioner of the Northern Protectorate. Lugard met a Jihad in the north which Usman Dan Fodio had started in 1804. Lugard fought with Emirs and was not really resisted in most part of the North. And then in 1903, Colonel Lugard made a proposal to the government in Britain to join the Protectorate of Southern Nigeria with that of the North. His reason was that the Northern Protectorate was not financially buoyant to cater for itself while the Southern Protectorate made surplus in terms of finance, he encouraged that the surplus made from the Southern Protectorate should be sent to the Northern Protectorate until the Northern Protectorate was able to stand itself. To show readiness to join the two protectorates, railway line was constructed from Ebute Metta Lagos to go into the North. In 1907, Lugard was posted to Asia and later was returned to Nigeria in 1912. He was made Governor of the Colony and Protectorate of Southern Nigeria on October 23, 1912 and was made Governor General of the Protectorate of Northern Nigeria on October 24, 1912. On May 9, 1912, Lugard sent a proposal to the British government that the two protectorates be amalgamated and on November 22, 1913, his proposal was approved. The approval of the proposal of the amalgamation of Nigeria was to take effect on 1st January, 1914. Despite the amalgamation, Lugard ruled over the two protectorates independent of one another. Years later, the Southern Protectorate was divided into Western Nigeria and Eastern Nigeria. Few years after amalgamation, when Nigerians were becoming visible in politics, few of them spoke of the defects of the amalgamation. Sir. Ahmadu Bello said, “the mistake of 1914 has now come to fore”, he hence called for the amalgamation to be reversed. Chief Obafemi Awolowo also referred to Nigeria as a mere geographical location. Alhaji Tafawa Balewa was not left out, he said, “East for the Easterners, North for the Northerners, West for the Westerners, Nigeria for us all.”. It is quite obvious that the amalgamation of Nigeria was never the wish of Nigerians themselves because they opposed even the British rule, especially the people of Eastern Nigeria- till today the Easterners do not want to be a part of the British formed country. The reason why Nigeria was amalgamated is achieved already, it was to make Southern Nigeria (The West and East) to support Northern Nigeria to be independent. Since the purpose has been achieved (Northern Nigeria can stand financially today), a threat of break -away is unavoidable. If Nigeria must stand, we need to look for a more tangible reason to make Southern Nigeria (West and East) connected to Northern Nigeria. Even Lugard ruled Northern Nigeria and Southern Nigeria separately, he never saw them as one. Please mod move to the appropriate section |

Kudos to OAU fire fighters for coming around on time to save the prestigious Amphitheatre, if not for the quick response and courage of OAU fire station what we are saying now is not what we will be saying. According to the fire fighters, the fire incident started at the generator house under Amphitheatre. Grubby restaurant (the formal rotunda) generator spark while working and result to fire outbreak due to flammable materials kept in the generator house by unknown persons. The fire fighters therefore urged the OAU community to always call them, when there is any fire incident whether big or small. The church does not speak about some topics, because the church think it is too holy to discuss or too dirty to deliberate on. One of those topics that the church has found too dirty is the topic of sex. When you stand before a congregation (a group of Christians) and tell them you want to speak on sex, you start to discover the women looking at you with swallowing eyes, even the men will start adjusting their glasses and the pastor is going to forbid you from climbing the stage again. Some believe that speaking about sex will corrupt their children. You might even hear some of them say, “sister, we can’t allow you speak about sex to our children. Please don’t corrupt this generation.” One begin to wonder which generation they are talking about, this generation that is already corrupt or the one yet to come. If corruption will stop in the world, it must start from the church. So many young girls and boys face the issues of sex almost every day and they find it difficult to handle them. Praise Fowowe, Deitrick Haddon, Oprah Winfrey all had molestations as kids, and they were really cheated because they knew not what to do or who to run to. Some of these people who object the teaching of sex in church may even have their children go through sex challenges now- someone or something forcing, tempting, and luring them to sex. Teaching sex to youths in the church will bring them to the true understanding of what sex is. We live in a very curious generation that is even full with images, texts, videos and sounds of sex. If our youths don’t get to understand it from us, they are going to turn to the world and learn from them. There is this secular film released sometimes ago of a girl who couldn’t get to talk about sex with her mum and then she decided to learn from friends who professionally thought her what to do to lose her virginity. People in church keep complaining of the prevalence of premarital sex and what has the church done to curb this act. It is better for the church to keep quiet if the church can actually not provide a solution. But there are absolutely lots of solution that the church can give and part of them is teaching the real concept of sex. Some funny parents are confident because they carry out regular vagina checks for their daughters and they never know that it is not necessary for their daughter to lose the hymen before she can be said to have lost her virginity. Youths are becoming wiser than their parents. We have anal sex, pornography, sex chat, nude sharing, fingering, masturbation, toy use, lesbianism, gay sex, MouthAction among others as part of the sexual immoralities that happen in church today even among the older ones. It is time to teach our children especially our daughters what to do with their bodies, even in the sight of sex. When Christ sent us into the world, He sent us to the cosmos- to the world system, to change the workd system. Let us teach our children the real things in the Church before the devil teaches them. Christ love the girls. SOURCE: facebook.com/chosengirlng |

Nobody reads introduction except that is why they came for your site (which is rare). All the same, one should put up a good introduction. But not at the detriment of the contents of the site. If he does not do Altar Calls, I don't think he is real. And if he is doing some spiritual gymnastics with the Anointing, I don't think he is real. |
What is a Cult? There is a warning that Christ gave us over and over again, which is particularly important to those just beginning the Christian life – or anybody else for that matter, and that warning tells us beware of false prophets. By definition a cult means control. By their fruits you will know them (Matthew 7:20). Once they get hold of you, they keep you under their thumb, control your money, what you do, where you go, what you think, and who your friends are. Their evil effect is to destroy self-reliance and breed dependency. Their leaders are not shepherds. They are wardens, religious policemen. Some teach the Scriptures, but turn the Bible into chains, standing truth on its head, like the Scribes and Pharisees. They use the Gospel of deliverance to bind their converts, falsifying the very spirit and purpose of the message. There are sad souls who lack true faith and accept handcuffs to gain a sense of security. Jesus was not a spiritual policeman. He did not discipline the disciples. That is not what disciple means. He never ordered them about, interfered, or dictated in daily affairs. They came and went as and when they wished. It was all left to their wisdom and discretion. That is how Christ deals with us. Give Jesus our lives and He makes them our own. If we blindly obey a church leader, we are still responsible before God for what we do. No man should appropriate to himself authority over others. Scripture forbids leaders to be lords over those entrusted to [them] (1 Peter 5:3). Jesus said, “One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren” (Matthew 23: .
