IhateYouMan: The US and EU will cripple the Russian economy in no time. Watch this space. They will be cautious of the kind of sanctions to impose on Russia. If the sanction is heavy, Russia will likely launch full invasion. If the sanctions are light. Russia will continue putting pressure on Ukraine, which will have negative effect on her economy. At the end she will have to drop the NATO membership ambition. |

Some people do not see anything wrong with it they will support it because they are anti-west.
I am done with this topic I need to stop commenting on foreign politics here after all many nairalanders supported the twice impeached disgrace president so how can they even know better.
Mr dermmy I enjoy your perspectives on foreign politics I usually read your post and I will always be ready to be schooled by you. I have nothing against democracy. I believe Russia will do the same thing that the US is doing right now if she is the sole dominant power in the world. Like China. They may even be worse. So i am strictly against unipolarism. The world is too big to have one master. The world needs masters. These masters will checkmates themselves and the world will be a better place. |

Thank you for the compliment You welcome! Kindly check this out... Zelenszky was interview by Christine Amapour of CNN on Saturday. The Ukrainian President told CNN that NATO partners needed to clarify a timeline on which the country could join the military alliance. "Ukraine needs security guarantees," Zelensky said. "We are smart people, we are not narrow minded. We understand there are lots of different risks because of NATO, there is no consensus around other allies, everyone is saying there is some distance that we need to go between Ukraine and NATO that we need to walk. All we are saying is tell us how much time does it take to complete this distance?" In earlier remarks to the conference, Zelensky posed a question asking why Ukraine had not been permitted to join NATO. "We are told the doors are open.. but the strangers are still not allowed," he said. Moscow sees the growing support for Ukraine from NATO -- in terms of weaponry, training and personnel -- as a threat to its own security. Putin has also called for specific legal agreements that would rule out any further NATO expansion eastwards towards Russia's borders, saying the West has not lived up to its previous verbal assurances. |

Russia's annexation of Crimea, wanting to support separatists in Luhansk and Donetsk will only make the Ukrainians more resolved in their need for protection from the bully, Russia.
Ukraine will join NATO if not now in the distant future they don't see Russia as a friend and the history of the soviet union is not one that will make them bend to Putin The Ukrainians will not determine Ukraine NATO membership. It is NATO and i don't think NATO will accept Ukrainian proposal. For your information. Ukraine needs NATO membership now than ever. If the West don't have the stomach to accept her now. It will never happen again. By the way, this is my first time of meeting a female that is so much interested in Foreign politics. By the way, I like your insight. |

Why are you hyping Putin? He is not stupid. He made demands and he will get them. I just don't want a unipolar world. Unipolarism brings corruption. A world that has two, three or four masters rather than one is what we need. The US has gone against the UN to invade several countries. She has used Military means to democratise several countries especially in the middle east. In her bid to democratise the Islamic states, middle east has been ruined. If not for Russia, Syria would have been in the same state with Libya. The US has killed some many people & destroy countries all in the name of democracy. Unipolarism can not work in our modern world. The earlier you know this, the better. |

It is going to be a world war crisis because he will go after other USSR former territories he needs to be stopped now.If the west sanctions Russian oligarchs that use money for war and not her economy Russia will lose. The US/NATO are not handicapped they just don't want to be interventionist anymore so they are trying to be diplomatic.
Please stop talking out of point Putin wants the USSR stop sympathising with the cause of a dictator if Putin wants respect he should respect the sovereignty of Ukraine and embrace the fact that the USSR is dead.
My goodness did you see NATO force former states of the USSR to join or they went on their own will, majority of Ukrainians want NATO and the fact that Putin is still nostalgic about the USSR is enough proof of that have you asked yourself why former states of the USSR are interested in joining the west why not ask yourself that since you think Russia is so good that they are running away from it or they should swallow their will because of one man called Putin. Give me a break Reviving the USSR is impossible. The baltic states are now part of NATO. If Putin tries to take back the Baltic states which are now part of NATO, this might lead to a world war. Putin is not stupid. Engage the West in a nuclear war, for what exactly? Putin does not gamble. |

Putin wants the soviet union back and if he gets Ukraine he is coming for other former states of the USSR.
If the US and its allies don't respond swiftly and stop deceiving themselves about diplomacy Putin is going to invade sovereign nations because he does not believe in their right to exist that is dictatorship nobody should laud this NATO/US are handicap as it stands. He has not invaded. They can't sanction Russia, because if they do. Russia will have nothing to loss if she invades eventually. They also can not use military means, because the situation can quickly change from Russia-Ukraine crisis to world war. Russia is not interested in reviving the USSR. USSR is gone. All Putin wants is respect. If NATO halts it's expansion Russia will be automatically be at ease. The fear of being alone is what Russia is afraid. Imagine if all the countries in eastern Europe join NATO. NATO is a military alliance. It was created to counter USSR. Now there is no more USSR. Russia is not as powerful as the USSR. Why the continuous expansion? Which threat is NATO trying to counter? The enemy of a country on it's door step is a serious security concern. |

In few hours from now, Russia will likely send lightly armed Russian troops into the Donbas. Something similar to the little green men, that were sent to Crimea.
One thing people don't know about Puttin is how smart he is. He does not gamble. He knew very well that he will get what he want. He is a master planner. Every event that is unfolding now has been carefully and well planned.

BritishNaija: Why do you like fo argue brother? Oya read below. In November 2015, it was reported S-400 will be deployed to Syria, along with the contingent of Russian troops and other military hardware in the course of the air campaign conducted by the Russian forces on the side of the Syrian government.[107] However, those claims were refuted by Russia.[108] On 25 November 2015, the Russian government announced it would deploy S-400s in Syria as a response to the downing of its Su-24M jet by Turkey.[109] On 26 November 2015, deployment of S-400 air defense systems to Syria was underway.[110] The first S-400 unit was activated at the Khmeimim Air Base in Latakia Governorate.[111] In April and July 2017, a second S-400 unit was activated 13 km northwest of Masyaf, Hama Governorate.[111]
The Israeli Air Force's F-16 and F-35 successfully flew over areas protected by S-400 and Pantsir SAM in Syria and bombed Iran-backed Hezbollah militia based in Latakia.[112] [113] According to Guardian newspaper, Russia operates a naval base in the port of Tartus, 85km to the south near the port of Latakia.[114] Considering the engagement range advertised by the Russian-made S-400, the S-400 should have engaged Israeli aircraft. Russian fighter jets nor the S-400 missile system ever attempted to intercept Israel’s F-35I Adir stealth jet.[115] Several media outlets, including Turkish media, raised the question about the combat capability of the S-400 air defence system.[116][117] Israeli Defence Force's released a photograph of F-35's flight path over the S-400 air defence system.[118][119] The Royal Air Force also conducted a SEAD mission over areas protected by the S-400 air defence system.[120] Don't get me wrong there are S-400 systems in Syria. But they belong to the Russia federation not Syria. The Khmeimim Air Base in Syria is Russian main military base in Syria. Russia never sold any S-400 to Syrian govt. |

Only one S-400 was delivered to Turkey Which have not been activated, because Erdogan actually lost faith in it, seeing how Isreal F-35s conduct strikes on targets in syria being guarded by russian S-400s and yet no reply from the S-400s, up to 200 strikes we are talking about.
Or do I have to tell you too how syrian army was complaining how useless the Defence System russia sold them was? Lolz You said Turkey received one S-400 from Russia. But Turkey actually received two S-400. Turkey has never requested for Patriots defense system since the day the S-400 systems were delivered. The S-400 has detection range of 600km, that can not cover the entire country. The S-400 in Syria is strictly for the protection of the Russian military base only. Syrian military S-200 is the Syrian government front line defence system. |

F-35 have been deployed several times by Isreal against russian S-400 in syria, and the radar saw nothing all the time, talkless of to track it.
And reason turky opt for S-400 was because of deplomatic issues with Trump, and they were removed from the program.

Putin have no intention of flying over USA ........ And for those who think that USA is prepared for war against Russia, let me remind you that USA does not have an anti missiles defence against an hypersonic missiles....... jswitch: This is one of the most reasonable comments I've seen on this thread. Most of those guys are just moved by their imagination and wishes.
The US and NATO have been ignoring Russia's security concerns in Eastern Europe for quite some time now. What Putin is interested in is for US and NATO to address his concerns about their advancement in Eastern Europe.
US and NATO will not fight Russia military if they attack Ukraine (because Ukraine is not yet a member so they don't have the obligation to defend them), but, they will do everything to cripple Russia's economy through sanctions- this is one fact that Russia can't shy away from. Russia's allied like China, Iran, North Korea can't not meet Russia's needs economically if the West decides to impose tough economic sanctions on Russia.
Right now, what Putin wants is for the West to address his concerns, they've been ignoring him for too long hence the need to take this bold step that he is taking right now. If he doesn't act now, NATO under the guidance of US will cunningly and gradually sorround Russia with missiles.
Remember that China just like Russia has been planning an invasion of Taiwan. But that will be a different ball game entirely because, unlike Ukraine, US has a defense pact with Taiwan. The NATO article 5 which says an attack on a member is an attack on all. We only work to deter any form of aggression against NATO members. But when the threat of war between a major nuclear state and NATO is real. The chance that the alliance will break is extremely high. Some countries like Hungary, Croatia, Montenegro e.t.c will let their citizens get NUKES because of the US miscalculation in europe. Infact you will be shocked that the likes of Germany and France will pulled out. Because the two will be the major target in a nuclear war. In reality the article 5 will not work. |

It will not be funny if Putin dares attack Ukraine..US is on a high alert... according to US defence minster he said "this could be our chance" China is not ready for war now, Putin is only playing a mind game cos US and other European countries are interested in this dispute. You should ask the general how they intend to fight Russia. Do you think the US have the capacity to travel thousands of kilometers to europe to fight Russia? You need to think again. Or you think the US can nuke Russia without Russia returning the favour? Do you even think Russia can be invaded? Even without Nuke, Russia still a threat. |
