Christianity EtcCounting Your Blessings, What Is Your Greatest Miracle Of the year 2013 by olumyde5(op):
Hello Guys, As the year is gradually coming to a wonderful end I know we all have ups and downs, high and low moments this year, no matter how down or low you might be at the moment, as long as you are reading this God is definitely faithful to you.

Well if God is to charge each and every one of us for the oxygen we breathe in, am sure our bank account would have been red or better still most of us will not be alive by now or if God should charge us per seconds (just like the Telecoms company) for the words that come out of our mouth, most of us probably would just be acting like deaf and dumb because we would have accumulated so much bill. Maybe you are thinking that you fail to acquire the latest sports car in town, remember some folks don't even have the cash to purchase volkswagen beetle (or to buy a new shoe). You might complain about your present job, but remember some folks you graduated together that are even far better than you don't even have a job. You might not have found the bone of your bone, dont have enough savings and list goes on and on but remember it is because you are alive that you have plans for your life, if you are not alive to see this present moment definitely all the plans may as well go into the drain. The Bible says there is hope for the person that is join to the living, a living dog is better than a dead lion. Common cheer up, you are an achiever, think deep and you will be able to see what God has done for you

Not to bore you too much with my talk, the purpose of opening this thread is for us to share what God has done in this past year 2013, for me I made a lot of travels he say me through, wrote and passed couple of exams, and so many other numerous things that I cant really say for now He's been very faithful.

But one wow moment I will never forget was when hot groundnut oil splashed on the whole of my right fingers when I was to fry plantain in my house. I had sliced the plantain and put the vegetable oil on fire (waiting for the oil to bleach), I went back to the room and I was browsing on ma phone, by the time I went back to the kitchen, there was smoke every where as the oil was above its boiling point. I was so much in a hurry that I used my bare hand (I forgot that it wasn't rice I was trying to prepare) to put the plantain into the fry pan (containing hot vegetable oil). I shouted JESUS!!! the pain was so sore but there was no one to comfort me, I ran to the bathroom and try to calm down the effect with cold water then I went to the room to try apply some cream on my hand but I didn't see one on time but I did saw an anointing oil (from church) in my wardrobe and I pour it in large quantity on my hand instead. I felt the burning pain throughout the night but miracle was perfected when I woke up in the morning and it was as if nothing happen to the fingers.

I already shared the testimony with my brethren, I just thought I share with you guys, let's count our blessings and what's your own greatest miracle of 2013.

Happy New Year in Advance

FamilyRe: To My Future Husband by olumyde5(m): 11:00am On Dec 27, 2013
coolmoon500: Hello guys, compliments of the season to everyone, hope everyone is doing great.

I'm actually feeling led to post here, though I don't post much at all,but for some reason,I woke up this morning and was feeling abit incomplete, hence coming here to seek some advice on how to live through it all.
I understand that I would get encouraging comments as well as immature and ridiculous comments, but all in all,its the grace of God that has kept us all sane and alive till date.

I never thought I'd be the lady staying calm and waiting almost endlessly for the one I would spend the rest of my life with.the one who would one day become my husband and the father of my children.my best friend and love.

I'm generally not the woman you would see often on d streets as I am mostly indoors,I was brought up to be around home, and as such days I have tried going out on my own hasn't been fruitful.I end up spending a few minutes out, then head back home,I also have limited friends because most of the ones I call friends are away in far cities and countries. The few I have around are mostly all married and don't hang out much either.

I am a christian and have noticed that I have a thing for christian men who are filled with the word of God.needless to say that I would eventually be gettin into ministry in my older years, and every prophetic word I have heard about my marriage has pointed to the fact that the man God has prepared for me would also most likely be in ministry and a huge God lover.

Now the thing is where on earth is this man?I am tired of waiting and I don't want to make a mistake.I am in my late 20's slowly approachin 30 soon and would like to settle within the next one year.

My family is puttin a lot of pressure on me and I am starting to crumble under the pressure of havin to remain sane while waiting for my own.I have indeed met a lot of other men who I dare not settle with.eg party rockers, drinkers, womanizers and the rest.does it mean that all the good men are taken?

Asides waiting,I also want to feel loved, wanted and appreciated.I want him so much already.

I am a professional lady,I am yoruba,I am gentle, kind hearted and want to continue serving God.

what can I do to remain calm?

how long more would I need to wait?

does it mean that there is no other Godly man out there?

PhonesRe: Dear Tecno , Thanks But Your Phones Are Crap! by olumyde5(m): 3:01pm On Dec 23, 2013
Kelvindwaplord: Dear Tecno , the year 2013 is almost over and i'ld like to congratulate you for your contribution in the smartphone market this year. I'ld also like to commend your efforts towards providing nigerians with android phones at a cheaper rate. My mum used to tell me that ''The Best Things In Life Dont Come Cheap''. There is no doubt your phones are one of the cheapest in the market , but they're not the best. In my opinion they are 'Crap' compared to the phones created by other tech companies.. Perhaps you can prove me wrong with this reasons.

•Tecno Phones Have No Special Features : Yes Your phones have no special features!. Your phones are not water and dust proof , they dont have gorilla glass , worst of all they dont even have OTA upgrade!. Tell me , which of your phones can you compare to :

•A Samsung Galaxy S4 That has a special app called 'S-translator'. With s translator you can convert your voice to any language of your choice.

•A Nexus 5 that has an unscratchable gorilla glass screen. Or

•A Sony Xperia z1 that is both dust and water proof

https://dailytechmedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/xperia-water-proof.png ??

Obviously none of your phones can compare because you're not thinking towards that direction , all you care about is releasing 'Look A like' phones every Month!. So please give me a reason why i should buy your phone rather than to just stick to my Nokia 3310

•They Are Products Of A Stagnant Company: yes , Tecno is a stagnant company!. We've heard lots about samsung creating a smartphone with a curved screen , creating wristwatches that acts and performs the same functions as a phone and we're even hearing about samsung's plan to create a 'foldable display' phone in 2014. However , we havent heard about any ongoing technological projects from tecno. I know you might want to say your company is still 'growing' but the truth is that the rate in which technology is advancing , you have to up your game or else you get kicked out of the market. I'm not suprised about the kinds of phones you produce because thats what is expected from a stagnant company like yours.

•Your Devices Lack OTA Upgrade: a lot has been said about tecno phones lacking the ability to upgrade it operating system. Am really suprised that nothing has been done about this. Is it that you guys dont have capable engineers to fix this or whathuh Any reasonable company that values its customers would have found a solution to this but i'm really suprised that nothing has been done so far.

BBM now works on android but my friend's tecno d3 cant use BBM because he cant upgrade his phone's operating system. To me , thats total crap and i'ld rather not use a phone at all than to buy a tecno android.

Nigerians have fallen in love with you and they'ld like to see more from your company or else , dont be suprised if your phones goes into extinsion sooner than expected.

I am a choir member, glory be to God cool but believe me, I face a lot of temptations from the feminine world. Why? Maybe because I am so endowed cool ladies, believe it or not thats your problem angry

I'm the type that search around the church for beautiful girls, trust me, its lucrative, sorry I mean interesting (full stop) angry

So, as my satellite was rotating around the church, suddenly, I sighted this girl (not that fine I must say) she did one stupid thing that got my attention undecided, she winked @ me shocked. I thought it was a mistake or a joke, I had to look away! angry... Suddenly, somebody say suddenly......... undecided something told me inside to look @ her again to confirm if this girl was a joke or not.... I looked and she did the same thing angry. With considerate velocity, I looked away because I could no longer behold her ugly face undecided That was the time I knew she meant business! angry

Where I was seated, I began to practise what I'd tell her, should she come to me after service angry. My supposed silent practise became so loud that a guy sitting beside me suspected I was saying something( imagine, that ugly lady wants to turn me to a mad person angry ) anyways cool, I told the guy it was nothing but never stop practisingundecided, @ the end of the day, we were done with service buh she didnt show up!! God save her!!!! angry (damn, such a wasted time practising) So, girls stop your madness in CHURCH angry ten Q[/b]

CrimeRe: Murdered Nigerian: UK Police Place £10,000 Bounty On Killer by olumyde5(m): 4:19pm On Nov 27, 2013
Rednaxelot: The London Metropolitan Police has offered £10,000 reward for information that will help track down and arrest a convicted murderer on the run for killing a Nigerian student in London.

Lerone Boye, 27, the alleged murderer, was sentenced to 28 years last December for the murder of 17-year-old Nigerian, Kelvin Chibueze.

Boye had stabbed Chibueze to death at a birthday party in Ilford in August 2011. He has not been seen since he escaped from the John Howard Centre in Kenworthy Road in Homerton on October 16.

Scotland Yard said there is “some intelligence to suggest” that Boye may be in the east London area . He is also known to have links to Barking, Newham and Ilford.

The London police officers describe Boye as a “black man who is 5 feet 10 inches tall and of slim build.

He had a distinctive horseshoe shape scar on his right cheek and a gold tooth in his upper row of teeth.

When last seen, he was said to be wearing a grey-blue sweat-shirt with a grey vest over the top. He was also wearing grey jogging bottoms. He had short hair and a goatee beard.

Members of the public are advised not to approach Boye, but to call 999 if they see him.

Four killers stabbed Chibueze to death after chasing him out of a nightclub brandishing champagne and brandy bottles.

Kelvin Chibueze, 17, rushed out of a private party at an east London venue after he was attacked in a mass brawl involving knives and bar stools.

The youth tripped outside a supermarket and the rival gang members sat on his legs to stop him running away before stabbing him repeatedly with a foot-long blade.

Dale Williams, 21, Lerone Boye, 25, Hugo Nwankwo, 18, and Roger Damali, 31, denied murder, but were convicted after a trial at the Old Bailey.

A judge condemned Britain’s ‘endemic’ knife culture as he jailed the four members of the Barking-based Harts Lane street gang for 93 years in total.

A fifth man, deaf-mute Ibrahim Zakari, 21, who threw a bottle at Kelvin during the chase, was earlier jailed for two years, but walked free because he had already served more than a year in jail on remand.

CareerBetween Academic Skills And Fields - A Must Read by olumyde5(op): 4:14pm On Nov 26, 2013
This recent piece, written by Todd Hirsch, the Calgary-based chief economist of ATB Financial and author of "The Boiling Frog Dilemma: Saving Canada from Economic Decline", will serve our young graduates as they navigate the job market, even in this most difficult time. The message is simple: whatever your hand finds to do, begin from there. I am well aware that the Nigerian terrain is quite different from the Canadian one on which the author based his thesis but the inherent lesson cuts across boundaries as it simply teaches that fresh graduates should be wise. Here is what Todd Hirsch wrote:

Dear Applicant: Thank you for your letter inquiring about positions in our economics department. At this time, we have no openings. However, I will keep your letter on file should an appropriate job become available. At least, that's what I am required to tell you. But here's what I'd really like to say to you - and to every recent economics graduate who sends me the same letter.

First, I know it's lousy for bachelor of arts graduates looking for a job "in their field." Twenty years ago, it was lousy for me too. It's almost always lousy. In a way, it's kind of supposed to be - a small rite of passage to welcome you into the working world. It's sort of like being froshed.

But if I may, I would like to offer some advice.

Don't be too fixated on landing a job "in your field." The truth is, you don't yet have a field. In university, you majored in economics, but that may or may not be your eventual field of professional work. The world is full of possibilities; limiting your search to an economist job is a terribly narrow way to start out.

You chose to study economics, which doesn't necessarily imply that you'll be an economist. Rather, it implies you have an aptitude for problem solving. You're probably good at analyzing data. You can see different sides of an argument. And I'll bet you're excellent at finding solutions to problems. These are essential skills required in hundreds of rewarding (and lucrative) fields of professional employment.

Your ultimate field may actually be in sales for a biotech firm. It may be analyzing crime statistics for the city police. It may even be a rock star (just ask Mick Jagger). The world is full of "fields."

What you're facing is a common problem: BA graduates confuse their major area of study with what they expect to be their eventual careers. It doesn't matter if it's a degree in history, film studies, sociology, or comparative feminist literature.

You've successfully navigated your way through a four-year degree. Congratulations! That is no small accomplishment. But now you're embarking on a totally different program of learning - one that will last the rest of your life. It's called "What am I here for?"

That may sound all spiritual and existential, but don't let it throw you off. It just means that your challenge from here on is to find what you're good at, and keep getting better and better at it.

An apology, by the way, on behalf of society: We are sorry if we led you to believe that attending university would land you a good job. That's not actually true. A polytechnic college will do this - and the job opportunities available right now are fantastic. A good option for you might be to continue post-university studies at a polytechnic.

But your university education, at least at the bachelor of arts level, was never intended to land you a job. It was intended to make you a more complete thinker. It was intended to teach you how to absorb complex information and make reasoned arguments. It was, quite simply, intended to teach you how to learn. Those are skills that you'll use in any field of work.

Open your mind to all sorts of job possibilities. Don't be too proud to start out in the service industry, or where you might get your fingernails dirty. Talk to as many people as you can about their career paths. But never, ever, allow yourself to think you've wasted your time in university if you don't land a job as an economist.

Meanwhile, be encouraged and stay positive. And yes, I will keep your letter on file. But my guess is that when a position in my economics group eventually opens up, you'll no longer be available.
