Today marks one year since Adekunle Gold dropped his debut album “Gold“. The singer took to his Instagram page this morning to reflect on the journey so far, the highs and lows as well as those people he is most grateful for. He wrote: I’m in a reflective mood this morning as Gold turns 1. I know it’s only been a year but it feels like a lifetime of hard work hidden in my heart. I released it this day last year with a lot of uncertainty and nervousness and all I can say is God is good. I am not in this business to make disposable music, the goal is for our relationship to be timeless. For this same reason, it’s been a hard and noisy road to travel. Plenty opinions amiss. “You are too yoruba for our brand” “can’t you sing in english?”, “why don’t you do what this person is doing” … to say more is to give the nay sayers a voice. The voices that have mattered are the voices of my Igbo, Efik, Fulani, Hausa, East African, French, Ukrainian, Chinese, Italian, American, Irish friends singing along to words they can’t decode because my music itself, transcends language and they understand. “They” understand and I chose to listen to “they” that matter. For everyday that you discover your new fave song on the album and tell me about it, you show me that perhaps, I’m on to something. You, my friends are the wind under my wings. You prove to me daily that “slow and steady” still wins races. My dream has been to always be the sound to your happy or sad states, a soundtrack to your milestones, your coming together and your heartbreaks, do all this while being true to myself and you have allowed me just that and most importantly, you have allowed me to grow. For this, I am eternally grateful to every single one of you. Now to my loved ones, my family, Michael, Phillip, Oscar, Simi, Aunty Bukky and Olamide my dear dear brother, words will never be enough…Thank You. #IssaGoldAnniversary Source: http://trendshood.com/2017/07/issagoldanniversary-adekunle-gold-reflects-first-anniversary-debut-album/

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says it has traced N603m to Mrs Esther Habu, the wife of Mr Josiah Habu, who is the Director of the Bioresources Development Centre in Bayelsa State. Established in 2003 by the National Biotechnology Development Agency under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, BIODEC is an intervention programme of the Federal Government aimed at developing the natural resources of Nigeria for use in agriculture, health, environment and industry. BIODEC has about 25 centres across the country. According to the EFCC, investigations showed that Esther, whose husband is a director at the BIODEC branch in Bayelsa State, was given suspicious contracts even as a total sum of N603,000,000 was traced to her in different deals involving over 20 directors of BIODEC across the country. The anti-graft agency said in a statement by its spokesman, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, that about N70m was traced to her husband. The EFCC also arrested the Director-General of NABDA, Prof Lucy Ogbadu, who oversees all BIODEC branches across the country. Ogbadu allegedly received N23m from the slush fund. The statement read in part, “Operatives of the EFCC have arrested the serving Director-General of NABDA, Prof Lucy Ogbadu, for her alleged involvement in criminal conspiracy and diversion of public funds to the tune of N23m. “Ogbadu was arrested on Wednesday June 28 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, following her alleged link with the Bayelsa State Director of BIODEC, Mr Josiah Habu, who is being investigated by the EFCC in a case of fraudulent diversion of the sum of N75m. “Investigations by the EFCC showed that Ogbadu allegedly received the sum of N23m through a bank account belonging to the wife of Habu, Mrs Esther Habu, and admitted same in a voluntary statement made to the EFCC. “Further investigations have also shown that Mrs Habu is one of the contractors with BIODEC, Odi, Bayelsa State, and a total sum of N603m has been traced to her in different deals involving over 20 directors of BIODEC across the country.” The commission said Ogbadu’s link with all the alleged scams was being investigated, adding that she had been duly served with bail conditions while investigations continued. http://trendshood.com/2017/06/efcc-traces-n603m-to-civil-servants-wife/
