Music/Radio / Boomplay Releases Pre-order Feature by Oluwatoseen: 5:16pm On May 12, 2017
Boomplay Music, Africa’s fastest growing music streaming and download service, has introduced its pre-order feature to content providers, giving its users the opportunity to reserve personal copies of music from their favourite artistes before the music is released.

This is the first time in Africa, a music service will launch the pre-order feature, one that allows content providers to smile to the bank, as Boomplay Music launches yet another way to curb music piracy.

The pre-order feature is available on the latest version v3.1.1 launched on May 2. Users who are using an old version will need to upgrade their app to the latest version either via in-app upgrade or Google Play Store to start enjoying this feature.

With this new development, music lovers can now order for content by their favourite artistes by making payments before it is released, using the various payment options available on Boomplay Music app such as Airtime, Paga, PesaPal etc. Once payment is complete, the users will be notified on the release date.

Offering the pre-order feature puts Boomplay Music in a category of similar music services like iTunes, with the payment aspect positioning Boomplay at an obvious advantage since users can easily make payment using their mobile airtime.

Based on feedback accumulated from beta testers, Boomplay claims the pre-order feature will enable its users to stay ahead when it comes to music releases, thereby making them pacesetters in the industry, since they will always be the first to get, discover and consume new music as it drops.

Joe He, Director of Boomplay Music, stated that the pre-order feature was launched as a result of the many requests from content providers, who wanted to identify their true fans and get the opportunity to connect with them using data obtained through the pre-order sales.

He said: Real fans buy music and will not only look forward to new releases but will also be willing to purchase them prior to time. We think this easy-to-use feature will meet our users’ needs for convenience and being up-to-date. More importantly, the pre-order feedback could also help the artists and labels make or adjust their business plans accordingly and early enough.

Back in January 2017, when Boomplay announced a major milestone of reaching over 1 million installations on Google Play Store, Boomplay’s General Manager for Operations, Oye Akideinde mentioned that the service was ‘actively working’ on some features that will make artistes and music lovers more satisfied with the platform.

Boomplay has rolled out this feature with the release of Seyi Shay’s coming single ‘Weekend Vibes’, which is now available for pre-order here (http://www.boomplaymusic.com/share/album/193724) and will be released to the public on the 12th of May, 2017.

Religion / God Asked Me To Ditch My 9-5 Job For Music! by Oluwatoseen: 10:02pm On May 04, 2016
Nigerian singer and worship minister Rosemary Tony-Ayoko shares a detailed testimony about her life, music, career and ministry. This is one inspiring read, which will not only challenge but bless you.

This time 12years ago while in my final year at Benson Idahosa University, I made a prayer to God for Him to show me, speak to me or something if indeed He wanted me doing this for Him, because I could not understand why everyone around me harassed and told me they believed I could and that I was meant to do this, meanwhile I never even saw myself going that way(for some of you that don’t know, I danced more in school cos I joined a Christian dance group… I was a hot stepper you know…wink, lol).

Did I love to sing? Yeah, but I had gotten to a point that I was giving up on singing, I just wanted to focus on writing my final exams, get my degree in Economics, serve my country, get me a great job (bank or oil company preferably), get myself a masters degree, get married to my prince charming, have children and then watch myself climb the career ladder… lol.

But unknown to me, God had it all figured out, He

The driver said the cardinal was asleep when the attack began.“I saw a big pothole and decided to slow down the vehicle. I would have passed the spot with speed but because the cardinal was sleeping, I decided to slow down the vehicle so not to wake him up,” he said.

“Suddenly, three men came out of the palm tree plantation by the roadside and started shooting at the vehicle. I looked ahead of me and saw that two of them were firing from

The husband of the Edo State based gospel artiste who died in a hotel room has blamed the man of God who invited her there as being behind her murder.

The husband of the late gospel singer who was found dead in a hotel room in Edo State, Yvonne Omoarebokhae, Odion, has called out Apostle Psalm Okpe, the General Overseer of the Fresh Oil Ministry, a Lagos based pentecostal church, saying the man of God drugged and murdered his wife after he invited her to the hotel in preparation for a concert he allegedly told her he was organizing.

According to the bereaved husband, his wife did not die of a cardiac arrest as revealed by a post mortem carried out on the corpse but that the pastor murdered her after he had drugged her.
Odion who is a transporter, has outrightly dismissed the test result, alleging that the 30-year-old Yvonne was given an overdose of an unknown substance in the hotel room and left to die by Apostle Okpe. - See more at: http://www.christianmediang.com/2016/04/apostle-killed-my-wife-husband-of-late.html#sthash.4fEZxyPY.dpuf

Religion / Fear Over Bill On Preaching by Oluwatoseen: 5:53pm On Apr 21, 2016
Contrary to insinuations that the bill on religious preaching in Kaduna State would ban evangelism, the state governor Mallam Nasir El' Rufai, yesterday clarified that it was meant to curb emerging religious extremism. The governor, who made the clarifications at a forum organised by a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), Carefronting Nigeria in Kaduna, said his concern for the security of lives and property informed the proposal. Carefronting Nigeria Coordinator, Peter Maji, said the group was moved to call stakeholders for discussion, because of the issues the bill have generated in the state and across the nation.

Muslim Fulani herdsmen, believed to be buoyed by Boko Haram insurgents posing as the nomadic cattlemen, continue to occupy farmland in Benue state, Nigeria, two weeks after killing more than 300 Christian farmers there in a longstanding land dispute.

Heavily armed Fulani herdsmen massacred the farmers and displaced thousands of others in an onslaught of attacks that began as early as Feb. 22 and, despite some reports that the assailants have retreated, the herdsmen have remained in Benue as thousands of their cattle eat crops and graze cultivated land, Morning Star News reported March 11.

Religion / Christian Abductions And Forceful Conversions To Islam by Oluwatoseen: 9:31pm On Mar 16, 2016
The Christian Association of Nigeria or CAN has warned about the increasing number of abduction and forced conversion cases involving female Christians in the northern region of the country. The organization also urged authorities to carry out the necessary operations to stop the violence and other anti-Christian activities in Nigeria.

The CAN made the statement after it was confirmed that Ifesinachi Ani, the 16-year old Christian girl who was abducted in the Federal Capital Territory, was forcefully converted to Islam.

As reported by Information Nigeria, Ani was taken about six months ago in Abuja. Since then, authorities have not been able to deliver helpful information to Ani's family regarding her whereabouts. But then, on Sunday, local news agency The Authority was able to confirm that Ani's abductors were able to brainwash her to change her personality and religion. This is according to an investigation conducted by the agency.

After hearing that her daughter is now a Muslim, Ani's mother said that her Islamic teacher might have something to do with her disappearance and conversion.

"Immediately my daughter came in contact with this (teacher) Baba Abdul who stays near us, her attitude changed suddenly," she said in a statement. "I could no longer understand the character of my child."

Nigerian Youths for Christ, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari and Lagos State Governor Akiwunmi Ambode, to commute the death sentence passed on the founder and General Overseer of Christian Praying Assembly, Rev. Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, a.k.a Rev. King.

The youths, who rose from an emergency meeting in Calabar, Cross Rivers State, said their call was based on the biblical injunction on giving an offender an opportunity to repent. They contended that in spite of complaints of irregularities and denials by the police during the course of investigating the case, Rev. King had gone through traumatic ordeals that must have made him to repent and turn a new leaf.

Religion / Christianity And Nigeria’s Miracle Pastors! by Oluwatoseen: 8:50pm On Mar 14, 2016
Nothing – absolutely nothing – will change if we refuse to act wisely or back our prayers and fasting with positive and proactive actions. Nothing will change if we refuse to speak truth to power or demand for accountability, responsible and honest services from those who manage collective resources on our behalf, and who are already handsomely rewarded for these services…Sometimes, I wonder how the followers of these so-called men of God take their flamboyant leaders seriously! How can this year be your year, when all you see on the streets are hopelessness and decay?

A prophet was preaching to his congregation sometime ago. At a point he started denouncing people who had accused him of living a flamboyant lifestyle and who also said that he was a false prophet who cannot suffer and die for the sake of the gospel. In his words, “I will not die for Jesus because Jesus already died for me. I don’t need to suffer because Jesus already suffered for me – and I will not be poor because Jesus lived and died poor so that I would be rich”. He told his followers how he had bought several expensive cars, and how his admires had donated tens of thousands of dollars to

Religion / Pastor Arrested For Boarding Train Without Ticket! by Oluwatoseen: 5:42pm On Mar 10, 2016

A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) who was aboard the train reports that the preacher was arrested with others at Agbado Train Station in Ogun state.

The preacher, a light complexioned man and others were arrested by the taskforce assigned to ensure law and order and arrest passengers and preachers in the train who did not have tickets. NAN reports that the preacher, who joins the train at Itoki, also in Ogun, always stayed in the first coach where he preached loudly, a development the passengers said was disturbing. Passengers in the train had in the past lodged complaints to the management of the corporation against the man whom they accused of disturbing them with his preaching.

Religion / Does Your Testimony Really Matter??? by Oluwatoseen: 12:51am On Mar 04, 2016
“Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him. - Luke 8:39

It’s funny how people who’ve had life-changing experiences can talk about them as if they happened yesterday. Take a professional athlete, for example, who can describe the great championship game in detail. And old soldiers often get deeply emotional when remembering their comrade who was killed in battle 60 years ago.

When Christ comes into your life, it’s a life-changing experience. So if He really has come, then you’re going to want to tell others about it. I’m not saying you won’t ever struggle to articulate the Gospel. But the truth is that if you’re truly changed, your story of grace is going to be seared into your mind. Music/Radio / Music! Music! And More Music! by Oluwatoseen: 4:35pm On Dec 04, 2015
I use a Phantom 5 phone by Tecno and yes, I have been using their music service called the Boom Player since I got the phone. I decided to write about it because so far it has been an amazing source of entertainment to me.

Call me a thief, but one of the features I like the most about Boom Player is the 'daily lucky draw' where I win coins everyday. I use these coins to buy any music or video I like on the boom player. I can also recharge my account with my phone airtime! How convenient is that! And the prices! N20 for a track, N30 for a video and N100 for an album!!! that's even cheaper than buying a CD in traffic which usually goes for N150.

I also love the lyrics feature - singing along to my favourite songs with the lyrics showing in the app. The app is seamless and properly synched, I am able to play media I have on my phone also within the player so I can enjoy all my downloaded music and videos in one space.

I heard the app is still in its beta phase. If this is true and it already works very well even at this stage, I think this is a step in the right direction for Tecno. They have been able to acquire a huge catalogue of music and videos that spans across Africa. Can't wait to see what the final thing would look and feel like!

Any one else ever used the app? What has your experience with it being like?
Religion / 'Reject Hatred! Christians And Muslims Are Brothers & Sisters' - Pope Francis by Oluwatoseen: 6:28pm On Dec 01, 2015
Pope Francis on Monday said Christians and Muslims were “brothers”, urging them to reject hatred and violence on a visit to a mosque in a flashpoint Muslim neighbourhood of the Central African Republic’s capital Bangui.

“Christians and Muslims are brothers and sisters,” he said in an address at the central Koudoukou mosque in the PK5 district on the most dangerous part of his 24-hour visit to the war-torn nation.

“Those who claim to believe in God must also be men and women of peace,” he said in the district of flimsy shacks and red dirt roads which has been at the heart of recent sectarian violence pitting Muslim rebels against Christian vigilante groups.
