Politics / AIG Ibrahim Accused Of Interfering With Investigations by Oluwolex2000(m): 1:40pm On Apr 25, 2020
*AIG Ibrahim Accused Of Interfering With Investigations, Group Wants Him Disciplined*

A socio-political group “National Coalition Against Abuse of Office” (NCAAO) has asked the Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu to urgently and immediately discipline the AIG Ibrahim Lamorde for interfering with investigations and obstructing the discharge of a lawful instrument of court because of a personal and prurient interest he has with a suspect thereby bringing to ridicule the sterling reputation of the Nigerian Police force and the critical office he occupies.

According to the group’s National Coordinator, Walid Ahmed, AIG Lamorde, has disappointed those who had always thought he was a great cop and an incorrigible crime fighter by compromising his professional ethics and bonafides to shelter a known blackmailer.

“About two weeks ago, a certain known blackmailer and an inveterate social climber, Blessing Ossom made some exceedingly wild and slanderous accusation against important citizens of Akwa Ibom State.

She knew what she said was false and highly libellous, yet she went ahead to cause to be published on her Facebook the deeply slanderous materials against key persons in the State. Legal procedures were put in process and she was ordered arrested.

It was at this point that AIG Lamorde who it is alleged is her close family friend stepped in and blatantly obstructed investigations.

Investigators that were sent to Abuja to get to the root of the case were ordered out of Abuja on the instruction of Lamorde who is AIG Lamorde.

The AIG has practically shielded Blessing Ossom and has been heard boasting that no Jupiter can cause Ms. Ossom to be arrested.

We are calling on the Inspector General of Police to immediately call AIG Lamorde to order and ask him to allow proper investigations to be conducted on the slanderous and libellous accusation and blackmailed the woman caused on the sterling reputation of the people she had slandered.

In an era where our dear President Buharai has made corruption in high places a major element of his governing agenda, AIG Lamorde should not cast a dark pall on the great work he President has been doing”

Politics / Covid-19: NCDC Scores Akwa Ibom State 99 Percent On Contact-Tracing by Oluwolex2000(m): 9:21pm On Apr 22, 2020
The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has scored Akwa Ibom State Government 99 percent on contact-tracing and other critical elements in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.

In a release entitled:-

“Epi Summary of Covid-19 outbreak in Akwa Ibom State, dated April 21, 2020, the Covoid-19 regulatory body singled out Akwa Ibom State for the bold and the courageous work the State Government under the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel has done in a critical element of stemming the rate of the infection of the virus-Contact-tracing. The agency scored the State Government 99 percent in this critical area: Percentage of Contacts traced. It also scored the State 2.7 percent on the “Proportions of Contacts that have developed (suggestive) symptoms which is a great success ratio.

“This is a great news and a huge testament to the proactive stance of His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel who has been front and centre in the fight to contain this deadly pandemic” the State Chairman of the Covid-19 Management Committee and the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem had said exultantly. “You will recall that at the outbreak of this pandemic, Governor Emmanuel had in his previous state broadcast to the people harped on contact tracing as a major means of stemming the rate of infection. We are happy that his effort and leadership has borne great results.

Look at the level of preparedness the State Government made- the world class isolation centres at the Ibom Specialist Hospital, the one at Ikot Ekpene, and the one currently under construction at Ituk Mbang, this shows a leader who was prepared and ready for a time like this. Earlier this week, the Governor had directed that an aggressive testing be carried out throughout the State, and we are seeing the result of that aggressive approach by the low number of people infected in the State”
the Chairman had stated.

Meanwhile, a recently discharged patient who once tested positive for the virus, but was later discharged after being tested twice by the NCDC, has commended the State Governor, Udom Emmanuel for establishing a very conducive and comfortable isolation centre at the Ibom Specialist Hospital which she described as “a home away from home”.

In an interview conducted by the State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), the recovered patient who craved anonymity thanked the State Governor for all he has done to ensure that the spread of the virus is minimized.

“I am a living witness to the fact that contracting the virus is not a death sentence.

I want to commend the Governor for the robust and highly professional team he has put together; who are working hard to ensure that from the time samples were taken for testing to the time the result came out, we were treated with decency and well taken care of.

Today, I am free of the virus and heading back to resume my normal duties. The Governor deserves our praise and gratitude.”

Politics / Breaking News! Akpabio Threatens DIG Ogbizi And AKS CP Imohimie With Sack by Oluwolex2000(m): 5:58pm On Jan 25, 2020
Breaking News! Akpabio threatens DIG Ogbizi and AKS CP Imohimie with sack...

Ibanga Akpabio and SP Idorenyin Akpabio on the run.... Following the refusal to release the INEC officials and Ad- Hoc staff who were earlier abducted by SP Idorenyin Akpabio and taken to the home of Ibanga Akpabio to execute an illegal act for the APC, the Niger Delta Affairs Minister, Godswill Akpabio has threatened the DIG in charge of monitoring the election, Mike Ogbizi and the AKwa Ibom State Police Commisioner, Edgar Imohimie with sack.

The abducted INEC officials who were forced against their will at gun point to execute an illegal act on behalf of Senator Akoabio have been moved to the State Police Headquarters at Ikot Akpan Abia and are providing useful information to the police.

Afraid that the abducted INEC officials and some police officers under the command of SP Idorenyin Akpabio who had participated in the illegal operations and who have also been arrested will implicate him, Senator Akpabio was said to have applied pressure on DIG Ogbizi and CP Imohimie to release the individuals, but was rebuffed by the DIG and the CP, leading to his threat to have them sack.

“ I will use my powers at The Presidency to have these officers sacked. I have the President’s ears and I will ensure that they are sacked” Akpabio was overhead boasting, indirectly saying the President will support his illegal act.

Meanwhile, Ibanga Akoabio and SP Idorenyin Akpabio who masterminded the abduction are on the run.

Security agencies are on their trail to answer for the illegal act they perpetrated.

Politics / Keep Akpabio On Close Watch During Rerun In Akwa Ibom - Group Tell Security by Oluwolex2000(m): 9:05pm On Jan 24, 2020
Keep Akpabio on closed watch during rerun in Akwa Ibom - Group tell security agencies

A foremost sociopolitical in Akwa Ibom state, Akwa Ibom Liberation Movement has called on security agencies to guarantee safety of voters during Saturday's rerun election in Essien Udim local government area.

The group in a statement by her secretary general, Solomon Abasiekong Esq., says that tension has piled on in the local government ahead of the primaries following alleged plot to by the APC in the state led by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, to cause violence.

The statement urged security agencies in the state to keep Senator Godswill Akpabio under close watch during the rerun election.

The statement reads:

"The leadership and members of Akwa Ibom Liberation Movement are worried about the sudden tension piling on in our dear state, Akwa Ibom, barely 24 hours to the conduct of the rerun election in Essien Udim local government for Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial district, Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara/Essien Udim federal constituency and Essien Udim state constituency. Recall that the Appeal Court in Calabar ordered a rerun in Essien Udim local government for the three positions listed in the preceding sentence, following the election petition appeals filed by candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC)."

"Note that in the build up to the rerun, the APC candidate for Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial district, Senator Godswill Akpabio, now Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, reportedly withdrew from the election."

"However, AILM like every responsive group in the state has noted the surge of tension mounted on the people of Essien Udim local government area who have been waiting eagerly to go out and cast their votes on Saturday, 25th January, by none other than Senator Godswill Akpabio, the senatorial candidate of the APC who had earlier said repeatedly that he is no longer interested in the election."

"We wish to call the attention of the Inspector General of Police; the Director Department of State Services; the Commanding Officer 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army and the Commanding Officer 6 Battalion, Ibagwa to the plot by Senator Akpabio, to use his position as Minister to cause the deployment of a parallel security team which he allegedly intends to use to wreck violence during the rerun election tomorrow. Also recall that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday 23rd January, in a widely publicised statement signed by the party's national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan, drew public attention to the mindless plan by Akpabio to use state security apparatus to cause violence during the rerun."

"For emphasis, the PDP had said "it already have intelligence on how a serving minister on President Muhammadu Buhari's cabinet has allegedly compromised a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police to deploy policemen to invade the local government, unleash unbridle violence and manipulate the electoral process in favour of the APC."

"While we do not doubt the veracity of the intelligence at the disposal of the PDP as shared, we are not also surprised at the antics of Senator Akpabio and his plot to reign violence on the people of Essien Udim local government during the rerun tomorrow, after all it is said that chameleon never changes its character. However, we will be surprised if government security has not yet acted on that piece of intelligence."

"In event where concerned security agencies fail to act, to forestall, safeguard and guarantee the safety of each voter and other law-abiding indigenes of Essien Udim and the state, before, during and after the election; we will not hesitate to mobilise Nigerians to pass a vote of no confidence on them. May this statement be a formal call to action to security agencies, notably, the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services, and Nigeria Police Force to beam its surveillance on Senator Godswill Akpabio, his men and any other persons who may want to cause violence during the rerun election tomorrow."

"We also call on relevant international and domestic election monitoring groups to kindly avail the people of Essien Udim their invaluable time tomorrow during the rerun election. The struggle for global peace must be holistic - it must cover the smallest part of every community - and it starts with Essien Udim tomorrow.

Politics / Stakeholders Commend Akwa Ibom’s Agric Transformation by Oluwolex2000(m): 10:08am On Jan 14, 2020
Stakeholders in the nation’s agricultural sector have commended the various transformation efforts of the Akwa Ibom State government to repositioning the sector in the state.

Speaking with journalists in Uyo, the state capital, recently, an agriculturist, Timothy Inyang, said after oil displaced agriculture as the nation’s number one revenue earner, and despite the fact that Akwa Ibom receives the highest revenue allocation in derivation (which actually goes into the state government coffers) agriculture has remained the main source of livelihood for the people.

He said:-

‘‘Notable cash crops for which the state is well known include cassava, yam, cocoyam, maize and plantain.

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, launched the Completion Agenda on assumption of office for his second term to achieve two objectives. One, to unite the people after an election that was preceded by rancorous and bitter campaigns that threatened the fabric of the peace and unity that hold the people together, and two, to signpost the direction he is taking the state in his last term in office.

It should be considered quite strategic the governor’s choice of agriculture as a critical component of his Completion Agenda. ‘‘There couldn’t be a better avenue through which to bring together people whose main occupation has been farming from days of yore. It is one area that does not recognise dialect, ethnicity or political affiliations,” Inyang said.

“Agriculture is an area for which the state is well known and in which it has both comparative and competitive advantage over many states in the country.’’

He also said that in pre and post-independence Nigeria when agriculture was the nation’s economic mainstay, what is today Akwa Ibom State was one of the areas that gave the then Eastern Region the edge over other regions in palm produce, one of the country’s major exports then.

Another stakeholder, Henry Essien, said fishing is basically the economic mainstay of people in the riverine areas, while Oron and Eket serve as major fish markets for traders from neighbouring states like Abia and Imo.

‘‘Governor Emmanuel tried in his first term to take agriculture from the subsistence level it has been to a level at which it can be a source of livelihood for farmers, feed the people of the state and also be a foreign exchange earner,” Essien said.

“He has a string of achievements to show for his effort. Those that stand out as testimonies are cultivation of 2, 100 hectares of cassava plantation in 15 local government areas under the FADAMA project; cultivation of 1, 200 hectares of rice; registration of 40, 000 rice farmers for the Central Bank of Nigeria Anchor Borrowers Programme; training of 450 youths on cocoa maintenance and distribution of 500, 000 improved cocoa seedlings to farmers across 28 cocoa producing local government areas at highly subsidised rates.

‘‘The government set up the Akwa Prime Hatchery that produces 10, 000 birds weekly; constructed the Vegetable Greenhouse and constructed cassava micro-processing mills across the state. It also planted 500 citrus seedlings, 600 hybrid plantain suckers and 1, 000 pineapple suckers, among many others.”

Governor Emmanuel has promised that in the Completion Agenda of his second term, he would boost the agricultural sector with a new policy framework that would make the state self-sufficient in food production, generate employment in the sector and also create wealth in the entire agricultural value chain.

Top on his agricultural agenda is establishment of agro processing and allied industries before he bows out on May, 29, 2023. Among industries that are under consideration are fruit and vegetable juice production; cassava and potato production; edible oil production; salt refinery; animal feed production, sanitary wares; water treatment plant and ice making.

Others are bottling line for water, juice and oil, as well as establishment of an Akwa Ibom integrated cassava programme to be known as Dakkada Cassava Task Force.

Also, a businessman based in Uyo, Fortune Inemesit, told journalists at a forum in the state capital recently that the governor has promised to tap the full potential of the rich coastline of Akwa Ibom that is home to some of the world’s best species of fish to promote establishment of viable industries in shrimping, fishing and canning, fish meal production, and fish oil.

‘‘The goal of achieving self-sufficiency in food production for local consumption and export is within sight in Akwa Ibom. Suffice it to say that this is going to impact very positively on the quality of life of the people of the state as food is the first basic need of man before any other. It would also serve as the bedrock for sustainable development which the Completion Agenda is all about,’’ Inemesit said.

Politics / Calabar-Itu Road: Senator Ita Enang Has Indicted President Buhari - Group by Oluwolex2000(m): 8:43am On Jan 12, 2020
Calabar - Itu Road: Senator Ita Enang has Indicted President Buhari - Group

A socio-political organization based in Uyo, Akwa Ibom Liberation Movement, AILM, says the Senior Special Assistant to President on Niger Delta, Senator Ita Enang, by calling on the presidency to compel Governor Emmanuel to construct Calabar Itu high has questioned President Mohammedu Buhari's true intention on the road.

The group reasoned that this is an indictment of the president and calls to question all efforts made by federal government on the dilapidated federal road just before the 2019 elections.
Speaking in Uyo, the group’s Secretary-General, Solomon Abasiekong Esq., said Senator Enang, having given himself to frivolities as seen in his letter, has made people question Buhari’s sincerity in constructing Calabar - Itu road.

“We are forced to ask what Ita Enang has turned himself to. Enang’s recent demand for Governor Emmanuel's assistance in the construction of Calabar Itu road is an indirect indictment on the so called integrity of President Mohammedu. It shows that either the President was lying to the people of Akwa Ibom State or was using the road to curry support for his reelection.

“Does it mean Ita Enang was not given briefs for his new office as Special Assistant to President on Niger Delta Affairs? Everyone had expected Enang to get so busy in his new office instead of delving into frivolities. It is either Enang doesn’t know what to or does not have what to do.
“Ita Enang must realize that elections are over, as such he should be tired of spewing lies. He should see how to press forward the needs of Niger Deltans to the presidency.

“Akwa Ibom people are satisfied with the transparent nature of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration, as such, we have no question for whatever he uses Akwa Ibom money to do because he has the people’s interest at heart", the statement read in parts.

PRESS BRIEFING BY AKWA IBOM STATE LIBERATION MOVEMENT

Motto: Together we shall liberate Akwa Abasi Ibom State

ITA ENANG AND HIS INCONGRUOUS 'BUSY BODY' LETTER

Few days ago, Akwa Ibom people woke up to read an absurd letter authored by the Senior Special Assistant to President on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Ita Enang, advising the presidency to stop Governor Udom Emmanuel from going further to extend the airport road to 8 lanes.

As a shown in the letter, Senator Enang's reasoning has deteroriated to into bizarre logic, which could immediately be seen as he struggles to suggest to the Federal Government to compel Governor Emmanuel to inject such fund into constructing Calabar Itu high way.

Ita Enang knows that the Calabar - Itu Road project is among many lies that will continue to haunt him and his governorship aspiration as such he is seeking whatever means to get it done. It can be recalled that Enang, in October 2019, while fielding questions from Journalists in Uyo, urged the people to remain calm, assuring that the contractor, Julius Berger, would soon return to site after the rains.

He disclosed that the federal government had awarded the contract for the construction of the road since 2017, however, only N3 billion was released in 2018 budget.

He explained that the total span of the road from Odukpani Junction in Cross River to Ibiakpan Junction in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom was about 22 kilometres with a cost of about N51 billion.

“We have taken steps to ensure Julius Berger returns to site. In 2019 budget, we secured N3.9 billion but much has not been released to the contractor.”

We are forced to ask what Ita Enang has turned himself to. Enang’s recent demand for Governor Emmanuel's assistance in the construction of Calabar Itu road is an indirect indictment on the integrity of President Mohammedu. It shows that either the President was lying to the people of Akwa Ibom State or was using the road to curry support for his reelection.

Does it mean Ita Enang was not given briefs for his new office as Special Assistant to President on Niger Delta Affairs? Everyone had expected Enang to get so busy in his new office instead of delving into frivolities. It is either Enang doesn’t know what to or does not have what to do.

Ita Enang must realize that elections are over, as such he should be tired of spewing lies. He should see how to press forward the needs of Niger Deltans to the presidency.

Akwa Ibom people are satisfied with the transparent nature of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration, as such, we have no question for whatever he uses Akwa Ibom money to do because he has the people’s interest at heart.
Enang should not behave like his name implies, he should think before he acts.

Travel / Akwa Ibom Government Acquires Two New Aircraft For Ibom Air by Oluwolex2000(m): 9:44pm On Jan 07, 2020
The Akwa Ibom State Government has acquired two new aircraft for Ibom Airlines to make a total of five aircraft owned by the state.

Chairman of Ibom Air, Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga (rtd), said during a press conference with newsmen in Uyo that the new aircraft would be unveiled this January.

He said Ibom Air had made about 3,000 flights since it began operations in June, and is now flying more routes.

Nkanga explained that before 2023, the state would float 10 aircraft, adding that the government had invested a lot in the aviation business to boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state.

He revealed that the coming of Ibom Air had brought substantial economic improvement to the state. “Within these eight months, we will have five aircraft.

Towards the end of last year, possibly by October, we are expecting to add about two more aircraft to the existing three.

We did that because it was towards the Yuletide and we expected more people to travel.

But there was a little delay. “Additional two aircraft are arriving this January.

Within these eight months, we will have five aircraft. We have operated about 3,000 flight.

We have increased our routes, because when we first started, it was Uyo to Lagos and Uyo to Abuja. We have since added Abuja to Lagos and Lagos to Abuja.

“We have done enough to make on time departure and we have made about 97percent on time departure. “Before the end of this administration, we should be able to acquire 10 aircraft.

That is the target, before 2022 we should expand the domestic, regional and international routes,” he stated.

Politics / Saraki Vs Abdulrasaq: How Kwara Governor Overstepped His Boundary by Oluwolex2000(m): 5:36pm On Jan 02, 2020
Saraki Vs Abdulrasaq: How Kwara Governor Overstepped His Boundary

It appears the the current Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman is overstepping his boundaries.

It is pathetic and sardonic to wake up to the story of how the state government demolished the building belonging to late Olusola Saraki in Ilorin.

The building according to report was demolished in the early hours of Thursday. This step as defended by Murtala Olanrewaju, the Commissioner for Communications in Kwara is to enable the government to carry out its lawful duty.

It is sad that while trying to carry out its acclaimed lawful duty, Mr Abdulrasaq led government has simply destroyed what remains a symbol of power and respect for the Saraki family.

According to witnesses, the building, popularly called Ile Arugbo, was demolished at about 4:00 a.m.

Alas, politics is not a do or die affairs. Election has come and gone. The argument of the government that the late Olusola Saraki’s property was acquired illegally does not hold water.

As opine by Bukola Saraki, it is clear to the blind and audible to the deaf that Mr Abdulrazaq is simply trying to erase the history of the 'Sarakis' in Kwara which is not wise.

With or without demolition, Saraki legacy remains strong. A four year term in office cannot just quench the reign since 1999.

Although, Bukola of the PDP may not win the 2019 elections in Kwara as the APC won the governorship and legislative seats in the state, he continue to be a force to reckon with.

Abdulrazaq has overstepped his boundary all in the name of personal vendetta. The emergency governor will soon realise that he didn't emerge because he was loved by the people, he emerged because the people of Kwara were tired of Sarakis reign. Trust me, Abdulrazaq Abdurahman time will pass too

Politics / Kogi: Of Christmas Carol & The Bello, Onoja Love Tango by Oluwolex2000(m): 9:09pm On Dec 26, 2019
By: PHRANK SHAIBU

"Go and say to My servant David, 'Thus says the LORD, "Are you the one who should build Me a house to dwell in? '‘ 2 Samuel 7:5

No doubt, the celebration of Christmas Carol at the Kogi State Government House in Lokoja on Saturday, December 21, 2019 came as a surprise to many. This is because some persons had tried, albeit unsuccessfully, to portray Kogi as a Muslim state. There are also those who had tried to wear the toga of a Muslim fundamentalist on the incumbent Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, especially as the last election was approaching. But, the false narratives crumbled with the carol.

The Kogi State Government, on that Saturday night held its maiden Christmas carol service at the new Chapel of Peace and Unity built by the Bello administration in a record time. Before then, the government house only had a mosque, thereby sustaining the false narrative that Kogi was a wholely Muslim state.

Interestingly, GYB, as Bello is popularly called, is the eight chief executive to preside over the state since its creation 28 years ago. Four of the CEOs were Christians, while the current governor is the fourth in a string of Muslims to rule the state in successive order. Yet, none of the predecessors considered it appropriate to erect a chapel or even organise a christian activity like the carol within the precincts of the government house.

So, Saturday's event was undoubtedly very significant as it was the first time the event was held since the state was carved out of the old Kwara and Benue states on August 27, 1991.

In his goodwill message, Governor Yahaya Bello thanked God for the privilege to build a house of worship for God, saying he welcomed the worshippers with “overwhelming joy and a deep sense of satisfaction.”

Represented by his deputy, Edward Onoja, the governor noted that the significance of the chapel was not only in its purpose as a place of worship for Christians, but also as a symbol of “unity, access and inclusion".

“When we did the ground breaking ceremony for this lovely edifice on 22, July, 2019, we promised to finish the work in December. Thank God for His help, it was not only finished, but in use.

“I thank the Christian Association of Nigeria in Kogi and at the national level for standing solidly with us in the actualisation of this project.

“It is my prayer that God will bless CAN and continue to increase its capacity to positively influence good governance, peace and righteousness in Nigeria.

“We are grateful to God Almighty for His gift of Jesus Christ, which is the reason for the Christmas season; and we thank Him for His help and presence, which we are celebrating tonight,” Bello said.

The governor solicited the prayers, intercession and support from the Christian community and, indeed, the entire people of Kogi.

“We promise to deepen these virtues, in our second term, until Kogites will be known as Kogites first, before tribe or tongue or social class come to mind.

“Once again, I welcome us to this first ever service in this beautiful edifice.

“It is also double honours for us as tonight is a Christmas carol service in honour of the birth of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, the One Who made the ultimate sacrifice to save mankind".

In his short exhortation, the state’s CAN chairman, Dr. John Ibenu, commended the governor for the gesture, adding that the message of Christmas was that of the love of God to mankind.

Ibenu said God gave Jesus “to take away our sins,” while emphasising that the current happenings around the world were indications and assurances that Jesus was coming again and about to come.

“We live in an age where people make mockery of sin; sin is a sickness, but Jesus is the cure.”

He, therefore, urged the people to take God first in all their actions and examine their lives, to see if they stood right with God.

In his vote of thanks, the pioneer chaplain of the chapel, Pastor Henry Asarapo, lauded the governor for the gesture, saying the building of the edifice could only have been by the hand of God.

He prayed for the Next Level manifestation of good and greater things to come to Kogi.

Other dignitaries at the occasion include: Speaker of Kogi House of Assembly, Mr. Matthew Kolawole; Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Folashade Ayoade; and Head of Service, Mrs. Deborah Ogunmola, among others.

Definitely. It is the first time a chief executive of the state will be openly admitting and embracing the multi-religious status of the state. His predecessors merely lived in self denial. GYB, on the other hand, displayed uncommon courage by going all the way, in a bold move to solidify the peace and religious harmony that the state has enjoyed during his tenure.

However, we must not fail to place in proper perspective, the supportive role played by the Deputy Governor, David Onoja in conceptualizing and seeing the project to its conclusion. Indeed, many have postulated that it is the love that Bello has for his deputy, formerly his Chief of Staff that led to this noble initiative.

First, as friends, and now as governor and deputy, the love tango between Bello and Onoja is unparalled in Kogi and Nigeria’s political history. Not even the threat from some  Igala leaders for Onoja to disown Bello before the recent second term election could separate the two gladiators. Instead, the deputy governor has continued to maintain loyalty to his boss, who in turn has reciprocated with unblemished affection.

Ultimately, it is the resolve by Bello and Onoja to accept their religious differences and instead forge a common friendship, brotherhood and solidarity that resulted in the building of the chapel and organization of the first carol. Both men have a rich lesson to teach Kogi people and indeed Nigeria at large!

Politics / Stop Fighting INEC REC Igini; Come & Test Your Popularity, Group Urges Akpabio by Oluwolex2000(m): 4:16pm On Dec 10, 2019
Stop fighting INEC REC Igini; come and test your popularity, group urges Akpabio, APC

A socio-political group, the One Nigeria Movement (ONM) has advised the Niger Delta Affairs Minister, Senator Godswill Akpabio to come and test his popularity at the re-run election in Essien Udim rather than hiding behind the cover of a nebulous group, the Forum of APC Aspirants to malign the sterling reputation of the Akwa Ibom State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Mike Igini.

Earlier this week, the so-called group, Forum of APC Aspirants, in a press release riddled with grammatical errors and disjointed grammar, asked for the removal of Mr. Igini as the Resident Electoral commissioner in Akwa Ibom State.

Politics / Minister In Dilemma As Appeal Court Rules Rerun In Essien Udim by Oluwolex2000(m): 10:54pm On Nov 09, 2019
The minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio has to decide whether to resign his recent appointment and pursue his ambition to return to the senate or to remain as a minister.

His dilemma follows the ruling of Appeal Court ordering a rerun of the national assembly election in Essien Udim local government area.

The Appeal Court sitting in Calabar, ruled that a fresh election be conducted within 90 days in Essien Udim local government, as a result of irregularities which both petitione and respondent parties admitted in their separate addresses.

Although the ruling was clearly in favour of the minister, his supporters found it hard to celebrate because the odds are stacked against their principal.

Going into the rerun, Akpabio is expected to register a minimum lead of 38,056 margin to upturn the election of Senator Chris Ekpenyong.
Furthermore, the minister is expected to resign his appointment under the law to be eligible to contest election. This is clearly not what the former governor wants.

A university lecturer and political analyst, Dr. Chris Inyang, believes Akpabio will rather ignore the ruling than take a chance with an election he is clearly losing.

"Akpabio should not make the same mistake the former managing director of NDDC, Mr. Nsima Ekere, made. It is obvious that the present assignment Akpabio is handling presents him with great latitude to expand his influence in the Niger Delta region. Going back to the senate will be an anticlimax and then Akwa Ibom state would have lost out of NDDC twice", he said.

He further pointed out that Nsima left NDDC in spite of an extension of his board's tenure from a few months to six years and failed in his ambition to become governor. This time, Akpabio may resign to face a definite loss notwithstanding the outcome of the rerun in Essien Udim.

Meanwhile, the incumbent, Senator Chris Ekpenyong maintains that he is not perturbed by the ruling and assured his supporters to remain calm while a date for the election is fixed.

“I am very prepared to defeat him again in Essien Udim, let’s go to the field, he has to resign first as a minister in line with the provisions of the constitution,” he declared.

"God gave me victory to salvage my people from deceit and poor leadership, and nothing has spoilt that victory,” Sen. Ekpenyong restated.

He said with election in one local government area only, all focus and attention would be given to the election and there would be no room for manipulation and rigging, as was noted in the area based on reports of observers and the electoral umpire.

“He brought war and federal might, but the people’s might and God’s mighty hand gave me victory. This is another opportunity for the gap of that victory to be expanded,” Senator Ekpenyong added.

It was gathered that results obtained from the other nine local government areas show that Senator Chris Ekpenyong leads with 114, 973 votes while Akpabio has 76,917.

Akpabio who lost the election to Chris Ekpenyong by 83 ,158 votes to 118 ,215, had approached the Appeal Court to seek the order of the court for the illegal figures he allocated to himself, after losing to Chris Ekpenyong in 8 of the 10 local government areas of the district.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had confirmed that only 19,455 voters were accredited in Essien Udim local government area during the election and had rejected the illegally manufactured scores that Akpabio appropriated for himself.

This INEC decision was upheld by the National Assembly Elections Petitions tribunal in Uyo, which decided that the 61,329 votes claimed by Akpabio were inconsistent with the number of accredited voters during the February 23 elections.

In a related development, the Appeal Court has also ordered that a fresh election be conducted in Essien Udim local government area for the House of Representatives Seat between the incumbent Nsikak Ekong of the PDP and Emmanuel Akpan of the APC.

Ekong will also go into the election with the lead garnered from his victory in the other two local government areas of the federal constituency, Ikot Ekpene and Obot Akara.

Politics / Tribunal:intrigue Trails E’udim Akha Petition,evidence Negates Ro’s Testimony by Oluwolex2000(m): 1:30pm On Sep 17, 2019
The Returning Officer in the March 9, 2019 House of Assembly election conducted in Essien Udim, Professor, Ignatius Uduk, may be struggling to extricate himself from an alleged scandalous outing at the ongoing State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, holding in Uyo.

Uduk, whose report allegedly written to INEC soon after election, sought outright cancellation of Essien Udim AKHA election, capitulated while giving testimony as subpoenaed witness for the petitioners, to claim that he announced the petitioner as winner.

Recall that the Essien Udim State Constituency election was cancelled by the electoral body following a report filed at the state INEC headquarters by some electoral officers including the Returning Officer, Prof. Ignatius Uduk, a lecturer in the Faculty of Education, University of Uyo on 10th March 2019.

Uduk rather told the tribunal he witnessed a peaceful election and that he announced Nse Ntuen as the winner in a calm atmosphere, and not under duress.

In the earlier report personally written and signed by him (copy here attached), Prof. Uduk who reportedly escaped death in the hands of armed thugs in Essien Udim on the day of the election, had stated in the letter purportedly written by him that, "at about 6pm some Electoral Officers came in from the wards to complete the collation of results at the Local Government INEC office, and that at 10:45 PM, vehicles not less than 5 drove into the collation centre and immediately thugs unleashed violence on the electoral officers.

According to him, he was compelled to collate the result that was smuggled in by the thugs from the opposition, APC in support of Nse Ntuen.

The Returning Officer who is alleged to have been influenced to contradict his earlier report while giving evidence in court, however from available documents already in public domain, the professor may have a tough time explaining the intriguing change of heart.

Meanwhile, a copy of Professor Uduk's handwritten report, dated March 9th, 2019 and lodged with INEC after he was forced to declare the result under duress reads:

"Resident Electoral Commissioner

Uyo

Aks

Sir,

"A Report of the Events of the INEC office at Essien Udim on March 09--2019

"I was posted to Essien Udim as the R.O Constituency election. I reported to the E.O. at about 2pm. Towards 6pm some electoral officers came in from the wards to complete their collation. While there about 10.45pm vehicles not less than five drove into the HQ. My thinking suggested the return of electoral materials. Not long after there was general...

...were heard.

"In the stampede, violence was unleashed on the electoral officers who had to escape for their safety. As a result it would not be unexpected that the sensitive materials were destroyed and mutilated such as ballot materials and result sheets.

I was not spared as I also ran for my dear life.

In the morning the electoral documents and records were to be compiled, arranged and submitted for endorsements.

How that process was carried out raised doubts, questions and issues which the Collation Officers have different experiences and tales. A Proper assessment of the situation."

"However, I for my safety I was compelled to announce the result that was presented under duress........

How figures were arrived at were not known or clear to me as I did not take part in the active collation process according to INEC directives.

The above is for your information and necessary action, please. "

Thank you"

Yours Faithfully

Ignatius E. Uduk (Prof)

Nevertheless, in a witness statement deposed by him at the tribunal, Prof. Uduk denied that he declared the first respondent (Nse Ntuen) winner under threat or duress, contradicting his earlier report six months earlier which had been documented.

Among other things which Prof Uduk deposed in an affidavit under oath and admitted before the tribunal, include: "I made the return of the 1st Respondent(Nse Ntuen) as the winner of the election under NO threat, compulsion, duress or inducement.
"That I state this facts (sic) conscientiously, believing same to be true in accordance with the Oaths Act."

However, during cross-examination by Petitioners' Counsel, Prof Uduk admitted on oath that he is not the person who collated the votes into the Local Government Collation sheet (Form EC 8C(1)which was tendered as Exhibit R101.
The form which Uduk claimed he signsd voluntarily, was however discovered to have been produced by one Dr. Nsikan Senam, who did the purported collation of ward results into the Local Government Collation sheet and not Prof. Uduk, the returning officer.

On cross examination, the university lecturer who is the immediate past Dean of the Faculty of Education, University of Uyo, admitted that he did not know the exact number of poling units in Essien Udim State Constituency.

Furthermore cross, Prof Uduk could not also ascertain the number of polling unit results that were collated into the final result sheet he signed, confessing that he was not the person that made the entries in the Local Government Collation sheet neither was he the person that made the entries in the final result sheet.

He stated that he was only called upon to append his signature to the final declaration of result sheet after collation by the collation officer which he could not also mention.

In an attempt to give credence to the claim of a free election, a video evidence marked Exhibit R. 138 was presented before the court.
The video showed a gathering where Prof. Ignatius Uduk was seen declaring Nse Ntuen as the winner of the election.
Unfortunately, the date on the display of the video exposed the sham, as it was clearly written on the screen of the viewing device that the recording took place on August 25,2019.

Politics / Judge Who Gave Minority Judgment In Favour Of Senator Akpabio Abandons Tribunal by Oluwolex2000(m): 9:08am On Sep 13, 2019
Justice Sheriff Hafizu Tahir, the judge who gave minority judgment in Senator Godswill Akpabio's petition, challenging his defeat in the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial election has abandoned the tribunal sittings.

Justice Tahir was said to have walked out of the tribunal in protest after he gave the minority judgement on the case between Ekpeyong and Akpabio.

"It has never happened before in any tribunal case all over the world, for a judge to walk out of the tribunal because of the majority opinion given by his colleagues. The question remains; why did Justice Tahir embarrass the judiciary? Was he compromised? The NJC must look into this," a lawyer who preferred anonymity said.

The Justice W. O Akanbi-led National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal is presently sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State to deliver judgments in some of the pending petitions, but only two of the three justices are present.

Justice Tahir, who gave the minority judgement in favour of Senator Akpabio has disappeared into thin air with no one unable to ascertain his whereabouts.

Sources disclosed that his abandoning the tribunal sitting since yesterday may not be unconnected with his failure to convince his two other colleagues with the huge cash he allegedly received to sway judgement in favour of Akpabio.

The source said it appeared that he had assured Senator Akpabio that he had "settled" his two other colleagues but which was unsuccessful due to the integrity and professionalism of the two justices. He was said to have been uncomfortable, since yesterday.

The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial district had challenged the election of Dr. Chris Ekpenyong, of the People’s Democratic Party, who was declared the winner of the election.

While the tribunal Chairman, Justice Akanbi delivered a majority judgment, upholding the election of Senator Ekpeyong, Justice Tahir delivered a dissenting judgment, declaring Akpabio as winner.

Since then, Justice Tahir has abandoned his duty post, leaving only two judges to deliver judgements on other petitions.

Politics / EFCC Goes After Governor Ambode And Others, For Frauds by Oluwolex2000(m): 1:53pm On Aug 26, 2019
Why Ambode Has Stayed Put in London

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has begun investigations into some of the financial dealings of former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode during his tenure in Lagos State.

Ambode is being investigated for several deals ranging from unilateral award of over-inflated contracts, cooking the books of the state and approving many opaque deals that did not go through due process.

There are also allegations of the state’s commonwealth being diverted to private accounts in countries like Seychelles and Mauritius while, in and around Alausa, the Lagos State secretariat, the issue of how Ambode failed in his bid to replace minutes of past EXCO meetings with doctored ones in order to cover up his draconian style, is on the lips of everyone.

It would be recalled that days back, operatives of the EFCC stormed his Epe country home on routine investigation but were violently denied entry by a horde of cudgel-wielding, irate youth.

In a statement by his media aide, Habib Aruna, averred that the EFCC operatives’ visit to his houses was without any prior notice.

According to the statement, “These searches were carried out extensively and the operatives left without any incident.

The former governor reiterates that the EFCC has till date not had any direct communication with him on any subject matter whatsoever and if or when it occurs, he is ready and willing to respond.”

Conversely, Tony Orilade, spokesman of the EFCC, said that the search was not a raid, but part of an ongoing investigation which is “in line with (the EFCC’s) mandate and the rule of law.”

Orilade further said, “We need to state for the records that the EFCC did not raid Ambode’s house. It is instructive that his administration, like other former governors, is under investigation since they no longer constitutionally enjoy immunity against prosecution.”

As a tradition, the commission, Orilade stated, does not carry out an investigation on the pages of the newspapers or through the media; “Our operations are always covert until at a time when we file charges in court.

Therefore, the attempt to cast the commission in a bad light is unacceptable as the EFCC will never engage in an illegal act. We remain committed to the war against corruption.”

Sources inside the EFCC have affirmed that alongside Ambode, Herbert Wigwe, the Group MD/CEO of Access Bank Plc, would soon be invited for interrogation about his involvement or otherwise in some of the allegations levelled against Ambode.

Ambode and Wigwe are reportedly very good friends and did many businesses together.

It is even being speculated that Ambode may be one of the largest shareholders of Access Bank at the moment given the quantum of deals transacted over his four-year administration, a rumour that has not escaped the EFCC.

There is also the case of Craneburg Construction established in 2016, one year into Ambode’s administration, and purportedly owned by Wigwe.

Without previous construction experience, the former governor reportedly awarded the company a $300million deal for road projects around select areas of the state particularly his Epe constituency.

Incidentally, Wigwe is not new to being a guest of the EFCC. In May 2016, the Access Bank boss was arrested and quizzed regarding funds laundered through the bank by officials of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

The EFCC stated that the source of some questionable funds about $5 million that was routed through the bank was traced to former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Wigwe spent the night in the EFCC custody and was only released after making a down payment in the region of billions.

Whilst the investigation continues to dig deep, Ambode has decided to stay put in London, thus stirring up questions about what he is scared of and why he has refused to come home since he officially left office on May 29th.

Celebrities / Simi, Others Astonished As Magodo Residents Enjoy 24/7 Electricity by Oluwolex2000(m): 1:42pm On Aug 25, 2019
Singer Simi and other residents of Magodo Estate are currently in a state of disbelief and have applauded Ikeja Electric Plc (IE) for providing stable electricity to them, following the signing of the Premium Power Agreement.

The deal initiative is a power purchase agreement under the Willing Buyer, Willing Seller initiative issued by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

It entails a commitment to specific service level standards while the customer agrees to pay a tariff that is above the current MYTO tariff.

At the contract signing ceremony, two weeks ago, the chief operating officer of Ikeja Electric, Folake Soetan, expressed confidence in the success of the trend-setting agreement which she noted was in line with the FG’s “willing seller, willing buyer” policy.

“We are confident that this agreement will serve as a model for other power agreements in the power sector because, while it is in line with the FG policy, it also reflects our unwavering commitment to our customers.

This has also been made possible by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission’s directive to DisCos to provide an enabling environment with exceptional service delivery,” she said.

Politics / What You Should Know About Ibrahim Balarabe Kagara by Oluwolex2000(m): 2:37pm On Jul 25, 2019
Born 5th January 1977 to peasant parents of strong Islamic beliefs, Ibrahim Balarabe, indigene of Rafi Local Government Area Council of Niger State, strikes easily and clearly as a young man of immense brilliance and astounding political weight, despite his relative biological age!

Married with children, Ibrahim, currently the Chief of Staff (CoS) to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State, started off as a primary school teacher in his Rafi Local Government Council, before venturing into politics where he was made at various times between December 2015 and March 2019, the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Local Governments, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs; Ministry of Works and Infrastructural Development; and Ministry of Finance. He was also at a time Acting Chairman, Niger State Internal Revenue Service, Secretary, Finance Committee, Niger State All Progressives Congress (APC) Gubernatorial Campaign Council; and Director, Finance and Accounts, Abubakar Sani Bello Campaign Organisation. He was at a time Director, Paxmain Projects Nigeria Limited, a private projects sourcing, finance and execution venture.

A little earlier, Ibrahim was the candidate, Niger State House of Assembly for Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Rafi Local Government; Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mai Bariki Global Investment Nigeria Ltd; Deputy Zonal Coordinator, Zone B, IBB Campaign Office and Company Secretary, Jibal Investment Nigeria Ltd.

His professional experience in the field of accounting practice is equally noteworthy, starting with the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Sokoto state, where he underwent his mandatory one-year national service as a Youth Corps member after concluding his four-year course in Accounting at the Bayero University, Kano (BUK).

Ibrahim attended Central Primary School, Kagara and Government College, Bida for his secondary education before proceeding to BUK where he obtained his BSc Accounting in 2003; Master of Treasury Management (2007); and Master of Business Administration (2010).

His professional qualifications and experience are just as intimidating! He is a Fellow, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN, 2017); Member, Chattered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria ( ACTI, 2016); Member, ANAN, 2016; Fellow, Chattered Financial Analyst, 2012; Fellow, Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria (2010); Associate Member, Institution of Treasury Management and Financial Accountants (2005); and Certificate, Management Information Systems, BUK, 2002.

His core personal traits include ability to work independently and make decisive, problem-solving initiatives across administrative and corporate fields; ability to adapt to varying circumstances, strong analytical and numerical skills, solid computer skills, excellent communication ability and unparalleled dedication to whatever course(s) he believes in!

Ibrahim's skills include reading, playing and table tennis.
