khalids: Its called lobbying because the other senators also have motions to push.....When they come with theirs too, you also would not support them..... The senate is sent up in a mutually assured destruction kind of way....if you throw away my bill, i throw away you own bill too...
The problem is our senators are not interested in what the people want only in what enters their pocket.....It is a Nigerian problem and it involves all ethnic groups... So we can both agree that those in power are the reason for our ethnic division it so divided that it best we all go our separate ways where lobbying won't be too hard a task for our senators of the various new republic states. |

khalids: Accepted, they cant do it alone......But have those senators, house of rep members put up these notions.....mind you same applies for all senators as regards the regions they represent.....Senators usually have to lobby and put pressure for their motions to be taken seriously......if the senator cannot get it done...then he is not the right person for the Job....it means he just there getting paid and doing nothing...
Its also part of the Governors, LG Chairmen and Counselors duty to help in creasing the pressure that the motions moved by the senators should be attended to with seriousness....but are they doing this...
Government is about politicking...lobbying....compromising ....and even blackmailing.....it appears the leadership is not playing the politics right or they don't care and are simply just interested in the money that enters their personal account Why support something that you won't benefit anything from. let take the issue of the second Niger bridge. if this bridge was to be constructed to connect the south and north, I would have been built and we would have Even forgotten about it. Am saying no matter how you try to lobby those senators from other regions, provided they won't be benefiting anything from it, it just won't sail. |

that's killing two birds with one stone and I like this write up. Emma powerful should take note and report to the leader of IPOB, It is time to use that much accumulated power to use. IPOB has been the only tool that has brought the Igbo together in mass, the people follow IPOB so therefore I think if this is well implemented by IPOB it will go along way to win more heart toward the actualization of Biafra. OP very very nice thread. weldone! |

khalids: Does the Niger Delta not have representation at the Federal level....what are their senators doing, what are the governors of those states doing, what are their counselors doing and local government chairmen doing....
These are the people that they should hold to get things done for them......complaining to their fellow Nigerians or posting on Nairaland who are also facing neglect from government is not going to solve anything......
And when we say government, who exactly is responsible to get the cleanup done....don't they have names, don't they have addresses....
We just keep channeling our anger in the wrong direction.....if there are elders chopping the money...do the youth not know their addresses.......
We just all sit back and think someone somewhere will solve our problems for us...we need to take initiatives in the right direction Are they the only ones in the national assembly, they can only put forth a motion or whatever those guys do up there. they can force the rest assembly member to support the motion. what will the north gain from the clean up ( Nothing ) so they won't support what will the south west gain from the clean up( nothing) what will the south east gain from the clean up( Nothing) as far as this other region does not take it seriously and the cash flow is not stopped. the real clean up will never ever come. But in their own country or a country shared with just one of the 3 major ethnic group they can lobby for the clean up and the motion will set sail perfectly. they can't heal the land even with restructuring and they can't push for self determination on their own. |
Politics › Re: Photos Of Oil Spillage In Niger Delta Communities by omaar12(m): 9:04pm On Aug 23, 2017 |
khalids: This is another angle that I always laugh about.....Self determination....Okay. Lets say today they get self determination, who will be the leaders in the Niger Delta....is it no the same people who holding senatorial, governorship, counselor positions right now......
People that do not care now....do you think they will now start caring when self determination is given.........
The problem is in the leadership.......hold those leaders by the balls and they will be the one running to Abuja to get things done in their backyard.....A Governor, Local government chairman, counselor will sit down in his office forming boss...when his people are suffering desperately....and we will be pointing fingers to some far off government....they should put their leaders on their toes The Igbos are pushing strongly for self determination under mazi Nnamdi kanu the question is, is he a politician (No).aside from the fact that he uses abusive words on other ethnic group I can tell u for a fact that most people from other ethnic group support him because he came out to say what everyone has been meaning to say BT to afraid to. And the ND will hold those leaders account when they are on their own, they won't blame abuja, southwest or south east. for their leaders have no reason not to be accountable. |

I think those from the ND are justly right to lead the fight for self determination they have every reason to, why they are holding back still baffles me. even with their oil wealth they hold No power to save their region from disaster. If I where to be from that region my first goal would be to lobby one of the big two from the south especially those who share the same ideology as I do. Then we sign an MOU checkmating any loopholes that will make us feel suspicious of each other, prepare and draft how things will be done in the eventuality of a successful break up which must be entail in the MOU. They say if one wants something perfectly done, he should do it himself, NDeltans should stop being redundant and raise their voices, strike the iron when it Hot. this is the period of self determination you should not be sorry for wanting to leave this contraception for the betterment of the future of ur children, stop sitting on the fence. Come out in mass and save ur region. |

They can heal the land if they are not greedy about the oil money benefits BT rather how to improve those parts with oil spill. and by sponsoring their youth ( the bright ones) with scientific acumen who are patriotic to the Niger Delta, aboard to learn how to clean the land and improve the soil so their children while be glad to be able to drink portable water as eating fresh fish pepper soup ( all from their region ) tomorrow. |

Cool23: I don't think u understood my comment and I'm from ogun restructuring means giving states control of their resources without any interference from the federal government now tell me if they carry on with this how many states can survive on their own it is only a scheme to make some certain governors more powerful it either restructuring or division. ND can only heal their land by their own hand if they control these resources without greed. before these oil spillage chase them away from their Region. No matter how much money u have if u cannot get access to portable water, my brother u will know that that money is useless. these guys are suffering even with their wealth. |

Op this government No this country has failed the people of Niger delta. if this where to be in abuja or anywhere close to the North the government would have handled it immediately BT because it not close to the center the government is reluctant to do anything those benefiting for this scourge will say ( when you brother was there what did he do) they forget that Jonathan was not just the president of ND but the president of Nigeria thereby he alone cannot make decision or suggest and pass such even if he wanted to he/it has to pass through the legislative. 100% control of your resources would never come, it all down to you guys to save ur region. when it comes to spillage it your region BT when it comes to sharing the money from ND they say "it our money" please you guys should be wise you should be at the fore front of every protest in this country because very soon there will be nothing left ( land, water, oil) nothing. Restructuring, yes might seem okay BT that will not give u what u need to heal the land because you don't have the ultimate control over ur cash cow. |

Because we are just neigbours, meant to sleep and eat in our houses, we could visit our neighbors , as we visit our cameroon and benin neigbourz... But thats not our home even when they allow us stay for a while... Niger Delta is the home of the southern Southern Minorities... Biafra is the home of All Igbos. it takes two to tangle, history is there to make u understand that we have tried. we have had desired result in places where we share 40/50% cultural similarities as well as religion. these similarities can not be found in the core north (east/west) so these difference tend to clash with each other. check out idoma, Ibibio, igala when last did u hear that these people were killed in their numbers in and around Igbo speaking region. |

Hadone: Hate speeches & songs not from the northerners. Even the northern declaration is not aimed at dislodging the igbos from the northern territories, but a wake up call for the IPOBs to get back to their senses and realise that northern Nigeria is the backbone of their economy. The northerners are still happy with other Nigerians living in the north. But some miscreant are taking advantage of the northern declarations to cook up hate speeches and even songs against others. I beg to disagree! I believe you think those IPOB are at fault because they still hold sway online and offline, BT let me take u to the cradle of these hate speeches 97/5 m.buhari comment, delay in appointment and shortchange in the administration. in other word the plan after the election way to make the igbos feel irrelevant in the scheme of things which aid the growth of IPOB and the arrest of N.K without even calming down the Igbos with appointment at the earlier stage. then the big one, killing of unarmed protesters un apologetically this fueled hate speeches from the Igbo stock that has spread to other part of the nation and the nation is engulfed in the flame of hate speeches, ask most youth today on naira land the reason for their hate speeches. they simply have no idea. |
