hustler: Arrived Calgary, Alberta early last month. Just wanted to share my quick settlement story. Weather has been relatively great. Got registered with Immigration centres and have received tremendous help there. Got a 2 bedroom apartment in the NW area for 1,300 which is ok. A friend helped me with securing that and I did not have to make payment for 3 or 6 months in advance. Just a refundable security deposit and first month rent. Like most have mentioned previously here, you will need a vehicle especially in the NW as small grocery shops and stationery stores are not easily accessible by foot. I got tremendous help with my Banking needs from a Nigerian working in a Bank. Free Banking for one year, 2,500 MasterCard limit with option of a Line of Credit etc. He says after the one year I can still transition to another free banking account without minimum balance if I want. He even helped to refer me to employers in the Finance Industry and one of them has even called me for interviews already and I only met the guy on an online forum oh. Also, like many have mentioned here previously you have to target your resumes to job postings. What else am I missing in my story? Anyways it has been a great number of days being here with no regrets (except that there is no suya here lol) . Let me know if you have any enquires I may be of help. Thanks to everyone who has previously dropped useful information here. ah edakun hustler, make I pm you. ese gan |

maternal: That's not true. Nobody has a right to enter canada unless they're a citizen. Furthermore if her child is born with a disability he/she may be denied PR. Immigration is never black and white, even if you're a citizen. This woman should have her baby in Canada and stop playing with fire. maternal has spoken. he that has ear let him hear. lol |

nadina: Okay, where and how do i start celebrating and thanking God for His faithfulness and favor. I remember prior to my arrival in Calgary, i was discouraged from pursing a career in HR, as not being a lucrative career with little or no job opportunities in Canada. I was determined to follow my passion and dreams of becoming a world renowned Human Resources Consultant and i wasn't backing out.
On arrival in Calgary, i took advantage of one of the Government bridging programs , Corporate Readiness Training Program, a very good and informative one. I learnt how to write my resume the Canadian style, soft skills, interview preparation, and LinkedIn profile update. Then again, i was discouraged by the program instructor not to venture into HR profession yet as my little over 3months experience in HR will not be impressive to any employer. I contacted various recruitment agencies, and to God be be the glory, i landed my first contract job before the end of the program in a Multinational Investment Bank in Downtown Calgary. I continued my job search while working there. Lo and behold, one very good afternoon, i got a LinkedIn invite from the Director of Human Resources in one of the Oil and Gas servicing company in downtown, i accepted his request and he sends me a message, saying, "Hello, i am in need of HR Administrative Assistant in my company, would you mind sending me your resume for review". I quickly sent him my resume. Few minutes later, i received a call from the HR Manager scheduling an interview. I attended the interview two days later and she requested for two work references and promised to get back to me.
Before then, i heard God tell me, "the job is yours already, He single-handedly picked it for me. I am happy to announce to the whole house, indeed God keeps to His Word, i have received my employment letter and due to start work on Monday. For those till doubting that there is not just a God, but a Faithful one at that, who doesn't follow protocols in bringing to pass His Word, please you may have to reconsider your thoughts.
I am really ecstatic right now and want to encourage us all believers, do all you can, network all you can, prepare the best resume, enroll in the best courses, but do not rely on your efforts, put your trust in God and He will never let His children down. Congratulations. God has blessed your hussle |

40manlappy: Anyone that needs the DL authentication letter urgently from FRSC can send me a PM so that I can share a contact that I got recently. I don't think it would be appropriate to post his phone number and email address here.
Based on available information, you may just be required to arrange for courier service if you don't have someone to pick it up for you in Abuja.
IMO, that is still cheaper than paying $50 to obtain it in Ottawa, especially if you are still in Nigeria. good day, I sent you a PM. I am interested please. |

I also got the same PPR mail, well, I observed that one can send to the nearest VAC in section 1 (preferred). so i sent to Ghana immigration office. secondly, I noticed that It is a major requirement to send your package through aramex to dubai officeand to best of my knowledge, they are not in Abuja cos that is where i reside.
anyways just sent mine today and hoping for a positive outcome. hello, I sent you a PM. please |

Thank you. I didn't add any handling charges cos the Accra website didn't ask for any charges on submission of PP. I even met some people there who came for submission and they did not include any charges. I submitted only the requirements stated in my letter. if there are other things I believe they will send a mail, like they stated on their website. |

JESUSisable: LONG POST ALERT PLS! good morning efam, God is faithful and awesome. I will do a proper timeline and thanksgiving post when you confirm it is what I think it is. You guys have been too awesome. kiss
Woke up to this mail this morning. please is this PPR mail?
- Am I to send it to Dubai office? I have never really seen any applicant on this platform that was required to send passports to Dubai.
- Should I use a prepaid envelope as requested by them, cos I only see people's request is to send to Ghana VO and they use a one way dhl package. I don't know which one is ARAMEX courier mail? Can I use dhl to send the mail from here? (I have highlighted this part of the letter in red)
- I also see in the mail that this Dubai visa office charges service fee for PASSPORT TRANSMISSION SERVICE (saw this description from their website United Arab Emirates: http://www.vfsglobal.ca/canada/uae/). Have you heard of this before? How do I go about payment please? (I have highlighted this part of the letter in red)
WE ARE READY TO ISSUE YOUR VISA(S).
Please review your mailing address above and advise us of any updates.
Dear xxxxx,
The processing of your application for permanent residence in Canada is almost complete. You must complete the following steps within 30 days in order for our office to issue your Confirmation of Permanent Residence and, if applicable, your permanent residence visa. If for any reason you are not able to meet this deadline, please inform us immediately by email to: abdbiimmigration@international.gc.ca with details concerning your situation.
STEP 1: Change in Circumstances:
Should any of the following circumstances apply to you or any accompanying family member, you must inform this office immediately:
· Change in marital status, for example due to marriage, divorce, legal separation, annulment or death of spouse;
· Change in family composition, for example due to adoption or birth of a child, including a child born to your accompanying dependent child,
· Death of principal applicant, spouse, accompanying children, or death of sponsoring relative;
· Change in health;
· You or any of your accompanying family members being charged or convicted of a criminal offence
· Change in contact information: mailing address, e-mail address, or telephone number.
Your failure to inform CIC of any of these changes may result in the cancellation of your permanent resident visa and may render you and your accompanying family members inadmissible to Canada.
Your failure to declare all of your family members, accompanying or not, will permanently exclude them from sponsorship under the Family Class regulations.
STEP 2: Passport Requirements – Determine if you need to submit your passport(s)
· Determine whether you require a visa to enter Canada at www.cic.gc.ca/ENGLISH/visit/visas.asp
· Please note that if you or your accompanying family members are permanent residents of the U.S.A and a holder of a passport which requires a visa to enter Canada, you are still required to submit your passport(s).
If you require a visa to enter Canada, then submit your passport(s):
· Please provide your passport or travel document and a passport or travel document for each accompanying family member. An accompanying family member must have his or her own passport or travel document.
· There must be at least two blank pages in your passport(s).
· Please note that permanent resident visas cannot be placed in Diplomatic, Official or Military passports or travel documents.
· All passports must be intact and not worn, torn or otherwise damaged; the laminate on the bio-data page must be securely attached. Each page must be securely affixed to the passport; there cannot be any loose pages.
· Ensure that your passport is valid for at least 12 months from the date of this letter.
If you do not require a visa to enter Canada:
· Please submit one photocopy of the photo page and any pages containing amendments of the passport for you and one for each accompanying family member.
· Ensure that your passport is valid for at least 12 months from the date of this letter.
· Please note that you cannot use a Diplomatic, Official or Military passport to travel to Canada to become a permanent resident of Canada. You must be in possession of an ordinary passport.
STEP 3: PREPARE YOUR DOCUMENTS
You must submit together:
1. One copy of this letter.
2. Passport(s) OR photocopy(ies) of passport(s), as explained in Step 2.
3. Two (2) photos of yourself and of each accompanying family member respecting precise specifications that can be found at:
www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/pdf/5445EB-e.pdf
STEP 4: SUBMIT YOUR DOCUMENTS
All required documents must be submitted in one single package. There are 3 ways to submit your passport(s).
OPTION

If you do not write your address CLEARLY on your return airway bill, your passport(s) may be lost in transit.
Your passport(s) will be returned to you by Aramex courier at your expense.
Passports are very valuable and we want to ensure that they are returned to you safely. It is in your best interest to complete the airway bill or return envelope yourself, if applicable.
NOTE: The Embassy’s Immigration Section is no longer open to the public. Therefore, you cannot drop-off your passport(s) in person at the Embassy.
We are looking forward to receiving your package within 30 days to conclude your application for permanent residence in Canada.
Important information after you arrive in Canada:
Permanent residents (PRs) of Canada must carry and present a valid PR card or permanent resident travel document (PRTD) when boarding a flight to Canada, or travelling to Canada on any other commercial carrier. If you do not have a PR card, you need to apply for a PRTD, or you may not be able to board your flight, train, bus or boat to Canada.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/travel-document/index.asp
It is your responsibility to ensure that your PR card is still valid when you return from travel outside Canada, and to apply for a new PR card when your current card expires. If your PR card expires, it does not mean you have lost permanent resident status.
Yours sincerely,

Check her occupation on the list; if she qualifies for PR visa, push her well to apply for it. A PR visa is definitely better than a spousal visa- and IMO, easier to get if you qualify. |
To support what @Bellong has mentioned. It is highly advisable to assess both your educational qualification and relevant work experience for the following reasons.
1) If you plan to practice as an Engineer you have to belong to EA and your assessment will serve as the starting point for stage 1. 2) It validates your foreign degree that gives comfort to employers in Australia. 3) Assessing your relevant work experience makes it easier for Australian Immigration to process your application and hence makes it faster. 99.99% of the time, Australian Immigration accepts EA's number of years for work experience. This saves you the trouble of unnecessary work validation process during visa processing.
When I initially applied to EA for assessment, I applied under Washington Accord for my MSc from UK. EA told me that my MSc was not enough to be considered under Washington Accord since my BEng was not from the UK. I had to assess my BEng through CDR and use the MSc as continuing professional development. Therefore I had to re-apply under CDR + Relevant Work Experience Assessment. That going back and forth wasted some precious time and I feel I should share it with you to avoid it. I also advise you to use fast track option if you can afford the addtional AUD275. It is worth it - trust me.
Please note that when submitting your application to EA, you have to nominate an occupation that you will be assessed on since it is CDR. As long as you have a degree in Engineering, it usually does'nt matter what field of Engineering you nominated provided that you can prove to EA that you have relevant work experience in that field. In writing my CDR, I used my MSc thesis and the other two from the work I did in the profession I nominated. Use professional Engineer as @Bellong mentioned.
Good luck!
thank you for this update, much appreciated. i have an OND in mechanical engineering and bsc in mechanical as well, i was thinking if i could assess my OND as CDR and use my BEng as continuing professional development. please your answer would be highly appreciated. thank you |
