Jobs/VacanciesRe: Apply For 2015/2016 Shell Petroleum Graduate Programme by Omaobe: 6:14pm On Dec 15, 2015
ksstroud:
By this, SRD could be a smooth ride... More of it.... grin
davide470:
OPEC does not pump more than its ceiling, every OPEC member has a quota of production which is being adhered to; Saudi Arabia the highest while Iran is making a grand re-entrance. Also, Oil firms are drastically affected by this slurge as profitability occurs if the cost of producing 1 barrel of Oil is lower than the price of Oil, so greater technological development in exploration might not be feasible at this time.
Also, there is not going to be a Lesser exploration with great advancement if non-OPEC members (US and Brothers) refuses to cut production, instead, OPEC (Saudi Arabia) would call for increase in production, notwithstanding the cost price.
The Oil war, also called "market share war" is between Saudi Arabia and US & Brothers!
COOLCATS:
Good points but at present OPEC pumps more than the ceiling. I think it's about 32 now. I don't see it go up but I think it will remain with little +/- changes. I think the interviewers might be looking beyond the commercial side of this i.e demand and supply. It's apparent the energy companies are having a tough time. They have cut everything "cuttable". My thought is this slump would lead to greater technological development in exploration as companies would want to explore cheaper than what it is. Lesser exploration with great advancement would result to a high price in the near future tho might not be in the next year.
Upcoming election in the states is also something that may affect price. I can't tell if it would be positive or negative.
davide470:
In the light of the recent happenings and pronouncement by OPEC, the elevated levels of production will continue, and the global oil market will remain oversupplied.
Also, with Iran already getting in the heat of the “market share war”, OPEC is more likely to raise the “current” production ceiling of 30MMbpd in recognition of Iran’s entry, rather than cut. This will pressure crude oil price in 2016, say Q1 - Q2 and hopefully OPEC will meet before its scheduled June 2016 meeting if prices get too low in their views.
In summary, Oil prices ain't going up for a while.
I can 100% guarantee you that Shell will never ask you this kind question either during the phone interview or the SRD. Remember, you are being employed as a graduate not as a professional. You can merely discuss this kind question as a brain teaser here. Nothing more!

I haven't forced anyone to do anything nor asked for money to give this info freely.
I chose to comment on this thread, cos of some misleading info I noticed some people have been giving out.. Even if shell CEO that's resident at Hague is on Nairaland, it doesn't affect anything nor does it change anything. Worry about you and not the multitude. I'd pick his call and he'd sure say thank you for helping. "People can worry sha"
A lot of people hate to see others being helped, I'm used to this by now. But you see me, as far as its this Nairaland, I'd keep helping... People have helped me freely too.
Someone said, it's crazy and he doesn't want... That's funny. I can't remember forcing you or knocking on your door. It would do you best to let others do what's not harmful as it does no harm to try in life.
You remember the story of the cripples that chose to try, they entered into the city gate and they found food. They knew they could either sit and still die or go into the city and still die.
I'm glad one person got a positive response and shared with me. I'm fulfilled. It's legal and completely legal... It's crazy because it takes guts to do this, as it is with entrepreneurship too.
All the best again to everyone.
My guy, don't mind those guys. Just gboju. They just think they sabi but they sabi nothing.

Thumb up for yah!
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Apply For 2015/2016 Shell Petroleum Graduate Programme by Omaobe: 10:43am On Dec 01, 2015
FACTS:

1. This thread is too negligible to generalise the happenings here to the entire 2015 SRD in Nigeria. Millions of people applied and do not know nairaland exist not to talk of this thread.

2. Many people have already been scheduled for interview since the close of application but you will not know. In fact, there are some that only observe all the comments here without making a single comment but have already been scheduled for interviews. Also, some people will stop making comments after being scheduled for interviews to keep everything to their chests.

I got to know these last when I announced my interview schedule on last year's thread after 4 days of the close of application. I was bombarded with a lot of pms from known and unkwown people from the last year thread. They all wanted me to guide them after their interview schedules.

Please, don't do the same here. Try and cooperate.

3. You only get the feel of the real application process after the interview schedule.

4. Everything about being scheduled for the interview is all about luck. Pray for your luck.

5. All the best.

I applied for a commercial role. Status says pending interview ever since and yet people are scheduled for SRD's already. Now i'm worried
Your worry is normal and quiet understandable. But I wud tell u not to worry at all. Just take a chill pill as pple commonly say here. From my own experience, 'Pending Interview' shows that u'r sti very much in d race, a step ahead and you wi surely b scheduled for d interview one day. I wish all of us successes at our various stages.

@ Pendrotech and Omaobe, Please accept my congratulations for making it to the SRD.
This is the much I can tell you without compromising the integrity of the recruitment process:
1. Ensure that you acknowledge the receipt of the invitation and inform them if you can make it or not. Shell is one of the most organised companies and they will need this info. to prepare for your SRD.
2. The dress code is formal Business dress code. so a good conservative color suit should suffice, even though shell says they do not asses dressing.
3. Plan to be at the venue of the SRD in good time. if you can find an accommodation close to the venue, that will be the best for you.
4. There is no specific academic way to prepare for the SRD so don't listen to people telling you that they have past questions and stuff, all na lie.
5. The recruiters(at least from my experience) are nice, helpful but very professional. They sabi their work wella), so the most important thing is to be yourself, don't try to form guru or try to impress anybody, they can see through your mask.
6. on the first day, you will have a non- assessed session where you will have the opportunity to meet recent shell grads, that is employees of not more that three years or so. you will get the chance to ask them anything you want to ask them about shell, working condition and all but please professional don't ask questions you should not ask... find out what that is. of course shell dey provide coorrect grub but don't get carried away, you are on business.
7. The recruitment process is tough, educating, enlightening, and demanding so you have to try to be at the top of your game.
8. The world process is centred round CAR. you should understand that by now!
9. Practice your e-tray from the link in the briefing pack.
10. I don't know if you are tech or commercial but there will definitely be a group exercise where you will be put together and given a task to work on as a group. Be yourself, respect other people, speak up if you have something to say, you must speak up because unless you talk there will be nothing to assess you on. BUT don't talk for talking sake, no gra-gra, sabi-sabi.... I recommend you watch my favorite reality show (NO BE STUPID, BIG BROTHER DUMB SHIT), watch Donald Trump's THE APPRENTICE, seriously.
11. there will be an intervie like the one you had on the phone interview, so prepare to demonstrate your CAR
12. I DON'T CARE IF SHELL GIVES ME A JOB OR NOT (I KNOW I DESERVE IT AND WILL DEFINITELY ADD VALUE TO SHELL, IF EMPLOYED) BUT I WANT TO SAY WITHOUT FEAR OF CONTRADICTION THAT THEIR RECRUITMENT PROCESS IS WORLD CLASS AND THE VERY BEST SO FAR I HAVE SEEN. SO DON'T GO THERE FLAUNTING YOUR FIRST CLASS, HALF CLASS AND STUFF....NO ...NO...NO... SHELL LOOKS OUT FOR YOUR "EDUCATION" AND NEVER YOUR "QUALIFICATION". As long as you are at the SRD, it doesn't matter which school you attended. I was the only one in my SRD without an Overseas degree but (to the glory of God, NA YOLA I GO SCHOOL FOR NORTH, AM FROM THE NORTH TOO) I know I have a world class education and was among the ones God favored with success at the SRD.
13. You will be given a background document on the first day which you are required to study over the night. The whole SRD processes, Case studies, group exercise, will be based on that background.
14. Be prepared to learn from the experience because it is great and you can't find it in any Nigerian recruitment institution. No god father here just YOU AND YOURSELF.
15. FINALLY BELIEVE THAT GOD IS IN PERFECT CONTROL OF ALL THE HAPPENINGS IN THE UNIVERSE AND BE PATIENT AFTER THE SRD COS even if you succeed you may not get the JOB immediately or even eventually(I learnt this from some people, don't know if true or false)
16.Shell recruitment process will surely introduce YOU to YOU!!!
17. keep a link and make friends from the SRD who knows if God just wanted you to meet someone there and not a job at shell?
18.. I will be praying for you ALL and if you have any questions PM your boy, I still remain loyal(Don't ask me specific questions or past questions and such nonesense)
19. change your usernames to: omaobe@shell.com and pendrotech@shell.com because you will definitely be my colleagues in SHELL....
20. PRAY... PRAY.... PRAY....
peace and luv
I don't know what to write than to write THANK YOU so much for this candid advice. I realy appreciate this.

Besides, I studied Economics and I applied for a commercial role as you alluded to in one of your comments above.

I'v sent u a PM. Pls reply. Thank u so much once again.

I had my SRD at Eko hotel in Lagos on the 4-5 November, 2014. It was wonderful experience. I must state that Shell's recruitment process is very fair and transparent. There were six of us and Shell staff always encouraged us to do our best stating that all of us could be successful. They provided every support you needed to do well in the SRD. So those who applied should be positive. I will share my experience fully when I get the offer letter which will be soon. NEVER GIVE UP FOR ANY REASON WHATEVER, " To him that is joined with the living, THERE IS HOPE!!!" by t he way, my status still reads " FINAL ASSESSMENT SCHEDULED"
God will bless us with His favour this year!!! Keep on keeping on!
I wish u the very best outcome from your SRD. But I will like u to share ur experience now unconditionally. You know that could help someone out there?

Besides, when did u av your phone interview and when did they contact u abt d outcome?
