GeneralFarouq post=7396.3436:

So what u are saying is, everyone in the military deserves to be killed by Boko haram for the actions of the few....
Such a pity, i doubt if any of Uramily member has served in any security agency....

Read again, I never said anyone deserves to be killed, i only said I dont sometimes feel pity.

I've witnessed their brutality and its too bad

That's the video, then a lot of people will wander why some people don't feel pity when Nigerian military personnel are killed by boko haram.

Do you remember the community were cars were found in there river, wetin their eyes see eh, army personnel will drink in bar, they won't pay you and still beat you on top of it, houses were scattered and looted and other rubbish.
Just because it's happening in the USA, does that mean it should happen in Nigeria... Patriotism is not about the love for the Army, but for the country, the funny thing i that you will still see people and the government defending this nonsense and trash... The Nigerian Army needs a serious reform and reorientation, but a military that does not value the lives of her own men, will it value that of civilians This sort of barbarity and savagery can't and shouldn't be allowed in Nigeria.

People that do turn a blind eye to this savagery by the military will have their love ones affected by it someday so they will feel what others are feeling.

People who defend injustices like this have NEVER had a family relative experience such inbthe hands of these power drunk men. If they have, I bet u their perspective will be different.

.....sorry to say this, sometimes I don't feel pity when boko haram- who is a near match to them compared to unarmed civilians- decimate them....its like karma.

Though not all of them are brutal, a very few of them are nice

Finally here in Zari after the weather elongate our journey. The media seems to have hyped the attack. I have counted 46 dead bokoharam today. Inspected the perimeter line and the line of defence was okay but Ammunitions with good range from bokoharam was penetrating the absolute defence lines. Military casualty is what I can't acertain now but my friends here said they have around 17 evacuated as no one was KIA except during the course of evacuation.
Quite relieving to hear. I wonder how these media guys get their fictitious numbers.

The blood of all innocents that has and are still losing their lives because of these selfish humans will be on their head. Their are other better ways this can be done. The so called government officials dont use your services, they go abroad.

May Gods justice prevail on these doctors that swore an oath to save lives but for selfish gain has seen lots of life lost for minor causes.

Was making that mistake my self because my phone was getting hot too, I use an iPhone 7 and it still gets hot as hell, so I put it on the car vent during trips. He should never put his phone off during a trip it affects the fare calc, I repeat he should stop putting off his phone during trip, I lost so much money because of that mistake until I realized what I was doing wrong, luckily for me am driving my own car.

Thanks a bunch sir. Advice noted.

Carshopper, it's tested come carry go

Bro pls I crave ur experiential comment. My driver uses a mobile phone for uber. When he starts a ride, he puts d phone off (it overheats if he doesnt) and puts it on when approaching final destination. Does it affect the calculation of the distance(km) traveled?

Also he did 466km last week and claimed he spent #19k on fuel. Is that possible? Its a corola 2008 1.6l (big size) sound engine

Harbewilliams:
Uber is one business that is worth investing in if you’d like to earn ₦130,000 monthly on a ₦1,700,000 investment. The 2 most important factors to succeed in the business are getting a practical car that is in good working condition. As well as getting a good and trustworthy driver.

E-hailing companies accepts 2003 and above four door cars. However, buying a 2003-2006 model is better so the car can repay itself on time whilst having a life span of 3 to 4 years on the platform before they yank if off.

When choosing the most practical car to use, you have to consider the following factors: Purchase cost, fuel economy, good air conditioner, reliability, maintenance cost, life span, resale value etc..

Despite how lucrative the business is, I noticed several cars have been pulling out of the Uber business due to accidents, reliability issues, fuel consumption especially vehicles with 6 cylinder engines etc.

I want to talk about investment and return on investment (ROI) in the context of E-hailing business (uber, taxify, oga taxi)
So I was researching fixed deposit rates, not to invest but to get a comparison between that and an investment in Uber.

The best rate I was able to get was 3% on a 30 day fix, that is, if you left your money with the bank for 30 days, they would give you an appreciation on your capital of 3%. So I though, let's choose a nominal figure for the sake of this post, a figure of say #1,500,000.

If you fix #1,500,000 naira on a percentage of 3%, at the end of the term, you make a profit (or interest) of 50,000 naira. A whooping sum of #12,500 per week. I believe there is also a service charge, though negligible, it will affect your bottom line.

Now let us look at an equivalent investment on Uber,
Now that e-hailing companies is accepting year 2003 cars and newer.
Let's say you invest in Uber with #1,500,000.
You are guaranteed returns of #130,000 per month
, #32,500 per week.

From my layman calculation that is about 8% compared to fixed deposits' 3%.

Quite a difference when the capital we speak of is #1,500,000 .

Now, I think you may speak of risk. Fixed deposits are essentially risk free, while Uber carries certain risks; accident, theft, fire etc., but that is where insurance comes in. For about #50,000 naira you can negate all risks, for up to 1 year. Over the course of a year, that is 4000 every month. Risk averted.
If we were to deduct interest from risk premium (insurance) we get a profit of 116,000 per month, still much higher than fixed deposit.

One legitimate concern of course is, what happens to mechanic costs when you have to fix the car (this is a variable and highly dependent on other factors, also it is unpredictable so I won't calculate that here), if you get a good vehicle, you don't have to worry about mechanic costs, I have been driving my car on Uber for 3 months and haven't had cause to visit a mechanic, so it's been all profit for me.

So how do you get a good car? Leave that to us, we can help you source for well-maintained vehicles from reputable car dealerships.
As fleet managers, we can help you purchase sound vehicles for your investment.

It is worthy to mention that no investment vehicle (no pun intended) is devoid of risk, fixed deposits are affected by inflation while Uber vehicles are affected by depreciation.

I think any investment that out performs the local fixed deposit rates is a good investment. Think about it.

Invest in Uber today.

Bank interest rate dont work that way. The 3% rate Will be calculate for an annum first then broken down to one month if thats how long u intend keeping the deposit. 3% of 1.5 equals 45k. 45,000 divided by 12months equals 3,750. You get 3750 monthly and not 45k. The interest rates are currently higher than 3% though. Open to corrections.

Apparently some guys on this thread are frustrated slowpokes. I can tell from their comments here. I'm new on Uber, I tot there is usually inspection of cars only to be told something else today at their office. I see no crime trying to hear from ppl with experience to confirm if there used to be inspection. Its possible the lady who attended to me wasn't on same page with me. Also I wasn't d only guy at Uber office today, I'm sure other ppl will ask same question I did and might still be nairalanders too. If u don't have any positive thing to say just hush!!!
