CapnCrunch:

Interesting How a small satellite country like Ghana brings Nigerians together toward a common cause, maybe we should just invade and annex them, probably will create some nationalism we have been lacking

Nigerians do not take kindly to outsiders who insult their country. Nationalism is sorely need in Nigeria, but I do not believe that it will ever happen. It is 50 years too late. Only an outside threat can unite Nigerians towards a common cause.

Nigeria seizes $9.9 million heroin shipment from Iran

LAGOS (Reuters) –

Nigeria seized $9.9 million worth of heroin concealed in auto parts shipped from Iran, its anti-drugs agency said on Friday, days after the West African country reported Tehran to the U.N. over an illegal arms seizure.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said the haul at the Apapa seaport in Lagos on Thursday, one of its biggest recent seizures, was based on "strong intelligence" received from foreign collaborators about four months ago.

Based on the intelligence, the agency had closely monitored the consignment and some key players behind its shipment before it arrived in Lagos, NDLEA spokesman Mitchell Ofoyeju said.

"The NDLEA , decided to get a welder to cut open the engine parts and behold, we found hidden inside them 130 kg of heroin with a street value of about 1.5 billion naira ($9.91 million)," Ofoyeju told Reuters.

"The consignment was from Iran and we have arrested three Nigerians connected with the illicit drugs."

Nigeria reported Tehran to the United Nations Security Council last week after its secret service intercepted an illegal arms shipment from Iran at its main port of Lagos last month.

Rockets and other explosives hidden in containers of building materials were shipped to Nigeria from Iran in an apparent breach of U.N. sanctions imposed over Tehran's refusal to halt a sensitive nuclear program.

Nigeria is not a major narcotics consumer, but like several other coastal West African nations, it is a majortransit hub for trafficking in hard drugs from Asia and Latin America to Western markets thanks to lax customs controls and corruption.

Ghana is a beautiful country with a rich culture. Accra, Kumasi and Cape Coast are my favorite cities in Ghana. Nigeria is also a beautiful country as well. Enugu, Abuja, and Calabar are my favorite cities in Nigeria. However, both nations suffer from the same problems in terms of poverty and industrialization. The only difference that I have noticed is that Ghana's democracy is flourishing, in which you are able to see two parties compete each other in the form of NDC and NPP. Nigeria on the other hand has PDP at the national level.

Why is there any competition between Ghana and Nigeria? You cannot compare both countries. The population demographics are very different from the demographics found in Nigeria. The entire South East population is more than the population of Ghana, so why compare the two countries?

I am still of the opinion that we are all ethnic groups.

Yoruba is an ethnic group made up of different tribal nations. The same goes for the Igbo who are made up of different tribal nations.

I am in total agreement with this. How can the Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa be considered a tribe when we each have 25+ million populations? While the Welsh in the UK are barely 600,000, but they are considered an ethnic group? It is a racist term used against Africans.

Igbos = Ethnic Group
Mbaise, Ngwa, Nri-Igbo, Ibeku = Igbo tribes

Many of my American professors would ask what tribe am I from? I would correct them by saying I am not from a tribe, I am from an ethnic group.

Na wa o! People made an innocent thread into a tribalistic thread. I weep for Nigeria.

I still consider the Fulani in the north a separate group. They do not consider themselves Hausa, but Fulani, Fulfude or Peula in their native language.

I hate how people always destroy threads with tribal rantings. My fellow people just ignore the cockroaches that are defiling this thread and stick to the issues.
