I have no reason to answer nkita ara. Inferior creatures are not worthy of response. If you enjoy rolling around the ground with the animals, that is your business, not my own.

Onlytruth:

You mean it is ok to accept their branding of Ndigbo?
Dude what is wrong with you?

How long do you think it takes before brands start to stick?
If you don't understand it, why not just clear from the road?  undecided undecided angry

I do not accept outsiders opinion of the Ndi Igbo. I have no need, when our very own Igbo brothers and sisters know that there are problems on the horizon.

It is best to ignore those who know nothing about our people. When you get drawn into their petty battles, this is when they win. Just relax.

Onlytruth,

Sometimes it is best to ignore these guys.  undecided You fell into their trap.

Either way, I support this piece on the Igbo Nation. We need a complete overhaul of our modern day society. Can't worry about the rest of Nigeria when our own backyard is in flames.

You are wrong my friend.

tribe -
–noun
1.
any aggregate of people united by ties of descent from a common ancestor, community of customs and traditions, adherence to the same leaders, etc

Nnewi people are united by ties of descent from a common ancestor. The same goes for the Nri Igbo and all the other Igbo clans.

We are united into one Igbo ETHNIC group, because of our language.

blakmonsta:

You are wrong and correct at the same time

clan/tribe are similar but not interchangeable in all situations

both are completely INAPPROPRIATE for use describing the ethnic groups in Nigeria

There is no such thing as the igbo clan, or igbo tribe. Finish.

Of course our ethnic groups are not clan. I am not arguing that. I am arguing the fact that our ethnic groups are made up of different clans/tribes.

The example I like to use is the clans that make up the Igbo: Nnewi, Anioma, Ikwerre, Aro, Ibeku, Ukwa, Ika, Ngwa etc.

Nigeria really has problems if we continue to recycle these leaders.
Culture / Re: Fulani Population And Fulfulde Turning Into Hausa And Yoruba, Fear To Be Extinct by Omenani(m): 9:49pm On Nov 22, 2010
We cannot allow this to happen. However, Fulani is still widely spoken in other nations such as Senegal, Mali, Niger, Guinea-Bissau, Mauritania etc. It is still spoken in Northern Cameroon as well. It is a pleasant language to listen to.

This is common for many born in the Diaspora. It doesn't matter if they are Nigerian, Ghanaian, South African, Chinese, Japanese or Korean. He is not the only one who suffers from this.

However, it is never too late to learn about your culture. I know of someone who started in his early 20s. He did not know anything about his Igbo culture, but now he is a fluent speaker to the extent, that he can speak "Deep Igbo" better than those who were raised in Igboland.

Reclaim your heritage and be proud that you are African.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do not mind the people who has criticized you. It is not your fault. By starting this thread, it shows that you wish to learn. That is the first step. Now you must take the leap! Go to Nigeria for a month. Go to your village. Go to a city. Go somewhere, just interact with the people and they will accept you with open arms.

I see that you say your mother is Igbo. Is your father also Igbo? If so, then we Igbos have a saying. "Igbo bu Igbo." Igbo is Igbo. No matter where you are born, you are still considered an Igbo man in our eyes.

Aren't clans actually another name for tribe? Many African societies are still clan based. You find that among the Native Americans and some Middle Eastern ethnic group. For example, Arabs are an ethnic group, but they are made up of different tribal/clan loyalties. As we progress and lose our clan identity, then will not have to focus on tribe.

Correct me if I am wrong.
Politics / Re: Is This Why "they" Love Brazil? by Omenani(m): 9:01pm On Nov 22, 2010
Brazil is a nice place filled with beautiful women. I remember seeing a special concerning Nigerian drug peddlers in Brazil. They are as ruthless as the drug lords found in Rio. I also heard of a Nigerian gang that broke out of jail in Brazil.

Abacha was far from the worse. I think Mengistu of Ethiopia, Idi Amin of Uganda or Mobutu Sese Seko of the DRC are the top 3 in my opinion.

MShittu:

Although a good development, having more Igbo governors won't stop Igbo marginalization until true federalism is actualized and states are more empowered.

This is very true. I can see from your postings that you have a good heart.
