adefash: this is a philosophy class where if you cannot prove your points, though you may be correct, but will not be acceptable. We once raised a dog brought from village.we started feeding him with wet garri.it was gladly eating it. We started adding sugar, it started rejecting garri without sugar. We graduated to giving him solid foods. With time he started rejecting garri even when it had sugar. A tenant parked into our house. She normaly comes in with fast foods and will take the remnants to the dogs. She was always doing this. What we noticed was that the dog started reject eba, amala, rice without plantain we were offering him.he became our tenant's pet.when our tenant packed out, the dog stopped eating from us since we were not feeding him with fast foods. This is not thinking.if you do that to 100 dogs, you get the same result. You cannot get the same result if you that to 100 sane human beings. Human being for reasons do that which is not convinient to them because they taught over it.as we see some children who become wayward because their parents cannot cater for their needs while we have seen alot who will not do that for integrity sake.we have seen people who are upright today when ppl could vouch for them and tomorrow, they are some thing else and the same ppl are suprised that so this brother can do this. Animals are predictable because they cant think to do otherwise but sane humans are very unpredictable because they think.Do you know what they call conditioning? Human beings can as well be conditioned to follow a certain pattern that is irreversable. What happens to those who have been brain washed? Can we say they don't think? It has even be proven that mad men think but only in distorted manner. Animals actions are driven by instincts and 'thinking'. That the actions of dog A will always be similar to that of dog B under same circumstances is not only debatable but leaves much to be imagined. And that notion to the best of my knowledge is wrong. From documentaries, it has been proven that animals are intelligent. I have seen a documentary of a pig that can identify figures, shapes and can play computer games. It only takes a thinking animal to do this. Even the rats in our houses think. What tells them to avoid the traps set to kill them, instinct? No my friend, it takes more. Their brain tells them! |
Shymexx sef, shebi you said you have nothing to do with religion, so why not leave religion to those who practise it? ![]() |
adefash: i like the way you statrted your post by saying you would like to believe that animals think for so so reason. We can not ascertain that they think or otherwise but we can infer from what we think they do since we have not been in their forms before, at least i have not been an animal before.Your points are not in agreement with your conclusion. Some human actions are predictable so are some animal actions. I want a better argument from you to reason along but with this, you have made no point. ![]() |
Why are some regarded as intelligent? Me believe that thinking is an exclusive right of intelligent beings. Therefore, animals think but the degree at which they do it varies. |

By Samuel Burke Saudi Princess opens up about women's rights in her country Ameerah al-Taweel is a privileged princess from Saudi Arabia; but she is also on the frontlines of fighting for women’s rights in her country, which is among the most oppressive for women anywhere in the world. Her husband, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, is one of the richest men in the world and is the nephew of Saudi King Abdullah. In that Kingdom, a woman can't travel alone, can't drive a car and can't even take a job without the approval of her male guardian. But the Princess Ameerah is speaking out in ways clerics and conservatives in Saudi Arabia don't really want to hear. Ameerah says she’s often asked why women can’t drive in Saudi Arabia, which she believes should be reformed. “I think it's a very easy decision. And it is for the government. A lot of people are saying this is a social issue…. Education was a social issue. And a lot of people in Saudi Arabia were against women getting educated. Yet the decision was made.” She says 57 percent of university graduates are now women. GOD'S WARRIORS: Women's rights in Islam Being such an open member of the royal family doesn’t always win her points. She says she does get pushback. “I received some criticisms and I do get some negative feedback. But at the same time, I don't represent all Saudi women. There are Saudi women who are against such a movement. I represent maybe a sector of young Saudi women.” Ameerah says conservatives have an amazing lobby within the Kingdom. “They know how to voice out their opinions. Us women, not yet,” she says. “Yes, we are very educated. We know exactly what we want, but we're not organized.” She says conservatives are also savvy at using op-eds and social media to help get their message out. And while more liberal-minded women are taking to these mediums, Ameerah says they have yet to unite to find combined strength. She is in New York to announce a global project, millions of dollars from her foundation to improve economic and job opportunities and also help resolve conflicting religious views. She says it’s been very unfortunate to witness the violent acts among Arab youth in response to the anti-Muslim film on YouTube. “[The film] was offensive. It was wrong. And at the same time, the reaction of violence, killing innocent people who had nothing to do with the film is wrong as well. Two wrongs don't make a right.” Ameerah says the lack of institutions in the Arab world is working against youths. “Now they have the chance to express themselves; they have freedom of speech, and at the same time, there isn't any channel whereby they express their opinions in an appropriate manner – a civil society or NGOs. Even their own new governments are not well structured yet.” She hopes her initiative can help bridge the gap for the wider Muslim world and specifically for women in her country. “You have a lot of women starting their own lobbies, and it's about time that we get together and we voice out our concerns, just like the conservatives do, through democratic means, where we don't put ourselves in the face of danger.” Calls for Muslim restraint amid violent film protests http://amanpour.blogs.cnn.com/2012/09/20/saudi-princess-opens-up-about-womens-right-in-saudi-arabia/ |
