PoliticsRe: What Made Nigeria So Populated by omodapson(m): 4:57pm On Dec 17, 2010
This is the dumbest post of the year. What has country size got to do with population. If that is the case, then Russia should have the largest population in the world. Go and ask the tiny Island of Japan how they managed to be ranked among the largest population in the world.
PoliticsRe: Alao Akala Commended On Exellent Performance by omodapson(m): 3:40pm On Dec 10, 2010
It is said that birds of the same feather flock together. I cannot help but marvel at this type of commendation. How can anyone in his right senses commend someone who has only helped make the state worse than he met it. I was in Ibadan last weekend, the spate of infrastructural decay in the capital is at an alarming rate. If a state of emergency is not declared on the State, I'm afraid, Oyo State will be lost on the Nigeria map.

@Wesley 80: Troussier was not a failure, NFA made him look like one. He qualified Nigeria effortlessly for the 1998 world cup with a match to spare only for NFA to kick him out.

^^^
please check ur dicko you will notice that jeep has two meanings; one - a brand name while the other describes it as any vehicle for rough terrain. The fact that Jeep was the oldest off road vehicle has made it a general name for SUVs. Mind you, each culture has a right to its own language and I believe the country is ripe for its own version of English.
SportsRe: Calling Lionel Messi The Greatest Player In The World Must Stop! - Pele by omodapson(m): 9:16pm On Apr 14, 2010
They said the same thing about Ronaldinho, where is he today? Not even relevant to be called into the Brazillian team. Let's give Messi the chance to really prove himself before we start calling him the greatest! Can he continue to play at the topmost level the way Zidane did even to the point of retirement?

SportsRe: Amodu Ruined My Dream - Kanu by omodapson(m): 9:45am On Feb 20, 2010
Blue Magic:
Even when he had the opportunity to score in a penalty shoot out in 2002 nations cup he goofed. Kanu used to be d man, now he is a ghost of himself. He needs to hang up his boots or his boots will hang him!
Was there a penalty shootout against Senegal in 2002? People should get their facts right before coming to make any post here. As much as I know, a penalty was awarded to Nigeria during the match and Kanu was the architect of the penalty but Oruma took the kick and missed the chance to draw us level with Senegal. Senegal went on to win 2-1 and there was no record of a penalty shootout in the game.

Kanu never scored a goal at any of the AFCON he featured but he provided numerous scoring opportunities for others to score. He should be proud of that achievement.

PoliticsRe: Regional Poverty In Nigeria- North, South-West Worse Hit by omodapson(m): 10:03pm On Dec 26, 2009
People should stop arguing blindly. What has infrastructures got to do with the impoverish state of the people of an area. There are many African countries with better infrastructures but the people in some of these countries live in abject poverty. Zimbabwe is a good example! I have traveled to many states in Nigeria and I can say from the level of poverty that I've experienced that there is no region that is a poverty stricken as the North.

It is only in the North that you can travel 5 hours on a motor bike on a dusty God forsaken road  to get to another village! Those who probably think that the North is well developed are only the privileged Notherners who have not traveled to the interiors of the North. The road in the North are longer because of the land mass the region enjoys and it could have been the same for the South if the South also enjoys big land mass. My logic tells me that no matter the distance between a state and another, you just have to create a link.

Also, you can't judge a bull by its horns. When you go to most of the villages in the North, their cry is usually "those of you in the South are so privileged". Thank God my job takes me to the interiors in the North.

One thing that should be noted is that we are all still very "poor" in Nigeria, and the development some are being egoistic about is not development when you compare it with what obtains in Industrial/advanced nations. We should stop deceiving ourselves about the physical infrastructures we see.

Just a statement for thought: How many times have we seen an Ibo begging for alms in our major cities? But go anywhere in Nigeria, you will surely see the Notherners in their thousands and the South Westerners in their hundreds. I stand to be corrected.

I also agree with poster. The Gombe-Yola road is the worst I've ever traveled in Nigeria. At the thought of going through the same road on my way back from Yola, I flew out of the town.

SportsRe: Has Nigeria Ever Produced A World Class Player? by omodapson(m): 5:56pm On Aug 08, 2008
some people claim drogba is a world class player. well i think appealing to sentiments rather than fact. every real world class player i know must have at least won a continental trophy for either club or country. what has drogba won? pele, maradona, zidane, henry, ronaldinho, eto'o, kanu etc had at one time or another inspired their team to victory at the premium level. it is true that frogba is good but he is not yet qualified to be called a world class player.

SportsRe: Has Nigeria Ever Produced A World Class Player? by omodapson(m): 1:07pm On Aug 05, 2008
Maybe people don't get facts before coming to post. From an internationally recognised tv programme, George Finidi was rated as one of the few world class footballers of his generation. I stand to be corrected.

Secondly, if Okocha is not a world class how come Pele listed him among best players of all time. Pele is an authority in the game. abeg naija this is not a question of sentiments. Nigeria has and will continue to produce world class players.

About Kanu, which other player(s) in Africa has won more honours than him? The records are there to be disputed. In 1996, he was recognised by fifa as one of the top 6 players in the world. If not for the heart problem that incapacitated him, I am sure he would have done more amazing things than he had done till date.

Why is Nigeria constantly on the world map of international football if not for our world class players? Make we think again ooooooooo,
SportsRe: Has Nigeria Ever Produced A World Class Player? by omodapson(m): 12:26pm On Aug 04, 2008
Who says Kanu, JJ, Finidi and even Rashidi Yekini are not exclusive world class players? What we have forgotten is the fact that most of these players we call world class are over hyped by european journalists who belived everything european is the best save brazillians. Drogba as a striker is only termed world class because he plays for a good club where he gets good assists. I believe there are many unsung heroes out there who are really world class.

Maradona, Pele, Platini, Weah, and recently zidane ronaldinho, henry, eto'o, riquelme to mention but a few are undoubtedly world class players so also okocha, kanu, finidi were they europeans
