A 14 year old teenage girl was forced to have sex with more than 1000 men over two years at a motel in Philadelphia, a lawsuit claims. The girl was forced into "sex slavery" with men up to four times her age at the Roosevelt Inn in the north-east of the city, her lawyer has claimed. The teenager, who was just 14 when the alleged abuse began, is suing the motel, its manager and the company that owns it. The now 17-year-old girl claims she was paid $50 to have sex with several hundred men at the motel after being forced into prostitution in 2013, CBS Philadelphia reported. The motel is alleged to have provided rooms for human traffickers, but Patel, 72, denied any knowledge of this.The lawsuit - filed against the Roosevelt Inn, its parent company UFVS Management Company and the motel manager Yagna Patel - claims the alleged ordeal continued into 2014. The lawsuit claims the defendants 'knew or had constructive knowledge' that the girl was "being sexually exploited". Traffickers are alleged to have advertised sex with the girl online, before encouraging men to come to the motel after agreeing a price over the phone. When they arrived, a hotel clerk would show them to the girl's room, according to the lawsuit, which names a staff member, 'Abdul', who was supposedly aware of the abuse. The lawsuit claims that motel workers should have noticed tell-tale signs of abuse, such as the room allegedly regularly containing used condoms. It also claims that the room "frequently smelled of marijuana" and that men and minors were allegedly seen leaving it. The girl was allegedly treated "aggressively" and would have seemed scared, court documents claim, adding that she often "dressed in a sexually explicit manner". "This child was forced into sex slavery, paid to do things with men double, triple, quadruple her age," her attorney Nadeem Bezar said. Fellow lawyer Tom Kline added: "You have to be blind deaf and dumb not to know that over 100 men are showing up over a period of a couple days. "You have a cleaning crew that comes into the room and often times finds boxes or waste cans full of used condoms. This is about as open and obvious as it gets. "You can't have a line of johns out the front door and around the room waiting without them knowing the linen service was extraordinary. The front desk would direct the traffic to the room of this child." The teenager, who is in therapy, is suing for $50,000 in compensation. "I don't want a dog to come in between my love life and not share the same bed...that's for sure," he said, according to a WhatsApp conversation that was posted on Twitter. "And my mum doesn't like dogs in general." After she explained that's why "it won't work out", he evidently thought she was barking mad. "Are you serious? My god," he said. "Are you sure about your decision. It may be a temporary phase in life when you like dogs. We are talking of your life here." "My mum thought he's an excellent match because he's good-looking and well-off," Walia told BuzzFeed.She insisted she could not "abandon my dog for anyone", to which he replied: "I am sorry to say this. But please marry the dog in that case." "There was a lot of family pressure, and they still think I did the wrong thing by raising the concern about my dog." He continued to try to change her mind but she stood her ground. "He would say things like 'family should be a priority and not career'," Walia said. "I gave up when he commented about my dog. The US Justice Department is suing a town near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for religious discrimination because it refused to issue a permit for a mosque. The suit, which was filed Thursday, seeks to have Bensalem Township give the Bensalem Masjid approval to build the mosque, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. The suit also seeks to have the township pay unspecified damages and offer training for the town’s employees on religious land-use laws. Members of the local Islamic community sought to build a mosque after years of renting a local fire hall for worship, but as plans moved forward, the Bensalem Township Zoning Hearing Board ultimately rejected the application in a 4-0 vote. “Our Constitution protects the rights of religious communities to build places of worship free from unlawful interference and unnecessary barriers,” said Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Vanita Gupta, head of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. “The Department of Justice will continue to challenge unjustified local zoning actions around the country when they encroach upon this important civil right.” The Bensalem Masjid has been involved in the legal action against the town since 2014. The Masjid's lead attorney, Roman Storzer, says the Justice Department's lawsuit demonstrates the seriousness of the problem in the town. Islamophobia has recently spiked in the US following the recent mass shootings and terror attacks in the US and Europe that were falsely blamed on followers of the Islamic faith. Anti-Islam rhetoric has also hit the US presidential election of 2016, with GOP candidate Donald Trump creating a furor in the country and around the world by proposing to ban Muslims from entering the US. The billionaire real-estate mogul also called for a database to track Muslims across the United States, and said the US would have no choice but to close down mosques. Roger Ailes, the founder and chairman of the Fox News American news channel, has resigned after a number of female employees accused him of sexual harassment. Rupert Murdoch’s 21st Century Fox, which owns Fox News, announced his resignation on Thursday. Less than two weeks ago, former Fox News presenter Gretchen Carlson filed a lawsuit against Ailes, claiming sexual harassment. Further allegations surfaced recently in US media that Ailes had sexually harassed Megyn Kelly, another Fox News presenter, about 10 years ago. Ailes, 76, has denied the allegations. He said he was resigning because he had become a "distraction." "I will not allow my presence to become a distraction from the work that must be done every day," Ailes wrote in a letter to Murdoch. A report published last week in the New York magazine said lawyers for 21st Century Fox gave Ailes a deadline of August 1 to resign or face termination. Carlson claims she was fired for refusing to have sex with Ailes. "I had to stand up for myself and speak out for all women and the next generation of women in the workplace," Carlson said. Ailes had denied Carlson's allegations, saying in a statement, "Gretchen Carlson's allegations are false. This is a retaliatory suit for the network's decision not to renew her contract, which was due to the fact that her disappointingly low ratings were dragging down the afternoon lineup." ABUJA—THE Minister of Communication, Mr Adebayo Shittu , has disclosed that Nigeria loses about N127 billion annually to cybercrime. Shittu, who stated this yesterday at the ongoing national conference of the Nigerian Computer Society, NCS, with the theme, Information Technology for national safety and security, told the gathering that the above figure represented 0.08 per cent of the country’s Gross Domestic Products, GDP. While urging the use of Information and Communication Technology ICT, tools and Geographical Information System, GIS, to tackle Boko Haram, Niger Delta militancy and other security challenges with enhanced efficiency and professionalism, the minister expressed concern that Nigeria’s growing dependency on digital infrastructure posed grave threats to national security. Shittu, who warned that the trend had to be reversed immediately for national safety, said: “Many Nigerians now have access to internet facilities. Our citizens now use the enormous opportunities this digital infrastructure brings to work, transact business, campaign, communicate, learn, interact and relax. Today banking, commercial and other critical services are being provided online. “Evidence, however, abounds on growing electronic fraud and threats to digital databases both in private and public sector. Without safety and security, growth is impossible. Information Technology for National Safety and Security as the conference theme, is highly relevant as it aligns with the national safety and security priority of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. “Securing lives and properties is both an enabler and an imperative for growth and development.
