Ok, the major excuse here now is what becomes the riders after the ban base on job and means of their lively hood. I want to believe most of this guys riding okada are just lazy and looking for easier means of making money. A lot of them use to be craftsmen and sort of. Some them left their mechanic, vulganizer, tailoring, bricklaying etc jobs to make faster and easier money riding okada. And I can tell you wen the ban comes into effect, some of them will go back to what dey know how to do best and thus add to the viability of the economy as a whole |
Am not a politician or hardened Fashola supporter, but why do so many of us always like to crucify dis man for every policy he comes up with. Sincerely, I totally support the issue of total ban on this okada issue. I know some states has ban the okada business earlier and heaven did not fall. Considering security and health issues involved, what do you expect the governor to do? Fold his hands and assume everything is ok? Moreover, is Fashola d genesis of Nigeria rate of unemployment? Imagine thousands of ppl that troops into lagos everyday just to get involved with the so call okada business with so many of them having no place to live. Finally, av always said this, Megacities are not meant for everyone. Cities like Moscow, Paris, London, Tokyo even New York are freaking xpensive to live and you just don't pack a nylon bag, hang on moving trailer and believes every existence is all about living in lagosm |
Well, lovely write up.sincerely, I'll say the ibos are the most business oriented ppl in Nigeria. TRUE. And all respect to them. No tribe can take that from them. Though, sometimes I wonder why they are not the best in any field. Haulage~surely the Hausas (Dangotes, Dantatas) automobile~(Ade ojo Elizade) Telecom (Glo) Banking (GTB) still d best in dis country. Textile (Dangote) cement~thats easy. Estate devpmt~ fatimilehin and J.T. Oli n gas~very easy. Auditing~Akintola williams & co. Leisures, Hotels etc. Multi-national industries, Construction industies, and the list goes on and on, |
I believe d worst of them all are d Enginners. I don't blame the government using the foreigners for every little construction. The civil enginners are even more pathetic. They just love cutting corners and delivering a terrible work all in the name of maximizing profit. Was at Magodo some few weeks ago to inspect a newly built duplex with a client, you need see the finishing of the house, Horrible! Yet the property goes for 65million and we were made to believe it was built by a well known civil expert. Big SHAME!!! |

Goodluck himself is a neophyte in governance, seems confused on how to govern Nigeria, has lack of charisma and leadership skills to take nigeria forward, his scrotum obviously is in some sort of cabals pocket,a fidgety president always sweating even at the slightest stress, fat nosed president, was overated during the presidential polls, now he is falling a free fall,Okonjo herself has just come to add more woes to Nigerias dwindling fortunes through her pro IMF/WORLD bank policies, its a pity that we dont have trust in our howe grown professionals, dont we have dons who can manage finance, why pay a fat lipped woman in dollars to add more salt to injury?Teejan, God bless you. |
I guess you are right; the West is forcing all these Bretton Wood puppets on Africa to do their bidding. Name them: Mustapha Abdul Jalil - Libya NTC leader (harvard economist) Allasane Ouattara - Ivory Coast former IMF Deputy Director Okonjo Iweala - World Bank Nigeria. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf - Liberia (Harvard Economist) Their theories have never helped Africa, the most successful country in Africa, Ghadafis Libya never took a loan nor adopted IMF/World BAnk austerity measures. South Africa and the BRICS have abandoned IMF/World BAnk. All that Iweala has to offer is advice GEJ to remove fuel subsidy and devalue the Naira. Let her go back to World Bank and mange Europes collapsing economies, that woman may run down GEJ if he doesnt listen to the Nigerian people FACT!!! |

Tell us what and how ur highly corrupt PDP governors are seriously developing your states. olofos!!! |
sincerely, i dont understand a lot of u guys here, increase in tariff again is nothing but a bigger fraud! Till date , am on estimated bill and those fools called PHCN just charge me anyhow. Just 3 of us in my apartment, my bill use to be around 2-3k a month. now they charge me 5k after the increment. Now we talking of another rise in tariff. and to make matter worse, they serve my area with 2 days on and one day off, NONSENSE!!! |
@ Enyojo, Seriously i don't understand you at all!!! All this your Genesis - Revolution quotes. Are you saying intake of alcohol is a sin or what? You've not really said anything to convince me that taking alcohol is a sin. Your hatred for something does not mean everyone should hate it, just like some posters has said earlier, too much of anything is not good for the body. ![]() |

The forensic audit of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) ordered by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has revealed that the former Director-General of the NSE, Mrs. Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke, purchased two bullet-proof Cadillac Escalade cars (2007 model) for N134 million in 2007. However, according to the interim report obtained by THISDAY, the records of the NSE only showed the invoice and voucher used for the payment of the cars. The NSE’s voucher dated August 8, 2007 showed payment for the vehicles with invoice number 340 dated August 28, 2007 from Quantum Classic Limited. “The cars were said to have been bought at the cost of N67 million each. The only records to this effect are the invoice sent in by Quantum Classic Limited and the voucher used by the Exchange to raise the money and made payment. After this, there are no other records of the cars either in form of assets or otherwise,” the report said. The report, which was commissioned by SEC last August following allegation of financial impropriety against the former management, also showed that the Exchange expended N1.5 billion on market development, publicity and public enlightenment in 2008. “The money was said to have been approved by the Council of the NSE during its retreat in South Africa in June 2008. A breakdown of the money showed that N750 million was expended on market development, N500 million on public enlightenment and N250 million on publicity,” the report said. THISDAY had last Wednesday broken the news of how the forensic audit unearthed huge expenditure by the former management with specific reference to N1.3 billion spent on renovation of the NSE Building in Lagos. The N1.3 billion was paid to Centric Industries Limited and Avronsyn for the renovation of the building including installation of new elevators. Specifically, N1.112 billion was paid in 2008, N141 million in 2009 and N10 million in 2010.Meanwhile, apparently disturbed by the outcome of the forensic report, Okereke-Onyiuke is said to be making frantic efforts to stop further exposure of the full report for public consumption. THISDAY learnt that the former NSE boss is lobbying the presidency, through the office of the First Lady, Mrs. Dame Patience Jonathan, to achieve this objective. “There are very strong indications that Okereke-Onyiuke has ran to the First Lady for assistance. She has reportedly told Mrs. Jonathan that her travails stemmed from the fact she is a woman and that people are envious of her achievements at the NSE. Bringing in issue of gender sentiments will not help her because do not forget that the DG of SEC is a fellow woman. What is important to her is cleansing the stable and correcting the evils that have been perpetrated in the past, which contributed to the collapse of the stock market that led to losses by many investors in the nation stock market,” a senior stockbroker said. According to the broker, what the Presidency should do is to ascertain if the financial mismanagement was really carried out and allow the regulators do their job in line with the Federal Government’s insistence on due process and accountability. “Stopping the report will not only send wrong signals to the investors. We have seen what happened in the banking sector. The capital market especially the NSE, which provides the platform for people to stake their hard earned money should be sanitised for the benefit of entire economy,” the broker said. |
NIGERIAN TRIBUNE Senate to debate ex-gov's marriage to minor Written by Jackson Udom Sunday, April 18, 2010 THERE are strong indications that the Senate will on resumption from the Easter break debate the recent marriage of Senator Sanni Yerima to a 13-year-old girl from Egypt. Speaking with Sunday Tribune on condition of anonymity, a source at the Senate disclosed that "the upper legislative body will soon deliberate on the marriage recently contracted between Yerima, a former governor of Zamfara State and serving Senator to an underage girl from Egypt. "The development is very very wrong and lacks any sign of morality. It is a clear case of child abuse which we have been fighting against. It is illegal and should be condemned by well meaning and right thinking Nigerians," the highly influential Senator declared. The lawmaker noted that "the law of the land frowns at this kind of marriage which is a clear case of child abuse. It is embarrassing to the Senate and indeed the National Assembly and that is why the issue would be tabled before the Senate and decision will be taken." Condemning the marriage, the federal lawmaker stated that, "the development becomes more embarrassing considering the calibre of the Senator involved, who should know better as a former state chief executive and a serving lawmaker." Former governor of Zamfara State and a serving Senator, Alhaji Sani Yerima, few weeks ago got married to a 13-year-old girl from Egypt. Sunday Tribune reliably gathered that the marriage ceremony between the senator and the minor was not allowed to take place in Egypt because of an existing law which bars minors from getting married, hence, the ceremony was shifted to Nigeria. In 2003, the National Assembly passed a law on child rights which supercedes the provisions under the Sharia legal code. The law clearly forbids marrying girls under the age of 18. |
I watched the interview twice on CNN and frankly, the problem of J Goodluck is not his accent. That i will not fault him on, but the problem was his command of English. After the interview, the next thing i told my friend was that this guy needs to improve on his use on English and builds his confidence more when it comes to granting interviews, For heaven's sake this is the number citizen of a country with a population of over 150million ![]() |

God!!! i cant believe all i've been reading here. To start with, i was born into celestial church and praise be to God, 32 yrs after, my faith is waxing stronger. be as it may, you lot can say anything you want to about the church, infact you can see everything wrong about the it, but praise to his Holy name (JESUS CHRIST) his good work in the church is still manifesting. For those of you that have experienced one bad or evil thing about the church in the past, sorry mates, even if u go to the best and holiest congregation in the world, remember one thing, this world is full of ups and downs. Man cannot live a world of perfection. No matter how rosy things maybe for u, you will surely experience some bad times (in-respect of the church u attends) even our Lord Jesus had a big share of his own. I believe the most important thing is your faith in your lord. i don't go to church to worship any pastor, Shepherd, prophet etc. i go to church to worship my Lord. with the help of God, and his words (BIBLE) and teaching i hold close to my heart. Mind you all, this Christianity was brought to us by the white men and coming here to say one church is better than the other is amusing. only God knows those who truly worships him. Lets not be quick to judge or criticize. If my mode of worship is different from yours, that does not justify mine or yours being the right or wrong one. I've been to some other churches myself before either by friend's invitation or revival, RCCG, WINNERS, KICC, HOUSE ON THE ROCK, CATHOLICS, ANGLICAN as in Church of England, both in Nigeria and UK here. Sincerely i do enjoy them. their preaching, praise worship, revival etc. But praise be to God! all and all, the grace and beauty of being a Celestial is MAGNIFICENT MANY ARE CALLED BUT FEW ARE CHOSEN |

hardly will you see a niger babe telling a guy he loves him. Basically its not an African thing. Sincerely, i don't see anything wrong in telling a guy how much u really admire him or wish to date him. As a lady, if u love a guy and because of pride, tradition or whatever u refuse to pass across ur desire, you'll be the one loosing out. FACT ![]() |
basically its governements fault. Remember during the soyinkas era, education was made easy, limited number of students per class and lecturers can keep total control of them. not now that u have 100 in a class while some are sitting on the windows, others are standing outside. And mind u, when last did u hear of a proper research been done at our universities now. Sincerely, dont blame the lecturers or students. the whole blame is on the government for killing our education in nigeria. fact ![]() |
