Family / Re: My Fellow Married Women And Mothers, How Do You Deal With A Husband Like Mine? by omololla(f): 1:37pm On May 12, 2020
Wetin I go talk go pain you o. But na the truth I go tell you. Madam, right now I can't tell you to start with 50% so I will say 20%.

Thank God there is covid and I pray your job doesn't get affected. As soon as you resume, the second day you get to work tell him there has been a 40% reduction from your salary due to low inflow of cash. You need to save at least 20% of your salary. This money no Matter if the roof is falling down you're not to touch it. Na your back up money be that. The other 20% is for your upkeep. You and your kids should survive on the remaining 50% because you'd definitely pay tithe. It's because he knows you always have a back up plan that is why he is relaxed and allowing you foot all the bills.
No this kain thing make me say I no go marry "brother" when I dey small. Most of them are lazy and are dreamers. They expect manner to fall from heaven after their praying and fasting forgetting Paul had a handiwork that sustained him all through his life hence he didn't have to beg and depend on anyone. I no dey like this kind jist. He's not even appreciative of his supportive wife. I know women who use all their money to buy shoes, clothes and the latest asoebi, their husbands dare not say pim because they'd even take his own and join.

Seriously I love what u say. I think I have to start this also.
Thanks sis.

Alpha Maximus: .....Voila!!! Here's the solution:
Statistics for 1992: #200,000/100 guys and #2000/each guy(don't write 'guy' for your lecturer)
Statististics for 1993: 8% pop increase and 25% taxation increase resulting in: #250,000/108 guys and #2,314.8148/each guy
(A)Objective: To find the percentage increase in taxation per guy
Change in taxation=new taxation per guy - old taxation per guy = 2,314.8148-2000= 314.8148
Percentage increase in taxation=change in taxation divided by old taxation then multiplied by 100
Thus,
(314.8148/2000)*100=15.74071%=15.7% to 3 significant figures
(B) Objective: To obtain new taxation revenue in 1993, given a 2%(stingy) discount by government
First obtain taxation per 100 guyz in 1993
Taxation per 100 guyz in 1993=(250,000/108)*100=231,481.48 per 100 guyz
Now including 2% discount
(2/100)*231,481.48=4,629.6296
New taxation revenue per 100 guyz in 1993=231,481.48- 4,629.6296=226,851.5=#226,852 to the nearest naira........hope that helped
Thanks so much, I really appreciate. God be with u

Education / Re: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by omololla(f): 5:23pm On Oct 13, 2013
Alpha Maximus: .....Besides , your approach is still extremely wrong.....if 1,104 is the discounted prices, this is how to find the original marked price:
Let the original marked price be X
Since we obtain a discount by deducting the percentage of the original, we have an equation as follows:
X-8%X=1,104
1X-0.08X = 1,104
0.92X=1,104
X=1,104/0.92
X=1,200
Wow, would you look at that! The original marked price of Titi's goods is the exact same value which I think 1,200 is meant to be!! Coincidence? I think not!!
that is why I posted it here for you to solve for me because am not a lover of math at all. please solve it for me and the rest questions too. lol

Thanks

incase that is giving you headache can you please solve this instead.....

In 1992, the amount of taxes collected in a country amounted to #200,000 per 100 person in 1993, the population increased by 8% and the revenue from taxation by 25%.
a: calculate, to 3 significant figures, the percentage increase taxation per person
b: if in 1993 the government decided to reduce taxation per person by 2%, calculate correct to the nearest naira the revenue from taxation per 100 person.
thanks
Education / Re: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by omololla(f): 4:23pm On Oct 13, 2013
Alpha Maximus: No probs....but I doubt its 1,120...are you sure its not 1,200 cause my calculations are not in sync with your information...when 8% of 1,200 is deducted from 1,200 it gives the value of 1,104 which you have given and this would be appropriate but am afraid the deduction of 8% of 1,120 from 1,120 is not equal to 1,104....double - check your typing please
I think it should be 8% of 1,104 which is 88.32 and you add it to 1,104 that will be 1,192.32 so therefore you subtract 1,192.32 from 88.32 which will give you 1,104. just saying ooo, wanna be sure that's why I posted it here for you please. because this is the way I solved it. besides that's what the lecturer wrote
Education / Re: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by omololla(f): 3:44pm On Oct 13, 2013
Alpha Maximus: for question 2:
Let the amount of money be 'X'.....3 of his sons receive 1/10 of 'X' each and 1/10 =0.1 since its three sons, we have 0.1*3*'X'=0.3X.......again, his two daughters are entitled to 1/8 of 'X' each and 1/8 =0.125, since its 2 daughters, we have:0.125*2*'X'=0.25x.....it is also known that a #5000 hospital bill was paid and his widow received #49,000...the sum of these amounts is 54000.....now the linear equation is: 0.3X + 0.25X + 54000 = X
0.55X + 54000 =X
1X-0.55X =54000
0.45X=54000
Therefore, X =54000/0.45 = #120,000...
As for no. 1 , I'm not sure if you mean 112o instead of 1,120 and 56o(fifty-six o) instead of 560(five hundred and sixty).....please clarify no. 1....I hope the no. 2 solution helped
Thanks. no1 is one thousand, one hundred and twenty naira and the other is five hundred and sixty naira

can you please solve this for me.

!: sola sells her books to customers at the price marked in her shop. titi allows her own customer 8% reduction from the marked price which means that she sells for 1104 naira the same books sola sells for 112o. determine titi marked price for the books that sola sells 56o naira.
a; what is titi selling price to her customers of this goods in (1) above.
b: find sola selling price for goods titi sells 736 naira.

2: a man left his fortune to be divided so that each of his3 sons receive 1/10,each of his 2 daughter receive 1/8.
#5000 was to be paid to her hospital and the rest to his widow. if the widow received #49000, how much did he leave behind.
