@ Op, in every thing you do, NEVER listen to those asking you to pm them. Most of them are scammers in disguise looking for a way to take their share of your money. Just go through the travel section and DIY. Those who have useful advice to give would rarely ask you to pm them rather they would drop it on the thread for everyone to benefit. Don't fall a victim. |

You are free to die there with your entire family members. Come on! The guy was just joking. Don't tell me you haven't seen that joke before. Don't take it personal. |

Education › Re: ASUU Strike: We May Not Honour Fg's Call Again - ASUU by Omonoba1: 9:14am On Dec 24, 2018 |
olujastro: Exactly. ASUU has become a very useless body and a thorn in the flesh of Nigerians, wasting precious time of Nigerian students.
Imagine ASUU demanding N3trillion funding in 2009 for Universities alone (excluding primary and secondary schools, polytechnics, etc.), when the federal budget for the same year was N3trillion. Then another N1.3trillion agreement in 2013. So govt should abandon all sectors and salaries of workers to improve universities only. They embark on long, needless strike actions and govt is coerced into making agreements just to end the strike, then they later accuse govt of not fulfilling near impossible agreements.
ASUU or whatever you call yourselves...Can Nigerian universities develop faster than the country? Should we abandon roads, rails, electricity, etc. for university funding alone so that ASUU members can die on bad roads? I don't think you know what you're saying. The only reason we see little development in our universities today is because of these their agitations. I agree that they also have their personal interest at heart, but you can not totally call what they are agitating for useless. Mind you, the FG always needs a push before they can do anything. If ASUU stays dormant without acting, then the decay in our universities would be beyond measures. |

Naijaforeigner: It is actually surprising cos the population of Nigerians in USA is probably double that of the UK. One would expect Nigerians in USA to top that list. From my understanding of the article, it doesn't mean Nigerians in the UK send more money to Nigeria than those in the USA. They only compared Nigerians in the UK with other nationalities.. I may be wrong though. |

sunky644: @Atutupoyoyo, you have really inspired quite a number of us. I stayed awake reading from Page 1-9 and I must say your mum's story sealed the encouragement. I am a lecturer with PhD in view in Naija (Biochemistry field with about 10 publications in well indexed international journals) and my wife is a Masters degree holder (Food Science) also in naija. The dream of becoming a Professor and fear of not getting academic position if we relocate to Canada is withholding me from taking step. If I blaze the trial to take step in 2019 and we move after my PhD, what degree will I have to go for in Canada to be relevant? What's the possibility of landing an Academic position? Is their conversion program for Food Scientists to Dietitian in Canada, if yes, what's the program duration? My brother, if you could leave a #400k monthly job in Naija to put life in right track and start as a Security in Canada (I am aware there is dignity of labour), then why should I stay glued to just #130k per month job in Naija even when my wife couldn't get a job here despite her Masters. Guys, help me dissect my case and short bio and let me hear your opinions...pls.... I thought I was the only one who stayed awake to read the thread @Op Kudos to you. Your determination is a great motivation to us. |
