I have asked myself so many times too. Simple answer is,most Nigerian men and African men in general are naturally brought up to think they are mini gods that should be worshipped and waited on handand foot. I sit in an office with about 5 white men and i have often gone into the ladies bathroom to weep at how unlucky i am to have married an african man who is sooo selfish, his needs always come first. I see these my colleagues buying flowers, sharing recipes to surprise their wives with, planning holidays etc.... |
I remember the day i regretted using whatsapp on my phone. Being the only black african in my office, i usually put up this miss prim and proper persona. Anyway, one day i was telling my white boss (a fine man by the way) about a musical i attended over the weekend and decided to show him the pictures on my phone. As he scrolled enjoying the nice photos, a picture sent to me by my white sidekick of his excited member..appeared on the screen. I nearly died on the spot of embarrassment. Needless to say,i noticed my boss has been a lot more relaxed around me. But all my forming ended that day sha... ![]() |
Sometimes, especially if ure in England as applied in my case, you may get in at the bottom ( assistant, trainee, temp) depending on ur area of interest. Im an AVP Compliance for one of the biggest AM firms and got in as a KYC temp and then assistant compliance officer. But then continued CPD courses ( the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment is a well recognised institution here).I read Economics and Financial Economics for my masters. Now starting a part_time PHD programme sponsored by my firm. -nternships like others have said are also very handy. |
I used to be a worker in RCCG until i attended the Church of England -Anglican service near my house and heard the vicar pray for the Madalla bomb victims and take a collect for them. They had a team visit japan with supplies during the disaster in 2010. Then the selfishness and greed of most naija churches hit me. I had never heard or seen any form of prayer or help for nigeria in my beloved RCCG parish in England |
Greater scholars is a goodschool. my daughter started reading fluently at 3 through the phonetic teaching methods of Miss Fatima in Greater scholars. The proprietress is Montesorri trained and lived in the US or Canada for years so she values education. My daughter who is now in the Gifted and Talented group in her school in the UK is oficially in year 2 but performs at Year 5 level and has been approached by some independent schools to enter in for their scholarship exams. From personal experience, they have very skilled teachers and spend so much on their training and development. Besides, if you live in AA estate, its also very convinient for distance. |

Quote. seyibrown I can't believe that! Did he think the other commuters were deaf or didn't know what 'RAZIST' meant? LOL! LOL. he was a typical stereotype of Nigerians in the UK that think every white man is racist. And he couldn't even express himself quietly. My husband practically screams when he talks and its caused lots of wahala in the house, my daughter has started speaking loudly too, sigh |
Funny, 2 years ago on the 161 bus in london, in Eltham to be precise, there were just 2 of us blacks upstairs. Th esecond person a yoruba man was speaking loudly on his phone saying "Egbon mi, RAZISTS ni won ni bi o, They are bloody RAZISTS!" (These people are all racits here in london). I nearly fainted, i had to leave for downstairs, it was terribly embarrasing! HE was so loud, no one could have missed what he was saying, |
ADVISE FROM THE JEWISH DOCTOR WHO CIRCUMCISED MY SON:SPRINKLE GINGER POWDER(GROUND GINGER) ON ALL YOUE MEALS BEFORE EATING(JUST A LITTLE), ONCE YOUR BABY GETS THIS FROM THE BREAST MILK, SHE/HE WILL PASS ALL THE GAS BY FARTING AND BELCHING AND THIS WILL REALLY RELIEVE HER/HIM. WORKS WONDERS.It's just the gas causing discomfort, mine sleeps 5 hrs straight now aat night and he's 6 weeks. |

The president of chile has been on hand to offer the first hug and welcome. What a country, sigh Even here in the UK, UK citizens are jealous of the mobilisation and support from the government. Not even during the 7/7 bomb blasts did the victims as much as get personal visits from the then PM. Honestly, the whole things been touching. If it happened in my beloved Nigeria, some would have said, thats the way God said they would go, besides, there wouldn't even be electricity to power the machinery and it would have turned chaotic. We thank God for his mercy, cos at the end of the day, they prayed and he answered. |

Good Girl! This would definately not make british headlines, they only know how to rubbish other nationals. Silly people. I read the dailymail.co.uk everyday and today thers an article on a Nigerian Sham marriage (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1306117/Sham-marriage-Bride-groom-handcuffed-alter-police-Essex.html)with all sort sof comments below from the silly british people on how all nigerians should be sent back home. I definately left my coment on how they came to Nigeria first destroyed and ar estill destroying the livelihoods of many in teh Niger delta but we never hear of it cos we ain't USA and then they trun around at every opportunity an dslag us off. Bloody hypocrites. All NIgerians doing well, keep up the good work ! |

platinumnk (f)Depends on what u what u want. And Im tired of people saying its "this" easy to make it in 9ja. Shut the hell up too many are starving to utter such rubbish. Im not saying its better, but to have bare nessities is better that everything You are so right. I am tired of always hearing that you can make it in Nigeria as if someone will just throw money at you. There are thousands in Nigeria with no jobs and they'll be glad to do anywork and at least have the basic amenities like light, water and health care. I came back to Nigeria to a so called high fly corporate job all with a brand new car an dlet me tell you, i regret it after several hrs in traffic, no time for kids, horrible corporate culture and almost hopeless political situation in NIgeria. I for one wouldn't mind going back to my comfortable credit control job with peace, basic amenities and family time. I never experienced racism. When you have valid papers and a positive attitude, the sky would just be a starting point. Kapish? |
