Taking your kids and wards to Boarding school does not mean abandonment or dereliction of duties by parents. Most times parents have little options while deciding the type of school for their kids. Here are some reasons for this decisions.

1. Most times, you are unable to get a good school close to your residence. Let's not deceive ourselves, Government has failed in providing secondary education at local levels. You hardly can see good school in many locality. And for some kids, they have to wake up as early as 5am to be prepared for school everyday. Some kids travel as much 10km daily to get to school. So parents are forced to take the boarding house option.

2. Most people pamper their kids at home and they are not usually well trained for the larger society. Sometimes we are over protective, So taking them to boarding facilities can make them independent.

3. Now both parents have to work to sustain families. One income can not do it again. So both parents have to work hard to provide the basics for the children. Living in this country is tough and Government has not in any way help to create a better society.

If the case of bullying is established then the school has failed woefully and they should be sanctioned severely.

Decisions to place kids is usually a tough one that most parent make and they are usually left with fewer options.

Before judging, wait until your kids gets to the age of getting into secondary school.

And the main questions is "How do we create a better society"?

Nice talk. However, there's a limit to which you can monitor humans. As long as people are corrupt and irresponsible they'll always find a way around any law or policy.

We need to build a society and mentality that puts common good before individual and personal benefits. Until we have this mentality, there's no way forward in this country.

Many people only complain of corruption when they're on the negative end. Put a typical Nigerian in a position to enjoy corrupt funds and watch him/her give a thousand and one reasons why his/her holy book doesn't count that as a bad deed.
