EducationRe: ASUU Strike: A Lecturer Speaks by onayemi1: 11:55am On Oct 15, 2013
Sir, can you please comment on this? One thing I have noticed in this thread is that your effort to educate everyone on this thread is yielding minimal results. ASUU has over years engage in activities that have diminish their significance to the society.
drered: @prof femi.
Came across this on facebook and I'll love to know your thoughts on this
EducationRe: ASUU Strike: A Lecturer Speaks by onayemi1: 10:03pm On Oct 11, 2013
Dear prof femi, I must really commend your efforts for all you have said in this forum. But I must point out that you have taken a position concerning this issue and no other person will convince you to shift grounds. But from all the comments and replies so far, it's pretty evident that most people here on nairaland didn't agree with your line of thoughts. Yes, tertiary education is expensive but ASUU should be reasonable with this strike and try to accept whatever government has given them. There are so many sectors of our economy that needs urgent attention just like education. Please, try and discuss with ASUU to return to class. This long stay at home will greatly batter the image of tertiary institution in nigeria. I must also say that oxford has done a great criticism of prof femi's position.
EducationRe: Osun's 'O-meal' Feeds 254,000 School Kids Daily by onayemi1: 5:47pm On Sep 18, 2013
This means 254000 X N250 = N63,500,000 daily. For 20 days a month we have N63.5m X 20 = N 1.27 billion. I am sure a governor cant use that huge sum for feeding. This is PR work at display. Let's be sincere in this country for a while

Buchiano(m):
Nyz one !!

Truth remains that this administration has shown more sincerity $ focus than past gvts.

Ride on GEJ!!!!

Sincere Nigerians ar solidly behind U.
This is the same road that the President and all the sycophants in his mushroom cabinet came some months ago to flag off the commencement of the repairs. This government should at least name one major roads that have been completed since its inception. None I guess. Like El Rufai said Jonathan administration only favours his clan.
EducationRe: Okonjo-iweala Is Insensitive To The Plight Of Students - Akpatason by onayemi1: 6:05pm On Sep 10, 2013
oxford: ASSU is just an as$ h0le.

Government have demostrated good faith in the negotiation by puting N130 billions on the table, why not return the good gestures back by showing some patrotism?

And please if you want senators salary, resign and contest. If you think you are better in formulating government policies, resign and join politics.

But the bottom line is even this: Nigerian lecturers are more corrupt than the politicians they are trying to paint black.

Who among them doesnt sell ''Copy and paste'' hand outs?

how many of them doesnt give out marks to female students for a night out?

how many of them even got the job on merit?

How many of them can defend their qualifications?

How many times to they report for their duties?

How many researches have they conducted?

What is the quality of their products?

Abeg, Leave mata for mathias.
This is the most sensible comments on ASUU strike
EducationRe: Students Dont Want ASUU Strike To End - ASUU President by onayemi1: 8:43pm On Sep 08, 2013
I must say that ASUU has shown a high level of greed in pressing home their demands. If every other unions should do like they have done, then the country will be in comatose by now. Surely, FGN is equally irresponsible. The two parties must come together and reach a compromise. A lot of our youths are just roaming streets and while away precious time. The future of the country are the victim of this imbroglio.
PoliticsRe: N600 Billion Census Budget Outrageous by onayemi1: 8:41pm On Sep 06, 2013
NPC Chairman, Mr Festus Odimegwu should at least fear God. The amount i must say is not only outrageous but also a disservice by Mr Festus to this country. To use such amount for census in the midst of abject poverty, dilapitated infrastructures, crippling economy, death trap roads and lack of social welfare is a total shame and disrespect for the progress of this nation. The said amount is much larger than the combined yearly budget for Lagos,Ogun and Oyo states. How did the chairman arrived at this baseless figure? Now if 600b naira is used for census, where will the country get money to provide necessary service for the people. As far as I am concerned and believe most Nigerians, census shouldn't be our priority for now.

It's taken a while, but Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola are starting to become a bit more animated on the touchline. You'd imagine the Bayern boss is the happier of the two at the moment.

SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Burkina Faso - AFCON 2013 Final (1 - 0) - On 10th February 2013 by onayemi1: 9:51pm On Feb 10, 2013
Feeling of victory is sweet. And its my desire if the country can replicate this success in infrastructure development, mass housing scheme, quality education, health care scheme and eradication of mad corruption. Though we are champion in football today but what about our democracy and governance. Nigeria has a very long way to go in making herself the real GIANT OF AFRICA
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Burkina Faso - AFCON 2013 Final (1 - 0) - On 10th February 2013 by onayemi1: 9:41pm On Feb 10, 2013
Lessons Learnt:
1. Merit in selecting players is key and not based on which part of the country one comes from.
2. Always trust in the capabilities of your citizens as in the case of Keshi instead of a foreign player

Lesson learnt:
1. Don't give up on people. Believe and invest in them.

2. Support your team regardless of their performance.

3. Teamwork is key in a game.

4. Don't be afraid to try something new.

5. Always have a game plan. Don't allow play to the gallery.

BusinessRe: The Removal Of Fuel Subsidy Is Good? by onayemi1: 6:47pm On Oct 16, 2011
Who ever that says removal of subsidy is good has a shallow mind. What does an average nigerian benefits from the govt? Nothing. No good roads, dilapitated infrastructures, grinding and unfathomable poverty and no social security system. unemployed youths and graduates are roaming the streets looking for non existing jobs. while this happen our leaders are enjoying and feeding fat on the collective resources. Govt shld first prune down its recurrent expenses and make the refineries work. We shld not be quick to compare naija to developed nations in fuel subsidy removal as they enjoy many things we take as luxury in nigeria for granted. My family and i say no to fuel subsidy removal.
PoliticsRe: President Jonathan's 133 Aides by onayemi1: 12:14pm On Feb 22, 2011
With all the inept Aides to the presidency, what do we have to show for it? NOTHING!!! History will not forgive GEJ for taking naija backward. He has nothing to showcase after being in govt for over 12yrs. He's a perfect example of BAD LEADERSHIP.
LiteratureRe: "coming To America" - Diary Of An Illegal Immigrant by onayemi1: 11:34am On Feb 21, 2011
The story is interesting. Cant wait for the rest of the story. But to be candid, this story looks real. Most often, women are always at the receiving end. This is why the law favours the women in America and developed countries

PropertiesRe: To Rent An Apartment In Lagos, Why The Wahala by onayemi1: 4:10pm On Jan 08, 2011
We must understand that govt (fed, state & lg) have failed in providing housing for the masses. Most houses are privately owned. so the Landlord dictates the price and the number of years to pay. Its so pathetic. You can imagine how long it will take for an average naija worker(80k per month salary) to save to rent a decent 2-bedroom flat of 300k per annum (720k for 2yrs plus agreement and commission). Its tough to be a nigerian
