Bliss4Lyfe: IGBO-SON and Ikengawo, there is no doubt dat Onitsha should be the commercial capital of Nigeria. Onitsha is situated at a strategic location surrounded by oil producing states Anambra, Abia, Imo, Delta, Rivers, Cross River(Bakassi), Akwa Ibom, Edo,Bayelsa, Ondo to say the least. A nice motorway or high speed train(not light rail but solid train as in railway) for easy access from Cross River(Bakassi) and all the aforementioned states tells me businesses will flourish in Onitsha City. Enough of this Abuja and Lagos thieving of oil money to build non economically viable cities. Time to build a viable commercial city for the people of that region who at present have none.

Soludo plan is superb but the areas highlighted in my post are crucial. Anambra needs to encourage investment in Asaba, so rather than building an international airport, it did be wiser to request expansion of the Asaba International airport. Also rather than waiting for the federal gov to build the third niger bridge, a joint venture between Anambra and Delta would realise this ambition for a third Niger Bridge to facilitate access and reduce traffic, from onitsha to Asaba International Airport. The third Niger Bridge should carry rail tracks and steel framed in design.

On how to finance this project without putting the state in debt, Soludo should know as i don't want to give away a top secret of how on nairaland.

I support completely. I might get attacked for this but I'll still say it. For ontisha to be great, you people need Asaba. We have the knowledge, access, income and lands. The knowledge and income part is self explantory but the lands concept might be a bit trickery to understand. Yes Onitsha have more land than Asaba and the entire Anambra state is more vast than Asaba. That part is public knowledge. Onitsha on the other hand is already filling up as we speak. The population of that said city continue to expand each year. With how congested onitsha is, the town might end up losing it's more wealthy investors. Onitsha need Asaba lands to not only reduce the increasing population of that town, cater the traders of both igbos and foreigners already in the city but also able to cater more foreign companies that might want to expand their market to onitsha. Likewise you need us to get delta state government involvement in trying to build the 3rd Niger bridge. We can help in improving the Onitsha seaport. Alot of our people are traders, just like onitsha. Our knowledge of trading might not be as strong as una but we do bring in a significant amount of income. Personally I believe there should be a cargo line from Warri to Onitsha and with Asaba location, it can be acheievable if anambra works with asaba leaders as well as delta leaders. Our international airport would also benefit onitsha. That part is equally self explantory so no need explaining it.
I believe Asaba can benefit Onitsha greatly likewise ditto for us but hey, I'm not a politician so my wish might never become a reality.

Actually reading this thread brought joy to my heart. I didn't care much about the wannabe Igbos but I adored how the Anambra people supports the right man for the job. I have no problem with ngige, the man has done some good works. I still see him as a traitor but anyone that deny ngige hadn't made an impact is lying to himself. Compared to Soludo, Ngige lacks vision. Not to include that Ngige openly supported the nazi act of his party which now puts the question on the people's mind whether or not the man cares about the people or just his party. Anyway, I've always supported Soludo even before the deportation saga. Soludo to me is like the SE of Utomi. Whatever promise he makes, he tries his darnest to achieve it.
