Politics / Corruption Or Natural Disaster: Which Is More Destructive To A Nation? by Onjefu(m): 3:11pm On Jan 04, 2006
Nigeria our beloved country has not really had any major natural disasters such as the Ausrilian fires, huricanes, colossal coastal floads , volcanic eruptions etc , but when I look at what corruption has done to Nigeria in particular and try comparing I wonder which of the two forms of disasters is more destructive to a nation and it's people.

In your opinion which is more destructive to a nation - NATURAL DISASTERS OR CORRUPTION?

The answer honestly eludes me.
Literature / Re: Which Books/Novels Are You Currently Reading? by Onjefu(m): 6:18pm On Dec 20, 2005
Hi Trae_z,
I got this from you:

I guess I'm a walking encyclopedia on relationships and self-help issues , and don't you forget it.

It is striking for me to know that someone has same interest as me. I wouldn't say I'm an encyclopedia, but a passionate student of Relationship & Personal Development. Do we sound alike to you? I like to read books along this line alot. Generally anything on relationships, be it romance or books on how-to, e.g Fine Art of Friendship, Bonds of Iron etc and Personal Development e.g The Real Man by Edwin L Cole, The Purpose and Power of a Man, The Purpose and power of Women both by Myles Munroe, I also consider what most persons regard as motivationals as personal development books. My favorites here include AS A Man Thinketh - James Alen, Acres Of Diamond, Message from a Master. I can send soft copy of any of the last three if you are interested, they are free. How about that?

Guy you really are cool! I mean this thing about you and me - I love cyber stuff as well, as a matter of fact I learning standard HTML and looking for a Frontpage tutorial. I'm right now on your site and you did great job here!I will write you a mail so that you can get my e-mail addresss.
Politics / Re: Chris Okotie (Fresh Party) For President In 2007? by Onjefu(m): 6:25pm On Dec 16, 2005
It borders me, not because this fellow Nigerian called Christ Okotie is this badly portrayed and criticized, but on the two main grounds which this is done!

Firstly, that he is pastor. Pastor or not this man is a Nigerian like any of us and as such has the fundamental right to aspire to be the president of the country whether he “claims” God told him or not. It is only sentimental to condemn him on this ground.

Secondly, that he rides a Hummer Jeep. Note that the first person, Joftech, who first cited this in this forum, says, and I quote

i heard the man of God now cruise the town in an Hummer jeep how many
member(s) of his church have one. It's not that i have any beef against that, but i can only imagine if i would have believe in Jesus Christ today if he has been going about in sleek chariots while His disciples go about on their legs

So it is but only hearsay after all! And this ground more than any most persons have kicked against Chris Okotie. Can anyone in this forum be patriotic, kind enough to honestly, sincerely, reliably help us verify this?

I strongly feel there is another objective way to look at the participation of the likes of Chris Okotie in the Nigerian politics. There are far too many of us, young credible Nigerians, who can provide the much needed intelligent, sincere, sacrificial and visionary leadership right today, but never dare to step out for fear of one form or the other. In my opinion Chris Okotie is among the credible few taking this challenge up. We can make it from this dark to light but it will be only when the credible good Nigerians step out like Pastor Chris. His coming out is a positive development for Nigerian politics

Yes, he may not win the 2007 presidency election but to say he cannot is not an insult Nigeria and Nigerians but telling us that we as a people and nation are foolish and dumb people who do not have the capacity to learn from past costly mistakes of either ignoring or selling out our future cheaply to illiterate politicians who have put us in this mess today. We can learn and very quickly enough and vote a credible Nigerian as president come 2007.

Fellow forumites, please let us avoid undermining the capacity of Nigerians for doing things rightly. A post such as below does just that-

Becoming the president of any nation requires greasing alot of palms, the moment you can do that you have heard your result, is Pastor Chris ready to do the normal greasing.

Palm greasing “normal” to Nigerians. Majority does not agree with you I can be sure of that [I will consider you right and I wrong if those in this forum disagree with me in response to this – let’s see]. Except by "palm greasing" you don't mean bribing.

Let me end with Goodguy’s word , talking about him [Chris Okotie] buying a hummer jeep, he has the money, so there's absolutely nothing wrong in that. He buys what he wants so I don't think there's any crime in that… To those saying he could have used the money to help the poor, do u know how many poor people he has actually helped that u don't even know of?

Anyway, I wish Okotie the best in his pursuit. I hope he becomes president in 2007, though his chances are very slim.

Ioday, I appreciate your sincerity in that response.

Kaylala, thank you too.

Bagoma, thanks for that.I like your understanding of the soap.I wouldn't mind your response to the question I posted yesterday. If you were either of Diego or Paloma what would you do as it regards both of you given the prevailing circumstances?.

"If you were either of Diego or Paloma what would you do as it regards both of you given the prevailing circumstances?."

I'm just being curious!

Jalal, thanks for those your summaries. Can you get us more? I was at www.cuandoseasmia.cjb.net and also visited Silvia  Nivarro (Paloma) at www.silvianivarro.com but both took me to geocite for summaries but that site is never available.I like Silvia's site but it's content is not in English!! Have you been there? Jalal I wouldn't mind your response to my question as well.

Cheers folks. smiley

Ioday,
I saw that myself yesterday and felt like you do, I mean the non expression of any kind when Paloma seemed to have seen Diego.Well, I resolved it was probably a little blunder on director's/producer's part, or are we to take it that Paloma did not see him? That obviously does not agree with the shot of the scene.

Paloma and Diego will likely meet today I guess.I see Diego going back to the city with greater feeling for Paloma whether they meet or not.

Let's see what happens today.

Hi buddies,
There is a lesson I want to point out from this soap piece - in my opinion Ines Sanchez Serrano - as an elderly fails the family in providing examplary leadership expected of such in two ways:

(i) - treating the poor as lesser humans - this is seen in the way she refers to Paloma each time she talks about her since it got to her that she is the "bean collector" Diego her grandson loves.Compare that to how she accepts Miquel just because he poses as one from another wealthy family close to the Serranos. As I have seen from the summaries, even when the ills of Miguel and Bernice become known to her she still would not be in support of Diego's marriage with Paloma - why? - she was a "Bean Collector".

(ii) - she entertains racial discremination - Daniella's boy friend is treated in simamilar way she treats Paloma - lesser human - infact she referred to her as monkey if I recal properly. Such an elderlt person should have a better understanding of life enough to know that humanity is deeper than skin colour.And...you can be sure I like the guy:he just goes on enjoying his life (a true African spirit!!!).Check him up - he is resourceful, talented and handsome. Can Miguel compare with him in anyway? - no!Yet he gains acceptance of "grandma".

In the end it is all but an entertainment.Be entertained but also learn some lessons buddies.

Can someone else bring out any lesson learnt so far and as we going watching?I will appreciate that a great deal.
Cheers,
I'm Jeff.
