According to https://www.nairaland.com/3635437/how-cars-mileage-odometer-rolled-back , it is certain that the mileage of cars are being rolled down.

Attached to this post is the image of an emulator the seller plugged to the instrument cluster of a Benz GLE 450 Coupe 2016 I bought in early October 2023, to reduce its mileage from over 120k miles to over 33k miles. When I started driving the car, it started giving errors such as service gear, power steering malfunctions, and many other ones.

If not for my experience in carrying out VIN checks and other necessary things, I would have tampered with its gear, power steering, etc. which would have made me grounded the car. But luckily for me, I discovered the emulator plugged into the car's instrument cluster; all the errors cleared after I removed the emulator and I was able to drive the car from Abuja to Lagos without any of such errors coming up till today.

What do you think about the rolling down of mileage? Can it be termed fraud or not in the automobile business?

Do you have any experience to share as regards it?
What do you think are the reasons sellers roll down the mileage of their cars?

How To Get Central Motor Registry Information System (CMRIS) For Your Vehicle In Nigeria

In Nigeria, it is compulsory to process CMR for every vehicle registered. CMR stands for Central Motor Registry which was kind of manually handled by the Nigeria Police Force.

But at a point, the processing of CMR was temporarily suspended for reviews after which it was later resumed and announced as Central Motor Registry Information System (CMRIS). It is now compulsory for every vehicle in Nigeria to have CMRIS which can be easily gotten online through an online portal created by the Nigeria Police Force.

Golf 3 is by far better than golf 4 in terms of reliability.

In conclusion.

1. Gear boxes vary from manufacturers..

2. Manual gear boxes are easier to maintain and possibly rebuild by an average mechanic in nigeria.

3. Auto gear boxes are very easy to drive but once you have a crash that has affected the gear, don't fix just replace.

Tip; make sure you come to a hault before to switch from R to D.. but you "can" jazz (clutching) your Manual gear especially when drifting

For your information, the cost of clearing Peugeot 206 from customs is currently N1,600,000.
