I need some advice my people. This four flat house is selling for 20 mill in bashorun Ibadan.

Rent is 350k, is this a good idea?

As people have rightly stated that you will recover your money in 15 years’ time but let us view this from another investment angle. What if you invest in FGN bond (especially the New Issue not the Re: Opening coupon because you will pay more for those ones). For example you put down your 20 million for 15 years for 12% coupon rate.

20 million for 12% coupon rate = 2.4 million / year x 15 = 36 million.

You’ve more than double your money at the end = 36 million + your original 20 million = 56 million

Sports / Kamaru Usman Tops Colby Covington In Slugfest With 5th-round TKO by Onlytru: 8:27am On Dec 15, 2019
LAS VEGAS -- Colby Covington dominated the war of words. Kamaru Usman got the victory where it counted most.

Usman finished the trash-talking Covington via TKO at 4:10 of the fifth round in the main event of UFC 245 on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena. With the win, Usman retained his UFC welterweight title and quieted Covington's barbs, at least temporarily.

"I heard all week, all month, since the fight got signed, everyone is like, 'Oh, Colby is in his head, Colby is this, Colby is that. He's gonna gas out, fight emotional.' I'm telling you guys right now that the reason why I'm the best in the world is because my mind is stronger than anyone in the division."

It was the second-latest stoppage ever in a title fight in UFC history and came in a very close fight up until that point. Covington did very well in the early rounds, while Usman rallied in the third and fourth. After the third round, Covington told his corner that he believed he had a broken jaw.

The end came in the fifth when Usman dropped Covington with a right hand. Covington got to his feet, but Usman dropped him with another right. Usman closed in and flurried on the ground with hammer fists, with Covington attempting a takedown. Referee Marc Goddard stepped in to call it a TKO, a call Covington protested immediately afterward.

The scorecards afterward were differing. Heading into the fifth, one judge had it for Covington 39-37, another had it 39-37 for Usman, and the third had it tied 38-38. The scores don't matter now, though, with Usman earning the finish.

Usman said afterward that his victory isn't just for him, but for everyone, mentioning the country of Brazil, which Covington has run down as a "dump" and called its residents "filthy animals."

"This one is for the whole entire world right now," Usman said.

Usman was ESPN's No. 10-ranked pound-for-pound MMA fighter coming in and the No. 1 welterweight. Covington was the No. 2 welterweight. Usman won the UFC welterweight title by beating Tyron Woodley by unanimous decision at UFC 235 on March 2.

Usman and Covington had bad blood coming in. Covington crashed Usman's open workout before UFC 235 and the two exchanged words at the conclusion of that card. At the UFC 235 post-fight news conference, Usman professed his hatred for Covington, and the two -- along with Usman's manager Ali Abdelaziz -- got into a confrontation at the Palms Resort Casino buffet in Las Vegas the next day.

The feud continued in interviews and on social media, with Covington referring to Usman as "Marty Fakenewsman." Usman was called "Marty" during his amateur wrestling career, because coaches couldn't pronounce his first name "Kamarudeen."

Covington has embraced his role as the UFC's biggest villain, which has almost been too effective. While the attention from his sometimes crude trash talk has earned him greater opportunities inside and outside the Octagon, Covington has also alienated many in the sport, including several of his own American Top Team teammates like fellow UFC star Jorge Masvidal.

Usman (16-1) has won 14 in a row, including 11 straight in the UFC. Covington (15-2) had a seven-fight winning streak snapped.

Sports / Anthony Joshua Wants To Defend Heavyweight Titles In Nigeria by Onlytru: 8:46pm On Dec 09, 2019
Anthony Joshua ‘definitely’ wants to defend heavyweight titles in Nigeria after defeating Andy Ruiz

Anthony Joshua has confirmed he would “definitely love” to defend his heavyweight titles in Nigeria after defeating Andy Ruiz in their rematch.

The IBF, WBO and WBA champion recovered from a devastating upset in his first fight against the Mexican-American to reclaim the belts via a wide unanimous decision in Saudi Arabia.

Joshua, who is of Nigerian heritage, visited the country between the two fights and is keen to bring the first world heavyweight title fight to the continent since the ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ in 1974.

Promoter Eddie Hearn, has received numerous offers to stage Joshua’s next fight. However, with the Briton likely to be forced to face his mandatory challenger with the IBF, Kubrat Pulev, a London homecoming fight remains a more immediate probability.

“People had been telling me I should go back for ages. It was crazy because they don’t have 24-hour electricity but they still know me and support me,” Joshua said.

“I went to the ghettos of the ghettos where it’s not all about egos and beef, it’s about people who are hungry to survive.

“It was one of the best things I’ve done. Africa’s rooting for me for sure, so I would definitely love to fight out there.”

Joshua’s parents are both of Nigerian descent and he actually attempted to represent the country at the 2008 Olympics.

But in the meantime, he insisted he’s not taking his eyes off the present after the lessons learned in his first fight against Ruiz.

“Five months from now, the belts go in the air and I have to defend them again,” Joshua said.

“I am only the champion for months again, so I can’t get too caught up in the moment and have to stay focused on the task at hand, which is not staying undefeated any more, but staying champion for as long as possible.”

Sports / Allow Me To Introduce To Yall – Massai Ujiri by Onlytru: 5:15am On May 26, 2019
When Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri acquired Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green from the San Antonio Spurs last summer, many couldn’t believe that he pulled off a nearly unfathomable move.

Now, Ujiri’s biggest heist is paying dividends immediately and he couldn’t be happier.

Leonard led the Raptors to their first Finals appearance in history, posting 27 points, 17 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and two blocks during the 100-94 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday.

“He’s been unbelievable. He’s the best player in the league,” Ujiri exclaimed during the trophy presentation.

Ujiri and the Raptors have larger goals than winning the East, clearly, with the two-time defending champion Golden State Warriors standing in the way.

“We’re not satisfied because we want to win a championship. We want to win in Toronto. We will win in Toronto,” Ujiri added.

Leonard may have cemented his case as the NBA’s marquee player after taking down a Bucks team that led the league in wins and point differential during the regular season, led by MVP favourite Giannis Antetokounmpo. It may remain up for debate, but no one is going to question Ujiri in Toronto.

Sports / The Best Player In The NBA Is “nigerian” But Most Nigerians Have No Idea by Onlytru: 11:59pm On May 07, 2019
Nigerian sports fans love nothing more than bragging rights. It’s why, beyond celebrating their national teams and athletes, they are also typically quick to “claim” (or “famz,” in local parlance) any sports star with even a hint of Nigerian heritage.

It’s why Anthony Joshua, the world heavyweight boxing champion, is a huge star in Nigeria with a major “Naija” brand TV campaign for a local mobile operator even though he competes for Britain. It’s not restricted to mainstream sports either: last week, when Kamaru Usman, a Nigerian-American notched a historic Ultimate Fighting Championship win, it was a trending topic in Nigerian social media circles.

But so far, there has been no similar levels of “Naija” affinity for basketball star Giannis Antetokounmpo, one of this year’s leading favorites for the NBA’s coveted Most Valuable Player award. Antetokounmpo, born in Greece to Nigerian immigrants, has been the driving force of a Milwaukee Bucks team that holds the league’s best record and has confounded critics. As part of a steady streak since first joining the Bucks in 2013, Antetokounmpo has set several records, boosting the franchise’s hopes of a first NBA championship since 1971.

However, while he’s a household name in American sports, it’s not exactly the same in Nigeria and one obvious reason is Antetokounmpo’s name. “Most people here can’t relate very easily firstly because of the way his name is spelled,” says Femi Adefeso, a Nigerian-based NBA reporter who covered the 2017 and 2018 All-Star weekends.

After gaining Greek citizenship in 2013, a romanization of his surname “Adetokunbo” saw him become “Antetokounmpo”, stripping away the obvious link to his heritage. “Compare that with Victor Oladipo (another major NBA star), it speaks out loud. You know he is Nigerian right away,” Adefeso says.

For his part, “the Greek Freak,” as he’s also called, has talked up his Nigerian heritage and even obtained a Nigerian passport back in 2015. And after first visiting Africa in 2015 during the first NBA Africa Game in Johannesburg in 2015, Antetokounmpo says he plans to visit Nigeria within the next two years.

Antetokounmpo, already on his way to becoming a full Greek international even before becoming an NBA star, also has no chance of playing for Nigeria. That’s not to say Nigerians only root for stars who compete under their flag. Indeed, the legendary Hakeem Olajuwon, Nigeria’s greatest basketball icon, turned out to win a gold medal with the United States’ third “Dream Team” at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

But the Houston Rockets legend and two-time NBA champion was already a strong draw for local sports fans and media having moved from Nigeria to play college basketball in the United States and eventually ending up as a top NBA draft pick. Olajuwon’s success spurred much mainstream local interest in the NBA in a traditionally soccer-mad country.

Since then, the success and growth of Nigerian-American NBA players like Andre Iguodala (Golden State Warriors), Victor Oladipo (Indiana Pacers) and Emeka Okafor (New Orleans Pelicans) has seen the sport become even more popular locally.

Still, with his global stock skyrocketing, a fairytale championship run with the Bucks and the coveted MVP prize could see Antetokounmpo become more popular in Africa’s most populous country. Inadvertently, Antetokounmpo’s rise will likely also mean he becomes central to the NBA’s plans to grow its fan base across Africa.

The league has already shown strong commitment to growing an audience and talent pool on the continent signing broadcast deals, opening an official academy and, most recently, backing a regional African league.

Family / ‘the Greek Freak’ Wants To Go Back To His Nigerian Roots by Onlytru: 11:41pm On May 07, 2019
“The Greek Freak” can’t wait to go learn more about his roots.

His roots in Lagos, Nigeria.

“Obviously, a lot of people don’t know where I’m from,” Milwaukee Bucks All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo told The Undefeated. “A lot of people think my mom or my dad are from Greece, but no. Both of my parents are black. Both of my parents are Nigerian.”

Charles and Veronica Adetokunbo moved from Lagos to Greece in 1991 in hopes of a better future for themselves and their family after struggling to find employment. The Adetokunbos’ eldest son, Francis, was left behind in Lagos to be raised by his grandparents. Charles Adetokunbo worked as a handyman and wife Veronica as a baby sitter in their struggle to make ends meet for their family, which was the only black one in the area, according to The New York Times. The Adetokunbos had four more sons, all born in Greece, including Giannis on Dec. 6, 1994. (Antetokounmpo became Giannis’ surname after it was spelled that way on his Greek passport instead of his birth name of Adetokunbo.)

Antetokounmpo grew up in Greek culture learning the language, going to school and eventually starting to play basketball at age 7. But when he was home with his family, he learned and lived the Nigerian way.

“I grew up in a Nigerian home,” Antetokounmpo said. “Obviously, I was born in Greece and went to school in Greece. But at the end of the day when I go home, there is no Greek culture. It’s straight-up Nigerian culture. It’s about discipline, it’s about respecting your elders, having morals.”

Veronica Adetokunbo spoke to her sons in the Nigerian language of Igbo, which is one of the four official Nigerian languages and is spoken by about 18 million people in Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea, according to several websites.

“I can understand it a little bit. I can count. It’s not like I’m fluent,” Antetokounmpo said of Igbo. “It’s not like I can go back home to Nigeria and they can understand what I am saying. It’s kind of funny.

“Both my parents are from Nigeria. But Nigeria is like 250 dialects, so my mom and my dad don’t speak the same language.”

Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon, who is arguably the greatest international basketball player of all time and one of the greatest NBA players, also has a Nigerian connection with Antetokounmpo. Olajuwon told The Undefeated that he and Antetokounmpo are Yoruba.

“I know from his last name that we are from the same tribe, the Yoruba tribe. His last name, which in Yoruba is spelled Adetokunbo, means ‘the crown has returned from overseas,’ ” Olajuwon said.

With the Bucks owning the best record in the NBA, Antetokounmpo appears to be the front-runner for the 2019 NBA MVP award, competing against the likes of the Houston Rockets’ James Harden, the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Paul George and the Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant. Antetokounmpo is averaging 27.1 points, 12.6 rebounds and six assists and led the Eastern Conference in All-Star votes.

“I’m sure Nigerians are very proud of him, especially because of the way he has conducted himself and how he is dominating the league,” Olajuwon said. “He has accomplished a great deal in such a short period of time.”

Antetokounmpo wasn’t projected to be a superstar when he was selected 15th overall in the first round of the 2013 NBA draft by the Bucks. But former Warriors center Festus Ezeli, also a native of Nigeria, believed Antetokounmpo would be special after seeing him score a game-high 22 points for Team Africa in the first Africa Game in Johannesburg, on Aug. 1, 2015. The exhibition was Antetokounmpo’s first trip to Africa.

“Oh, my God, he took over for Team Africa in South Africa,” Ezeli said. “We were talking about it on the bench, ‘This kid right here. …’ I was thinking, ‘Yo, this kid is really special.’ Just the ease of how he did things and the way he was getting to the cup, the athleticism was there. And in a friendly game in Africa, the competitiveness and edge were there.”

Olajuwon also spent time with Antetokounmpo on the trip and said he enjoyed meeting his family.

“It is always good to trace back your roots,” Olajuwon said.

Antetokounmpo hasn’t traced his roots in person yet but says he hopes to visit Nigeria either this summer or next summer. He said he nearly went to Nigeria last summer, but “my mom said, ‘No, don’t go, because everyone is going to be on top of you.’ ”

Sadly, his father died at the age of 54 after a heart attack in 2017.

“I want to see where my family comes from, where my mom was raised, see my family, see where my dad was raised. That is very important. I hope my kids can do the same thing for me,” Antetokounmpo said. “Obviously, I am going to have kids that are going to grow up in the U.S., but one day I hope they can go back [to Greece] and visit and see where I grew up, the playground I was playing.”

Antetokounmpo said he also got his Nigerian passport in 2015.

When asked why he acquired a Nigerian passport, Antetokounmpo answered, “It’s important. It’s part of who I am. Both of my parents are Nigerian. They wanted me to get it. I wanted to have it, so I got it.”

“The Greek Freak” said during the recent NBA All-Star Weekend that he loves his nickname and it’s “a part of who I am right now.” But he also told The Undefeated that he is much more than just “The Greek Freak” by strongly stating he is also a proud African.

“There are a lot of people that I see and I tell them that I am African. I am not just ‘The Greek Freak,’ ” Antetokounmpo said.

“It doesn’t matter what people may believe because of my nickname. There were a lot of times when I was in Greece where people said, ‘You’re not Greek. You’re Nigerian because you’re black.’ But then there have been a lot of times where it’s been the opposite, where people say, ‘You’re not African. You’re Greek. You’re ‘The Greek Freak.’ ’ But I don’t really care about that. Deep down, I know who I am and where I am from. That’s all that matters to me.”

The truth is here in America, you can only go with the bank rate ... period! Rate of T-bills in America is ~3% a far cry from what you will get in Nigeria. Money mutual and fixed deposit are even worse ~1.5%

Bluecollarguy:
As a diaspora account holder who got tired of waiting for unsuccessful primary auctions, GTBank finally allowed me to bid in the secondary market, thanks to some of you who hinted me on how to go about it. My secondary market transaction is explained below:

Principal = #3.2m, Tenor = 182days. My stated rate based on my findings on this forum yesterday(March20) = 12.2%

Today, I received these 4 alerts for debited amounts:

(1) N3,033,937.44 ... (2) N3,740.55 ... (3) N192.03 ... (4) N100

I understand that alerts 2-4 pertain to the deducted(whatever) fees, but my focus is on alert (1) using calculation below:

I = (3,200,000 - 3,033,937.44) = N166,062.56

166,062.56 = 3,200,000 *R *182/364
R = 10.38%

As a customer/investor, if my stated Tbill rate is 12.2%, is the bank legally obligated to disregard my instruction and apply whatever rate? Here in America, if the similar event takes place, the transaction would not go through, on the basis that my stated rate is>secondary market rate. OR the bank would have the decency of sending me the available secondary rates and options, and allow me to select one.

So, my fellow investors, I come to you with humility for your take on this matter: Since the bank did not explicitly tell me what rate was applied on my investment, is my calculation for the rate correct? Is 10.38% too low for 182 days, compared to the recently published secondary rates by various banks? Do banks in Nigeria always disregard your instructions and apply whatever rate in the secondary auction? OR am I overreacting? I am only putting this out there to help me eliminate all vagueness and help me prepare better for future investments. As always, your input is greatly appreciated!
Sports / Kamaru Usmain Defeated Tyron Woodley To Claimed The UFC Welterweight by Onlytru: 6:31am On Mar 03, 2019
Kamaru Usman claimed the UFC welterweight throne last night (Sat., Mar. 2, 2019) at UFC 235 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, when he dominated champion Tyron Woodley over the course of five brutal rounds.

It was early pressure for Usman as he put Woodley against the cage and landed hard inside strikes. Woodley couldn’t get much of anything going outside of an early guillotine attempt. The second round was all Usman as the contender landed foot stomps, shoulder bumps, knees to the thighs, and a big elbow off the clinch. He then landed a slamming takedown that put the champ on his back. From here, Usman scored elbows in bunches from top position that cut “Chosen One” up.

The third round saw Usman handle Woodley in the clinch and land heavy body punches at will. Woodley didn’t do much to get “Nigerian Nightmare” off him as Usman eclipsed 100 body strikers within 14 minutes of action. Usman did even more damage in the fourth round as he started to catch Woodley on the feet with vicious uppercuts inside and right hands over the top. The champ somehow survived.

In Round 5, Woodley put everything he had left into a guillotine attempt along the cage, but Usman earned another slamming takedown and pinned the champion to the mat. From there, Usman rode out the frame with sneaky offense from top control and watched the clock count down to his dominant championship victory.

Sports / NBA Announces Basketball Africa League To Start In 2020; Barack Obama Involved by Onlytru: 8:35am On Feb 17, 2019
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver on Saturday announced the launch of the Basketball Africa League, a 12-team competition consisting of teams across the continent.

The league, which will begin play in 2020, will feature squads from Angola, Egypt, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa and Tunisia. Qualification tournaments will be held later this year to determine the inaugural participants.

Each country will be limited to two teams. The plan is to have it run in a format similar to soccer's UEFA Champions League, per Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated.

"As we've been talking about this concept over the last several months, there's been a tremendous reception from several of our NBA team owners," Silver said. "Several of our partners have also expressed an interest to work with us in Africa."

Basketball Africa League is the NBA's first pro league outside North America and will be co-run with FIBA. President Barack Obama will also be part of the league, Silver said, according to the Associated Press' Tim Reynolds. Obama's role has not been determined.

"There's been a fantastic reception," Silver said.

The NBA has held exhibition games in Africa in three of the previous four years. As of July, more than 80 current and former players are from Africa or have ties to the continent. The league has held 16 Basketball Without Borders events in Africa.

"We're excited to work closely with the NBA to develop and put in a place a professional league like none that we have ever seen in our region before," FIBA Africa executive director Alphonse Bile said. "Through the Basketball Africa League, we can provide the many great clubs and players with the best possible environment to compete for the highest stakes."

Family / Nigerian Brothers Arrested In Jussie Smollett Case by Onlytru: 2:48am On Feb 16, 2019
Both Abel and Ola Osundairo apparently share all life experiences together, because along with co-owning a party store and sharing a dual arrest over the alleged attack on Jussie Smollett, they both went through bankruptcy together.

According to documents obtained by The Blast, Olabinjo “Ola” Osundairo and Abimbola “Abel” Osundairo filed each filed for bankruptcy in Chicago back in September 2016.

As for what they owed, each brother listed thousands of dollars owed in student loans, as well as other liabilities, and both claimed to earn minimal income.

Abel claimed he had $72,771 in liabilities, including $39,000 in student loans. The bodybuilder stated he only made $142 per month from “odd jobs,” which left him over $300 in the hole each month.

Ola claimed his debt had soared to $161,481, including $85,000 in student loans. Ola, who is an aspiring rapper and appeared on “Empire,” listed his income at $160 per month.

Both brothers listed a party and decoration store, It’s Party Time, as a shared asset, but claimed the business was operating at a loss. The party store, located on Archer Ave in Chicago, is now reportedly closed.

Abel and Ola were able to work through their bankruptcy, and both brothers were discharged a couple months after filing.

As we reported, both Ola and Abel have been arrested in connection with the alleged attack on Jussie Smollett, but have not yet been charged with a crime. The brother’s attorney has denied their involvement in the attack, but during a search of their apartment, cops found bleach that they believe may have been used during the attack with Smollett.

There is no way the government can revoke citizenship nor a driver's license based on a paternity test. Somebody should please give Madam Kemi her med(s)

Interesting.... I guess you right bro

Not true...

See the respective section on filing for step-siblings https://www.uscis.gov/family/family-us-citizens/bringing-siblings-live-united-states-permanent-residents

Romance / Re: If Your Boyfriend Moves To USA Without Green Card, Just Move On by Onlytru: 1:34am On Dec 20, 2018
Your statement is partially true. The false part is that "step-sibling" can't file for each other. There is/are no category(ies) for step-sibling or cousins, uncle, aunts, etc to file for a family member. However, parents can file for their married/unmarried child(ren), brother/sister can file for their immediate sibling for immigrant visa

2buffagain:

Ah yes.
Having a US citizen as a sibling or step-sibling makes you eligible for a green card.

Having DIRECT (sibling, parent, spouse, child) family links in general in the US makes you eligible to apply for a green.
