The United States Government has refused to comment or deny a statement credited to President Donald Trump, that Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari was “lifeless”, following a visit to the White House earlier this year. Aruba Amirthanayagam, who is Counselor for Public Affairs, US Embassy, while speaking in Minna, Niger State on Tuesday during his visit to Zubair Idris, the Executive Director of Prestige FM Radio, said: “We have no specific comment on that, a newspaper published it, the paper should comment on it”. Amirthanayagam also said that it will not take side in the Nigeria’s 2019 general election, saying it wants the winner to be elected in a free and fair contest. “And we will do all we can to assist Nigeria’s government. “The United States expects that the 2019 general elections will be free and transparent. “I think we should repeat the success we had in the last election because we have had elections in some parts of Africa that have not gone well. What we got in 2015 was great for Nigeria and for the rest of Africa and other developing countries,” he said. http://dailypost.ng/2018/08/29/us-government-speaks-calling-buhari-lifeless-expects-2019-election/

President Buhari was reportedly furious on seeing the Financial Times report credited to President Trump. President Buhari reportedly boasted that when he was ''president in 1983 that President Trump was still in college''. However President Buhari had last night called on Nigerian allies across the world to intimate them on possible sanctions against America. One of the aides in the villa who spoke to us but pleaded to remain anonymous said that President Buhari is set to ''cut all diplomatic ties with America to punish President Trump and use him to set an example across the world''. President Buhari was a ''Sandhurst trained general who fought in the Congo war, Burma war and second world war'', said a sources in the Ministry of External affairs in Abuja. It was believed that he brought his experience and intelligence to bear on the second world war which led to it's eventual stop in 1945. ''President Buhari is a force to reckon with in the military circle around the world'', said by an anonymous source in the presidency. A source at the Villa said, that Buhari cannot be pushed around as he is revered all over the world because of his stand on integrity and role he played in the second world war which the world powers cannot forget in a hurry. More details were still being expected as American diplomats were sighted trooping into the Nigeria's seat of power to lobby Nigerian government to stand down on its hard stance on America. Feelers within the United States missions in Abuja feared that the consequences of President Trump's remark on President Buhari could be devastating because it is believed across the globe that President Buhari of Nigeria is a man of high-standing integrity and corruption-free and could wield the big stick against America and American interest around the world. Nigeria is Africa's largest economy and the leading voice in Africa and world. It is believed that if President Trump does not apologize to President Buhari and Nigeria as a country within a record time that Nigeria would be left with no other option than to hit America hard with economic and financial sanctions like the world has never seen before.
