Some of the returnees, according a local Hausa radio program monitored in Kano, complained that they were held for months and exposed to hardship before they were brought to Kano.

The Lagos State government has deported 70 northerners, found publicly begging, which has been banned in the state.

The deportees are presently in Kano State after being bundled out of Lagos, where they were stationed.

The young man who was said to be test-driving the "customised" automobile, drove it round the school to the admiration of other students.

The United States Government has refused to comment or deny a statement credited to President Donald Trump, that Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari was “lifeless”, following a visit to the White House earlier this year.


Aruba Amirthanayagam, who is Counselor for Public Affairs, US Embassy, while speaking in Minna, Niger State on Tuesday during his visit to Zubair Idris, the Executive Director of Prestige FM Radio, said: “We have no specific comment on that, a newspaper published it, the paper should comment on it”.

Amirthanayagam also said that it will not take side in the Nigeria’s 2019 general election, saying it wants the winner to be elected in a free and fair contest.


“And we will do all we can to assist Nigeria’s government.

“The United States expects that the 2019 general elections will be free and transparent.

“I think we should repeat the success we had in the last election because we have had elections in some parts of Africa that have not gone well. What we got in 2015 was great for Nigeria and for the rest of Africa and other developing countries,” he said.

However President Buhari had last night called on Nigerian allies across the world to intimate them on possible sanctions against America. It was believed that he brought his experience and intelligence to bear on the second world war which led to it's eventual stop in 1945. ''President Buhari is a force to reckon with in the military circle around the world'', said by an anonymous source in the presidency. A source at the Villa said, that Buhari cannot be pushed around as he is revered all over the world because of his stand on integrity and role he played in the second world war which the world powers cannot forget in a hurry.
