Checkwell:The same teachers also said "there is time for everything" ![]() |
orikoku:You will be shocked to realise that almost 30% of people in prison did not get there due to any trouble they caused. A lot of people are in prison today unjustly, due to a failed system, with failed institutions of government, where the less privileged are treated as available prey while the rich and privileged feast on them. |
Lagos and violence. Thugs, touts, cultists, agberos everywhere. All forms of thuggery and cult activities in that state. |
89green:I understand you clearly and I support your comment 100%. I'm only pointing out why there is failure in government function of checks and balance. I'm saying the government functionaries who indeed it's their responsibility to do the checks and balance are either swimming in bribes or have a lot of skeletons themselves in their cupboard and so are afraid to go hard on the checks and balance function to avoid exposure. |
89green:You cannot talk with too much dollars stuffed in your mouth or too much skeletons in your cupboard. Remember NMDPRA boss farouk. |
This is actually how forceful and how compelling citizens should be on their political leaders in demanding the fulfillment of their campaign agreements with the masses. If one man can be this forceful and dogged in demanding the fulfillment of an agreement made to him by a political leader, up to the point of threatening the leader with impeachment if the agreement is not met, then imagine the impact, accountability and development we as a nation can achieve if the masses come together to forcefully and doggedly demand fulfillment of campaign agreements politician make with the masses. |
soqmeov:I will not do for you what your parents failed to do for you in your upbringing. Continue living in your gutters unchallenged. |
oshiokpu:There is a lot you don't understand. This issue will put wike in a very big problem. He has given the president and many big wigs in APC a reason to clamp his wings. |
nairavsdollars:The assembly men do not understand that unlike the first attempt, this time it is the APC leadership and president Tinubu that they are challenging. This is not a smart move. |
Ezeama400:Many Empires in the past had also thought same of their empires based on very logical and strategic reasons too. Their military might, financial strength, number of well trained battle hardened soldiers, fortified boundaries that was almost impregnable and a fortress, but alas, they still fell. No nation is infallible, no empire is indestructible. No matter how fortified they may be, there is always an achilles heel, it could even be from within. But I pray America never falls. Right now, I do not trust any other nation can do better in directing world affairs while permiting and respecting human rights like America. |
fasho01:This is easier said than done. It should be the ideal thing but it can never be a practical thing with the kind of politics that is played in Nigeria. Political office holders especially governors have absolute and unristricted control of the state funds. Elections do not come cheap in Nigeria, also to maintain a structure that can win you votes is very expensive in Nigeria. Why do you think every political party tries to lobby governors to their party? They need their cash. They also need their structures which they have been able to build with state funds at their disposal. Wike as a governor was able to sponsor and sustain PDP for over 4years single handedly, if not for him the party would have fizzled away during buhari's 2nd tenure, that is why he feels the party is indebted to him. So, you cannot say a state governor whom you are relying on heavily both for funds and to win you his state will not be allowed the power to dictate political decisions in his state. That will just be crises waiting to happen. |
Chiefwandungu:I watched it live and I heard the noise, it was too much, so much that it forced the arise correspondence in arise studio to call for a quick break. I noticed the guy never returned after the break to continue the interview. Arise just moved on to other news. |
brownemmanuel43:It is lagos hoodlums. Not the whole Nigerians. You people should always learn to point directly at the problem and not generalise it on the entire country. Lagos as a state, has a huge problem with hooliganism, thugs, agberos, cultists, touts etc that seriously needs to be addressed for sanity to return to the state. We have calabar festival and numerous other cultural festivals around Nigeria, they are not like this. |
Something really needs to be done systematically about the level of thuggery, touts, agberos, cultists and criminality in lagos. With all the resources centered in the state you still feel uneasy about the thuggery and touts everywhere. |
portacabin:My dear, after seeing the kind of characters I see on Nairaland, I no longer wonder why we have the kind of leaders we have in this country. I no longer wonder why leaders do anyhow they like with no regards to consequences. They know they have a sea of sen.seless population out there. |
omoredia:I thought hisbah was created by an executive Act ratified by the state house of assembly and signed by the executive governor, under the supervision of the IG of police? So they cannot be called non-state actors. They were created by state law, under the supervision of the IG of police. Just like Amotekun in the south west. I stand to be corrected. |
So he did not also have time to watch at least one live news report in a day. If he could have time to read the papers, how did he not have time to listen to at least one live news broadcast per day, especially when critical events occurred in the nation. It indeed shows how naive and unfit he was to lead a vast and critical nation like Nigeria. |
UTILITYMAY:If the people of Rivers state so resent the president/APC, then it could be a case of them voting for APC in support of Fubara and his team in the upper and lower houses of assembly, then voting against APC in the presidential elections. It has happened before in several elections in some states in the North. Especially during buhari's time, where a different party was voted for in the gubernatorial and national / state assemblies election and a different party for the presidential elections. |
I'm surprised to see Japan in that list. |
If this happens, then APC will have a serious task ahead. Especially if PDP merges with ADC. It will be a huge coalition. No matter how tattered you may think PDP is, they still have huge organic and historical supporters and support bases that can be revived by a strong merger. |
When I heard him say that on channels TV I was shocked. I almost thought he was just joking. Even a call made by an individual in a 4hours cross country train ride can be traced from the source tower to the very last routing tower. |
These are also high quality cable manufacturers, 1. Nexans kablemetal 2. Nigerchin cables |
What will the negotiation be based on? What are the requests of the bandits? How many other bandit groups will be negotiated with in the future, following the precedence set? Is banditry now a legal and constitutional business? Hope the negotiation will be applied for bandits from all region of the country and not just for bandits from a particular region alone? So that it is not a case of deploying heavy military apparatus to kill them all when they are from a particular region but negotiate with them when they are from the region considered as second class. |
If not for the billions stolen from the coffers of Rivers state by the criminal administrator for 6months, Rivers state would have been self sufficient or at least sufficient. |
AndroBlaze:In a Federal police arrangement, the president through the IGP controls the police as the Chief security officer or CIC of the Country. In a state police arrangement, the governor through his commissioner of police controls the police as the chief security officer of the state. So, if we have a regional police, when we do not have a regional system of government in place, who will the police force in the region answer to? Who will be the Head or CIC of such police establishment? |
Insecurity in Nigeria has become a lucrative business to some and a political leverage or tool to others. This is the reason it is difficult to eliminate. |
brain54:The man Wike himself is the biggest beneficiary of this form of injustice and abuse of power. That's why a lot of people are happy he has been served his own menu. Let him also have a taste of what he does to others. |
Shawarmagirl:This is why till tomorrow the South South Region still considers Jonathan's tenure a waste of South South opportunity. Even in Bayelsa his home state, no roads, no portable water, no hospitals, nothing, absolutely nothing to show for a people that had their son as president for a wooping 6years tenure. Imagine what Tinubu would do for the yorubas with a six year tenure. Majority of the LGAs in Bayelsa can only be accessed by boats, no road networks. The East West Road which is a major economic link road for the Niger delta states was abandoned, Ogoni oil spill cleanup abandoned, onne port, and all the ports within the south South, all abandoned, I can go on and on. Yet Jonathan was president for a full 6years. |
I just love the courage, wisdom and audacity of this guy. These are the type of people needed to truly force a positive change in a nation by telling truth to power without fear of any consequences. I salute you Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. What you are doing transcends just Justice for Igbos, it is a battle to institutionalise Justice, equity and fairness in the nation Nigeria, and to awaken citizens to their rights and privileges as enshrined in the constitution. |
Shimbo96:Are you implying that pretence is an integral part of America's culture? |
