Though the responsibility to keep the citizens safe is that of the government but don't be in a haste to put the blame on the present government. The questions we need to ask is what reconciliation effort is being made by the Government of both Taraba and Benue States, who are the people sponsoring these militia groups. In the years past several attempts have been made by previous administrations but yielded no result The solution to this crisis I strongly believe lies between these two waring tribes, without a resolute to sheath swords , the blood bath will continue till Jesus comes
BELOW IS AN EXCERPT WHICH GIVES AN INSIGHT INTO THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE INCESSANT CRISIS
Tiv-Jukun conflict has had a long history of occurrence and reoccurrence over a period of time. since the late 1950s, with sporadic outbreaks in 1959, 1964, 1976, 1990-1992, and again in 2000-2001. In many instances, the conflict has resulted in the destruction of lives and properties and internal displacement of civilians. The conflict has affected the relationship between the two ethnic groups who have been living together cordially. There has been contention on citizenship between them. In broad terms, the Jukun claimed to be the original inhabitants of Wukari or indigenes and consider the Tiv as settlers. The Tiv refused to accept this view on the basis that they too have been living there for decades and therefore have equal rights; they complain of being marginalized and rejected in Taraba. Also, the Jukun minority in Benue also complain of marginalization, lack of employment opportunities, and insecurity. The Tiv, who are seen as “settlers”, are deprived of many rights given to indigenous groups such as discrimination in education, economic opportunities, employment, political representation and etc. The Tiv therefore say that they are fighting for equal rights. which they believe they are entitled to as indigenes of Taraba state. Over the years, the communities have found increasing difficulty in living together in peace. These two tribes have been at war and like the Israelis and Palestinians, they live with each other, depend on each other and yet, fight each other. Benue is often referred to as the Tiv state, and Taraba as that of the Jukun. This position gives leverage to political polarization which gradually turned into physical segregation. As violence has intensified in Taraba, an increasing number of Tiv have fled to the neighboring state, Benue. The Tiv outnumbers the Jukun and have always used their population advantage to decide electoral contests in Wukari and Taraba state in general. This has not been acceptable for the Jukun. Towards peaceful co-existence, the Nigerian government should implement the report of the previous committees, a proper sharing formula between the two ethnic group and address the issue of citizenship rights constitutionally. |

alBHAGDADI: This is just a sign that there's something sick with Nigerians. We claim our country is horrible, so we run for greener pastures. Sadly, the horrible things we claim to have run away from are replicated in the greener pastures thereby destroying those places. That shows that almost every individual Nigerian is the cause of the problems Nigeria is facing.
We have gone to small Ghana there to teach them Yahoo plus and kidnapping, yet we kick when south africans descend on us with xenophobia. I can't but agree with you on this. |

You nailed it. . bikerboy1: 90% are not happy that the show ended. Cuz they won't be seeing the good show again.
Just 10% are not happy about the ending storyline...
But everyone is attacking the writers for a poor ending instead stating they want the series to continue.
Best way to achieve this, let Cercie and Jemy escape as planned by Tyrion, they get new army and followers. By then Dany would have lost the people's support because of her action. The war continues...

acounter2: Yoruba people Will Not Kill Us Sha. just realise this of recent thanks to NYSC.
Ogun:- (medicine)
Ogun:- (charm)
Ogun:- (war)
Ogun:- (State)
Ogun:- (god of iron)
Ogun:- (twenty)
Ogun:- (sweat)
Ogun:- (property)
Ogun:- (climb)
Ogun:- (long)
Only one word, 11 meanings!! *I Not totally in agreement with some of the words here for example Sweat in the true Yoruba translation is "Oògùn" So also Climb "gun". In a situation where you refer to Ogun as climb, that means it's no longer a single word but two words which should be written separately as "O gun" which means the "O" which is a pronoun for either he/she "gun" MEANING : HE/SHE CLIMBS, HE/SHE CLIMBED Actually a few of the words there are not single word but double like O gun = he climbed, O gun = he stabbed, O gun = it's long |
Politics › Re: See The Oshodi Transport Interchange That Was Recently PreCommissioned (PHOTOS) by opportunities12: 7:31am On Apr 26, 2019 |
God bless you for this piece. No wonder Tinubu's refusal to be a part of this joke of thing. seguntijan: When some people out of naivety were pitying the outgoing Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode over his ill-fated second term bid, I laughed becuase they didn't know the kind of character he is. Akin is naturally vindictive and wicked. The crazy rush to falsely impress the world that he had performed outstandingly well by commissioning uncompleted projects just to prevent his successor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu from taking credit of commssioning those projects smacks of kindergarten act and immaturity. Former Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN is a man in his own class. A complete Omoluabi and matured mind. Fashola didn't rush to commission uncompleted projects just to take the glory. Infact, the former governor deliberately left the commissioning of the completed # LASEMA Centre at Cappa, Oshodi and other landmark projects for his successor, Ambode to commission. Yet Ambode who had launched war of attrition and smear campaign against BRF immediately he assumed office failed to invite him to witness the commissioning of the project he completed. Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo had to 'conscript' Fashola into his entourage for the ocassion. Fashola took the whole thing in his stride and focus on his assignments in Abuja as a super minister. He never fought back. It should be noted that Ambode who could steal the glory to commission BRF's completed projects could not finish many ongoing projects Fashola left. The abandoned Ilubinrin Housing is one major example among many others. Out of hatred for Fashola, Governor Ambode refused to provide land for the minister to build the Federal Government Mass Housing Scheme for Lagos State. All the states of the federation including Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had provided land except Lagos. Work had reached advanced stage in many states, yet Ambode denied Lagos such project becuase of needless rift. Ambode drifted off course by latching on to projects that were not expedient and worst still some which the Federal Government had indicated to handle. The governor insisted on spending Lagos taxpayers' money on the reconstruction of Lagos Airport Road which the Federal Government had agreed to build. It beats logic that Lagos with huge infrastructure deficit and deplorable roads, Ambode could insist on spending such billions of Naira on such project when the Federal Government was willing to foot the bill out of the national pool which the state contributes lion's share. Ambode even cried out that Fashola had declined approval for the construction of the road as if it was his duty. He is a glory seeker! Whilst he was busy fighting over Lagos Airport road which was not his business, he cancelled his campaign promise and plans to build Fourth Mainland Bridge that will crisscross the Lagos Lagoon and serpentine through Ikorodu. The Agric/Ishawo/Asolo road which was intended to link Arepo in Ogun State had since been abandoned. Residents and motorists plying the road face nightmare daily. The same harrowing experience is the fate of residents of Igbogbo Baiyeku where houses were demolished for road construction. No contractor on sites. The hyped construction of Pen Cinema Bridge in Agege has been muted since last year when he literally suspended governance. Portholes have turned to 'boreholes' on major highways across the state. Even in the Central Business District, CBD Alausa, very close to the seat of power, massive gullies are everywhere. One can imagine the state of roads in the hinterlands and the densely populated areas.
Ambode will once again throw the bustling city into chaos. He had invited President Muhammadu Buhari for another round of jamboree. The president handlers should please advise him to ignore the clownish governor who has failed greatly. The presidency should asked of updates and status of projects which were commissioned by the President last year, March 29, 2018. The glorified bus stop in Ikeja which Ambode brought Mr President to Lagos commission is yet to be put to use. Infact, It is being 'remodelled' after it was commissioned. The Oshodi Transport Interchange is not yet a completed project and Lagos Airport Road is not 90 percent near completion. Mr President should save himself the embarrassment Ambode caused him last year by 'rebreaking' the Lagos Atlantic City ground which Fashola had earlier invited former President Goodluck Jonathan to perform. Ambode should stop wasting his time. He cannot become minister. We understand how he has been spending Lagos money on some people in Abuja just to impress them. He is a failure which cannot be reinforced |
