Asiwaju Jagaban without you saying it, the whole world know it all, History has a place for you in nigeria, forget those with bad belle who never see any good about you, we the true sons and daugther of the yoruba will for ever be great full to God for giving us a leader that you are. Just keep it up we are behind you and God is ur gide. |
The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, says he made a big sacrifice to ensure that the All Progressives Congress did well in the last elections. Tinubu, who is a former governor of Lagos State, said this at the 70th birthday anniversary of social commentator and National Democratic Coalition chieftain, Prof. Segun Gbadegesin, in Lagos on Monday. The APC leader said the Peoples Democratic Party ruled Nigeria for 16 years because opposition parties failed to unite. He recalled that in 2011, his party, the Action Congress of Nigeria; Congress for Progressive Change and the All Nigeria Peoples Party presented separate presidential candidates and the PDP leveraged on the small size of these parties. Tinubu said there was also a tendency for the leaders of smaller parties to make themselves the presidential candidates of their respective parties thereby causing division within their parties. He said ahead of the 2015 election, however, leaders of the legacy parties (ACN, CPC and ANPP) that formed the APC, including himself, had to suppress their personal ambitions to be able to “chase away the PDP government led by former President Goodluck Jonathan, because in the past those who float political parties end up as its chairman and presidential candidate.” Tinubu, who was also part of the NADECO campaign from exile, told the audience that progressive politics was the answer to the problems of Nigeria and that the hope and confidence Nigerians had in the APC before the elections would not be dashed Also speaking at the launch of Gbadegesin’s book, titled “All The Way: Serving With Conscience”, a former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Segun Osoba, praised the contribution of Gbadegesin to the pro-democracy struggle, with the programmes he anchored in Yoruba Language on the defunct Radio Kudirat. Osoba described Gbadegesin as a peacemaker saying, “He visited me the other day, to plead that I should reunite politically with my estranged APC family.” Gbadegesin, a Professor of Philosophy, was the Head of Department of Philosophy and Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, Howard University, Washington DC, United States, who worked as an undercover operative in the dark days of the Gen. Sani Abacha military dictatorship as one of the main anchors of Radio Kudirat; the propaganda organ of NADECO. Source www.punchng.com/i-made-huge-sacrefice-to-get-buhari-elected-tinubu/

The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has said that he will emerge victorious at the end, despite his current political challenges. Wike, who was making a veiled reference to the Appeal Court ruling that nullified his election, urged the people of the state not to be afraid of the manipulations of those who had ganged up against the state. Addressing thousands of Christian faithful at the First Rivers State Christmas Carol in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike said since he started politics, he had never had any victory cheaply, stressing that the current challenge would not be different. “I was the only council chairman in the country whose political litigation got to the Supreme Court during the 1999 electioneering process. I got my victory at the Supreme Court in April, 2000,” Wike recalled. He explained that as Christians, Rivers people should always look unto God for their salvation, pointing out that the machinations of men could never overcome the will of God. The governor said, “When God is doing something, He wants you to know that He alone deserves the glory and praise.” On the First Rivers State Christmas Carol, Wike said the programme was organised to give God the glory for the successful take-off of his administration and to pray for the consolidation of the development already attained. He explained that the initiation of the Carol programme was not the end of CARNIRIV, noting that the cultural programme would be held in future. The governor noted that during his campaign consultation with the clergy, he promised to appoint a Special Adviser on Religious Matters, hold a major Christian programme and build an Ecumenical Centre for all Christians in the state. Wike stated that he had already accomplished two while the Ecumenical Centre would be constructed soon. The Special Adviser on Religious Matters to the Governor, Bishop Winston Iwo, described the programme as an inter-denominational thanksgiving to God for ensuring that the state weathered the storms, despite the numerous challenges facing it. The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has asked the lawmaker representing Ikeja federal constituency of Lagos State, Mr. James Faleke, who is also the deputy governor-elect in Kogi State to make up his mind on which state he actually represents. The PDP said this in a statement by its chairman, Capt. Tunji Shelle (retd.), on Sunday. The party said Faleke, who has been battling for an executive position in Kogi State, had short-changed the people of Ikeja who voted for him on March 28, 2015. Faleke was the running mate of the late Kogi governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Abubakar Audu. Following Audu’s death, however, Mr. Yahaya Bello was picked as Audu’s replacement but Faleke maintains that he is the rightful successor to Audu and is in a legal battle with his party over the matter. The PDP therefore accused Faleke, the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission of desperation, political immorality and gross violation of the spirit of the Electoral Law. The party called on the House of Representatives to exhibit non-partisanship in the matter by making public its unequivocal stance on the proprietary or otherwise of Faleke’s continued membership of the House even after transferring his voter details to Kogi State. The PDP boss described the present status of Faleke in the House as that of a “usurper who should no longer be fit and proper to be called an honourable member.” The party, therefore, gave Faleke seven days to declare his present place of voter registration and for INEC to clear the air on the appropriateness of Faleke inter-changing polling units within a period of less than six months. “If the demand is not met within the period of this ultimatum, we shall use all means permitted and effective to reclaim the seat for Lagos State,” the party said. Shelle added, “Faleke should not continue to represent the Ikeja constituency because he presently has his voting unit relocated to Kogi State. This is open assault to decent democracy and ridicules the nation before the international community.” In his reaction, however, Faleke urged the PDP chairman to mind his business. The lawmaker said if the party was dissatisfied with the status quo, it should take him to court instead of making empty threats. Faleke said the PDP had no regard for its own constitution and wondered what moral right Shelle had to give him a seven-day ultimatum. He said, “Shelle must have read the constitution upside down by reading immorality to what I have done. He should consult experts to have a better understanding of the statute book. “Why should he give me a seven-day ultimatum? If he is so serious about what he is saying, he should go to court tomorrow. This is a constitutional democracy. The law is there to be tested.” Source www.punchng.com/you-can't-represent-lagos-and-kogi-pdp-tell-faleke/

A 26-year-old man, Taiwo Oluwatobi, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command, for allegedly luring his Facebook lover to his house, and raping her. PUNCH Metro learnt that Oluwatobi had met the 24-year-old victim, identified only as Temitope, on Facebook. He had allegedly lured her to his house in the Alagomeji, Yaba area of the state to collect N15,000, during which he raped her. It was gathered that the incident happened at the suspect’s friend’s rented apartment on Queens Street, Alagomeji, on Monday, November 30, and the visit was Oluwatobi and Temitope’s first meeting. It was gathered that the victim, who worked as a printer in the Mushin area, told Oluwatobi, who she reportedly met on Facebook around June 2015, that she needed N15,000 to settle a debt. The suspect was said to have invited the lady to Alagomeji, to meet each other and also collect the money. Temitope was said to have arrived at the apartment around 6pm and left at about 8pm, during which Oluwatobi allegedly raped her. The victim was said to have reported the matter to the Anti-Robbery Squad of the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba. It was learnt that Oluwatobi, who hails from Ila Orangun, Osun State, was arrested on Tuesday, December 1. According to the police, the suspect, said to be a graduate of a university in Oyo State, was also a suspected member of the Buccaneers’ Confraternity. It was gathered that the police also arrested the suspect’s friend, Adenuga Adedayo, in whose apartment the rape allegedly took place. Speaking with PUNCH Metro, Oluwatobi, who worked as a caterer, said he had a consensual sexual intercourse with Temitope, adding that he saw the lady off when she was going back home. He said he was shocked that she reported the sex as rape to the police. He said, “We met on Facebook some months ago. From Facebook, we began to talk on the telephone. That day was the first time we would meet, and we had a sexual intercourse. She does printing jobs and she stays in the Mushin area. “She had asked me for N15,000, saying she had a debt she needed to settle. I invited her to my area. After the intercourse, she went to the police to say I raped her. She was the one who told the police that I was a cult member. “The reason for her coming was that I promised to give her N15,000 to settle someone she owed money. We had sex and at about 8pm, she left. My friend was not at home that time and I see no reason to tell him that somebody visited me. “I joined the Buccaneers Confraternity when I was in 200-level in the university. I was just a member. After leaving school, I quit the group.” The friend, Adedayo, from Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, denied any knowledge of the rape, saying he housed Oluwatobi for a week when he (Oluwatobi) said he had a job to do in the area. He said, “The police accused me of housing a cultist and his girlfriend, but I did not know about the incident. I work in the Apapa area as a teacher. I did not know he is a cultist. He had come to me to assist him with accommodation, as he had a job in our area. That was in the last week of November.” The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joe Offor, had yet to reply to a text message sent to his phone on the incident.
