Wow, that's awesome, but I've heard so many horror stories of the police duping people and still end up not finding the phone

My phone, a redmi note 8 4/128GB was stolen on the 20th of January in Abuja. I wanted to track it immediately but was told to wait for 2weeks to 1month bcus the phone might still be switched off. I went to my local police station to lay a complaint but was told that the person doing the tracking wasn't around bcus it was on a Friday and might have gone to court. A friend now directed me to another police division where I met an officer. The officer said it will cost 30k to track the phone but he won't collect the full payment till the job is done. He collected my details and also took my phone carton. I paid an advance of 5k and he ran a trace to see if the phone was active of which it wasn't. So fast forward to the 13th of March he called me that my phone has being tracked to kano. L8r in the evening he called again and said the phone is now enroute Abuja on a night bus and I'm to receive it the next morning. The following morning he called me to bring his balance and come pick up my phone of which I did.

Note: I am using a custom rom on my phone. Havoc OS to be precise because I hate miui. As a result, my mi cloud account was disabled which enabled the police to track the phone even when the thieves flashed the phone. And as a snapdragon phone, it was difficult to change the imei number.

I have the same problem as you op...try saving with the piggyvest app, try the 'safe lock" option, it'll force you to save and kill the temptation because by the time you set your safe lock date for 2 years, you won't be able to withdraw after that two years, if you like break your phone , you'll not be able to withdraw until the due date...Piggvest helped me to save because I'm not good at saving at all, any money I see, I just spend anyhow ....

Go to settings -> Mi Account (registered your account if you haven't done that) -> Devices -> all your Xiaomi phone will appear after you click on devices, click on your phone -> find devices -> turn it on

To find your phone incase it has been stolen or perhaps formatted by the new user,
Login into your Mi cloud from any device @ i.mi.com. you'll be able to erased your data, lock the phone from your mi cloud even though the thief flash new ROM, play sound...

My redmi 7 was stolen last month. A phone that's just 4 months. The thief scale the fence and made away with my phone.

I had to report to the police, they track the phone to the guys house and made some arrest.


If your phone is stolen, don't give up, report to the police and follow the case. All they will demand from you is the pack of the phone and some little fee like 15 to 20k. Give them few weeks and your phone will be track as long as the person inserted a sim to it, the phone will report back the sim and tracking will commence.


To those buying second new phone, please be very careful so as not to buy stolen phones or answer case you know nothing about.

Who knows the phone might be from a robbery or kidnapping case.

You see the difference between informed users and relatively intelligent ones. If it were all these transion men they will never see this bitter flaw and call it out like you did for these redmi note 11; the truth is that xiaomi didn't do well in these redmi note 11 series or are they becoming complacent with what they are offering their customers maybe cos they feel we will be okay with whatsoever they churn. This redmi note 11 series should be a wake up call to their negligence in knowing what their customers want.
