I went to college in Nigeria and in the evenings,especially on weekends our hostel parking lot was swarming with men picking up and dropping off  girls
and believe me they were not going for choir practice.

Many of these girls got lots of financial paybacks for their services from these men and we saw their spoils of war like electronics,refrigerators,clothing,some even got cars

Now they didn't regard themselves as prostitutes even though they did everything prostitutes did,the only difference was that they were students also so maybe not "professional" callgirls.
There was also a well known  underground escort service at the hostel.

To the poster,if you see genuine repentance in this girl and you love her and believe her,you don't even need to tell her past history to your family.
