Different groups representing Iran's Jewish community on Tuesday gathered in front of the United Nations office in Teheran in order to protest "Israeli war crimes and the slaughter of the innocent people in Gaza Strip," the Iranian IRNA news agency reported.

The protesters, led by the Jewish representative in Parliament, Siamak Mara-Sedq, carried placards with anti-Israel slogans in both Farsi and Hebrew, the report said.

"We are here to express our support and sympathy with the Palestinian nation," Rahmatollah Rafi, the chairman of Iran's Jewish community was quoted as saying at the rally.

Hinting mainly at Egypt and Saudi Arabia, the report said that Rafi went on to criticize "certain Arab governments for their inaction and silence towards Israeli inhuman acts and war crimes in Gaza and the entire Palestinian territories."

Separately, IRNA reported that in a Tuesday speech to the Iranian parliament Mara-Sedq "expressed shock" over the "savage acts" perpetrated by "the Tel Aviv regime."

The report said that the Jewish MP "expressed hope that all the peace-loving nations and the true advocates of human rights would thoroughly support the defenseless Palestinian people and make Israel stop the genocide in the region by exerting pressure on Tel Aviv."

He also reportedly gave voice to the "hatred" the Iranian Jewish Community harbors towards "the Israeli crimes."

According to the report, Mara-Sedq's remarks elicited a chorus of anti-Israel and anti-US slogans from members of parliament.

Iranian Jewish leaders are often quoted as having given voice to extreme anti-Israel views, but it is unclear whether these opinions are imposed upon them by the regime.
Some 25,000 Jews live in Iran.

I have been purposely avoiding discussing this on Nairaland because it seems quite a lot of people are just willing to close their eyes to what has really been happening. @JustGood, how long have arabs/"palestines" been in the west bank region and how long have the Jews been there, before we start throwing around words like "occupiers"? I hope we haven't lost the ability to look through the news kwith our own objectvity as oppossed to taking everything CNN, BBC, Sky, etc say as the complete picture. Then to use the words bully in this situation, how amusing. I hope people are not afraid of being honest as opposed to being stifled by political correctness because being PC is quite unNigerian : ). War hardly does have winners (in my view) and it is a shame that there has been civillian casualties.

When 9/11 happened did anyone call al qaeda bullies? You may not agree with the war in iraq but that is not why i raised the issue. Perhaps lsome people would sleep better if Israel went to defend itself with cane and catapult. Rockets were being lunched from Gaza for a period of years and nothing was being said. THe rockests were being lunched from schools, hospitals, etc, in a densely populated region and no one was calling anyone bullies. Now a people are defending themselves and it suddenly becomes an issue of "moderation"? Now all the famous faces are coming out to condemn the fight in Gaza, where were they when Israel was taking bombs from Hamas? Is this some global prank or is there some information i am so badly not taking into consideration?

Again its a shame that innocent people are being caught up in this mess but let us not pretend as if it was out of the blue. It was not even pre emptive, it was defence. So what should Israel have done? Wait while Hamas obtains even longer ranging missles that can hit major cities in Israel? The world we live in is quite worrisome indeeed. How long will the rest of the world continue to cowerin the blanket of political correctness all in an attempt of not "offending" a certain group of people? Whatever happens, for peace to reign a longer lasting solution needs to be obtained so it won't just be a return to the norm when all eyes shift from Gaza. A huge chunk of this seems to be propaganda (to me anyway).

Thousands of Muslims under the umbrella of Muslim Brothers demonstrated against the ongoing Gaza attack by the Israeli army, describing the air strikes as sign of the end of the Zionist regime. The demonstrators, who gathered at the Fagge Central Mosque, raised the Palestine flag and shouted slogans in their support, condemning Israel, US and Europe.

Weekly Trust observed that the demonstrators condemned Arab regimes for standing aloof while their people are being killed, adding that the time has come for Muslims to unite against the deliberate aggression being perpetuated by the West with impunity.

Leader of the rally, Shiekh Muhammad Turi, described the Palestinian people as courageous and called on them to continue fighting until they are freed. “The world is with you against this cowardly act by the Zionist regime, but we have proved that we are stronger than before by your continued resistance, despite six days of aerial bombardment,” Shiekh Turi said.

He said the continued killing of women and children has shown that the world is full of hypocritical double standards.

He also described the event in Gaza as the “beginning of the end of the Zionist state, especially the growing ability of the resistance movement to withstand the aerial bombardment,” Sheikh Turi said, adding that with the failure of Israel to deal with Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon in 2002 and in 2006, the acclaimed invincibility of Israel has not only been disproven, “it has also been shown that the illegitimate nation will soon cease to exist,” he said.
