Bros, no mind the guy. He never attended UniBen, he is using it as a disguise for his land grabbing tendencies and his envy for the great Benin Empire.

The guy is typing trash. He never attended UniBen. Imagine the false statements he has been typing since.

How can he write that Esan and Bini speak the same language?

He also said Edo state has no major tribes when in actual fact Edo has 5 or 6 major tribes with distinct cultural traits and language.
Maybe he doesn't know that the Oba of Benin has no governing influence in Esan-land or Estako-land.

And does he also know that in Esan land for example, there are different dialects, e.g, an Irrua man can not easily flow with an Ubiaja man if they choose to speak their language, which is Esan?

The same applies across other tribes like the Bini, Igarra, Estako, fugar, and Owan. So what is he saying?

And the most annoying part is the fact that he is trying to re-write Historical fact that says the first colonial master to visit Africa were the portugese and the place they visited is the Benin empire in modern day Nigeria in 1472.

Very igbotic somebody with insufficient knowledge; very deceptive and a cunny liar, seasoned with tribal bigotry flowing in his bloodstream.

Please help me tell him that the Edos are not fighting over the ownership of Delta with his people, we are not in the colonial era.

He should kindly leave the Edo people out of it.

This is a Warri/Delta thread..........not Edo.
I come tire broda imagine he doesn't know the different between colonies and kingdoms/ I shouldn't be talking with him d guy dey fall uniben hand

Why do you challenge this?

The ancient benin empire even stretched to the river niger, covering several other tribes. It doesn't make the urhobos, ijaws, western igbos benin. The ancient British empire covered India, Africa, and Hong Kong but it doesn't make them British.
what am challenging is you telling me that bini language is predominantly spoken in benin instead of d pidgin dats not true at all and everybody knows

1472 , first european contact in Nigeria and it was the coasts of the Niger delta and lagos not Benin. Benin was 13 years behind when the coastal regions of which delta state is among have witnessed the first europeans.
Again the Europeans maintained their slave ports in the coastal regions not Benin. http://africanhistory.about.com/od/nigeria/l/bl-Nigeria-Timeline-1.htm

We know the ancient benin empire stretched to the west and even the east of Nigeria but that doesn't make the people of the coastal regions benin. undecided undecided undecided The Europeans came by water not flight or road so they cannot have appeared in benin first. Please see map of Nigeria. Beni and Esan languages are understandable to one another. And again in city of benin , bini is still the first language.
"That doesn't make them Benin" its just like you saying igbos are in Nigeria but dat doesn't make dem Nigerians cause Benin den was a kingdom and the Oba was the king so all his subjects were members of the kingdom and for your assertion that pidgin is not the popular language there, then i begin to doubt if you really stayed in Benin

I happened to graduate in Uniben, stayed in hall 3 in first year, ekosodi in second year and BDPA till schooling. Edo speaks their native language as their FIRST LANGUAGE.

The British don't break down English for anyone. You either speak it as they do or you adopt to how you understand it. Both the British and the Portuguese came by sea; Bini has no sea.

Again most tribes in Edo understand each other so they didn't need adopt pidgin English when they had to communicate with one another. Till today , they still speak their languages first before pidgin......and their pidgin is so heavy and less fluent with so many tribal accents making in road into it.

Delta on the other part has over 5 tribes who don't understand each other. Warri alone is indigenous to 3 tribes and it has an outlet to sea which made early Portuguese and British to domicile their.

So today, in Warri, even between people of same tribe, pidgin is the first language and the only language the 3 tribes of Ijaw, Itsekiri, Urhobo can communicate in.
what is this one saying? The first european to xplore in nigeria came to benin in 1485. In the 15th to 19th century the benin empire was dominant in nigeria its dominance reached eko later named lagos by the Portuguese itsekiri, ijaw and urhobo were part of d kingdom headed by Oba Eware the Great so I don't understand d sea port you are asking and for ur info Edo has more than five major tribes which include bini,Esan, owan, etsako and igarra and they don't understand each other I know for those that realy know benin will testify dat pidgin is the first and common language dere .am not sure uve crossed uselu its just school - hostel and mayb church

The Edo tribes are almost intelligible in language and have no direct sea to foreigners/Europeans. So how did you originated pidgin?

Your claims would have been ridiculous if it wasn't so sad and empty undecided
check your history the first europeans(Portuguese) to come to nigeria came to Benin kingdom pigin english was introduced by the british to break down the english language for the Obas and his chiefs to understand dats why its also called broken english but am not disputing the fact that waffarians modified the language after all we were togeda

It sounds good but mr president engineering in the country is grounded we engineers spend 5 or more years in the higher institution learning little or nothing i suggest that a scheme should be set up to train engineering graduate thoroughly outside the country thereby exposing them to contemporary technologies then bringing them back there will be no need to waste millions of dollars on so called expatriate .they get two heads.
