Alapereketu: Yes, your sister, at 34 years old, can absolutely apply for a Bachelor’s degree in Germany, regardless of having already completed a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Nigeria. German universities do not have upper age limits, and "non-traditional" students are common
1. Application Process (University Admission) Equivalency: Since she already has a Bachelor’s from Nigeria, she can likely apply directly to universities, but her qualification must be recognized as equivalent to a German university entrance qualification (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung). She should check this on the anabin database. Study Direction: It is highly advisable that the new Bachelor’s degree is in a different field or a significant specialization of her previous studies (e.g., changing from humanities to IT) to justify the need for a second, lower-level degree. Language Skills: Most Bachelor's programs are in German. She will likely need at least B2/C1 German proficiency (Goethe-Zertifikat/TestDaF).
2. Chances of Visa Approval The visa success rate for Germany is generally high (around 90–95%). However, for a 34-year-old with a Master's seeking a Bachelor's, the scrutiny will be higher than for a 22-year-old.
Factors that will impact her visa chances: Strong Motivation Letter (LOM): This is the most crucial document. She must convincingly explain why a German Bachelor’s degree is necessary for her career, why a Master's or PhD in Germany wasn't chosen, and how this specific program in Germany differs from her previous education. Study Gap: She must justify any gaps in her resume with work experience certificates. Financial Proof: She must prove she has sufficient funds (approx. €11,904 per year for 2026, usually in a blocked account). German Language: Demonstrating a commitment to learning German (A1-B1) significantly improves visa chances.
3. Key Challenges to Consider University Admission: The chosen program must not be "too similar" to her previous studies, or the university might reject the application for lack of "fresh motivation". Visa Rejection Risk: A high risk is the suspicion of "study hopping" or "seeking immigration" rather than education. If the Motivation Letter does not clearly explain the academic/professional necessity of this step, the visa may be rejected. Age and Health Insurance: Students over 30 cannot take advantage of cheap student public health insurance and will have to pay higher private insurance rates. Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. I really appreciate it. |

Hello all, I would like to inquire if my sister of 34 years can apply for a Bachelors degree in Germany and what will be her chances of getting a visa approval. Please note that she already has a Bachelor and Master degree in Nigeria. |

alexie49: Try to renew the passport before applying. Your Chances right now are slim. A close friend waited and he's regretting it NOW. You won't be given 1-year visa on that passport if it's Canada you are going to. But the UK does. Thank you very much |

Good evening guys, I applied for a one year program for Sept 2021 and my passport would be expiring December 2021. Would it be advisable to apply like that with the almost expiring passport or I should get a new passport before I apply for the visa. |

legionnaire: Let him book Cat A first. He should cancel the Cat B when he gets a date with Cat A. I think it's safer that way. That is exactly what I did but I am yet to get a date for category A thats why I asked. I guess I'll go with the master's admission using the bachelors appointment letter. Thanks guys for the advise, I really appreciate. |

Good evening guys,
I initially booked category B and I got date because I had just a bachelors admission and on the appointment letter it was boldly written BACHELORS on it. Now I have a masters admission letter and I would like to know if I can use the category B appointment letter for my masters interview. Would it pose an issue for me?
I anticipate your response guys, thanks in advance. |

Good day fam, please I need urgent help concerning my official transcripts from unilag. They made it clear they only send transcripts to post graduate schs within Nigeria. I've been thinking of every possible way to get it. Is there anyone from unilag that got his/her transcripts by hand, please how did you go about it. Please help me biko. |
Travel › Re: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 6 by Osunguy: 4:18pm On Mar 07, 2019 |
Deustchemann: Since your school has said they can only send directly to schools or companies, get a company where you know someone. Let your school send the transcript there. The person will pick it up for you. Make photocopies of it and certify them. Use it for your application. That should solve the transcript matter.
About your search for courses, ensure you comb daad.de very well. Expand your search content to other related courses too..
When you've done that, let me hint you on what I did after, Use Google to Search for the list of all universities in Germany. Wikipedia will open it for you. open their websites one after the other.
By the time you scrutinize the list from start to bottom, you'll find some additional courses you can apply for. It will take time oh, and data. But if this is too priority for you, nothing should debar you.
About other courses, so far it's Bachelors degree, you'll be fine. I know someone that studied microbiology in Nigeria here and he's doing logistics BSc in Germany. If you meet requirements, you'll definitely be admitted.
As Obiwannn said and I would love to adopt, "Winter is coming " Wish you success man. Thanks bros, really appreciate. |

Osunguy: Good evening fam, please I have some questions to ask that has being giving me serious concern.
I studied English Education from unilag, graduated with a rather low cgpa 2.7 German scale so I've decided to go for another B.Sc in Germany. I have my transcripts in pdf form which has unofficial copy is boldly written on it. Unilag has made it clear that they only send transcript to institution, universities and companies only. I would like to know if I can send the unofficial transcript to uni.assist and other universities I am applying to that do not use uni.assist, because sending each of my official transcripts to Germany cost 20k each.
Also, I've being trying to search for schools that offer either a B.A or B.Ed but so far it's only 3 I've come across that's free and solely teaches in English. Is it possible for me to apply for social sciences course like international relations, et all considering my first degree, can that hinder my admission into the school? I need answers guys, please help me. |

efueh: Did you indicate your Reference number on the faxed statement of result? If no, then it might be difficult for them to link the said document to your account. So, I advice you send another one, then do the following; - photocopy your result, - use biro to hand write your WES reference number on the photocopied result. - scan it and then use hellofax to send, using your reference number as the subject. I guess you will be fine with this, as they will acknowledge your document in 48hrs max. OK, I'll do all that. Thank you so much |

Osunguy: Good morning people. Please I have a question about Middle Tennessee state university. My CGPA is 2.68/5.0 and 2.98/4.0 with WES free calculator. I sent a mail to the grad cord of my course telling him I graduated with a 2.8/4.0 with WES evaluation and he told me I'm eligible to apply. I just read now that they accept unofficial transcript Buh after admission they can submit official WES transcript and the CGPA cut off is 2.75. My question is can I apply directly with my WES evaluated transcript, would it be accepted or I must apply with my unofficial transcript first. I have lost so many great schools because my rather low CGPA, it'd be so bad if MTSU is one of them. please help guys. Make una help my matter, abeg? |

One field any kind of school is good for is Healthcare/medical professions because no school name is needed to secure you a job.
