Nairaland GeneralCorporate Governance Explained For The Layperson: Insights From The Burna Boy by osworld1(op): 10:59am On Feb 11
Corporate Governance Explained for the Layperson: Insights from the Burna Boy Catalogue Acquisition and Pending Lawsuit
The ongoing lawsuit over Nigerian superstar Burna Boy’s early music catalogue illustrates how lapses in Corporate Governance can escalate into multimillion-dollar disputes, fraud allegations, and courtroom battles. The dispute stems from a 2024 transaction involving Burna Boy’s early catalogue with Aristokrat Music, his former label, which was allegedly sold to Spaceship Music, a label co-founded by Burna Boy and his mother, Bose Ogulu. this catalogue includes key master recordings of all works produced during his time at the aforementioned label. However, 960 Music Group, a minority shareholder with a 40% stake in Aristokrat, claims the sale was executed without its knowledge, consent, or required board approval, which is an outright violation of corporate governance obligations.

NOTE:: Being a minority shareholder with a 40% stake means you own a substantial portion of a company but do not have outright control. In corporate terms, “minority” simply means owning less than 50% of the voting shares. Even so, a 40% holding places you in a powerful position compared to smaller shareholders. In this instant case being discussed, in the sale of a music company or catalogue, a shareholder holding 40% is classified as a minority, but they are far from insignificant. “Minority” as explained supra means they do not own more than half of the company’s voting power. Still, at 40%, they sit in a position of real influence especially in high-value catalogue deals. They generally cannot force a sale on their own, nor can they automatically block one. Whether a catalogue can be sold depends on the company’s governance documents: shareholder agreements, voting thresholds, and any special “reserved matters.” In many music companies, selling a catalogue is considered a fundamental transaction and may require a supermajority vote. In those cases, their approval could be essential.

WHAT IS CORPORATE GOVERNANCE

Corporate governance might sound like a serious jargon, some complex word, a boring concept, some will see it as a technical term reserved for lawyers, boardrooms, and business school lectures. In reality, it’s woven into everyday business life. Every incorporated company whether a multinational or a small local venture must embrace corporate governance. This also extend to Even individuals engaging in business transactions because paying attention to this concept will be beneficial to them based on its principles.
What this mean in essence is that at its core, corporate governance ensures that companies operate fairly, transparently, and accountably. It empowers all stakeholders, and third party dealing with the company and especially minority shareholders, by protecting their interests and enforcing their rights.

For the layperson, put it simple corporate governance acts as a safeguard: it requires boards to act in the company’s long-term interest, mandates transparent decision-making, and prevents conflicts of interest or secretive deals. In Nigeria, these ideals are codified under the Nigerian Code of Corporate Governance (NCCG) 2018, which sets enforceable standards for corporate conduct.
Minority right and protection “Why Minority Protections Matters”

Minority protections ensure that non-controlling shareholders like 960 Music in this case are not sidelined, taken for granted, recluse in respect of their rights. That is they have rights to be informed, consulted on significant decisions, and where financial recuperation is involved they are entitled to such dividends in quantum to their shares, and where such fails they can validly seek remedies through the court through tools such as unfair prejudice petitions and derivative actions, enabling minorities to challenge oppressive conduct as provided in the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020.
Without these safeguards, majority controllers could strip value from a company, leaving minority investors powerless. In Aristokrat’s case, bypassing governance checks allegedly sidelined 960 Music despite its substantial stake. This directly implicates Principle 23 of the NCCG, which demands equitable treatment of shareholders. The protection and right embedded for the minority members demonstrates how minority protections empower affected parties to demand transparency and accountability. when properly utilized the result is as seen in this case possibly resulting to long litigation and some of the prayers can extends to nullifying the transaction and criminal probes into fiduciary breaches.

“You may now be wondering how this concerns you.”

Whether you’re investing in a local business, partnering in a venture, or simply following Nigeria’s booming creative economy, understanding corporate governance protects your interests. Before engaging with any company, it’s essential to look OUT for:

1. Clear board policies
2. Regular disclosures
3. Inclusive decision-making processes

in industries like music, where intellectual property drives royalties and cultural influence, weak corporate governance can exploit both artists and investors. Strong corporate governance builds trust, attracts better capital, and reduces scandals ultimately fostering fairer, more sustainable businesses.

In Conclusion

This article does not take sides or assign blame. The courts will determine the validity of the Burna Boy catalogue transaction. To the average man reading what matters for you is the understanding: that corporate governance is not abstract theory it is a practical shield that protects businesses, investors, and creative industries alike.

Nairaland GeneralOwnership Of Sound Recordings Under The Copyright Act 2022 by osworld1(op): 9:49pm On Jan 28
Ownership of Sound Recordings Under the Copyright Act 2022: Lessons from the Copyright Claim on Bimbo Ademoye’s "Where Love Lives"

Omaga Emmanuel, Esq.

The Copyright Act 2022 provides a comprehensive framework for protecting intellectual property, including sound recordings and their integration into cinematographic works such as movies. This legislation is crucial for producers and curators in the burgeoning Nollywood industry, where claims over music and sound elements in films are increasingly common. A recent example is the YouTube flagging of Bimbo Ademoye's movie Where Love Lives, released in December 2025, due to a copyright claim on a sound recording incorporated in the film. This case highlights the importance of understanding ownership rules to avoid such disruptions.

Key Provisions on Sound Recordings and Ownership of same in Movies

Pursuant to Section 2(1) of the Act, sound recordings are eligible for copyright protection as distinct works, alongside literary, musical, artistic, audiovisual works, and broadcasts. A "sound recording" is defined in Section 108 of the Act as a fixation of a sequence of sounds capable of being perceived aurally and reproduced, but crucially, it excludes any soundtrack accompanying or incorporated into an audiovisual work. This distinction is vital: standalone audio fixations, like a music track produced independently, qualify as sound recordings, but once integrated into a film, they fall under the umbrella of the audiovisual work's copyright.

Under the same Section 108 of the Act, Authorship and initial Ownership of a sound recording vest in the person who made the arrangements for its creation—typically the producer—unless otherwise stipulated by contract. For instance, suppose Mr. Ayo, a film producer, commissions Miss Ada to create an original sound recording for use in his upcoming movie. Once Miss Ada records the sound specifically for Mr. Ayo’s film, the copyright in that recording ordinarily vests in Mr. Ayo, as the commissioning party. In other words, Mr. Ayo owns the rights to the sound recording because it was produced under his direction and for his project.

However, if Mr. Ayo and Miss Ada execute a contract that expressly assigns or reserves ownership of the recording to Miss Ada, then she would retain the rights. In the absence of such an agreement, the default position is that the commissioned work belongs to Mr. Ayo.

Mr. Ayo, the owner of the sound recording, enjoys exclusive rights to control reproduction, distribution, rental, communication to the public, and adaptation without interreference and any attempt by Miss Ada to distribute or communicate to the public the sound recording without the express permission or authorization of Mr. Ayo amounts to an infringement on the copyright of Mr. Ayo to the said sound recording. See Sections 11 and 12 of Copyright Act.

On the other hand, when a pre-existing sound recording is incorporated into a film, the film's producer must obtain a license usually a non-exclusive license from the owner of the sound to avoid infringement. However, once integrated, the sound becomes part of the movie’s copyright, and separate claims on the isolated soundtrack may not succeed unless the use exceeds the licensed scope.

Relating to the movie “Where Love Lives”

In the case of Where Love Lives, produced by Nollywood star Bimbo Ademoye and starring Uzor Arukwe and others, YouTube demonetized the film after one Emmanuel Davies, filed a copyright claim alleging ownership of a song featured in the movie. Bimbo Ademoye contested this as a false and fraudulent claim, asserting that Emmanuel had pirated the content. The dispute was resolved in Bimbo’s favor, with YouTube lifting the strike.

This incident underscores the Copyright Act’s emphasis on proper licensing for sound elements in films. If the song was a pre-existing sound recording, Ademoye (as producer) would obtain a license from the owner of the said sound recording. The false claim disrupted monetization, illustrating how platforms like YouTube enforce copyright via automated systems, often requiring curators to establish ownership of their work. It also highlights the need for the execution of contracts to clearly stipulate rights between producers, composers, and performers, preventing such vulnerabilities.

In conclusion, the Nigerian Copyright Act promotes creator rights by vesting ownership in ‘arrangers’ while requiring licenses for incorporations. Cases like Where Love Lives serve as a reminder for filmmakers to secure all sound-related licenses upfront to safeguard their works in the digital age.

PoliticsMy Position On Call For Protest For The Release Of Nnamdi Kanu - Sunday Adebayo by osworld1(op): 4:42am On Oct 20, 2025
MY POSITION ON CALL FOR PROTEST FOR THE RELEASE OF NNAMDI KANU

The call for protest for the release of Nnamdi Kanu should not be pinned on Sowore, human right activists or any other Nigerians. It is birthed out of institutional, leadership and systemic failures. The call has become imperative and even those who don't share in his ideology and approach may be compelled to join the protest.

I give you three reasons for this;

Firstly, as an Abuja based practicing lawyer, i have suffered personal harassment by security outfits on many occasions on days Kanu is to be brought to Court for trial. Severally, roads have been blocked against me and other commuters and accessing Federal High Court, Abuja sometimes became impossible simply because a man is standing trial. My cases and that of other lawyers have been adjourned to further dates which have had negative effects on our clients who equally have right to justice. Even on days we would struggle to enter the Court, lawyers whose identity is glaring from their dresses, will be subjected to interrogation and several harassment under the guise of checks by police and DSS officers at the gate just because we want to access a public place (court) to represent our clients. This equally affects other residents who are going about their lawful business within the FCT as roads are either blocked or diverted thereby causing avoidable traffic without prior notice to the people.

The second reason is waste of National Resources. On every day Kanu is to be brought to Court, there are not less than one hundred police and DSS officers at work for his case. Not less than 50 operational vans will be fueled for mobility of these officers who will consequently mount road blocks at Transcorp junction, Abia House junction, Federal Secretariat, Federal Ministry of Justice, Three Arm zone among others. These are needless expenses and avoidable if Kanu is released and allowed to come for his case from home without any drama.

Lastly is the disobedience of court order. Irrespective of the circumstances and politics surrounding Nnamdi Kanu's case, there exists valid and subsisting court order for his release. We can't build a nation of solid integrity where constituted authorities have no regard for rule of law. Kanu's ideology and approach may not appeal to everyone just like me, but government institutions must demonstrate exemplary adherence to court orders. It is questionable for an authority who has continued to disobey court for Kanu's release to run to same court and obtain order to restrict protest for his release to certain areas.

Finally, this is a call on the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to live up to their constitutional duties as citizens assembles freely to demonstrate against perceived institutional injustice. It is within the right of citizens to protest and security agencies must not manipulate the movement to unleash brutality on the good people of Nigeria who will be on the street tomorrow to air their grievances against the system that has kept Kanu in detention for years.

PoliticsNo Authority Or Individual Has The Right To Revoke Your Title To Land Without Ju by osworld1(op): 3:11pm On Oct 06, 2025
NO AUTHORITY OR INDIVIDUAL HAS THE RIGHT TO REVOKE YOUR TITLE TO LAND WITHOUT JUST CAUSE

By Sunday Adebayo Esq.

Land by its peculiar nature is a durable and sustainable asset and a formidable channel of wealth creation. Perhaps, this underscores why land and boundary dispute is a common phenomenon in the real estate ecosystem as many strive daily to acquire land for several purposes.

As a general rule, ownership and title to land in Nigeria is not absolute. By virtue of Section 1 of the Land Use Act 1978 and Section 1(3) of the FCT Act 1976, ownership of all lands in each State of the federation is vested in the Governor of each state, while that of Federal Capital Territory is vested in the Government of the Federation and such Land shall be held in trust for the use and common benefit of all Nigerians. Additionally, all lands which immediately before the commencement of the Land use Act were vested in the Federal government shall continue to be so vested by virtue of section 49(1) of the Act.

From the foregoing, it is instructive to note that lands allocated by government to individuals or corporate entities are subject to certain terms and conditions guiding the use and ownership of the land. Often times, these terms and conditions are stated in the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) or other relevant title documents which include power to revoke the allocation upon breach or failure to comply with conditions attached thereto. (See Section 28(5) of the LUA).

However, revocation of title is neither a weapon of oppression nor an instrument for political vendetta. Every revocation of land must comply with due process of law, failure of which such revocation shall be set aside by a Court of competent jurisdiction.

It is never the intendment of the law that allottees and beneficial owners of land should not be allowed to enjoy dividends of their investments or be left in perpetual state of fear of revocation at will by the government. Hence, the procedure and requirements for a valid revocation of a right of occupancy must be construed fortissimo contra preferentes; that is, the provisions of the law on revocation must be compiled with strictly.

The Courts have consistently maintained that strict compliance with the provisions of the Land use Act is mandatory for any valid revocation of a right of occupancy. In the case of Goldmark Nigeria Limited v Ibafon Company Limited [2012]10 NWLR(Pt 1308), the Court held that “where a statute specifically provides for a particular way in which Government or any party can obtain or revoke title, parties must comply with the said procedure in acquisition or revocation". In other words, failure to comply with the strict provision of the law may render the entire process null and void.

By section 28(2) and (3) of LUA, title to land can only be revoked on account of overriding public interest or breach of any terms and conditions attached to the grant of allocation.

It imperative to also note that revocation cannot be justified in the eyes of the law if same was carried out for the purpose of reallocating the land to another private individual. In other words, the Governor of a State or FCT minister as the case maybe, cannot revoke any title belonging to any private person and grant same to another private individual or corporate body other than government-owned bodies. In Osho v Foreign Finance Corporation (1991) 4 NWLR (Pt. 184) 157, the Court emphasized that the governor has no right to revoke a statutory right of occupancy and grant same to a private person or for any other purpose other than those specified under section 28 of the LUA.

Oftentimes, estate developers find themselves embroiled in issues of revocation of title due to change of government administration or failure to develop land within the prescribed timeframe which always has negative resultant effects on innocent subscribers.

While, the latter reason maybe justified depending on the circumstances, the former is legally invalid and unjustifiable. A mere change of government is not a yardstick to revoke an allocation that was lawfully granted by the previous governor or FCT minister as the case may be.

Thus, where title to land is revoked merely on ground of political vendetta, vindictiveness or related twists, holders and owners of such land may approach the Court for remedy and such revocation is bound to be set aside.

Even when an allocation is to be revoked for other reasons such as inability to develop within timeframe, failure to pay necessary fees or breach of any terms, such revocation shall not be arbitrarily conducted. By section 28(6) and section 44 of the Land Use Act, the law requires that adequate notice be given to title holders to remedy the breach and failure to give such notice and accord them reasonable time and fair hearing, may equally invalidate the revocation. See the Supreme Court decision in Governor of Lagos State v Ojukwu (1986) 1 NWLR (Pt 18) 61 SC and AG Bendel State v Aideyan(1989) 4 NWLR (Pt. 118) 646., where the apex Court held that failure to observe these procedural safeguards may render the revocation illegal, regardless of the breach.

Furthermore, where title is revoked for overriding public interest with the exception of breach of terms and conditions contained in the certificate of occupancy, developers who have already made substantial investments in infrastructure, planning, or preliminary works on the land are entitled to claim compensation for unexhausted improvements pursuant to Section 29 of the Land Use Act.

In light of the foregoing, it is clear that while the Governor and FCT Minister have statutory powers under the extant laws to revoke title to land, such powers are not absolute and must be exercised strictly in accordance with the provisions of the Land Use Act.

It is safe to say the only legally recognized factor or ground upon which an allocation may be revoked is overriding public interest. Fortunately, the term public interest or purpose is equally defined in the Land Use Act and same cannot be subjected to arbitrary interpretation or application by any authority or individual.

Thus, where these statutory procedures are ignored, developers and landholders are entitled to enforce their rights in court and such revocations rest on shaky legal grounds that may be invalidated by the Court. Ultimately, the law on revocation of Land operates as a safeguard to ensure that neither political vendetta nor administrative arbitrariness deprives Nigerians of their title to land without just cause except where revocation becomes imperative in the interest of the general public.

Freedom of Expression and the Law of Defamation in Nigeria: A Legal Appraisal of the Double-edged sword

Sunday Adebayo, Esq.

In recent times, the media space has witnessed increasing cases of arrest, detention and prosecution of bloggers, content creators and social media users on account of their posts and contents published on social media platforms. Understandably, these arrests have attracted public scrutiny and debate. While many have tagged the act as oppression by highhanded complainants-mostly influential and government officials against their critics, others are of the opinion that freedom of speech should be exercised within the ambit of law and in due regards to the right of others.

Against this backdrop, it is imperative to conduct a legal appraisal of the double-edged sword of freedom of expression and law of defamation in Nigeria as well as the legal remedies for victims of defamatory publications and victims of unlawful detention over alleged defamatory related matters.

The concept of Freedom of expression and law of Defamation has been a subject of invariable debates in recent times, particularly as it relates to the frontier between the exercise of freedom of speech and defamation. While it is not in doubt that the Constitution guarantees the freedom of expression and empowers citizens to hold and share ideas as well as hold fair comments and criticism against private individuals and public officers, however, like Montesquieu stated, everything under the sun is governed by Law, human or divine. A delicate boundary exists between constructive criticism and reckless and baseless disparagement that may constitute defamatory statements actionable in law.

Freedom of speech and expression is one of the fundamental cornerstones of every democratic society. It is a right conferred on citizens and organizations within the democratic setting which empowers the people to express their opinions, share ideas and freely pass information without fear of censorship, bowdlerization and persecution by individuals or constituted authorities. Freedom of speech is essential for democracy as it marks the parting point between a democratic system and authoritarianism.

The Freedom of expression entails the right to hold and share opinion and it includes the right to express ideas through art, musical, gestures and other creative means as well as the right to assemble and protest peacefully. The right is so important that it has been codified in the Constitution of many Countries globally and has equally been accorded undivided attention in International treaties, protocols and charters. In Nigeria, the Constitution and Freedom of Information Act codifies the Freedom of Speech and Expression. Section 39 of the Constitution, provides thus;
‘Every person shall be entitled to freedom of expression, including freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impact ideas and information without interference’

Similarly, Article 9 of the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights guarantees the right to freedom of expression and information.

Although the right is exercisable against private individuals as well as public officers and institutions, the import of the right is essentially built towards ensuring that citizens are accorded unrestricted right to pass information, share opinions and hold constructive criticism, particularly about governance and individuals in position of authority in order to ensure accountability and good governance.

However, as significant and imperative as the right appears in a democratic society, caution must be applied in the exercise of the right to avoid unfounded and unjustifiable accusations that may infringe on the right of others and consequently result in legally redressable cases of defamation.

The concept of Defamation borders on any false information and unprivileged statement of fact published to a third party which lowers the estimation of a person and inflicts injury on his reputation in the eyes of right-thinking members of society. It is a deliberate circulation of false accusation against a person, company or their interests, published with fault or unlawful excuse and which discredits or damages the reputation of the person or company in the estimation of the general public.

Defamation may be slander or libel. It is slander when made in transient, transitory or audible form such as spoken words or gestures published to a third party without legal justification or lawful excuse. Libel on the other hand connotes defamatory statement made in permanent or documented form such as written form, photography and audio recording.

The Supreme Court in the case of Edem & Anor. v. Orpheo (Nig) Ltd. & Anor defined defamation as follows;
“Now a defamatory imputation consists of the publication to the third person or persons of any word or matter which tends to lower the person defamed in the estimation of right thinking members of society generally or to cut him off from society or to expose him to hatred, contempt or ridicule or to injure his reputation in his office, trade or profession or to injure his financial credit.”

This definition is apparently broad and all encompassing. However, it is imperative to note that it is not every negative word that constitutes defamation. A mere vulgar abuse especially in the heat of emotion, fight and argument may not necessarily constitute defamation. Similarly, it is not sufficient for the word to disparage an individual or lower his estimation in the eyes of a particular group of people or segment, it is necessary for such statement to have effect on right thinking members of the society generally. This is because what may constitute defamation to one segment or group may not be so to the general public.

In Nigeria, defamation may be civil or criminal depending on the State and jurisdiction. Although tortuous defamation is more popular and widely discussed, the concept remains a dual-nature offence that has both civil and criminal liabilities. This implies that individuals against whom a defamatory statement is made may personally institute an action before a court of competent jurisdiction, against the maker in tort for civil liability and claim retraction of the statement, public apology and monetary damages.

On the other hand, where the content of the defamatory statement contains an imputation of crime, a criminal action may be instituted against the maker pursuant to the relevant laws. In criminal defamation the law seeks to prevent provocative statements and gestures that may endanger public peace. The provisions of Penal Code and Criminal Code are explicit on this. Sections 375 of the Criminal Code Act and 391 of Penal Code Act provides that;

Section 375 of Criminal Code Act;
‘‘any person who publishes any defamatory statement matter is guilty of a misdemeanor and is liable to imprisonment for one; and any person who publishes any defamatory matter knowing it to be false, is liable to imprisonment for two years’’

Section 391 of Penal Code Act;
“whoever by words either spoken or reproduced by mechanical means or intended to be read or by signs or by visible representations makes or publishes any imputation concerning any person, intending to harm or knowing or having reason to believe that such imputation will harm the reputation of such person, is said, save in the cases hereinafter excepted, to defame that person”

From the definitions and the foregoing explanations, it is clear beyond peradventure that the right to freedom of speech is not absolute as the right must be evaluated at all times against the right of other citizens whose reputation and integrity should not be injured or exposed to ridicule in the eyes of right-thinking members of the society. The right is subject to certain limitations and qualifications as provided under the extant laws, the violation of which may render the maker liable for defamation.

The enactment of the Cybercrime Act has equally introduced another dimension to issues of defamation in Nigeria. Section 24 of Cybercrime Act (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015 (as amended 2024) summarily provides that;
any person who knowingly or intentionally sent or cause to be sent, any message or other matter by means of computer system or network or other related devices, which exposes a person to injury including cyber bulling, cyber-stocking or causes inconvenience, harassment or cause ill-will, commits an offence and shall be liable to a fine or imprisonment upon conviction.

The foregoing essentially summarizes the legal basis for challenging baseless accusations, offensive and provocative posts published on social media platforms or disseminated on the air through various broadcasting means. The defamer who made the original defamatory post as well as anyone who shares the post may be liable jointly and severally unless they could put up a legal defence or justification. The defamed whose reputation has been discredited by reason of the defamatory post is at liberty to sue in tort for civil liability or pursue a criminal charge against the defamer and may equally be entitled to pursue both civil and criminal suit concurrently depending on the fact and circumstances of each case.

Notwithstanding the wide blanket conferred on the defamed, it is imperative to note that defamation is not and should not be a weapon of oppression in the hands of complainants - mostly influential and powerful individuals, against innocent citizens whose voices they do not want to hear in the media. Particularly, criminal defamation should be invoked on rare occasions upon abundance of convincing and strong indictment capable of endangering public peace and particularly where there is an imputation of crime. A criminal case for defamation often results in arrest and detention of the alleged defamer even when his guilt has not been proven and when such persons have not been convicted by a court of competent jurisdiction.

This complex procedure often communicates a wrong impression of our justice system particularly where it involves an ordinary citizen against powerful and influential individuals and underscores why some states like Lagos State have decriminalized defamation.

Therefore, even when the authority of law enforcement agencies is invoked through petition over defamatory matters, caution must be exercised and parties should be adequately advised to seek legal remedy in Court especially when there is no element or imputation of crime.

The law is trite, law enforcement agencies are not legally empowered to interfere in civil disputes between private citizens. Any attempt to unjustly or unlawfully arrest and detain individuals under the guise of investigating an alleged defamatory statement may violate a constitutionally guaranteed right which is actionable in Court.

“A New Trend in Nigeria: Disruptive Passenger Behaviour Towards the Aviation Sector”
By Olajengbesi Olajengbesi Samuel OS

Introduction

In Nigeria, one of our defining social characteristics is the ability to create and follow trends—whether beneficial or harmful—without first establishing clear boundaries as to their propriety. All it often takes is a precedent, and a significant portion of the public will follow suit, regardless of its legality or morality. This tendency has recently manifested in troubling events at our airports, where unlawful conduct by passengers has not only breached aviation safety protocols but has also caused public embarrassment and operational disruption.

In one case, a passenger refused to vacate the front of an aircraft, thereby preventing its take-off. In another, a passenger’s refusal to switch off a mobile device escalated into a physical altercation with cabin crew and even extended to an attempt to tamper with critical safety equipment. These are not trivial inconveniences; it’s sad and improper

As citizens of this country, we must understand that there are lawful channels for expressing grievances and that no individual is above the law. While it may be argued that in some cases and even in this recent cases the crew or pilots could have handled situations more tactfully, the fact remains that these incidents could have been completely avoided through simple obedience to lawful instructions and civil communication of disagreements.

It must be emphasised that Nigeria’s aviation sector is governed by a stringent legal and regulatory framework designed to safeguard safety, order, and operational integrity. The Civil Aviation Act 2022 confers on the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) as the exclusive regulatory control over civil aviation operations, and m criminalises any act endangering the safety of an aircraft, disobedient to crew members or interference with their performance of their duty or any act that can possibly endanger the aircraft or passengers see (Sec 84 abd 85 of the act ) furthermore the Criminal Code Act applies—criminalising obstruction of aircraft (Section 459A)
Also The Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) 2023 reinforce this by expressly prohibiting unruly behaviour, disobedience to crew instructions and interference with safety equipment
Where such conduct also constitutes a general criminal offence,, assault (Sections 252–253), and threats of violence (Section 86).

While we have so many people of influence in Nigeria whose influence spans in Nigeria and oversees the same obedience to foreign laws are not applied to that of Nigeria. It’s Unfortunate that many Nigerians misuse perceived social influence or “connections” to obstruct lawful processes, believing themselves to be above the law. It often takes one high-profile prosecution to serve as a deterrent—a principle reminiscent of the recent legal troubles of a well-known BobRisky

From the foregoing I will conclude that If the individuals involved in these recent events are not prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, the next offenders may feel emboldened, potentially leading to even graver consequences. The responsibility lies with both the authorities and the people to ensure that our aviation sector remains safe, disciplined, and respected.

Nairaland GeneralRegulations On Tinted Vehicle Glass In Nigeria By Olajengbesi Samuel Os by osworld1(op): 9:41pm On Aug 04, 2025
Recent reports circulating online indicate that, effective August 12, 2025, The Nigeria Police force will begin full enforcement of regulations concerning the use of tinted glass in vehicles—whether factory-fitted or after-market installations. In compliance with applicable law, all such vehicles must possess a valid tinted glass permit issued by the Nigeria Police Force.
With only two exceptions to this law First is on the grounds of security reasons and the second is medical reasons

Failure to comply may result in the impoundment of the vehicle, with the owner and/or driver subject to criminal prosecution or monetary penalties.

THIS ENFORCEMENT IS GROUNDED IN MOTOR VEHICLE (PROHIBITION OF TINTED GLASS) ACT 1991
Section 1 of the act states that:
“Except with the permission of the appropriate authority designated for the purposes of this Act and for such good cause as may be determined from time to time by the appropriate authority, no person shall cause any glass fitted on a motor vehicle to be tinted; or shaded; or coloured lightly or thickly; or darkened; or treated in any other way, so that the persons or objects in the motor vehicle are rendered obscure or invisible”.

The law states in section 3 of the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act that anyone who imports a vehicle with tinted glasses into the country is allowed to change the glasses within a period of ninety days.

Section 4(1) provides; Any person who commits an offence under this Act shall on
conviction be liable to a fine of N2,OOO or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both such fine and imprisonment.

Also

Section 66(2) of the National Road Traffic Regulations (NRTR), 2012, which mandates that all vehicle windows must be clear and transparent, unless an exemption is expressly granted by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) for verifiable security or medical reasons.

I strongly encourage all vehicle owners and drivers to take the necessary steps to comply with the relevant regulations. If your vehicle is fitted with tinted glass, please ensure you obtain the appropriate permit either online or by visiting the nearest police station. It is always better to remain compliant than to face avoidable legal consequences or public embarrassment

Violence Erupts in Ilawe-Ekiti: Community in Crisis

Yesterday, July 10, 2025, the peaceful town of Ilawe-Ekiti was plunged into chaos as policemen from the RRS division descended upon the Irorin Quarters, unleashing unprovoked violence on residents. The police action, allegedly aimed at sustaining the harassment of the Obaru Adimula, a revered deity priest, has left a trail of destruction and terror in its wake.

Background to the Crisis

The Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti, the monarch of the town, has been embroiled in a long-standing dispute with the Obaru Adimula, having dragged him to court multiple times over the past eight years to challenge his traditional authority. Despite court rulings affirming the Obaru Adimula's authority, the Alawe has continued to disregard the rulings, sparking concerns about his commitment to the rule of law.

The Incident

Eyewitnesses report that the policemen, armed and in large numbers, arrived in the Irorin Quarters, firing guns uncontrollably, shooting tear gas, and destroying property. Residents, including innocent bystanders, were indiscriminately arrested, and their businesses disrupted. The police action has been widely condemned as excessive and unwarranted.

Official Actions

Attached is the official petition written to the National Security Adviser (NSA), Department of Security Service, and through the Inspector General of Police, which has received a timely response from the Inspector General of Police, mandating the Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State to deal with the matter of contempt of court.

Call to Action

We, the peace-loving residents of Ilawe-Ekiti, cry out to all authorities, traditional and governmental, to intervene immediately to restore peace and order in our community. We demand:
- An end to the Alawe's reign of terror and harassment of the Obaru Adimula
- Respect for court rulings and the rule of law
- Protection of citizens' rights and property
- Dialogue and negotiation to resolve disputes

We urge the Inspector General of Police, the Ekiti State Government, and other relevant authorities to take immediate action to address this crisis and prevent further escalation.

Signed

Nairaland GeneralSave Our Soul (s.o.s.) Appeal To Preserve Peace And Justice In Ilawe-ekiti by osworld1(op): 7:55am On May 30, 2025
SAVE OUR SOUL (S.O.S.) APPEAL TO PRESERVE PEACE AND JUSTICE IN ILAWE-EKITI
On Behalf of the Ororin of Irorin and the Custodians of Ancient Traditions

We, the AfroCaribbean Chamber of Culture and Tourism, in our capacity as advocates for the preservation of African heritage and traditional systems, are compelled to raise an urgent Save Our Soul appeal concerning the deeply troubling developments in Ilawe-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria.

Our attention has been drawn to ongoing acts of intimidation, victimization, and blatant contempt of court allegedly perpetrated against the Ororin of Irorin, one of the ancient and revered traditional figures of the land. These actions, believed to be instigated by the monarch of Ilawe-Ekiti, represent not only an assault on the person of the Ororin but a dangerous affront to the peaceful coexistence, ancestral protocols, and judicial integrity of the community.

Despite ongoing legal proceedings and standing traditional arrangements that have governed succession and coexistence for generations, there appears to be a calculated attempt to override lawful processes, disrupt harmony, and rewrite cultural order for personal gain. This is not only unlawful—it is an attempt at cultural anarchy.

It is essential to understand that the traditional institutions of Nigeria are not merely ceremonial—they are the living soul of our people. Their desecration undermines the social fabric and calls into question our collective respect for rule of law, justice, and historical continuity.

We therefore make this urgent appeal to:

The Executive Governor of Ekiti State,
The Attorney General of the Federation,
The Inspector General of Police,
The National Council of Traditional Rulers,
The Federal Ministry of Culture and Tourism,
Civil society and the international cultural community,
to intervene immediately in the matter and halt any further harassment of the Ororin of Irorin. We call for the strict enforcement of court orders, a return to due process, and the restoration of respect for traditional hierarchies that have ensured peace and dignity for generations.

We emphasize that peace cannot thrive where justice is ignored, and culture cannot flourish where tradition is trampled.

As stakeholders in Africa’s cultural legacy and champions of intergenerational heritage, we call on all well-meaning [/b]Nigerians and diaspora partners to stand with the truth and uphold the enduring values of justice, peace, and respect for tradition.

Let us act now—before this situation escalates into crisis.
Let the voice of culture not be silenced by the noise of conflict.

Signed,
On behalf of the President, AfroCaribbean Chamber of Culture and Tourism
And the Immediate Past Head of Culture and Tourism, African Union ECOSOCC

Nairaland GeneralOlajengbesi OS 2024 Reflections by osworld1(op): 7:58pm On Dec 31, 2024
As I reflect on 2024, I am filled with immense gratitude for the transformation and growth this year has brought. This year has been one of lessons learned, battles fought, and a deeper understanding of my purpose. The phrase “Not where I wanna be, but not where I was” truly encapsulates this year’s journey—a year of progress, but also one filled with challenges that have pushed me beyond my limits. Looking back, I am proud of how far I’ve come, but I also know there is still so much more to achieve.

A Year of Transformation

One of the most rewarding experiences this year was my role in overseeing the Adeleke University Law Clinic. Managing the clinic’s activities, guiding volunteers, and helping provide legal aid to those in need was an eye-opening experience. It taught me not only about the legal profession but also about leadership—how to inspire, support, and empower others while maintaining compassion and responsibility. I’m grateful to everyone involved for helping me grow in this capacity and for making a real impact on the community.

My Business and Blog

Managing my business and blog has been another defining aspect of 2024. What started as a passion project in 2017 has grown into something much larger—an essential platform for professional reflection, advocacy, and business development. Writing regularly has allowed me to process my emotions, document my growth, and engage with a community of like-minded individuals. I’ve experimented with different types of content and received feedback that has been incredibly encouraging. It reminds me that writing, can be a bridge that connects us to others and offers insight. Thank you to everyone who’s supported the blog and engaged with the content—it has been an incredibly rewarding journey.

Managing Artists

Managing artists has also been a major focus this year. The music industry is complex—where talent, passion, and business all intersect. Managing artists has been more than just handling contracts and bookings; it’s about understanding their vision, supporting their personal growth, and helping them thrive creatively. I’ve had the privilege of working with incredibly talented individuals, and watching them move closer to their goals has been one of the most fulfilling parts of 2024. To all the artists I’ve had the honor of working with—thank you for your trust and for letting me be a part of your journey. Together, we’ve achieved more than I could have imagined.

My Music Distribution Company

2024 also marked a major milestone for my music distribution company. We’ve managed to distribute, protect, and remunerate countless artists, achieving a 95% success rate for our clients. This year taught me the importance of persistence and adaptability. There were moments when things didn’t go as planned, but every obstacle turned into a learning opportunity. Although the growth of my company has been modest, I’ve seen firsthand how hard work and strategic planning can pay off. I’m excited to continue growing in 2025 with you and I couldn’t have done it without the support of everyone involved, from the artists to the team behind the scenes.

My Spiritual Journey and Relationships

Perhaps the most profound aspect of 2024 has been my quest to grow closer to God. Spiritual growth has been central to my life this year. There have been moments of doubt, when I’ve questioned my path and purpose, but through prayer, meditation, and reflection, I’ve found peace and clarity. This journey is ongoing, and I am grateful for the strength it has given me.

On a personal level, relationships—both personal and professional—have played a significant role in my growth. I’ve learned so much about myself through my interactions with family, friends, and colleagues. 2024 wasn’t without its challenges—misunderstandings, difficult conversations, and moments of tension—but through it all, your unwavering support has been a constant source of strength. To my family, thank you for always standing by me, offering love, encouragement, and wisdom. Your support has kept me grounded in the toughest moments.

Completing My Book

One of the most exciting milestones this year was the completion of my new book, 21 Commandments of the Music Industry. Writing this book has been a labor of love, years in the making, and holding the finished product in my hands felt like a huge achievement. The process wasn’t easy, but every challenge along the way was worth it. This book represents not only my thoughts and experiences but also the culmination of years of hard work, struggles, and triumphs. It is a reflection of who I am today, and I am excited to share it with you all.

Subject: Why Every Artist Should Be on YouTube VEVO – A Missed Opportunity for Many Musicians

Hello,

Happy November! As we embrace the excitement of this new month in 2024, I want to address an overlooked opportunity that could dramatically boost the success of many artists: ‘YouTube VEVO’ Through my research work with musicians across genres, I’ve noticed that many artists especially the independent and emerging artists are unaware of the potential VEVO offers. This platform can be a powerful tool to expand your reach, enhance visibility, and grow your fanbase. Today, I’d like to highlight why VEVO should be on every artist’s radar, regardless of their musical style.

The Power of YouTube VEVO

Countless artists pour substantial resources into creating top-notch music and videos, yet they miss out on the advantages a VEVO channel offers. VEVO is not just another video platform—it’s a high-caliber distribution partner with YouTube, specifically designed to amplify your music’s reach and presence.

VEVO serves as a trusted home for high-quality music videos from leading labels, established independent artists, and emerging talents. By joining VEVO, your content doesn’t simply get uploaded—it becomes part of an exclusive catalog that adds professionalism and visibility to your brand. Unfortunately, too many artists overlook this opportunity.

Why Choose VEVO?

VEVO provides several unique benefits that can elevate your career:

1. Enhanced Credibility: VEVO is synonymous with premium music content, associating your work with a standard of excellence. A VEVO channel differentiates you from other creators, showcasing your commitment to quality and professionalism.
2. Increased Visibility and Reach: VEVO’s strategic algorithms and close partnership with YouTube improve the discoverability of VEVO videos. Additionally, VEVO maintains strong connections with platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and others, enhancing your visibility across major digital channels.
3. Improved Monetization: While a regular YouTube channel offers some monetization, VEVO’s ad options provide higher earning potential. VEVO’s targeted ad placements and higher CPM rates mean artists can benefit from more robust ad revenue.
4. Professional Support and Analytics: VEVO offers dedicated support in content management and distribution, along with access to detailed audience analytics. This insight allows you to refine your marketing strategies, better engage your audience, and strengthen your presence.

How to Join VEVO

Starting a VEVO channel requires a bit more than setting up a traditional YouTube account. VEVO works with select distributors, often requiring artists to collaborate with these channels or labels. While this process might seem challenging, it’s well worth it.

In Conclusion: Don’t Limit Your Reach

Your talent deserves to reach a wider audience, and VEVO can be an important tool in achieving that. No matter your genre—whether Gospel, R&B, hip-hop, or beyond—VEVO offers unmatched visibility, credibility, and income potential.

Let’s make this month the start of an elevated approach to your music

Here’s to growth, new fans, and a lasting impact in the music industry!

Warm regards,

Nairaland GeneralFunmilayo Ransom-kuti My Thoughts On The Movie And Her Reverend Ransome-kuti by osworld1(op): 11:42am On Jun 22, 2024
Feeling a bit down lately, I decided to take a break from work and dive into some movies.

I stumbled upon the biopic of Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti on @primevideo, and it captivated me so much that I wished it were a series!

Iyinmide Ayo-Olumoko played the younger Funmilayo Kuti, while Kehinde Bankole portrayed her in adulthood, and the veteran Joke Silva played her in later life. These three professionals' portrayals of Funmilayo Kuti across different stages of her life are nothing short of outstanding. Their powerful renditions and top-notch acting bring to life the incredible story of this trailblazing political activist and women's rights advocate. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it!

However, it's the unsung heroism of her husband, Reverend Israel Oludotun Ransome-Kuti, that truly stands out.

Reverend Ransome-Kuti's unwavering support for Funmilayo, despite facing adversity, exemplifies true partnership. His courage in supporting his wife in fighting against a male-dominated society, balancing activism with family, and embracing mutual respect in their marriage offers valuable lessons for men today. The husband, even when he was sick, kept it away from her so she wouldn’t get distracted, and that’s a big sacrifice to be made. He truly wanted his wife to succeed.

Remarkably, he never viewed her success as a threat. Instead, he celebrated her strengths, never competing or overshadowing her. This selflessness reminds us that true love supports and uplifts.

As the Bible commands, let us love our wives with selflessness and encouragement. Reverend Ransome-Kuti's legacy shows that true partnership isn't about seeking the limelight but being a steadfast rock for our partners, even when no one is watching. His example is a powerful reminder that a supportive partner can be the greatest catalyst for change.

Nairaland GeneralTalent & Fame ‘talent Over Hype: Separating True Artistry From Mere Popularity I by osworld1(op): 11:53am On May 21, 2024
INDUSTRY SERMONET
Topic:: Talent & Fame ‘Talent Over Hype: Separating True Artistry from Mere Popularity in the Music Industry’

As someone deeply ingrained in the music industry as an A&R expert, I wholeheartedly endorse the notion that "Popularity isn't synonymous with talent, but it can certainly accentuate it."

In the contemporary music landscape, which often prioritizes speed and surface appeal, it's easy to conflate fame with genuine skill. Nonetheless, it's imperative for industry insiders like us to discern between the two, giving precedence to authentic talent over mere notoriety.

Certainly, popularity can serve as a powerful amplifier for talent, offering artists a broader platform to showcase their abilities and opening doors to new collaborations and opportunities. However, it's crucial to acknowledge that popularity doesn't always reflect true talent.

Numerous factors, such as marketing strategies, branding, and social media presence, can contribute to an artist's popularity, sometimes overshadowing their musical prowess.

In today's digital era, fame can be transient, often favoring style over substance. This is evident in the emergence of social media influencers and reality TV personalities who may lack tangible talent yet boast a substantial following. While this may benefit their personal brand, it can dilute the essence of the music industry.

As A&R representatives, our duty is to identify and nurture genuine talent rather than chasing after fleeting popularity. We must delve beneath the surface and emphasize an artist's creativity, skill, and commitment.

Critical questions must be asked: Does this artist possess a distinctive voice and perspective? Do they demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship and proficiency? Are they pushing the boundaries of their genre and contributing something novel to the music landscape?

By prioritizing authentic talent over popularity, we can elevate the integrity of the music industry and ensure that deserving artists receive due recognition. We must resist the allure of social media noise and transient trends, staying true to our mission of discovering and nurturing exceptional talent.

In essence, while popularity can enhance talent, it's essential to distinguish between the two and prioritize genuine talent over superficial acclaim. By doing so, we contribute to fostering a music industry that values substance over style and rewards true creativity.

This is not just my mission; it's my belief and principle. Here's to uplifting as many talents as possible. Cheers!

Nairaland GeneralAn Overview Of The Scope, Implications And Criticisms Of CBN 0.5 Cybersecurity by osworld1(op): 9:36pm On May 07, 2024
Following the announcement of the new CBN 0.5% cybersecurity levy, many of my friends contacted me to understand its implications, effects, and potential criticisms. In response, I have conducted a thorough analysis of this policy, providing an overview of its scope, features, benefits, and criticisms, to help clarify the intricacies of this initiative

The introduction of the Cybersecurity Levy in Nigeria has significant implications and positive effects on the country.

Following the enactment of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) (amendment) Act 2024 and under the provision of Section 44 (2)(a) of the Act, a levy of 0.5 per cent (0.005) equivalent to a half per cent of all electronic transactions value by the business specified in the Second Schedule of the Act, is to be remitted to the National Cybersecurity Fund which shall be administered by the Office of the National Security Adviser,” the circular stated.

This is crucial initiative aimed at safeguarding Nigeria’s digital landscape. In an increasingly interconnected world, the threat of cyber attacks and data breaches has become a pressing concern. To address this challenge, the Nigerian government has introduced a 0.5% tax on electronic transactions, which will fund the country’s national cybersecurity infrastructure

Many dont know that This policy, has been in place since 2015 although just like the cultural Nigeria setting implementation and enforcement s always a challenge for us.

This proactive measure seeks to protect the nation’s financial sector, critical infrastructure, and online presence from the ever-evolving threat of cybercrime. By implementing the Cybersecurity Levy, Nigeria is taking a vital step towards ensuring the stability of its currency, preventing massive financial losses, and securing a safer digital future for its citizens.

calculation formula of the rate is the amount to be transferred multiplied by 0.5 and then divided by 100. The result is what will be charged as the cybersecurity levy on that transaction.

The levy of 0.5% on electronic transactions may seem insignificant, but its impact will be substantial.

Firstly, the Cybersecurity Levy will help prevent massive financial losses like the present case of $25 billion siphoned by Binance in just one year. This amount could be said to represent 6% of Nigeria’s GDP, and this loss definitely has severe consequences on our dear country’s economy and our citizens’ purchasing power.

Secondly, it’s expected that the levy will ensure the stability of the Naira. A stable currency is essential for economic growth and development. By securing the Naira from foreign and domestic threats, the Cybersecurity Levy will contribute to economic stability and reduce the risk of financial crises. Perhaps we might be saved from the everyday price skyrocketing or perhaps reducing such.

Thirdly, the levy will support the protection of Nigeria’s critical infrastructure, including military, industrial, financial, communications, and governmental online presence. This will safeguard the country’s security and integrity, preventing potential threats from cybercriminals and hostile nations.

Fourthly, the Cybersecurity Levy will fund the Office of the National Security Adviser’s efforts to develop a solid and dedicated team focused on cybersecurity. This team will work tirelessly to identify and mitigate potential threats, ensuring Nigeria’s online presence remains secure.

it’s important to note that not all transactions are affected by the levy. CBN highlighted 16 banking transactions that are exempted from the CBN’s new cybersecurity levy including Loan disbursements repayments and Salary payments, among others. Transactions such as Social welfare schemes, charitable donations, tuition payments, salaries, loans, and intra-bank transfers are exempt, ensuring that essential transactions are not burdened by the levy.

There are three general criticisms which represent the most significant concerns about the Cybersecurity Levy, highlighting potential issues with its impact on citizens, transparency, and efficiency this criticism covers

1. Additional Financial Burden: The 0.5% levy on electronic transactions may be seen as an additional financial burden on individuals and businesses, especially in a country with a high poverty rate like Nigeria.

2. Lack of Transparency: Critics may question how the funds collected from the levy will be utilized, managed, and allocated, potentially leading to concerns about corruption and mismanagement.

3. Inefficient Taxation: Some may argue that the levy is an inefficient way to tax citizens, as it targets a specific aspect of economic activity (electronic transactions) rather than broader income or consumption.

In conclusion, the Cybersecurity Levy is a necessary measure to protect Nigeria’s economy, currency, and online presence. While it may seem like an additional burden, the long-term benefits far outweigh the costs. By paying a small percentage of our transactions, we can ensure a stable and secure financial environment, preventing significant losses and promoting economic growth

Nairaland GeneralExploring The Implications Of An Iran-israel Conflict On International Law And N by osworld1(op): 10:29am On Apr 14, 2024
Exploring the Implications of an Iran-Israel Conflict on International Law and Nigeria’s Potential Role”

Today I find myself contemplating the complex and potentially volatile situation between Iran, Israel, and the possibility of influencing contribution of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Russia. The potential for conflict between these nations, and the ensuing possibility of a third world war, is sobering. I can only hope that this scenario remains hypothetical and that peace prevails. My thoughts turn to my own country of Nigeria and the role it might play in this potential conflict. How would we be affected? How could we respond? These are questions I hope never need to be answered. As I hope we do not experience war in the world.

Although I was not present during the First and Second World Wars, history has inscribed its effects on a solid rock, and all we can do is hope and pray that this does not happen again. Biblically, Christians will see it as an indicator of the second coming.
As an international law student, the consequences for international law, global alliances, and international organizations would be significant. considering the prospective participation of the United States and the United Kingdom, potential involvement under NATO treaties, and Russia's position.

Impact on International Law

A declaration of war by Iran on Israel has immediately raised various international law issues, including the validity of the declaration and any future military measures. This is the foundation for this war, which has existed since the struggle between Russia and Ukraine, Israel and Pakistan.
The United Nations Charter usually prohibits the use of force against any state's territorial integrity or political independence, save in instances of self-defense or as authorized by the UN Security Council. As a result, Iran's activities may be considered a violation of international law, prompting the international community to impose sanctions or take other steps.

The likelihood of a dispute growing into a worldwide war is heavily influenced by the reactions of major nations and their allies. While a direct clash between large powers such as the United States and Russia is extremely unlikely because to the catastrophic risks involved, a series of alliances and treaties might exacerbate the situation, leading to a broader regional or perhaps global battle.

NATO's Article commitment to collective defense requires members to protect one another in the event of an attack on any member in Europe or North America. Because Israel is not a NATO member, NATO is not automatically involved. Individual NATO members with strategic links with Israel, particularly the United States and the United Kingdom, may feel forced to help Israel individually or through coalitions.

It is an open secret that the United States and the United Kingdom have traditionally been significant supporters of Israel and may provide various sorts of assistance, such as military, economic, or logistical. However, their role would most likely be determined by the precise circumstances, their national interests, and the overall world response. Another tricky element is whether Russia will help Iran if the United States intervenes. Russia and Iran have shared interests in a number of regional conflicts, as well as a strategic cooperation that might lead to Russia providing Iran with economic, political, or military help. However, actual military action by Russia on Iran's behalf would be contingent on a number of conditions, including Russia's own geopolitical calculations and partnerships with other world powers.
Thus, the conflict would have a tremendous influence on international organizations.

United Nations: The UN Security Council would become a key diplomatic forum, with efforts to approve resolutions condemning the aggression, calling for ceasefires, or imposing penalties. The UN's effectiveness would be determined by the positions of veto-power countries, such as Russia and China.• The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) can monitor and enforce nuclear non-proliferation principles if the conflict involves Iran's nuclear program.

Nigeria's possible involvement

Nigeria's role will be heavily impacted by its foreign policy aims, regional relationships, and international obligations:
Nigeria has always maintained a policy of non-alignment in wars involving faraway countries, unless there are major regional or African Union stances on the issue. Nigeria's response might primarily be diplomatic, lobbying for peace and mediation through international institutions such as the United Nations and the African Union.
Nigeria's participation may also be influenced by its economic and political ties with the countries concerned. Given that Nigeria traditionally has limited bilateral contacts with both Iran and Israel, it may choose to remain neutral unless its interests are directly damaged.

If the situation escalates to include broader international security concerns, Nigeria may participate in discussions and actions through multilateral organisations. Nigeria's participation in organizations such as the United Nations or the Non-Aligned Movement may be critical in shaping and responding to international consensus or censure.
And when possible Depending on the scope of the conflict and the resulting humanitarian problems, Nigeria may assist in international relief efforts or peacekeeping operations, particularly if required by the UN.

In conclusion.
Overall, Iran's declaration of war on Israel comprises complicated layers of international law, alliances, and strategic objectives. To avoid escalation, emphasize diplomatic solutions, and sustain international peace and security, the global community must negotiate these difficulties with caution. The engagement of major nations would be influenced by legal considerations, national interests, and the actions of other international actors, making the situation extremely volatile and unpredictable.

Nairaland GeneralBobrisky's Legal Troubles: Warning To Musicians, Celebrities, And Anyone Who Spr by osworld1(op): 11:00am On Apr 04, 2024
Bobrisky's Legal Troubles: Warning to musicians, celebrities, and anyone who spray money at parties and events.

In a recent incident that has piqued the public's interest, Bobrisky, a controversial Nigerian social media figure and cross-dresser, faces the threat of imprisonment. For the alleged mutilation and abuse of Nigerian currency in violation of Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act of 2007.
This serves as a reminder of Nigeria's rigorous currency handling regulations.

The legal provision at the heart of this issue is Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act of 2007. Which specifically criminalizes tampering with or mutilating Nigerian cash and imposes severe penalties on those found guilty. The act went on to specify that anyone guilty of such an infraction face a minimum of six years in jail.

These incidents should serve as a strong warning to public personalities and the general public about the necessity of following national laws, particularly those that are not commonly understood or published. It highlights the need for better knowledge and education about the legal duties that come with managing the national currency.

This incident teaches a valuable lesson to singers, celebrities, and anyone who engage in the cultural tradition of spraying money at parties and events, which is prevalent in Nigeria, particularly among Yoruba and Igbos who enjoy life and parties. While this custom is strongly ingrained and valued as a form of generosity and wealth display, participants must be aware of the legal restrictions on the usage of currency. Spraying money in a way that disrespects or damages the currency might unintentionally lead to legal problems, as seen by Bobrisky's situation.

In light of these developments, public figures and the general public should educate themselves on the applicable legal laws governing currency management. Understanding the law can help to prevent unintended breaches and guarantee that cultural activities are carried out legally. Furthermore, it may be prudent for individuals to consider alternative means of demonstrating kindness or celebrating that do not include legal ramifications.

As Bobrisky's case progresses, it serves as a cautionary tale, reminding everyone to be cautious and respectful of the law in all their actions, particularly those affecting the national money. It is a demand to strike a balance between tradition and legal requirements, ensuring that cultural expressions do not result in unexpected legal implications.
