Politics › Re: Buhari Slashes Federal University Staff Salaries By Half by otokx(m): 9:30am On Mar 05, 2016 |
CzarChris: Universities like UNIPORT, UNIBEN and a few older generation universities make up the personnel subventions with IGR generated by such institutions, but younger institutions are having a hard time making up the short falls from government. Schools like Unillorin, Umudike, etc found it difficult to pay last month's salaries I don't know how they will make up for February. Federal Polytechnics Nekede actually cut theirs since January.
So bro consider yourself lucky to be in your institution. Bros Me There is no shortfall from Federal Government. You people have been earning illegal allowances all this while. UNIPORT and others that choose to do the right thing are now reaping the benefits. The IGR of UNIPORT is not used to augment staff salaries but to build infrastructure and upgrade the academic standard/processes. What you guys are getting now is what you ought to have got in times past. We used to wonder at UNIPORT why people in the same level in other universities/research institutes are getting more but now we know why. In saner climes there ought to be a refund of such monies. |

kahal29: I think its only peculiar to uniuyo. Don't know the reason anyway but the staff their are complaining bitterly. There are some illegal allowances which were paid in the past by university mgt, staff that have been receiving these allowances are the ones complaining now. That is why some unions are asking for exemption from TSA but FG is saying no way. |

Waste of time, the private depots are the ones with petrol and are selling it to marketers at about 110 per litre so this makes the price to be 125 per litre in Port Harcourt. |

funkyibodude: True, just confirmed it from a friend that lectures at polytechnic Nekede, he said that his salary was reduced by 50k.. That is change for you Your friend should ask his rector why the salary is reduced by 50k; he is probably a Yam beneficiary earning the illegal allowances. |

CzarChris: Very true, even some professors that came back from foreign universities to lecture in the university where I work are all threatening to go back.
And someone will be complaining of "capital flight". I just don't understand why this government doesn't take the education sector serious. Call the name of your university; we received full salary in UNIPORT. |

Politics › Re: Federal Government Not Paying Full Salary To Staff In February by otokx(m): 8:14am On Mar 04, 2016 |
There is corruption in Federal Universities which Buhari via TSA has detected.
Our new VC identified 7 non gazeted (illegal) allowances which hitherto have been paid from internal generated revenue.
Now that all incoming money goes to FG, the university mgt is unable to continue their financial wizardry so staff that earned such money have reduced salaries.
There are also cases of retired workers who continue to be included in payroll, also cases of employment of staff through irregular channels not documented with NUC.
All that leads to a perceived reduction from FG but truth be told the problem is in the various bursary/finance units of the universities and research institutions. |
