Acidosis: You are an illiterate.

A University Bursar/Accountant, Reigistrar and Librarian all belong to NASU.
They are bosses in their fields already..

Lol, like an average "literate" Nigerian who thinks NASU is all about gate keepers, carpenters etc
University Bursar is SSANU not NASU and same for Registrar, University Librarian is ASUU so please stop spreading falsehood.

tbaba1234: Where was bulgaria before the world cup? Many of those guys became stars after the world cup apart from stoichkov. There were no better than Bosnia.

Greece, first world cup, poor team.

Our 94 group was not much stronger than our 2014 group.

They achieved the same thing, 2nd round.
94 remains our finest followed by atlanta 96.

Choice of players should be made on current form, exceptions allowed only if there is some hidden talent that can be unlocked.

Keshi has reached his peak, he cannot surpass these "archievements"

Let his place another take but no foreigner.

YourHealthlabs: A colleague in LUTH told me a story about mbbs fresh graduates clamouring to lecture Science students in idi-araba as Senior lecturers.

Their arguments was that since they are 'doctors' they are equal to PhD lecturers academically and should be appointed Senior lecturers without a single M.Sc.

They prolly thought that 2 Bachlelors' are greater than one M.Sc. I almost fell off my chair 'LOLing'.
Your colleague in LUTH is being mischievious, only doctors who have passed their residency program then become eligible to lecture in the college of medicine not science.

The only power lab technologists do is to lock the gate and run away with the key. Doctors in haematology, chemical pathology can do every single routine they can do and more. Its just that the doctors have other responsibilities in research and teaching of other doctors that it will be full hardy to be restricted to taking samples. The lab technologists now turn around to claim scientists that they are in charge of lab. During their last strike doctors took samples and ran tests for the critical patients in the wards. Guess what, the same lab tech came back to the hospital to try and lock the place and physically prevent the doctors from having access but it was not to be and reason prevailed. These lab tech remind me so much of ANAN and ICAN wahala where the only argument ANAN can say is we are recognized by law which is actually a decree smuggled in by the evil genius. Keep on quoting court cases Yourhealthlabs.

YourHealthlabs: Why are you afraid of the people's?...Oh you no longer have ignorant Nigerians on a leash. People are becoming wiser. Few years ago, if NMA announces a strike action, loads of journalists and Nigerians lamblast the FG, but today you've they can all see through your greed so it's no longer a 'people's opinion thing'...hahaha

Sorry there are consultants in the field Laboratory hematology who are Scientists. Some Nigerian Scientists are even recognized as Fellows in U.K FRCPATh...yes Royal College of Pathologists. Did they bribe the U.K pathologists to get it?
Pls google 'Jeremiah Awortu'..he is one of them.

Scientists have gone to court over the headship of the laboratory and obtained a court ruling that they have the right to head the lab, preventing them from heading their lab and directorate is criminal.

Refer to NICN judgement- FMC asaba pathologists VS Association of Medical Lab Scientists (AMLSN).

Infact enforcement of that law have suffered mixed fortunes in our Public laboratories as you and your organized criminals fight to stop it's implementation, breaking the law in effect. We will keep fighting for it's total implementation.

You are under the LAW like everyone else. You either shape in or ship out.
As usual you side track and then quote non related foreign scenarios. Dr Zacchaeus Jeremiah Awortu is not a consultant, he is a lecturer in medical lab science in NDU. The consultant in his research work is Prof Ejele who is with UPTH and is a qualified doctor with specialty in Haematology. Why you guys try to misinform the public is quite baffling? Dr Zacchaeus is an intelligent and hard working young man but he is not and cannot be a consultant. He may go on to be a professor in medical lab science.

YourHealthlabs: Unfortunately, this is a not a room in the hospital, this is the court of public opinion where facts are laid bare for all to see.

The internet is a leveler and this discussion will be kept for reference posterity sake. Who knows, Dr Yayale Ahmed or even GEJ might just stumble on this thread and understand the issues at stake.

I just hope Seun and his admin guys help us safeguard from this thread against any future hacking on NL unlike other Johesu/nma threads lost in the NL earthquake.

The thread already has more than 6,000 views.

The future is as important as today.
Let the debates continue. Let the people judge.
Its not a people judge thing, water finds its level. Lab technologists cannot and will never head an immunology, chemical pathology, haematology and other similar departments. They should be content taking samples and testing them but even then a doctor is always on call to supervise. Some routines too are done strictly by the doctor with specialty in that area as a rule of thumb.

Acidosis: When you fight every progressive move they wish to take, how do you expect them to engage in rural postings?

Well, I know Pharmacy students go for 1year internship (before nysc, and they get paid). Also Pharmacy faculties in Nigeria have Clinical Pharmacy departments & labs.
They do not do clinicals; lets state facts, intenship is not clinicals.
Health › Re: Doctors’ Strike Cripples Hospitals Nationwide by otokx(m): 8:35pm On Jul 02, 2014
To give balance to the Pharmacy parable above there is an element of human factor. The pharmacist approach though was malicious.

I once had a dental procedure at UPTH and got the usual painkiller and antibiotic prescription but the doctor was unaware of an unrelated medical condition which was disclosed during clerking. I don't blame him because these guys are overworked instead of seeing maybe 15 cases a day they get to do 50 and then still have to do seminars, lecture students and run departments.

It was a pharmacist friend that drew my attention to that drug and it was left out.

Everyone is important but honour to whom honour is due and that is the doctor. Even as consultants they still have to read and add to knowledge but not so for the others like nurses, etc who apply known procedures.

Really feel for the pharmacists, how did they allow themselves to be lumped with the others who are no where near them.

@acidosis

Pharmacy students in Nigeria, do they do clinicals or rural postings? You guys are so quick to quote wikipedia and shout that since US does it Nigeria should do it when the structures differ.

i know the answer by the way but wanted to see what you will say.

Samgreguc: yea, they wanted studying med surg bt, cudnt belns of either jamb nonentical markings, post utme runs and even admission runs. Do u get it?
Moreover, all those knowledge u get from ur o'level which enables u into the systen ends in year 1 and a new thing is met in year 2. For Pharmacy, u are going into no year 2 without passing all the whole year1 course. So, dont that tell u somethg?
.
A 400level pharm student is a badoo. . . Quote me anywhere, to get pass 300level makes u a genius(having pass 12 to 14 courses with huge handout whose pass marks are 50% and some 60%). . . .
.
.
.
.entering is one thing, continuing is anoda.
Medicine still remains the most sought after course in University. Its the top of the medical courses. Pharmacy may be tedious but its not among the top 3 most sought after medical courses in UNIPORT. Those are hard bare facts from the records. Pharmacy is not near tedious as Medicine, do you guys do clinicals?

Pictures of the magnificent, gigantic, development projects. Hope you are not referring to the hotel being built by Mama peace. Yenagoa was an embarrassment of a state capital with most of it under water on that sunny day that we visited.

About half if not more of the people that work in Yenagoa actually drive to and from Port Harcourt daily.

sarutobie: the emotions are justified...why should someone like me give a hoot about a cut throat doctor who was willing to watch a woman die for a price wayyyy beyond what was really needed..why should I care about what such a doctor is fighting for?
You forget India has steady power, they also produce most of the drugs locally there so costs are greatly reduced.

We have to tell ourselves the truth, there has been no light in UNIPORT over 4 months now despite that a bill of about 15 million is paid monthly. If and when school fees is increased students will begin to shake the place.
