Nice tips on inverters here but remember the length of time the battery lasts depends on the load and type of load. Its not advisable to connect a ups to an inverter neither is it advisable to connect a sound system and then increase the music to some real high sound. Its also good to inculcate energy saving practices - when in the kitchen put the light on and when you leave put it of not you put on 1 bulb in the kitchen and another in the parlor and another in the toilet and another in the room then you go outside to gist with your neighbour.
