A woman identified as Tricia Oterneghoro, has been arrested for pouring hot soup on her 13 year old daughter, Joyce Emmanuel for sleeping in a neighbour's house.

Narrating what led to the assault, the young girl said that when she wanted to go have her bath the previous night, her mom warned her not to go but she insisted. This made her mother lock the door leaving her outside in the cold.

When she realized her mum wouldn't open the door for her, she decided to go sleep in their neighbour's house. In the morning, her mother stormed into the neighbour's room with a pot of hot soup and poured it on her.

Speaking to ITV on the incident, neighbors described the woman as a wicked person who is fond of maltreating the girl.

One of the neighbours said; A woman with correct sense will not do this to her daughter. I have warned her not to beat the girl again. Her father called yesterday and the girl said she was interested in going to nursing school.”

Another neighbour said they heard the little girl screaming and had to run outside to see what was the problem. "I heard the noise and was forced to run outside, before we came out, we found out that this little girl was screaming, crying and shouting. Even the mother that did this thing didn't even care or act like she is a human being"

Meanwhile, the girl's mother defended her actions saying she had warned neighbours not to allow her daughter sleep in their house. So when she saw her the following morning she got angry and poured her the soup. She also claimed she didn't know what came over her.

Bayelsa is not a city. Yenagoa is already on the list. As far as adding Iom goes, i restricted the list to major cities else about 5 towns in Delta state such as Ughelli, Sapele etc would have made the list. Ibadan and Owerri are really just there to make up the list.

In Nigeria's multi ethnic society, we have come to embrace pidgin English to be able to communicate effectively with one another. The use of pidgin in different Nigerian cities vary due to several variables. So, these are the cities in Nigeria wehre pidgin engish is most spoken.

1. Warri: Warri is reputed as the capital of pidgin English in Nigeria and there’s word going around that pidgin English actually started there. We’re not sure of that but what we’re sure of is the fact that pidgin made in warri is a delight to other pidgin speakers throughout the country. Pidgin Englsh has eclipsed other languages such as Urhobo, Isoko, Ijaw, Itsekiri which are indigenous to Warri and it's environs.

2. Port-hacourt: It is not surprising that port-hacourt is in the number 2 position considering the fact that the state that houses the city is made up of several ethnic groups like the Ikwerres, Ijaws, Igbos, Ogonis and pidgin English is an easier way for a lot of people to communicate with one another.

3. Lagos: Lagos is reputed as one of the most cosmopolitan cities not just in Nigeria but Africa. Despite the fact that English is the predominant languages being used in the state of excellence, especially in official capacities, pidgin English is one way for the different ethnic groups that call Lagos home can effectively communicate to one another and is has arguable surpassed the ethnic Yoruba language in terms of use.

4. Benin: The ancient city of Benin just like it’s neighbour, Warri is a home of pidgin English and people who live in Benin speak it so well due to the convergence of different tribes in the ancient kingdom.

5. Yenagoa: The capital of Bayelsa state despite being an almost all Ijaw speaking is reputed as one of the places in Nigeria with a strong Pidgin English base. This may e unconnected with the fact that it is sandwiched by states with different ethnicities.

6. Abuja: Abuja represents the crème de la crème of Nigerian cities and despite how posh a lot of people tend to appear, you cannot take away pidgin English from a city that refers to itself as the city of unity. The city is represented by people from different backgrounds ranging from Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Efik/Ibibio, Igala, Egbira, Idoma and so on.

7. Calabar: The major language spoken in Calabar is efik but due to the fact that cross river state is a multi ethnic state, there;s an adoption of pidgin English by a lot of these people who live in Nigeria’s first capital city.

8. Asaba: Asaba has grown from a small Igbo town on the western side of the Niger to what is seeming as a conglomeration of not just Igbos from different parts but for people from different parts of Delta state who have to adopt pidgin English to be able to communicate effectively.

9. Ibadan: The reputed largest city in west Africa is a hub of modern day Yorubanism. It’s a city that reflects what the Yorubas have been able to do for themselves and this has attracted people from all over the country to add their flavour to the city. So, whenever you find yourself in Ibadan, apart from the dominant Yoruba language, you’ll see people communicating in urbanized pidgin English.

10. Owerri: Owerri, which is often reputed as the las vegas of Nigeria is a tourist hotbed for people from different parts of southern Nigeria who want to escape the busy life in places like Port-hacourt and Lagos and have a nice time in Owerri. It’s also the city that boasts of one of the largest number of tertiary schools in Nigeria and has attracted people from cosmopolitan backgrounds from all over the country, so it’s no surprise really that pidgin English is almost as common as Igbo language.

A joint operation of police team in Italy on Thursday, March 2, arrested a Nigerian couple, Michael Uyi Aigieator,34, and Pamela Aigieator, 27, in Cagliari, Italy for trafficking Nigerian women to Italy for prostitution.

According to Ansa English, the couple would subject their victims to voodoo rites after which they were forced into prostitution.

Police also freed the victims of the couple, who are suspected of people trafficking and aiding illegal immigration aggravated by placing people at risk of their lives in unseaworthy boats.

Aliyah Masaku, who was attacked by three dogs in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has died. Aliyah died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, on Wednesday after she was transferred from the Ikorodu General Hospital, where she was first admitted.

Aliyah was sleeping at their house on Alhaji Abdul Hakeem Bin Sulaimon Avenue, off Ewuren Road, Ikorodu, when an Alsatian dog broke loose. The dog, Rover, was one of 15 other dogs owned by the landlord who is based in London, U.K.

It reportedly dragged Aliyah to the back of the house where two other Alsatian dogs joined it in attacking her. They inflicted multiple injuries on her body in an attack residents said lasted for about two hours. .

The father, Wasiu, who was responsible for the care of the dogs, had reportedly gone to buy the dogs’ feed when the incident happened on Monday. Around 11pm of that day, some residents reportedly invaded the house and killed Rover.
Aliyah was taken to the Ikorodu General Hospital. The father told Punchng, around 4pm on Wednesday, that his daughter had a minor surgery at the hospital, before she was transferred to LASUTH. .

He said, “This afternoon, the doctors said her condition had worsened and she was not breathing normally again. They said they would need to take her to the Intensive Care Unit where I would spend about N500,000 per day. .

They have not been asking for money from me, except for the drugs.” Around 6pm, Wasiu informed Punchng that Aliyah had been pronounced dead, and broke down in tears. He lamented that his life would never be the same again.

The Director of the Office of Public Defender, Mrs. Olubukola Salami, expressed sadness at the news, adding that measures were being taken to forestall a recurrence in the state. Salami said the agency was making an arrangement to remove the dogs in the house where the incident happened.

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a student of a college of technology in the state, Yetunde Kayode, for allegedly tricking her friend into the hands of a 10-man gang of rapists.

The culprits allegedly raped the victim as part of the ritual to initiate her into an occult group. Yetunde, who was arrested in Ijero Ekiti few days ago, was accused of specialising in recruiting vulnerable girls for the gang to rape, particularly members of Ave cult. .

According to a detective, part of the initiation process is that female students are blindfolded and gang-raped by cult members. “They are thereafter warned to shut their mouth as initiates or risk losing their lives. .

But the last victim defied the threat and reported to her parents who informed the police, which led to the arrest of three of the cult members,” he added. A source in the school said many female students had suffered similar fate, but kept their mouths shut to avoid stigmatisation.

Kayode and three of the suspected rapists were among the 26 suspects paraded on Wednesday by the Commissioner of Police in Ekiti, Wilson Inalegwu.
