Health / Re: RIP DJDOLA- We Will Miss You by pacesetter808: 9:40pm On Nov 17, 2014
I suggest we focus on the most pressing issue at hand.....Getting help for DjDola and leave out any malicious attacks on other members who are doing their part in making this cause successful. This isn't something any of us can do unilaterally and as such efforts by other participants should be appreciated by all and every. Criticisms and suggestions are very welcome but please let's keep it as positive as possible. I assume there are no kids on this forum and we all understand the magnitude of the matter at hand. Thanks all for your co-operation.

Can an account to which subsequent payments be provided ASAP? It's best we deal with issues before they arise. Do we have to wait till when funds are needed before we start collecting funds? I asked naijadeyhia yesterday to provide an account as he stated that an account will be provided for donations to be made to and no donations should be made directly to DJDolas' account. No update on this till this present minute.

I commend everyone's efforts so far. I'm really impressed by the way people have offered help in different ways. It's my prayer that DJDola will be back in good health within the shortest possible space of time. I'm not knocking off the plans on the India trip. However, we must take into consideration the time involved in getting a visa. Time isn't very good friends with us right now. My suggestion is to settle for a hospital where the transplant can be done locally while plans to get an India visa are ongoing. That way, if there are any delays with the visa, treatment can still carry on. It would be futile at the end of the day if getting the visa takes longer than envisaged, time we can't regain would have been lost and no treatment would have taken place.

yomifowe:

Maybe i need to understand the meaning of 'Over-rated'

Over-rated - Having a higher opinion of something or someone than is desired.
Romance / Re: The Best Gift A Woman Can Give To Her Husband/fiance. by pacesetter808: 1:29pm On Dec 19, 2013
I believe this idea of women being virgins till marriage is over-rated. Admitted, it's a plus and any man who marries a virgin will appreciate his wife for it. However, we must not forget important factors that must be present to sustain a relationship......love, care, respect, faithfulness, loyalty, hygienic to mention a few. I'll rather marry someone who has been all about the place but has all these qualities than a virgin that lacks all these qualities.
Family / Re: Dino Melaye's Wife Files For Divorce + Proof Of Assault Domestic Violence (PIC) by pacesetter808: 11:22pm On Dec 16, 2013
I learnt from my teenage days NEVER to lay hands on a female no matter how much she provokes me. I had an argument with my sister and it degenerated into a physical battle and I beat her blue black. My dad got back home and I was hoping to justify my actions as she was the first to hit me. Lo and behold, my dad wasn't having it.........I don't think my dad had ever beaten me that much before. He asked me to kneel down for about an hour after which he called me to the room and talked to me man to man. In his exact words "women are weaker vessels and should be protected by men not battered". I asked what I should have done when provoked by my sister earlier in the day. He replied swiftly saying you should just have walked away, walking away doesn't make you a weak man. Only shows you have control of your temper which makes you even a stronger man. I was only lucky to have had this experience as a teenager, a good number of men never had same or similar experience and don't see anything wrong in battering a woman. The laws in Africa don't do much justice on the subject matter either. Domestic violence in developed parts of the world is handled more seriously than in most African countries. There needs to be proper education and enlightenment on domestic violence in African countries. You'll be shocked that some so called elites of the society engage in this shameful act. My sincere advice to women is never to put up with a man who turns you into a punching bag. If it happens once, it can pass for a mistake but the very second it repeats itself, please run as fast as your legs can take you. The chances of such a man changing from his wicked ways are very low. Don't give into pressure from the society and end up risking your life.

Family / Re: My Wife Spends Money On Her Parents And Sibling Without My Consent by pacesetter808: 1:05pm On Dec 16, 2013
My sincere and honest advice to you from the little I know about women is to desist from any such attempt at marrying another wife. The resultant effect would be complicating your life even more. Women are very jealous beings and would go any length to make your life miserable all in the name of seeking for attention from you. What I advice is setting up the parents and/or her siblings so that they will be less dependent on her. Make her understand the rationale behind your actions as well. That way, you can be sure there's an alignment in your reasoning and she doesn't just see you as crazy.
Celebrities / Re: Seun Kuti And Girlfriend Welcome Baby Girl (pictures) by pacesetter808: 12:47pm On Dec 16, 2013
Nigerians are damn too judgmental and hypocrites as well. I can see a lot of comments crucifying Seun Kuti and his girlfriend. Everyone including the unborn child knows the ideal is to have kids within the family setting and not outside matrimony. However, how many of us can convincingly boast of never indulging in unprotected sex at some point? Just that one time you tried it without contraceptive could result in pregnancy. Children are blessings from God and should not be terminated prematurely. I do NOT subscribe to abortion. The most important thing one should ensure as a parent is to give the best you can possibly give to the child in your capacity as the father/mother of such children. I recall a friends' experience when his girlfriend got pregnant. He went to the clinic to register for the abortion. On getting there, he met with this nurse who counselled him against going ahead as planned. She said she knew of couples who have been trying for a baby for up to ten years and even more, all to no avail. In his case, the pregnancy came effortlessly and should not be taken for granted. My friend was quick to change his mind about terminating the pregnancy and vowed to be there for his child all the way. That, I think should be the right approach in the event of a child outside matrimony and not abortion.

Travel / Re: Confession Of A Nigerian Pilot -“White People Should Manage Airlines In Nigeria” by pacesetter808: 9:00am On Oct 13, 2013
I pretty much agree with the captain but differ in some ways to what he believes. The problem has got absolutely nothing to do with race or skin color, the problem is the mindset of an average black man. All the things he mentioned to support his argument in favor of the white man being in charge of aviation in Nigeria are true because the white man values life above material things. Unfortunately, this is more than I can say for blacks. Also, the white man doesn't have silly superstitious beliefs which blacks have. I remember posting a comment on here about the crash when some people made ridiculous comments like "Ondo State was rejecting the body of the late governor". The white man believes in Science......2 plus 2 gives 4, not my mothers' fathers' junior sisters' aunty is against my progress and will make my plane crash should I make the mistake of flying a plane despite being a trained pilot. I don't believe any race is superior to the other, God is not a partial God. What makes the white man achieve more is their approach to things, not because the white man is more competent or a superior breed. I've worked with whites on numerous occasions and benchmarked them in performance. It's our approach we must change, I don't believe it takes the whites to head aviation in Nigeria for planes in Nigeria to be 'safe to fly' and not 'sure to die'.

Mr Okija, you can like to pity yourself for being so stunted in your thinking first. Your pity is not needed this way. Many thanks for understanding.

I believe we are all entitled to our opinion(s) on any subject matter. You can decide to remain as backward thinking and primitive as you want to be, it's absolutely no business of mine. Btw, whose invention is the medium with which you're using to communicate as we speak? Your fore-fathers right? Wake up to the reality Mr, being primitive ain't the way forward.

I can see a few comments on here about Ondo State rejecting the body of the late governor, hence the mishap. When will we throw away all these stupid beliefs imparted on us by our fore-fathers who were neither educated nor exposed? I must say the strong believe we have in all these cultural crap is one of the many reason Nigeria as a country won't move forward. While the white man was building ships to sail to the other end of the world, guns to conquer other parts of the world, planes to fly around the world our fore-fathers were busy chasing rats about the bush and impregnating every woman they considered as sexually attractive forcefully or otherwise. I'm expected to live by primitive beliefs which they laid down even in 2013? In as much as some parts of our culture should be preserved, a good chunk of it should be dispersed......never to be remembered. Logical questions to ask would have been the mechanical condition of the plane before it took off, were protocols met before take off?, was the pilot overworked or under pressure of any sort? These are likely reasons for any plane crash, not any stupid gods rejecting the body of the late governor. This should be a wake up call for other politicians. I implore all politicians to make efforts to impart as positively as they can on Nigeria to make it a better place. There's an old English adage 'Nobody prays for accidents but they do happen; prevention is better than cure'. Let's all work together to make Nigeria a safer and more habitable place to live.

R.I.P to the lost souls.

It would be good to note as well that poverty is a thing of the mind, not a function of how much you're worth. That they bear the name of the late legal luminary doesn't exonerate them from being poor.

Education / Re: Osun's 'O-meal' Feeds 254,000 School Kids Daily by pacesetter808: 1:53pm On Sep 18, 2013
This a good move by the Governor of Osun State, I must say. He seems to be one of the very few governors that has the interest of the masses at heart. However, we must not forget the fact.....he vied for the office of Governor to serve the people. He is not doing anything extra-ordinary. In as much as he should be commended for making an attempt to better the lives of people of Osun State, we must not do this out of proportion. Lest, it might get to his head and follow the steps of other governors. A very logical way to look at it is this.......If you're employed to do a job which you'll get paid for, do you get praises and accolades on the side for doing the job which you're paid for? The obvious answer is no. In the same vain, we should not flatter him with praises because he's doing that which he should do. It's understandable that Nigeria is a country filled with failed politicians so when we see one who is making the slightest attempt to make life better for the citizens, we tend to exaggerate it. I'll be the first to flatter him with praises if funds which he used for the projects are from his purse and not the state allocation. Well done Governor Aregbesola but we still expect more. That's what you were elected into office to do.

Romance / Re: Nigerian Ladies Worry Over Scarcity Of Men by pacesetter808: 2:43pm On Sep 07, 2013
My sincere and honest advice to ladies is to create more value to yourselves character wise, financially and physically. You speak to some ladies these days and you end up wondering why you even tried, being b****y tends to be the new Miss Sexy. NO guy wants a b***h for a wife. The more a girl can create value to herself financially by acquiring professional skills and academic qualifications, the better her chances of getting herself hooked up with the right kind of guy. A university or course center usually has higher attendance than clubs. Truth be told, when we men go out to clubs, we're not looking for girls to make the mother of our kids. The focus is on getting a girl to have some good time with after a few bottles of booze. Also, you find girls these days indulging in all sorts of fast foods resulting to their curves being covered up with fat. Atimes, leading to being overweight. This is the truth undiluted......... The first form of attraction for a man is your looks. We can't tell whether you're an angel or a devil from afar. We need to be attracted to what we see before any attempt(s) can be made at getting to know someone of the opposite gender. The more attractive you look, the higher your chances of getting advances from men. Keep the fast foods at bay and embrace more healthy meals, drink a lot of water and exercise as well. Do I need to mention that this has health benefits as well? Lastly, ladies should learn to be hygienic. The biggest turn off for a man is for a girl to have B.O, M.O, look unkept, not having your hair neatly made, dirty nails etc. A girl that ticks all four boxes mentioned will not have a problem attracting the right kind of guy.
