Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has a message for those accusing him of sundry acts of corruption in government – if money was my target, I would not have gone into government. Atiku, who prides himself as possessing a magic wand for making money, directly handed down to him by God, told reporters in Port Harcourt, on Tuesday that everything he had made including his vast business empire, had been through private sector initiative and not as government official. He spoke at the Port Harcourt International Airport on his way to continue his consultations with stakeholders in Rivers and Bayelsa States, in continuation of his presidential ambition. His words: “To set the records straight, no public funds were involved in all my investments in several sectors that have continued to provide jobs and enhance educational and socio-economic well-being of Nigerians. I have always been contented with what God has given to me in all its ramifications and I thank Him for using me to better the lot of the people. “Without being immodest, I was a successful businessman before going into politics and subsequently becoming the Vice President by Allah’s Grace. I was not desperate to be in government in order to make money but to serve the people in my own little way and contribute my quota to its overall development. Atiku Emphasising that he was the most investigated Vice President in Nigeria, he challenged anybody with evidence linking public funds to establish any of his businesses, which he said had been providing jobs for thousands of Nigerians, including the famous American University of Nigeria (AUN) to come forward with a proof. Atiku lamented that some people do not appreciate individuals who create wealth by their personal initiative and resourcefulness but rather hold contrary views with the stigma of such possessing ill-gotten wealth. He regretted that many Nigerians including his traducers were aware of his success before he even ventured into politics or became the Vice President, yet went ahead to accuse wrongly, wondering why it was difficult for people to believe that government officials could be successful without stealing public funds. “If money was my motivation for seeking elective office, I would not have joined the presidential race at any point in time in my political career. My ability to make money through my businesses was established long before I was chosen as Vice President,” he said. Atiku, while stressing his passion for service, and the desire to bring efficiency in the management of government affairs as the main reasons for his interest in being President, argued that he could not do much as Vice President, because of constitutional constraints. He reminded Nigerians that as a Vice President he did not have the powers to initiate and execute projects of his own choice, but to engage the process. He stated further that it is on record that he creditably discharged tasks assigned to him as Vice President. He regretted that apart from the constitutional constraints which limited the powers of the Vice President, the politics and political intrigues of that era also harmed the larger interests of the people of Adamawa, as some of its share of federal infrastructure including roads were deliberately discontinued on account of some political differences among several key players. The PDP presidential hopeful said that the administration he served in as Vice President awarded contracts for the Mayo Belwa-Jada-Ganye-Tongo and Yola-Mubi-Maiduguri roads in Adamawa State in its first term. According to him, there was supposed to be a spur of the road linking Mambilla in Taraba State and thereby making it the shortest cut to Mambilla but execution of these were delayed and later truncated on the altar of politics. Atiku said allegations that funds meant for road projects in the state were diverted to build the American University of Nigeria in Yola was being unfair to him, and that “it shows lack of understanding of how government runs on the part of the people making such allegations. Government does not run on such pedestrian level, it is a process.”

Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani Kayode has released a statement on the recent alarm raised by the ex-president, Olusegun Obasanjo, alleging that there was a plot to detain and frame him by the Federal government. FFK, in a statement made available to PoliticsNGR, alleged that the Presidency had finalized plans to give other opposition leaders the 'Nnamdi Kanu' treatment. Below is his statement in full; "I have read the disturbing reports about the Buhari administration's plan to frame up, arrest and detain President Olusegun Obasanjo on trumped up and politically-motivated charges. It has also been brought to my attention that they have threatened his life. Though I am not surprised because this is nothing new for this government. That is their stock in trade and they have been doing it for the last three years to anyone and everyone that opposes or criticises them. What bothers me now is that President Buhari has become so jittery that he is prepared to do anything to stay in power. I have done my research and I have discovered that the plan is real. The government are also planning to target other key opposition figures and elder statesmem as we get closer to 2019 such as General T.Y. Danjuma, General Ibrahim Babangida, President Goodluck Jonathan and a handful of others. It appears that Buhari will stop at nothing in order to ensure that all his critics are silenced. The plan to implicate and silence all these leaders together with key figures in the PDP like Ayo Fayose, Emmanuel Udom, Ibrahim Dankwabo, Nyesome Wike, Darius Ishaku, Godswill Akpabio, David Mark, Ike Ekweremadu, Lyle Imoke, Uche Secondus, Sule Lamido, Ibrahim Shekarau, Abubakar Suleiman, Kabiru Turaki, David Jang, Atiku Abubakar, Dele Belgore, Jumoke Akinjide, Nenadi Usman and others is condemnable. They also plan to give some of us the Nnamdi Kanu treatment and make us dissapear or give us the Sambo Dasuki and El Zak Zaky treatment and lock us up indefinately but they will fail. Such is Buhari's desperation that he is even attempting to discredit and destroy key members of his own party like Bukola Saraki, Yakubu Dogara, Dino Melaye, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Abubakar Baraje, Aminu Tambuwal, Abdul Fatah Ahmed, Timi Frank and others. Nobody is safe anymore, not even legislators, media houses, journalists, bloggers, religious organisations or NGO's that oppose or criticise the Federal Government. Nigeria is fast becoming a fascist police state where dissent is seen as a crime and where those that oppose the President are perceived as enemies of the state and prisoners of war. They forget that we have a divine obligation and patriotic duty to oppose evil and tyranny in the land and nothing will make us shirk that responsibility. Let it be clearly understood that we will not sit by idly and allow Buhari to continue to threaten, harrass and intimdate all those who oppose him. We are not intimidated and we have no fear. Governments come and go and no matter what he does Buhari will not be there forever. Taking this matter to a level of threatening the lives and liberty of people like Obasanjo, Danjuma, Babangida, Jonathan and other elder statemen and seeking to destroy key opposition figures for no just cause is dangerous and unacceptable and it will have consequences. We do not want war in Nigeria: we want peace and the Buhari government should desist from provoking a situation and a series of events that may end up spiralling out of control. It is almost as if they are begging for war and that is tragic. They may have the full machinery and power of the Federal Government but we have the Living God. Nothing can stop us in our divine mission to stop him and rescue Nigeria. The truth is that any untoward or irrational course of action will be met with a corresponding and appropiate reaction which may have dire implications for the peace and unity of our nation. This game must be played within the rules of engagement or else all hell will eventually break lose. Buhari must be warned. Peace, fair play and justice must be allowed to reign in our nation and those that oppose the President must be treated with the respect, decency and decorum that they deserve. They are not enemies of the state and prisoners of war but law-abiding and patriotic Nigerians that have no faith in him and that wish to rescue Nigeria from his tyranny. There is no crime in that and they do not deserve to be killed or to be locked up for it |

Buhari is right. #SMH Nigerian youths are lazy and uneducated , always reaping where they did not sow - Buhari Let's objectively analyze the 3 major tribes. No sentiments attached: ... Igbo youths? Me: Most hard working, self reliant and productive in our nation. . Yoruba youths? Most educated and ambitious in our nation. . Hausa youths? Me: The most uneducated, parasitic and lazy in our nation. The youths engage in street begging as a culture. . Conclusion : North is the region Buhari came from. These are the people he knows and was referring to. You can't fault him. He has spoken the truth.

Good morning, my dear People of Nigeria - a nation noted for hospitality, kindness, culture and quintessential Oral Tradition, ALHAJI ATIKU ABUBAKAR'S PRESIDENTIAL AMBITION & SELF-PRESENTATION STYLE: THE WAY I SEE THINGS Governance is about the following: 1. Inclusion 2. Identification of Resources 3. Transparency 4. Accountability 5. Feedback and Review Based on how things have been, we’ll all agree with me, that although HIS EXCELLENCY is yet to be officially elected, his primary concern has been to fulfil ITEMS 1 & 2 above. He seeks not only to make us aware of how to participate in the affairs that affect us through COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT, he leads effectively the much-needed and long-overdue process of RESOURCE IDENTIFICATION. This, we’ll all agree with me, is a classical style that has eluded our darling nation since creation. A Person is yet to be the President, but he is fast fulfilling the rock-solid foundational 12 out of the 15. What then are we waiting for?! SPEECH DELIVERED BY HON. ADEMOLA AKEEM IGE, MEMBER, OYO STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY REPRESENTING IBADAN SOUTH EAST CONSTITUENCY II AT THE OFFICIAL FOUNDATION STONE LAYING CEREMO NY OF ADEYEMO AREA POLICE STATION HELD AT THE SITE GROUND TODAY 6TH JANUARY, 2018. Protocols, Calvary greetings to you all. It gives me great pleasure to be here today at the official Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of the Adeyemo area Police Station. I welcome all the security agents, the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Department of State Security (DSS) vigilant group of Nigeria and other security outfits that are here today. My Special greetings to all the community leaders, religious/spiritual leaders most especially, our highly revered Reverend P.F.Owa, founder Christ Revival Miracle Church, Adeyemo, Ibadan for his effort and commitment towards the realization of this community project. It will be recalled that several crimes has been perpetrated and incessant armed robbery attacks are being carried and unleashed on the innocent people of these areas by men of the underworld in recent times. Many people had been dispossessed of their valuable properties worth millions of naira while lives had equally been lost in the hands of these criminals while carrying out their nefarious activities. As a lawmaker representing the good people of Ibadan South East Constituency II who knows that the security of lives and properties should be a primary business of the government and bearing in mind that the environment that is not secured for our lives and properties does not worth living, I have sponsored some motions that bothers on security which unanimously supported by my colleagues in the House. Our resolved after moving the motions had led to the re-launching of a rebranded security outfit code named “OPERATION BURST” by the Oyo State Government to reduce the crime rates in the State especially in Ibadanland. Also distinguished ladies and gentlemen in the past, I had constructed a police station at Felele and Mapo areas of Ibadan South East Local Government. I had equally gave financial support to the office of the Civil Defence in Ibadan South East to construct the division cell at Ajet not far from this place recently to have a safe place to keep their suspects. Similarly, as part of my efforts to develop my constituency, it is on record that I had installed some streetlights in three crime prone and most volatile areas within the constituency which include:- Phase 1 Eleta -Odinjo- Muslim over head bridge. Phase2 Idi-arere- Kudeti- Ilupeju- Oke Odo- Iletitun-Eleta junction. Phase3 Orita-Aperin-C.A.C-Adesola-Lagos/Ibadan Expressway respectively. Distinguished guests, I did all these not only to beautify and illuminate the environment but also to assist in ensuring the security of lives and properties of the people in these areas especially in the night because those bandits usually strike at night under the cover of darkness. I found it expedient to gather my resources together and to mobilize some well-to-do individuals specifically for this project which its foundation laying commences here today. I will like to appreciate the entire community and the committee that will be supervising this project for listening and yielding to my piece of advice given to ensure that all the major stakeholders participate and contribute their quotas to the construction of this police station project. Finally, I want to call on all the well-to-do people in these areas;Molete, Yejide, Kudeti, Osungbade, Adeyemo, Eyin Grammar and other adjoining areas that are going to benefit from this project when completed to join hands with the committee and donate handsomely to achieve the aim of completing this project within the shortest possible time. Thank you and God bless you all.

Atiku....Hope for our Nation Our youths must hold political leaders and business to account measuring their actions against their promises, OAP olusegun jeje packagerz added this at the on going SAVE OUR NATION programme, adding that malnutrition on the continent represents political failure. In June, African Union leaders at a meeting in Malabo renewed their 2003 commitment to allocate at least 10 percent of their national budgets to agriculture. “We are looking at our leaders. They made fresh promises and we will see where we go from here,” he told a mainly youths meeting. Organised by the CPAF., the meeting took place at De gold hotel international.. “The promises which count, we must remember, are those which are implemented, which are kept,”olusegunpackagerz said. With two thirds of Africans dependent on farming for their livelihoods, boosting Africa’s agriculture can create economic opportunities, reduce malnutrition and poverty, and generate faster, fairer growth. African farmers need more investment, better access to financial services such as loans, and quality inputs such as seeds and fertilisers, OAP olusegun jeje packagerz told audience at an event to discuss this year’s SAVE OUR NATION program,. “You can just imagine the jobs that can be created if we went that route,” OAP olusegun jeje packagerz said, referring to the entire value chain from field to final consumer, including farmers, suppliers, transporters, processors, and a myriad of other operators. “Unfortunately, the neglect of these sectors has allowed inequality on our continent to accelerate,” he said. “Malnutrition is a political failure. And as the saying goes, people who live in democracy and under democratic rule do not starve,” he said. In addition to OAP olusegun jeje and, the session’s speakers included john Dada, who is the head of the forum and Mr masiyiwa Mr Masiyiwa, who is also a telecoms entrepreneur and Chair of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), said that he saw Africa’s agriculture as a business opportunity too. The involvement of African youth, especially its entrepreneurs, will be critical to seizing this opportunity, he said. African currently imports food worth US$35 billion each year. But African farmers should be producing the food and earning this money. The continent could – and should – be feeding itself and other regions too. Mr Masiyiwa compared Africa’s agriculture with changes in thetelecommunications sector, describing these changes as “possibly the greatest modern revolution this continent has seen”. “Less than two decades ago, 70 percent of the African population had never heard a telephone ringing; today 70 percent have a telephone,” he said. How can we use this inspiration to boost our food and nutrition security and the prosperity of this continent, he asked. Nigeria needed an experience leader.who is foremost in agricultural business and also a computer oriented person. That right man to look on is Alhaju Atiku Abubakar..he can and he will fix it.

Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo was a Nigerian nationalist, political leader, writer and a principal participant in the country’s struggle for independence. Obafemi Awolowo (commonly known as Awo and often referred to as ‘the sage’) was one of modern Nigeria's founding fathers. He is of one three National Heroes of the Nigerian nation (along with Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Nnamdi Azikiwe). Early Life and Education Awolowo was born in the town of Ikenné, Western State (present day Ogun State), on March 6, 1909. His first name, Obafemi, means 'The king loves me' and his surname means 'The mystic, or mysticism, commands honour or respect'. His father was a farmer and sawyer who died when Obafemi was only seven years old. He received his early education at the mission schools of Ikenne, Abeokuta (also in Ogun State) and Ibadan (the capital of Oyo State) and became a teacher in Abeokuta, later qualifying as a shorthand typist. He subsequently served as a clerk at the famous Wesley College in Ibadan and as a correspondent for the Nigerian Times. He often worked at odd jobs to raise money for tuition fees and his entrepreneurial spirit continued to express itself in the various careers which he subsequently sampled, including working as a clerk, moneylender, taxi driver and produce broker. Despite his interest in business ventures, Awolowo wanted to continue his formal education. In 1944 he completed aUniversity of London correspondence course for a Bachelor of Commerce degree. His greatest ambition, however, was to study law, which he did in London from 1944 to 1946, after which he was called to the bar. Returning to Nigeria in 1947, he developed a thriving practice as a barrister in Ibadan. He married Hannah Idowu Dideolu in 1937. They had two sons and three daughters. Political Career Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s organisational and political inclinations can be traced to his involvement in various unions, including the Nigerian Motor Transport Union, the Nigerian Produce Traders' Association and the Trades Union Congress of Nigeria. He organised most of these trade unions in his spare time while continuing to run his law firm. He was appointed secretary of the Nigerian Motor Transport Union and Western Provincial Secretary of the Nigerian Youth Movement (NYM). By the early 1940s, he was active in the NYM, becoming the organisation’s Ibadan branch’s secretary in 1940. In 1942, he led a bout of civil disobedience that resulted in the reform of the Ibadan Native Authority Advisory Board. In 1944, he organised a mass protest against the ban on exporting palm kernel. It was this grassroots-level activism that did much to convince ordinary people that they could take on the British and win. Awolowo believed that the colonial system could be challenged in Africa as it had been in India, whose independence struggle inspired his civil disobedience tactics. During his stay in London, Awolowo moved to a position of prominence in the struggle for Nigerian independence. He founded the Action Group political party political party in 1951 and became its first president. The Action Group's platform called for the immediate termination of British rule in Nigeria and for the development of various public welfare programs including universal primary education, an increase of health services in rural areas, the diversification of the Western Regional economy and the democratization of local governments. He won the first Western Region elections in 1951 and was chosen to be Minister for Local Government Structure, a role in which he established elective councils. In 1954 he became the first premier of the Western Region, an achievement for which he was awarded an honorary chieftaincy. During his tenure as leader and premier, he held the regional ministerial portfolios of local government, finance and economic planning. He was also the chairman of the Regional Economic Planning Commission. From 1954 to 1959 as Premier of the Western Region, Awolowo worked to improve education, social services and agricultural practices. He also tried to build the Action Group into an effective nationwide party by making alliances with ethnic groups in other regions. However, the 1959 elections were to be an important turning point in Awolowo's career: after his resignation from the post of premier to run for a seat in the Federal House of Representatives, the Action Group was decisively defeated and Awolowo found himself the leader of the opposition in the Federal House of Representatives while the deputy leader of the Action Group, Chief SL Akintola, remained premier of the Western Region. This situation led to a power struggle within the party which ultimately erupted in 1962 in disturbances in the Western Region House of Assembly. The federal government intervened and suspended the regional constitution. In 1963 Awolowo was found guilty of conspiring to overthrow the government of Nigeria and was sentenced to ten years of imprisonment. However in 1966, a coup d'etat led to the suspension of Nigeria’s federal constitution and the empowerment of a military government. The coup led to Awolowo’s release in July 1966 and as a result of the confused events of the next year and after some indecision, he eventually threw his support behind the federal government against the south-eastern secessionist state of Biafra. He was appointed the Federal Commissioner of Finance and Vice-President of the Federal Executive Council by Yakubu Gowon's military administration during the Civil War. In the mid-1970s he was the chancellor of the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), which was the brainchild of the Action Group. He was also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. When the twelve-year ban on political activity was lifted in 1978 in preparation for a return to civilian rule, Awolowo emerged as the leader of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN). He ran for president in the elections of 1979 and 1983 but was defeated both times by Shehu Shagari. As a result of another military coup at the end of 1983, political parties were once again banned and Chief Awolowo retired from politics. Free Universal Primary Health and Education Obafemi Awolowo introduced free healthcare for children up to the age of 18 in the Western Region as well as free and mandatory primary education in Western Nigeria. Although Awolowo failed to win the 1979 and 1983 presidential elections (the results of which were questionable), his policies of free healthcare and education were rolled out in all of the states controlled by his party, UPN. Works In 1945, Chief Obafemi Awolowo wrote his first book, Path to Nigerian Freedom, in which he was highly critical of the British policy of indirect administration and called for rapid moves toward self-government and the Africanisation of administrative posts in Nigeria. He also expressed his belief that federalism was the form of government best suited to the diverse populations of Nigeria in the book, a position to which he consistently adhered. He also founded the Trade Unions Congress of Nigeria. In 1945 in London, he helped found the Egbe Omo Oduduwa (Society of the Descendants of Oduduwa, the mythical ancestor of the Yoruba), an organisation devoted to the study and preservation of Yoruba culture. In 1949, Awolowo founded the Nigerian Tribune, the oldest surviving private Nigerian newspaper, which he used to spread nationalist consciousness among his fellow citizens. His second book, Awo: An Autobiography of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, in which he once more endorsed federalism as the most appropriate form of government for Nigeria, was published in 1960. In it, he also outlined the successful history of the Action Group and was optimistic with regards to Nigerian independence. While in prison, Awolowo wrote Thoughts on the Nigerian Constitution (1966), in which he argued for the retention of a federal form of government composed of eighteen states. In 1968, Awolowo published his fourth book, The People's Republic, calling for federalism, democracy and socialism as necessary elements for a new constitution which would lead to the development of a stable and prosperous Nigeria. Although he praised the military government for creating a twelve-state federal system in 1967, he predicted further political difficulties because these states had not been based on ethnic and linguistic affinities. Awolowo continued to serve the government as Commissioner of Finance and Vice-Chairman of the Federal Executive Council throughout the civil war years (1967-1970). In his 1970 book The Strategy and Tactics of the People’s Republic of Nigeria, he hinted at a position which he would state more firmly in subsequent years: that the government's post-war spending should be devoted to development rather than to the military. Awolowo’s other publications include Anglo-Nigerian Military Pact Agreement (1960), Philosophy of Independent Nigeria(1961), Blueprint for Post-war Reconstruction (1967), The Path to Economic Freedom in Developing Countries (1968),Problems of Africa (1977), Awo on the Nigeria Civil War (1982), Adventures in Power (1985), and selected speeches such as 'Voice of Reason,' 'Voice of Courage' and 'Voice of Wisdom' (all published in 1981). Legacy Awolowo is remembered for his remarkable integrity, ardent nationalism, principled opposition and federalistic convictions. His party was the first to move the motion for Nigeria's independence in the federal parliament and he obtained internal self-government for the Western Region in 1957. He is credited with coining the name 'naira' for the Nigerian standard monetary unit (formerly known as the Nigerian pound) as the Federal Commissioner of Finance under the military government of General Yakubu Gowon. And though often ignored, Obafemi Awolowo was also General Yakubu Gowon’s de facto vice president when he was Vice President of the Supreme Federal Executive Council under Gowon. Awolowo helped to finance the civil war and preserve the federation without borrowing. He built the Liberty Stadium in Ibadan (the first of its kind in Africa with a seating capacity of 35,000) which was later renamed after him by President Jonathan Ebele Goodluck thirty years after his death; established Western Nigerian Television (WNTV), the first television station in Africa, on October 1, 1959; erected the Cocoa House, the first skyscraper in tropical Africa (which is still the tallest building in Ibadan) and ran a widely-respected civil service authority in the Western Region. Many of Awolowo’s disciples in Nigeria’s south-west have continued to invoke his name and the policies of the Action Group during campaigns and his welfarist policies have influenced politicians in most of the other geopolitical zones of the nation. He held many chieftaincy titles including the Losi of Ikenne, Lisa of Ijeun, Asiwaju of Remo, Odofin of Owo, Ajagunla of Ado-Ekiti, Apesin of Osogbo, Odole of Ife and Obong Ikpa Isong of Ibibioland. He was also awarded the highest Nigerian national honour: Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR). Many institutions in Nigeria have honoured him and some regional and national institutions and roads are named after him. His portrait is also on the ₦100 note. However, his most important bequests (often styled as Awoisms) are his exemplary integrity, his promotion of the welfare of ordinary Nigerians, his contributions to hastening the process of decolonisation and his consistent and reasoned advocacy of federalism based on ethno-linguistic self-determination and politically strong states as the best basis for Nigerian unity. Death Awolowo died at his Ikenne home, the Efunyela Hall (named after his mother) on May 9, 1987 at the age of 78.

I recalled his advice on this memorable day and I treasure the prayers he offered to me. I made friendships across the entire Origbo land in the course of my secondary education and I still relate with most families in Origbo land.
