I've watched The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo. Plan to watch the Swedish versions with Noomi Rapace.
Yep, I know she's a talented actress and some of her movies. Saw her recently in Women Talking and Nightmare Alley. Didn't know about her sister.

Yeah, Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan were the shit that year. I haven't watched the movie and wanted to that year, 2021 or so I think. But I wasn't so into indie films and slowburns as I am now. So I chickened out and didn't watch. I was trying to remember the name when I was curating that list but left it for later when I'm seriously planning to clear the list. Saoirse is one prime mad talented actress too. Don't know why she's stuck with indie fare. She's one talent that should have broken into mainstream Hollywood and headlining blockbusters by now. I'm anticipating something like that with this her upcoming movie FOE.
I'm struggling to remember the other indie fare actress in recent memory that broke into the A-List and it's only Margot Robbie I can think of.

I might look into this.

I heard stuff about this movie. Maybe na to watch the original.

Can't wait to see Anne Hathaway in a premium sensual movie. I don dey fantasize am dey wait since.

Guy no fear. We all know many of us have sexual fantasies of our favourite actresses. We no dey shame for here. grin grin grin
Glad I'm not the only one grin grin

Rooney has a sister,Kate Mara that's also talented but she don't know how to pick her projects because she's been bouncing from flop to flop,I was even introduced to her before Rooney when she appeared in American horror story

Her

As of the late 2010s to the early 2020s,there are only four movies that I personally can say captured Loneliness to the tea which are "The whale" "The Lobster" "The lighthouse" and "Her". What separates Her from the trio is that it expands on the forms of loneliness especially in a future setting which sadly humans are heading to with various plugs that we have in today's society to pump us high on endorphins,I can only pray and hope for how the future will look like. Big ups to Joaquin for capturing the spirit of Theo even if a lot of people said he was playing his joyless self and ScarJo even as just a voice fills the room with her sensual energy

One thing I adore about the movie was the vibrant use of colors not just in the cinematography but everywhere especially the color Red that could be a metaphor for most of Theo's feelings

I also loved that Jonze made the character a white man which according to statistics say are the loneliest demographic in today's world

Yes na im. grin grin I don start am yesterday night but I never still see action.
Cos of am I go create new watchlist. 😂😂

I go soon watch am.

The trailer of NAPOLEON gave me goosebumps. Epic war thriller movie. Putting Joyless Phoenix for that role na tactical masterclass. I believe it'd be more nuanced than his previous roles than just plain outright melancholy.
Rooney also played a bisexual in "A girl with the dragon tattoo" opposite Daniel Craig (I still prefer the Polish version though), can't believe you've been sleeping on her, girl's got acting chops than her sister. I can see how her and Joaquin being together, their personalities are completely lackluster (her and her sister rarely smile and have been called the sad sisters by the media) and she's also a vegan

Add Kate Winslet and Saiorse Ronan's Ammonite to the list, that sex scene is da bomb, the first movie Kate went completely nude in 27 years,yep....since Titanic and unlike The mountain between us,aunty show us everything and Kate is 19 years older than Saiorse so sweet milf vibes

Yorgos Lanthimos's The Favorite was another hot flick between Emma Stone and Olivia Coleman,Oliver won an Oscar for this role and she was the one who presented Joaquin Phoenix with his own the next year

Portrait of a lady on fire was a complete let down, these two beautiful women and the helmer said hell NO to "satisfying the male gaze",still a hot sensual movie non the less

At least,Anne Hathaway and my all time crush Jodie Turner Smith will be starring in a lesbian flick, fingers crossed on them to bring the house down. Anne also did a Bvlgari commercial with Zendaya, the whole thing screamed sugar mama and sugar baby vibes.

Abeg no come for my head oooo, man go b man,I can't help but sexualize these hot chicks getting it on

I think he's right...No? Box office numbers is not a healthy metrics to measure a film success. Not all movies are destined for box office greatness, doesn't necessarily mean they are bad flicks, if you are familiar with indie genre, you get what I'm saying.

Infact, back before the Oscars went artsy, box office bombs used to regular clear the Awards. "Hugo" (2011) was huge box office bomba, but still genered an impressive 11 Oscar nom, winning 5!.

Box office numbers shouldn't mean much to a true cinephile, and i am not saying movies shouldn't make money, of course they should, it's a business, but it is left for the movie makers and producers to balance it out without tainting the art.
It depends on the artform for sure but when you live in an hyper capitalist world, you don't expect not to expect returns on your investment, it's just the basic principle of business and economics and this basketmouth is looking at it from only the passion perspective,if we all did things for passion, nobody would be paid for shit so many. Passion my ass, Elon musk and Dangote still dey find money

$43m in it's first weekend means it has failed?? Really? So in this context "The Flash" is a better movie? "Shazam Fury of the Gods" is a better movie?

Maann...Martin Scorsese was right. The obsession with these box office numbers is killing the industry. These numbers might discourage people who hold these obsession, thinking this is a bad movie which infact it's not. Any projections that picture this doing exceedingly better than this at this point is a farce. DC didn't even put much into promoting this till like last 2 weeks or so.
Everything that continues to come out of this man's mouth is showing how he's loosing touch with reality. Fantastic director but c'mon

I had high expectations for this one, but i was sure disappointed.

The Animation concept was really cool, so also were the colors etc, the dialogues were pretty good. My beef was with the story. It was very cliche. It something we have seen a thousand times, in Hollywood, Nollywood and Bollywood movies.
The movie was just Zootopia with elements

A Clockwork Orange (1971)......8.5/10

It's a film about juvenile delinquency and extreme measures taken by the government to tame it. A dark and gritty theme of vicious cycle of control, choice, violence, vengeance and karma.
It had a unique dialogue with its flamboyant use of invented words or slangs (Nadsat).

Nice storytelling with the unique narrator style to drive the theme of the story. Gripping score.
Lots of gratuitous nudity and violence. Didn't expect this much nudity in the 70s especially when it's not an horror flick. Overall, I can see the reason why Stanley Kubrick's narrative style is praised till this day.

Can't help but notice how ladies with full sized bosoms were mostly used throughout the film. In this era we're in, it's mainly peanut sized bosoms we'd be left to consume. 🌚

Well the "self love" movement swayed things in the opposite direction, back then girls were pumping under the knife left and right

They were saying his Essence photo shoot is "feminine" because he wore pink when in reality it was inspired by a villain from "one piece" not to even talk about his photoshoot with Michael B Jordan and people don already tag am gay because their face meet,I just tire 4 black masculinity. In general, the black race needs proper mental restructuring and intense therapy. I'm not really bothered about Ezra Miller and have been clamouring for his removal a long time ago. I've never once enjoyed his portrayal as Barry with the goofy. Weirdly enough, I liked his portrayal in Flash. I know the circumstances of the movie and I've stated it here many times.

My issue is with the somewhat hypocritical take with Jonathan Majors and how hush many peeps seem with his. I'm not saying he's guilty and hope he sorts this out as I like him as an actor long before his MCU debut sef.
I'm just not seeing peeps make funny statements like cancel the whole TV show, or not release it at all just like many were suggesting with The Flash. And I find that annoying.
Cc Palehair
I'm not trying to justify Majors,he should be persecuted if he's found guilty but comparing the weight of their crimes is like comparing apples to oranges. Miller was just giving us drama back to back with no commercial breaks and to even add insult to injury, there were video evidences to prove how much of a pariah they were whereas Majors had evidences to prove his innocence..........Also,can you help with my internet settings because it's like you set your's to be positive to not see the hate Majors was getting after news of his arrest came out,bro was collecting from all angles, things even became worse when black people brought their own vitriol to the culture war after finding out the girl was white,I remember Dr Umar Johnson and his racist cult saying he's been "snowbunnied"

A Grant Gustin casting would also lead to the likely outcome. Tbh he's a C list actor at best, i doubt he has any significant project outside of that show. And PS tv show fame and acting is different from movies, just ask Tom Welling and Stephen Amell.

It was probably due to previous history of documented misdemeanors as far back as 2011 when he was filming for "Perks of being a wallflower". It was intense last year from Journos because his misdoings were happening more frequently and it involved some guilty verdict and restraining orders.

Looking back on "The Flash", i still insist it was not the perceived prejudice against him that made the movie fail so bad, it might be a small part reason but not the crust, infact i liked his performance and i believe i stated that in my review. In all honesty. There was the watery plot, the studio meddling, the seemingly inconsistent CGI, the general superhero cinephile fatigue no thanks to MCU spamming, the DCEU not actually pulling it's weight recently in terms of movie success, Zack Snyder "occultist" fans doing their own in one corner etc. This movie was "set up" to fail and i think a different controversy free actor playing Barry Allen would have ended up with the same likely outcome albeit maybe not as catastrophic as this.

What do you think? A different actor would have made a difference?
We don't have to agree and I know it's impossible but two words "Grant Gustin"

Not really Johnny Depp cos he had devoted fans and colleagues on his side the whole time.

I'm talking about Ezra Miller allegations last year leading to this year and other celebrities that have suffered same guilty prejudice as soon as they're labelled.
C'mon man,why now? Of all the people accused of bad behavior, they are the last person I will give my sympathy to.....infact,they deserve all the hate they are getting now and more. Moreover, there were videos to prove they are responsible for most of what they are accused of so "innocent until proven guilty" have no stance here and please I know mental problems are real but it's like that's now the cover up when most of these stars screw up

Lmao.... Omo you get luck oo. 😂 People wey dey shed tears on top this MI7 money plenty. Nolan seizing most of its IMAX screens was the beginning of the end for it. There's also the major snag of younger generations like Gen Z not so bothered with MI franchise as it's mainly for older audiences.

Margot is really loved in WB regardless of her films making money or not. Most of those recent films flopping sef were never WB movies except TSS which is an ensemble film and from James Gunn. It would interest you to know that Margot's Birds of Prey has a higher gross than even Wonder Woman 1984 and The Suicide Squad. She also produced awards darling Promising Young Woman in 2020. That's enough to buy her some goodwill. WB still has appetite for top filmmakers and don't bother much about gross since awards movies is a major strategy at the company.

She's the biggest female star WB has currently and it ain't close. I don't think they'd be that stupid by letting go their prized star after losing Chris Nolan to Universal.

Yep, on Babylon we in agreement. That was easily amongst my top favourite films of 2022 and I believe people will come to love and respect the film later on. I still don't understand what was wrong with the movie. There are some films that people hate at first when it comes out as it doesn't match the zeitgeist, but with time they become a classic as people understand it was well above it's time.
My head carry better luck,I for dey down now and it's not even the money that will pain me but how wrong I was. Yea,there were a lot of mechanics that really changed the gears for MI7 this time, paramount really gambled with this one but today's movie market is no longer predictable which is why I don't blame them, market analyst will say one thing, something else will happen and it's mostly due to the change in how we consume content especially in this shitty economy

WB are sure not letting her out of their sight now. I was scared for mostly her and not just her relationship with WB,as an A-lister like her,I'm sure she must have battled with the "imposter syndrome", doubting herself and we can blame the pandemic for WW1984 but with the heavy marketing of Birds of prey and was released pre lockdown, it still didn't break even. Oga,forget the bolded oooo,no be d movie industry again? It's a capitalist world and even the Barbie movie made fun of it, If you no make dem money, dem go discard you like yesterday's news and if you make mistake come tarnish your image join, dem no only discard you but blackball you join

Babylon will definitely have a cult following in the future,Chazelle knows how to write tortured artists with first man being an exception and that itself was a biopic

Let's wait and see. What's for sure, after BARBIE, more studios and Toy companies will definitely start developing live action and animated toy adaptations. Everyone wants money in Hollywood. Hasbro and Mattel will be leading the line.

WB already has been developing "Hot Wheels" movie for some time for WB Animation. The film is slated for next year.
Hollywood will be super dumb to let this die out so fingers crossed

Lmao.... You sef remember that "Saviour of Cinema since death of Movie star" crap they were shouting few weeks ago.
The thing was annoying me then and I secretly hoped it underperformed make I see wetin their mouth go talk. grin grin
Film wey everybody dey predict will crush Barbie and Oppenheimer became the one using crutches. 😂😂
That "Sound of Freedom" still has some huge controversy regarding its box office gross in US. Many thinks it's a sham. The key is the Studio found a unique way to make their film trend and sell. Having religious bodies, church organisations and co buy tickets in bulk for members to go watch for free was master stroke and got some people foaming in the mouth. grin grin
An R rated Oppenheimer grossing higher than MI7 "5 day opening weekend" was when I know say fire on the mountain is cooking. grin

I'm super happy for Margot Robbie too. But I disagree with her being canned at WB. She's a producer if you don't know and has her own production company. And she's very entrenched in WB that it'd be so difficult for anyone even a top executive to wisk her away. She's that loved. Her portrayal of Harley Quinn alone since debuting in 2016 has made that studio billions in Harley Quinn toys. Harley Quinn toys even outsells Superman by a huge mile and the character is considered the fourth pillar of DC.
It's no wonder Harley Quinn is spammed across all of DC. Her presence is spammed in comics, TV shows (has her own show), toy line and live action film (Birds of Prey).
And Ultimately, WB is well known as a traditional studio that values talent. They usually really committed to their filmmakers and hardly let them go easily if they value them.
Omo,d bolded vex me during dat Maverick period no be small and to make matters worse,I almost had a bet with someone on this as I stood firm on my ground,if the person wasn't skeptical and dropped out last minute,na cry I 4 dey cry now. That's to show you how much faith I had in the "star power" of Tom like I never in a million foresaw Barbie or Oppenheimer overshadowing MI7. I really underestimated the power of the internet and I guess Paramount did too. I'm not surprised about the sound of freedom success as the "Pay-it-Forward" model have been used on other movies and it was a success ,it was used for Love,Simon.

I know Margot has her own company but her pitch to WB wasn't really hitting it in the movie circuit and I know a lot of people are gonna come for my head for this but I was starting to compare her to.......(hides my face) Kathleen Kennedy, abeg don't sue me ooooo but happy about the turnaround for the talented beauty and I don't care what anybody says, Babylon was one of my favorite movies of 2022

They thought the movie will do well and hold its own against Barbenheimer not knowing it's going to be their victim. grin

Paramount has mostly goofed their release date this year with questionable release date.... They just released their movies being sandwiched between bigger competition.

Dungeons and Dragons, Transformers and now MI7 has suffered the same fate.

We all knew since last year that many movies would suffer from cannibali$m against each other due to scheduling themselves too close to one another, especially this July slate. It was inevitable some movies would suffer from others dominance.

And now they're doing the same mistake with TMNT releasing soon. At least, they're smart producing for a reasonable $80mn budget.
MI7 underperforming compared to it's predecessors is the biggest shock of the summer. Despite the marketing,Dem boys were screaming Tom is the saviour of the theatre with internet critics calling him the only movie star we have left since the death of the movie star,I legit thought they will all go out in groves to go support the same way they did for sound of freedom.

I'm just happy for Margo, girl have had back to back flops,4 in total.....she was getting close to be labelled "box office poison",she deserves it because you can tell she put in everything she got to make this film, thanks to her relationship with WB,I'm sure if Barbie flopped, they would've bid her sayonara.

Now let's see if WB will work with Mattel to bring more toys like their monster high collection to live action,MGA could also work with a major studio to snag the piece of the pie with their Bratz collection that was even more diverse before Barbie knew what diversity is not to talk about how they've beaten Barbie in market share and it's not just once. Since that abomination called "G.I Joe" that paramount released,I've always wondered why studios haven't seen the capitalist boom they can make out of adapting toys to live action movies, they do it to video games, anime even theme parks. The boys could also join in on the action with Hasbro working with paramount (because I'm sure there's no way they are letting go of the rights to GI Joe after seeing the Barbie success) to finally give us a decent and entertaining GI Joe movie, that's all the gleeful kid in me who was a major GI Joe toy owner wants, their Battleship game could also join the charge and try not to sink this time
