19CannyMum:

You see me and this Canada cold, I almost did not do express entry because I hate cold. That was my only fear.

But since I come this Canada, it's just obvious that this is where I'm meant to be lol. E be like say na Canada be my destiny no be Nigeria. The place just fit me like hand glove including the cold.

Cold no dey catch me again! Yesterday was -1 na so I dey sweat for bustop. Coman see me unbuttoning everywhere and unzipping everything.

My people, do not ever let cold discourage you from the Canada. The only thing that should discourage you is if you're earning monthly salary of 3m (10k dollars) in Nigeria.

This your write up terrified me. In fact I'm traumatized...and I'm landing next week. Who kuku send me o
Torkwase1:
I got my first taste of the real Canadian cold today. Jesu, it was so cold it started feeling hot. I don't know if that makes sense. Went to a bank nearby and narrowly missed the bus going back home, and had to walk. My gloved hands became stiff, could feel the chill right inside my high bones, the wind right in my face. Ho my God.
I'm wearing two trousers, two gloves tomorrow. And a balaclava.

Oga please calm down. They're right. We have been advocating for this since I can remember. Nobody is trying to attack you. It's just to prevent unnecessary spamming of the thread because these ppr stories can be really long. Cheers

Hello dear, I'm quite interested in the HCA certification. But I'm looking at Norquest college because it's in Edmonton and that's my destination. Please what do you think? When can I start to apply as we're landing by month end.
Tantolu:

While you study to get certified as a Physiotherapist in Canada, its possible for you to initially train as a Physical therapy assistant or Recreational Assistant, and work with that certification for a while.

But if you are interested in Adult care you will need to get certified and licenced as an Health Care Aide (HCA).Your Location in Alberta will determine the best college you can consider for HCA, you may wish to check : Bow valley College and Red deer college.

PPR and COPR!!
The Lord is good and everything He does is perfect. I have come to testify my dear brethrens. So sorry this is coming late, I've been so nervous to post. I didn't know if my story will interest you guys. I've been gathering liver. Lol.

Please forgive any typos or errors, this one is not Ielts. Also it's a long post o, please don't quote everything when you want to quote. Thanks grin

Even though I've always wanted to see the world by travelling to other countries, I have always still been pro Nigeria. I believed so much in her, even when people close to me relocated, I still believed everything will be fine one day. But everything changed when hubby and I got married last year. I just realized I cannot raise my children in this country. I don't want to. So here the journey began. The dream was born.

I had already been learning French, not just for TEF or EE but for the love of the language. Then I started preparing for TEF late 2017 when I didn't even have full knowledge of the process. I had a BSc and a PGD but I didn't even know my PGD would give any marks. Thought it was only masters degree and I didn't have it. This was because of the half baked info that I had then. So I decided to jejely respect myself and start TEF on time. SMH. I wrote TEF in September 2018 and the result came out in November. CE-B1, CO-B1, EE-B1, EO-C1. It was after writing TEF that I now heard my PGD could give me some points. In fact I wanted to even rewrite the TEF sef because it gave me just 8 points. I don't even know what I was thinking then sef. SMH. See eh research is good abeg.

September 2018, I started my ECA. Sending and confirming my BSc was easy, even though I had to pay for my confirmation. Lol. This country is amazing. But you see my PGD, that one was just trouble. Took over 2 weeks to send and over 1 month to confirm. I had to learn patience. We also sent WAEC. Everything was received and evaluation started. Hubby started his in October, but the two evaluations were completed the same time, January 7th, 2019 with mine as two or more certificates. Glory.

We both registered for Ielts. By then I hadn't discovered this forum, so you know nah, I said "is it not English? I've already passed it" lol. So I didn't do any serious studies. Hubby didn't even have enough time to do his work let alone study. Lol ok nah. 13th of October, I wrote mine: LRWS - 8,6.5,7,7.5. Hubby's: LRWS - 7,6.5,7,7. We were both mad. I needed a better score as the PA. But we couldn't afford rewriting over and over again. Money that we didn't even have. We were on a serious budget, worst part was that we didn't even know about remarking then. You know when you're doing something in isolation. We just picked up the pieces and registered for 15th of December. This time around, I studied and studied and studied. Then we prayed and prayed. I wrote and result came out nicer. LRWS - 8.5,8,7,8
We thanked God and moved on.

After the IELTS we did our Christmas in peace and waited for ECA. It came out on 7th January and boom 470. God is good. We created our profile the next day, 8th and we got ITA on 10th Jan. Wow. We weren't even ready. Hubby and I celebrated it like it was PPR. Again, we were not even ready. POF and all. Hmm

I have over 5 years work experience from different employers. I simply got reference letter on CIC format and bank statements highlighting the payments. That one was smooth.

For POF we used my mutual funds account. I had some of the money there. But hubby transfered a major part of the money so we had to add his bank statements to the reference letter gotten from the bank for my mutual funds.

We booked for medicals with QLife. The only date we could get was Feb 19th. We took it while we gathered other documents, POF especially. The day finally came and we traveled to Lagos for it. We did PCC with Officer Moshood at Alagbon and did medicals the next day. Hubby had a little problem with his medicals so he had to redo it about four days later. We ended up submitting on the 26th of Feb. AOR. God is indeed wonderful. Everything came together finally.

We got our MEP on 11th April followed by an ADR. They requested for a clearer evidence of change of name documents as the ones we uploaded were not legible enough. Grace. We quickly uploaded another one and on the night of 12th, we got our BIL. So we traveled again on Sunday 14th and did our biometrics on 15th.

The wait was the most trying time of our lives. All our plans were put on hold. As a new family, there were many things we needed and wanted to do, but we have to channel every plan towards Canada, if not it would somehow be waste of resources. Our application was pretty simple so we expected to get PPR in atleast 4 months. But all we got was dead silence. I personally was in 3 different groups. Lol. Hubby was in 2 but after a while the pressure got to him and he left the groups. Lol. People in our group were getting theirs left, right and centre but Ottawa was mute on us. We ordered GCMS in first week of June and got it first week of July. Criminality was passed, eligibility and security not started.
We waited and waited. We prayed and prayed. I didn't even smell any ghost updates. At a time I started thinking they had forgotten us but God does not forget his people.
We clocked 6 months on 26th August and nothing still. Anxiety grew. We raised multiple CSEs, mailed Ralph, mailed Erin, mailed Ottawa, called CIC and they all had generic responses. Nothing we didn't already know. I was weak. See eh I learnt patience by force.
I just got tired and left everything to God. If they want to give they should give abeg. I couldn't come and kill myself nah.

On 18th of September, hubby woke me up to our first ever ghost update. Additional documents changed to 'not applicable'. Hmm. A ray of hope. I went and checked on different people that got a ghost and ADR changed to not applicable and they all reported that they got PPR the next day. So we had our fingers crossed. On the faithful 19th of September, I was so expectant. I waited on Ottawa and by 10.44pm I saw the golden mail!!! I was shook. God is awesome. If I had 10 thousand tongues... We danced and prayed. Finally!!
I glanced at the mail periodically for the next three to five days. Hmm. I was in serious shock. Lol. We submitted passports on the 24th of Sept.

When submitting our passports, we had to send a friend as we didn't reside in Lagos. After three weeks, we got notification that it was ready. So we sent her again but they said someone can't collect for you. Neither of us could travel so we had to pay for courier. They delivered those two beauties to us on 21th October. God has been super awesome. I don't know what to type again o
My profound gratitude to you all on this thread for all your help and support even without knowing. I started this journey with little or no knowledge of the process, now I'm a guru, thanks to this thread. In fact hubby has been telling me I can even do agent work for people, but liver no dey. Lol. All the craziness, all the fights, all the selflessness, God will bless abundantly. May this blessing go around and we all get to feel this.
And to all the Whatsapp groups I joined, post ITA group, Feb AOR group, Indian group, Ottawa VO group, LMAO...no be small thing, you guys rocked beyond words. May God bless you all.

Oh I didn't tell y'all that we have a Canada baby baking in the oven... wink
