Chelsea have been head and shoulders above their rivals in the chase for the title this season and they could have it wrapped up with three games to spare. The Blues enter this weekend's fixtures 13 points clear and needing three points to seal a first championship in five years. A victory would take them to 83 points, which is just three points less than the total they amassed when they last achieved title success in the 2009/10 season. Chelsea's 3-1 victory over Leicester City on Wednesday thanks to second-half goals from Didier Drogba, John Terry and Ramires was their 14th game without defeat in the Premier League. Crystal Palace will become just the third team this season to beat Chelsea if successful, following on from Newcastle and Tottenham, but head to Stamford Bridge on the back of two straight defeats. Team news Diego Costa will miss the match and may not feature again this season if the Blues win the Premier League title on Sunday. Costa's campaign has been punctuated by hamstring problems and the striker will not be risked against the Eagles, with Chelsea needing three points to win the title. Loic Remy is back from a calf injury, while Thibaut Courtois could return in goal after a minor hip problem. Opta facts Chelsea have lost just one of their last 14 league matches against Crystal Palace (W9 D4 L1). Alan Pardew has won four of his last six Premier League matches as an opposition coach against Chelsea. When Palace met Chelsea back in October, it was only the 12th time in Premier League history that both teams were reduced to 10 men before half-time. Crystal Palace have recovered more points from losing positions than any other team in the Premier League this season (18). Mourinho has coached Chelsea in 95 Premier League games at Stamford Bridge, losing just one (W74 D20 L1) The Blues have kept five clean sheets in their last six Premier League games against London opposition, but conceded five in the other game (3-5 v Spurs). Palace have committed more fouls than any other team in the Premier League (462). Chelsea will seal the title with a win. Their 2004-05 crown came in the 35th game, their 2005-06 one in the 36th game and their 2009-10 triumph on the final day. Merson's prediction I think this will be Chelsea's title party, but it won't be easy. Palace are decent away from home - they've won seven of their eight travels under Alan Pardew - and their style of play suits it. But I can't go against Chelsea. They are worthy winners and have been outstanding this season, using a fantastic core of a side and creating a winning mentality. That's Jose Mourinho, and all this 'boring' talk is just pathetic. It's hard to retain the title the following year; Arsenal need a couple of players, as we say every year, Man City are going to buy because of the bad season they've had, Manchester United are going to buy too. It won't be easy. http://www1.skysports.com/football/live/match/313728/preview |
dyabman:abi bros the guy makes it look as if football is life, the passion musy have taken over him cos to me this is no longer love or passion but obsession+fanaticism |
fflamingo:The person was wiser than you surely, The first London club to win the Uefa champions league, first london club to win all uefa competitions, first london club to win a cup at the new wembley stadium and last to win at the old one.The london club with the best recordof point in d league, goals scored, cleansheets. Haba dont let ur hatred blind you bros. |
raumdeuter:lot of them so only him can probably say which one is. Had he scored the penalty against man-u in that final i would have given him dat but he lost . |
MizAlero:oh okay, you guys should start praying for a politician or a powerful government official to build a house in ur area or else it might even take longer. Our area got our power supply coutesy of a P.s. that lived here, an area near us got their courtesy of The speaker ofthe assembly |
MizAlero:seriously you people must have done something for that to happen, maybe someone killed a Phcn official or power station was burnt.4yrs ke |
Keky:stop calling us rent boys techincally that stadium still belongs to us because it is owned by chelsea pitch owners a non-profit organisation which has chelsea fans as the bulk of it shareholders. Had the fans votes been more than 75 percent d bridge would have been fully ours . |
raumdeuter:Lol so you agree Germany won d WC not singularly because of schweinsteiger efforts. As for ur 2nd paragraph that England has failed to win is no fault of Terry.Read carefully the part in quote Terry was named UEFA Club Defender of the Year in 2005, 2008 and 2009,PFA Players' Player of the Year in 2005,and was included in the FIFPro World XI for five consecutive seasons, from 2005 to 2009. ''''He was also named in the all-star squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, the only (English player to make the team)'''. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Terry For ur last paragraph i say again that isnt Terry's fault he is just unlucky that his efforts have not be enhanced by that of his mates. |
raumdeuter:look guy all this is off point, i am asking you about terry you are bringing joe cole and schweingsteiger here. Wtf do you mean by ur 1st paragraph about not. ![]() |
raumdeuter:Look at you i have two questions for you your answers will determine my evaluation 1st did Germany win the world cup singularly beacause of schweingsteiger's efforts 2nd did England fail to win world cup because Terry didnt do his job well. Answer those questions pal |
raumdeuter:Then why blame terry for the ucl final, is he a penalty taker, Besides guy u are seriously losing my respect o wtf do u mean you only argue by ranking, are you boasting or what? Or u are simply scared someone will deflate ur ego that y u trying to lessen competition? |
fflamingo:how many of those teams are younger than chelsea, how many of those teams can put their head up high, even the so-called giant among them is fallen so bro take a walk, make sure u have a drink and umbrella and stfu.Okay |
IYANGBALI:send her no then but y not u |
IYANGBALI:Nothing fit pain me this night woman. |
well arsenal fans any hope of league title this season. *hands mic to them*. Pazienza,m4gunners, Mukina2 you guys get answer |
IYANGBALI: mtchew up chelsea jare. |
sey na sin say i choose Oau ni *weeping profusely* |
IYANGBALI:Madam the madam long time no see, owo meji fun enikan. Try and stop hating tho. |
I don show Dd no dey Bleep up o. I hope we win cos Oau don fall my hand flatly. |
A40:bone am abeg higuain own came first had he scored morale of d german team would have been low and probably those chances might never materialise. |
A40:Boss forget o if Higuain didnt lose that one-one that match might have ended in favour of Argentina,When a team loses chances granted on a platter of gold in a very contested match that Team is likely to lose sadly bayern is a very good example ![]() ![]() |
chic2pimp:Lampard finished 2nd best after Ronaldinho fifa 2005 player rankings and is still one of the best mildfieders to ever play Football http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_FIFA_World_Player_of_the_Year and less i forget steven Gerrard led liverpool to their Ucl success against Milan. Even tho his form has taken a dip he isnt inferior. |
raumdeuter:Get my point bro, I said terry shouldnt have been the one to take the penalty if not for his red card and besides 4mins is not too small Iniesta scored the late goal against chelsea with how many mins to go, what about his strike against Netherlands. See you. Excuse me Terry committed that foul in the penalty box to prevent a possible goal and thank goodness he did the resulting penalty was lost, dat being sent-off for ur club and that a notable achiievement bro. No one would forget Terry's goal in the carling final against Spurs man not the spurs fan hoping for a title or the young spurs players hoping for their title nor we the blue fans, the haters and most especially John Terry himself he would be telling kis kids and grand-kids with his head high about those memorable nights and they would be proud to have grand-dad like that, feel me. And Man stop talking of Hazard as you will talk of Totti or Quaresma or an Old-aged player the guy is still youg and memorable nights would come bundles of them so just stiffen it bro. Again we Chelsea fans arent dumbs or fools or social outcasts, part of our large Fan base might include touts and other outcasts, it removes no dignity from the club or we the fans so pls stop saying stuff like 99 percent of Blues are dummies, fools among other insults. No matured person talks like that. Thanks |
raumdeuter:Chelsea didnt lose singularly because of Terry, for God sake if not for Drogba's Red card he wont have played any penalty, For God sake Ronaldo lost a penalty too now, so you can just put the blame on his doorstep. If a messi wasnt singularly blamed for barca's ouster at semis against chelsea because of missed penalty then i blive Terry should nt be blamed for missing a penalty he had no business taking And for the jibe about chelsea winning in his absence, his performances were part of the reason Chelsea made it to the finals anyway. P.s. I hate comparing players that are top class to each other has both had different ways of getting to the top, boateng might be better than terry in some ways but still that dosent make Terry inferior or of lower class. Shalom Modified what do you mean english hype o, A Yoruba Proverbs says 'Omo eni ki sedi bebere ki a fi ileke si idi omo elomiran'. Why cant german press hype their own too if they were so sure of their quality,So boss bone that hype matter o. |
chic2pimp:easy bro no fallacies here, On the question about winning they won one tho that was in the sixties, mind you only eight countries haswon the world cup so that removes nothing i hope. Now to challenge England has been in six quarterfinals, and has finished fourth at italy 1990, Also since world cup started England has been in 14 out of 20 world cups since they entered in 1950 and have only failedto qualify thrice, to that challenge as England cannot be seen as push-overs in world football Records Year Round Position GP W D* L Uruguay 1930 Did not enter Italy 1934 France 1938 Brazil 1950 Group Stage 8th 3 1 0 2 Switzerland 1954 Quarter- finals 6th 3 1 1 1 Sweden 1958 Group Stage 11th 4 0 3 1 Chile 1962 Quarter- finals 8th 4 1 1 2 England 1966 Champions 1st 6 5 1 0 Mexico 1970 Quarter- finals 8th 4 2 0 2 West 1974 Did not qualify Argentina 1978 Spain 1982 2nd Group Stage 6th 5 3 2 0 Mexico 1986 Quarter- finals 8th 5 2 1 2 Italy 1990 Fourth place 4th 7 3 3 1 United 1994 Did not qualify France 1998 Round of 16 9th 4 2 1 1 South Japan 2002 Quarter- finals 6th 5 2 2 1 Germany 2006 Quarter- finals 7th 5 3 2 0 South 2010 Round of 16 13th 4 1 2 1 Brazil 2014 Group Stage 26th 3 0 1 2 Total 14/20 1 Title 62 26 20 1 *Draws include knockout matches decided on penalty kicks http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/England_at_the_FIFA_World_Cup |
AirborneLacer:You know wetin dey pain me, the boateng sef no be pure german, if he sure for am why didnt he play for Ghana like his half-brother. Mtchew Comparing to John Terry kai, boateng fit later get fame and honours pass am o but still Baba go be Baba |
A40:With all repsect boss. In terms of Footie history you might know better than me. But still the fact that england hasnt won the world cup isnt because it league is useless or inferior to other leagues rather it because Epl is the most friendly league to all nationalities (which has proved detrimental to it young stars) mark my words anywhere. I am yet to find any top rated league that has a mix of Nationalities like the epl, Laliga is dominated by the spanish, bundelisga is dominated by germans. The same goes for most.So you can see why epl has not produced a world cup winning english team. But i believe with their coming generations they would be able to prove a point in world football and possibly win. Shalom. |
